It’s a Match!

Chapter 10: The Happy Ending

Summary:

“I know that we’ve only been together for a year and a half and that we might be moving a bit fast, but I know for a fact that in my future, you’re by my side and I want to keep it that way, preferably for the rest of my life.”

Notes:

Hello and welcome to the final chapter of “It’s a Match!” After some time, it’s finally coming to an end.

There’s a lot I wish to say, but I’ll save it for the note at the end.

Quick note before you start reading: this chapter takes place about a year and a half after the events of chapter nine. Also, Izuku moved in with Katsuki ten months prior to chapter ten after his lease expired, so they’re living together now.

With all that out of the way, I hope you all enjoy the final chapter and let me know what you think! It’s time to bring on the fluff!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

“Oi, Deku! Where the fuck did you put my cologne?!”

“Huh? Shouldn’t it be in the medicine cabinet where it normally is?”

“I checked and I don’t fucking see it! Where the hell did you put it?!”

“Okay, stop whining! I’ll go look for it. Maybe it’s in the bedroom.”

“I’m not fucking whining, damn Deku!”

Izuku sighed as he headed back into their bedroom. He scoured the room in hopes of coming across a familiar square-shaped, garnet bottle. Upon examining the room for a second time, he spotted it on the blond’s nightstand.

“There it is! It was staring me right in the face.” Izuku chuckled lightly as he walked over to the nightstand and swiped it up.

As he turned to leave the bedroom, he heard Katsuki shout once more.

Deku!

“I’m coming, Kacchan, I’m coming!”

Izuku rushed into the bathroom, coming face to face with a fuming Katsuki.

“I found it. It was sitting on your nightstand.” Izuku handed the bottle to his boyfriend. “You must’ve left it there the last time you used it.” he commented.

“Or maybe you put it over there. You have a knack for moving my shit around, nerd.” Katsuki snapped.

He spritzed some of the cologne onto his wrists and rubbed them together as Izuku pouted.

“I don’t move your things around, Kacchan!”

“Says the one who put my All Might ugly sweater on your side of the closet rather than mine.”

“We have the exact same sweater, Kacchan! I probably mistook it for mine!”

“You realize that you could check the size on the tag, right, Deku?”

“Don’t be cheeky.”

Izuku watched Katsuki smirk in the mirror’s reflection as he spritzed a little more cologne before adjusting his cufflinks. He stared at the blond’s reflection just a little longer, emerald eyes roaming over his slicked back spiky hair, his teeth digging into his bottom lip as he concentrated on adjusting his cufflinks, and the black tuxedo he wore complete with a crisp white button up and a wine red tie. His cheeks turned pink.

God, he’s so handsome.

“See something you like, Deku?” Katsuki asked, the smirk tugging at his lips once more.

“H-Huh?” his cheeks reddened. “Well, that’s…um, what I mean to say is…”

Oh my god, Izuku, stop tripping over your words. Form coherent sentences, goddammit! he quietly chided.

“I know you see something you like, I can tell by just looking at you. You think I don’t know I’m perfect eye candy?” the blond inquired.

Izuku got ready to retaliate with a remark of his own when Katsuki leaned in towards him, resting his hand on the bathroom counter. The words died on his tongue as Katsuki’s crimson eyes met his viridian ones in an intense stare. The inviting scent of cinnamon and cedar wood wafted towards him, making Izuku want to wallow in it forever—

“Oi, nerd. As much as I’d like to let you continue drooling over me, we’ve got places to be.”

“H-Huh?”

Izuku blinked twice, noticing that Katsuki was tapping on his watch. Upon seeing the time, he shrieked.

“Oh my god, we’re going to be late!” Izuku stormed out of the bathroom. “This is because of you and your stupid cologne!” he shouted.

“Huh?! How is that my fault, you’re the one who keeps moving my shit!” Katsuki retorted, hot on his heels as he flicked off the bathroom lights.

“And I told you that I don’t move your things around! Also, you took way too long to get ready! Who spends their time in the bathroom for nearly two hours wondering if they should slick their hair back or not?!”

“Oh, you’re one to talk! Who the hell stands in the closet for three fucking hours contemplating what they should wear?!”

“Hey, I wanted to look good! It’s Shouto and Momo’s engagement party, after all!”

“And you decided that you wanted to wear some fashion disaster called a tacky plaid suit with a shirt and tie that doesn’t match?! Thank god I managed to find something else for you to wear before you walked out wearing that monstrosity!”

They headed out into the hall and Katsuki locked the door before following his fuming boyfriend.

“I thought it looked nice! Your taste in fashion sucks sometimes, Kacchan.” Izuku jeered, sticking his tongue out at him.

“Excuse me, my fashion sense is on point compared to yours, Deku.” Katsuki shot back.

As they took the elevator, they continued to bicker about who took the longest to get ready. Then, it delved into trivial topics like Izuku not separating their clothes for laundry day and Katsuki putting hot sauce in the food out of spite whenever they had an argument. They left the complex and began to make their way to the subway.

Izuku huffed out a sigh as Katsuki called him out for checking him out in the bathroom earlier.

“Look, it’s not my fault that you’re insufferably handso—“

Katsuki stopped, whirling around to grab for the lapels of Izuku’s suit. He mashed their lips together in a kiss, causing the greenette to let out a surprised squeak against Katsuki’s mouth. Katsuki pulled away soon after, relishing in Izuku’s wide evergreen eyes and reddened cheeks.

Kacchan! We’re in public, how could you kiss me so suddenly?!” he exclaimed.

“Oh please, you’ve done the same thing before. You remember how you kissed me in front of the elementary school with the kids watching?” Katsuki shot back.

The blush on Izuku’s cheeks deepened and spread to his ears as he recalled when he kissed him that day. One of the kids he was teaching this year, Mahoro, teased them about it while her younger brother Katsuma was flustered by it.

He covered his face with his arms as Katsuki chuckled.

“Come on, Deku. We’ll really be late if we don’t hurry up.” he told him, grabbing Izuku's arm and pulling it away from his face.

He slipped his hand into Izuku’s and they resumed their walk to the station. He glanced at the greenette, quirking a brow.

“Oi, you did remember to grab the gift for them, right?” he asked.

“Huh?” Izuku paled. “Oh god, Kacchan! When were you going to tell me?! When we got there?!” he hissed.

“I’m telling you now, aren’t I?”

“Whatever, Kacchan!”

Izuku and Katsuki stood in the elevator as it took them up to the penthouse level, the greenette fiddling with the satin bow on the gift box. He bit on his bottom lip as Katsuki side-eyed him.

“Oi, stop messing with the bow, Deku.” he said, his voice filling the elevator space.

“I’m sorry. It’s just…I’m worried. Do you think they’ll like what we got for them, Kacchan?” Izuku asked.

“They better like it, we spent over five hours in the damn department store searching for something to get them and then a long ass time putting it all together.” Katsuki replied.

Izuku didn’t respond, the fiddling growing persistent as he bit down harder on his lip. Katsuki sighed before winding an arm around the greenette’s waist and pulling him close so that their hips were side by side.

“But seriously, don’t worry so much. They’re your friends, I’m sure they’ll like what you got them.” he reassured him.

Izuku smiled up at Katsuki.

“You’re right. Thank you, Kacchan.”

“I’m always right, Deku. Don’t you forget it.”

Izuku laughed as the elevator doors slid open, revealing the entryway to Shouto and Momo’s penthouse. Momo came around the corner soon after, a wide smile on her face.

“Oh! Midoriya, Bakugou, you made it!” she chirped.

“Hi, Yaoyorozu! Or should I say, soon-to-be Mrs. Todoroki.” Izuku greeted.

Momo laughed as he pulled her in for a hug. She reciprocated the hug immediately.

“I feel like it’s been forever since I last saw you.”

“Don’t exaggerate, Midoriya. You saw Shouto and I last week.”

“I know.” Izuku pulled away. “I’m so sorry that we’re late. Kacchan was fussing over where his cologne is and then I almost forgot to bring your gift.” he explained.

He handed the gift box to her, which made Momo smile.

“Thank you, Midoriya. Also, you’re not late at all! We’re still waiting for Iida to arrive, he had some business to wrap up at the station before going back to get dressed and then come here.” she explained.

“Oh, alright. By the way, you look really pretty today! That dress really suits you, Yaoyorozu.” he commented, admiring the long, cream-colored dress she wore.

“Thank you, Midoriya.” she replied with a smile.

She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear as Katsuki spoke.

“Yeah, you don’t look too bad, Ponytail. You have good taste in fashion, unlike a certain nerd I know.”

“Oh?”

Izuku pouted as Katsuki side-eyed him with a small smirk.

“Kacchan, seriously! Can’t you let it go already?!” he whined.

“No.” Katsuki shifted his gaze back to Momo. “Deku deadass almost came here in a tacky suit and a shirt and tie that didn’t match. I had to practically rip it off of him and get him in something nicer.” he explained.

Momo laughed.

“Midoriya’s always been eccentric, so I’m not surprised.” she gestured towards the end of the hall. “Come, I’ll take you to the living room.” she told them.

After exchanging their shoes for house slippers, they followed Momo down the hall until they approached a flight of stairs. As they ascended the stairs, Izuku could hear lively chatter and laughter.

Once they arrived at the second floor of the penthouse, Izuku was floored by the massive kitchen flowing seamlessly into the living room, where everyone was gathered.

“Wow…your penthouse is beautiful…” he mused as he marveled at the stainless steel appliances and large marble island in the kitchen.

His gaze shifted towards the birch wood flooring that flowed throughout the space and the black L-shaped couch facing a large, flat screen television as Momo spoke.

“Thank you.” she replied.

Izuku continued looking around as he spotted Shouto chatting with Hitoshi, pointing at something on his camera screen.

“Shouto! Midoriya and Bakugou are here!” Momo called out.

Shouto turned and smiled upon seeing them. He told Hitoshi that he’d be back before making his way over to them.

“Midoriya, Bakugou. I’m glad the two of you could make it.” he said.

“I’m glad, too! Thank you for inviting us.” Izuku chirped.

He moved in for a hug, which Shouto readily reciprocated. Izuku could faintly hear Katsuki click his teeth in mild annoyance.

“Oi, don’t get too touchy with my boyfriend, Half and Half.” the blond snapped, narrowing his crimson eyes.

“Hasn’t he told you already, Bakugou? This is how he greets his friends.” Shouto stated.

“No shit, Sherlock. But I don’t like it when he does it with you.” he pulled Izuku away from the two toned-haired male, “Go and be touchy with your fiancée, goddamnit.” he barked.

“Alright.” Shouto wrapped an arm around Momo’s waist. “Well, you two are here just in time. We’re going to open our gifts.” he told them.

Momo smiled, resting her head on her fiancé’s shoulder.

“Let’s go sit down, you two.” she suggested.

“Alright.” Izuku replied as they headed over to where everyone was gathered.

Ochaco looked away from Mina, smiling once she saw Katsuki and Izuku.

“Deku! Bakugou!” she called out, waving them over.

“Oh! Uraraka!” Izuku exclaimed, rushing over to hug his friend.

Ochaco hugged back, the hug lasting for a few short moments before he sat down beside her on the couch. Katsuki sat down beside the greenette, resting his elbow on the couch’s armrest and pressing his cheek against his hand as Izuku spoke.

“How‘ve you been? Are you doing okay at the new school?”

“Yeah! Everyone there is friendly and the kids are such sweethearts! I really like it there.”

“That’s good!” Izuku’s lips curled into a pout. “But I miss you so much, Uraraka!”

“I do, too! But what can I do about it? It’s closer to the station that Tenya got transferred to and the commute from our apartment to Sakura Hill is way too long.”

“That’s understandable. But it doesn’t change the fact that I miss you.”

“I know, I know.”

Izuku rested his head against her shoulder, sighing deeply as a dinging sound came from downstairs.

“Oh, that must be Iida. I will go and get him.” Momo said, standing up and heading towards the stairs.

She returned with Tenya soon after, who settled down between Ochaco and Izuku. Momo sat beside Shouto on the couch, eyeing the gifts that sat atop the coffee table.

“Okay, everyone! We’re going to start opening gifts now!” she announced.

“Open ours first!” Mina shouted, pointing at the silver gift bag beside a black and white polka dotted one.

“No, open ours first!” Denki exclaimed, pointing at the rectangular box wrapped in gold wrapping paper.

“Okay, okay, settle down! We’ll get to everyone’s sooner or later!” Momo glanced at Shouto. “Which one do you think we should open first, Shouto?” she asked.

Shouto scanned the presents before picking up a box wrapped in green and white striped wrapping paper.

“Let’s do this one.” he told her.

“Oh, that’s ours!” Ochaco declared.

“We hope you like our gift, Yaoyorozu and Todoroki!” Tenya chimed in.

“Thank you, Iida.” Momo replied.

Shouto got to work ripping the wrapping paper off of the box. Once he was done, Momo lifted the lid to reveal their gift.

“Oh! These are really pretty!” Momo exclaimed, taking a wine glass out of the box.

Shouto picked up the other one inside, observing it.

“It’s a couples set. See, yours says soon-to-be Mrs. Todoroki and lucky Mr. Todoroki.” he commented, bringing the glasses side by side.

“Oh, you’re right…they really are nice.” Momo smiled. “Thank you, Iida and Uraraka! We’ll use this later tonight with the wine Shinsou brought over.” she told them.

“You are welcome!” Tenya replied.

“We’re glad you like it.” Ochaco said with a smile.

Momo and Shouto put the glasses back into the box and closed it, setting it off to the side. They proceeded to open the other gifts that their friends brought with them, thanking them. Eventually, they got to the last gift.

“Alright, and this one’s from Midoriya and Bakugou!” she declared, picking up the white box with the red satin bow on it.

“We hope you like it, Yaoyorozu, Todoroki.” Izuku told them.

“You better like it, Ponytail and Half and Half. Deku and I spent a lot of fucking time on it.” Katsuki barked out.

Izuku smacked Katsuki’s knee, glowering at him as Momo laughed.

“I’m sure we will, Bakugou.” she reassured him as she undid the bow and pulled the lid off.

Shouto looked at what was in the box as Momo gasped softly.

“A photo album…” she trailed off, taking the white album out of the box.

“Yeah. Kacchan and I kept arguing over what we should get you guys and eventually decided to buy an album and put photos of you two in it. Eventually, it turned more into a scrapbooking project than anything else.” Izuku explained with a chuckle.

“Yeah, because damn Deku thinks he needs to be fucking extra in everything he does.” Katsuki jeered.

“Hey, the correct way to say it is that I went Plus Ultra, Kacchan.” Izuku reminded him.

“Oi, don’t just drop an All Might reference from out of nowhere.” he barked out, making Izuku snicker.

Momo smiled.

“It looks nice.” Momo remarked as Shouto took the album from her and opened it.

“The water shines only by the sun. And it is you who are my sun.” Shouto read.

“Where do you see that, Shouto?” she asked.

“Right here.” he replied, pointing at some writing on the back of the cover.

Momo read it, the smile on her lips widening.

“That’s very sweet! It compliments us very well, don’t you think, Shouto?”

“It does.”

Momo snapped the album shut, setting it back in the box.

“Thank you very much, Bakugou and Midoriya! We’ll definitely look through it tonight.” she told them.

“Of course! We’re glad you like it!” Izuku chirped.

Momo set the box off to the side with the rest of their gifts.

“And that’s all! Thank you all again for the amazing gifts. Now, we have food and drinks in the kitchen. We also have games set up if you would like to play some. So, enjoy yourselves!” she glanced at Shouto. “Would you mind putting these away, Shouto?” she asked, motioning to the presents.

“Yeah.” Shouto replied.

Shouto cleared everything up with Hitoshi’s help as everyone went to grab food and drinks and mingle with one another. Eventually, Katsuki was forcefully dragged over by Eijirou and Denki to play Jenga, the blond swearing and threatening to throttle them to death the entire time. Meanwhile, Izuku was seated on the couch with Ochaco, Tenya, and Hitoshi, chatting and eating from their plates.

Izuku sipped on his fruit punch as Hitoshi spoke.

“So? What’s it like living with Bakugou? I never got to ask you because I’ve been so busy.” he asked.

“Oh yeah! I only told you that I moved in with him.” Izuku set his cup down on the coffee table. “Well, it’s been…quite an experience. Aside from the occasional arguments we have over small stuff, these past ten months have been amazing.” he told him, smiling at the thought of being able to live with his boyfriend.

Ochaco knitted her brows, watching Izuku with concern.

“So, are you two doing good now? You know, with what happened five months ago?” she asked.

“Wait, what happened five months ago?” Hitoshi inquired, arching a brow at Ochaco’s question.

“They had this really big fight and it ended with Deku coming over to Tenya and I’s place for a bit. They didn’t talk to each other for some time and I started getting scared because I thought they were actually going to break up…” Ochaco continued rattling on to Hitoshi about what happened as Izuku’s mind carried him back to five months ago.

He remembered how Katsuki didn’t really say much and even went out of his way to avoid him for a few days. Eventually, he got fed up with it and asked him if he did something wrong. When Izuku tried to pry more, Katsuki started snapping at him for being too nosy. That set Izuku off and the argument went from there. It eventually escalated into pointing out each other’s flaws and insulting each other.

It was then that Izuku packed his bags and headed out of the apartment, telling him that he’s leaving and that he can’t stand being in the same room as him. Katsuki didn’t make an effort to stop him and he went to crash by Ochaco and Tenya for some time.

He believed that Katsuki would regret saying those things to him and apologize before coming to take him back to their apartment, but as the days passed with no call or text from the blond, he started thinking that Katsuki didn’t want to have anything to do with him anymore. He cried for hours thinking about how this might be the end of their relationship.

Nearly a week passed before Katsuki showed up at Ochaco and Tenya’s apartment to bring Izuku back to their apartment so that they could talk. Since then, they’ve been trying their best to communicate their feelings better and move forward in their relationship.

Izuku tucked a curl behind his ear as his gaze shifted to the table that Katsuki was at along with Eijirou and a few others.

Denki pulled out a Jenga block as the tower collapsed, ensuing loud shouts and laughs from the group. Katsuki jeered at Denki for pulling out a block that obviously wasn’t going to come out easily, reveling in how defeated Denki looked.

Katsuki looked away and their eyes met from across the room. Butterflies fluttered in Izuku’s stomach as the blond grinned at him. Izuku smiled back, his cheeks turning pink.

He redirected his attention to his friends, Ochaco having finished summarizing everything for Hitoshi.

“That sounds rough. So, Midoriya, how are you doing?” Hitoshi asked.

The smile on Izuku’s lips widened as he thought about the look on Katsuki’s face when they locked eyes earlier, how his gentle smile and eyes sparkling with love made him feel like the most precious person in the world.

“Kacchan and I are doing better now. Much, much better.”

A few hours passed before the engagement party wrapped up for the night. After telling everyone goodbye, Izuku and Katsuki started heading home for the night, the two of them chatting and holding hands the entire time.

“Deku, what do you want to do when we get back?” Katsuki asked.

“Mmmm…” Izuku rested his head against Katsuki’s arm. “Obviously, we have to take a shower. Then I want to watch television and drink some wine.” he replied.

“That sounds nice.” Katsuki said.

He squeezed Izuku’s hand as he grinned at him.

“So, about that shower…we’re taking it together, right?”

“I thought that’s what we were doing? I mean, we can save money by bathing together. We’ll be using less water—“

“Deku, just say that you wanna get in the shower with me because you like taking a shower with me. None of that nerdy shit.”

Izuku pouted.

“I was going to get to the less nerdy part of my explanation…” he mumbled.

Katsuki chuckled.

“That so? Glad we’re on the same page.” he commented.

Izuku smiled at him as they arrived at their apartment complex. Upon reaching their destination, Katsuki took out his keys and unlocked the door, the two of them stepping inside.

They got to work taking off their clothes in the bedroom and heading into the shower. Katsuki washed Izuku’s hair while Izuku did the same (he tried his best because Katsuki was taller than him). Eventually, it led to Katsuki groping his body and Izuku resisting his advances before giving in, letting the blond fuck him against the tiled wall in the shower stall with his legs wrapped around his torso and his arms slung over his shoulders.

When they were done in the shower, they changed into something more comfortable and headed into the living room. Izuku settled himself on the couch, an All Might blanket covering his bare legs as Katsuki came over with two glasses of red wine.

“Here, Deku.” he said, handing the greenette his glass.

“Thanks, Kacchan.” Izuku smiled at him as he took the wine glass from him.

He sipped on it, the tart berry taste coating his taste buds as Katsuki sat down beside him. He flicked through the various titles on Netflix before choosing a thriller movie. Letting it play, he sipped on his wine as he looked at Izuku.

“No matter how many times I see it, I still think you look drop dead sexy in my shirts.” he commented.

Izuku blushed as he looked down at the oversized black Aji Fry shirt he had on.

“Do I…?” he mumbled.

“Yeah, you do.” Katsuki replied.

He leaned in and pressed a kiss to Izuku’s temple. Pulling away, he placed a hand on Izuku’s cheek and caressed it. A soft smile touched his lips as he stroked the rise of his cheekbone with his thumb.

My drop dead sexy Deku.” he whispered.

The blush on Izuku’s cheeks deepened as he covered Katsuki’s hand with his own.

“Kacchan, you’re so straightforward…” he mumbled.

“You know I don’t sugarcoat shit. I always say it how it is.” Katsuki told him.

Izuku smiled, leaning more into Katsuki’s touch as he sighed.

“Yeah, you’re right.” Izuku stared into Katsuki’s vermilion eyes. “And no matter how many times I see you wearing them, I still think you’re drop dead sexy when you wear glasses, Kacchan.” he teased, a mischievous glint in his eyes as he pushed the blond’s glasses up the bridge of his nose.

“Oi, watch it with the flirting, nerd.” Katsuki warned, his cheeks reddening.

“Oh? And what are you going to do about it?”

“This.”

Katsuki placed his other hand on Izuku’s other cheek and leaned in to plant kisses all over the greenette’s face. Izuku squealed, caught off-guard by the sudden onslaught of kisses.

“Kacchan! Kacchan, stop!” he exclaimed.

“Oh? If I didn’t know any better, I’d think that you’re actually enjoying being showered with kisses.” Katsuki teased.

Giggles bubbled up in Izuku’s throat as Katsuki continued his assault of kissing his face. He tried to push the blond away, but it was no use. Katsuki wasn’t going to let him get away that easily.

Katsuki’s shifted his body so that he was on the couch hovering over Izuku. Lightly pushing him down, he pressed Izuku against the couch. His hands moved to rest on either side of Izuku’s head as he continued kissing him. More peals of laughter came from Izuku.

“Kacchan, seriously, that’s enou—ack! Not there, Kacchan!” he exclaimed as Katsuki began kissing up and down his neck.

“I don’t see you trying to stop me.” Katsuki remarked, his breath hitting his skin.

A shudder coursed through Izuku’s body. He felt the blond grin against his neck, knowing the devilish smirk he must be sporting.

He’s enjoying himself way too much, he thought to himself.

Katsuki pressed one more kiss to his neck before swooping up and capturing Izuku’s lips in a kiss. Izuku instantly melted, kissing back as he wrapped his arms around Katsuki’s neck. The kiss was sweet and tender, their lips moving together in a slow tango.

Katsuki pulled away slowly, his lips making a small smacking sound. Izuku’s eyes stayed shut for a moment to savor the moment before slowly opening them. He stared into Katsuki’s ruby eyes as the blond grinned at him, pushing his curls back and planting a kiss on his forehead.

“Alright, I think that’s enough kisses for right now. You’ll get more later.” Katsuki told him as he sat back up.

Izuku shot up as well, peering at his boyfriend questioningly.

“You’re going to kiss me even more?” Izuku asked.

“Well, duh. I can never kiss you too much. Besides, you’re so fucking cute that I can’t help but kiss you.” Katsuki replied.

Izuku blushed.

“There you go again with being straightforward…” he mumbled, making Katsuki chuckle.

“Alright, get over here.” he said, pulling Izuku into his lap.

His arms snaked around his torso, his chin resting atop Izuku’s curls. The greenette sank into his embrace as they watched the film (they both forgot it was on in the first place). As Katsuki rewinded it back to the scene they left off at, Izuku’s mind drifted elsewhere.

“You know, Kacchan, Todoroki and Yaoyorozu look very cute together.” he commented.

“Huh? Where’d that come from, all of a sudden?” Katsuki asked.

“I was just thinking about the engagement party this evening and how Todoroki and Yaoyorozu looked together. I’ve known them for a while now, so I managed to see their relationship develop into what it is today. They’re a match made in heaven.” Izuku explained.

“Hm…guess that makes sense. They fucking look like they suit each other.” Katsuki’s breath fanned over Izuku’s hair. “Us, too. We’re a match made in heaven, too.” he pointed out.

“Yeah. We are indeed.” Izuku replied.

He stared down at the red infinity bracelet from their first date on his wrist, which he put on after showering. He ran his finger across the red rope, a smile touching his lips.

“Kacchan, you remember when you bought the couple bracelets at the festival, right?” he asked.

Katsuki scoffed.

“How could I not? That was where we went on our first date, dumbass.” he replied, making Izuku laugh.

“You’re right. Well, the vendor was telling me that it’s like the red string of fate that connects two people who are destined for each other together. Looking at it, it got me thinking that these emphasize how we’re made for each other, bound together by the red string. It’s very romantic.” the greenette explained.

“That so…well, I don’t think that the bracelets emphasize that point enough.” Katsuki stated.

Izuku blinked.

“Huh? Kacchan, what do you—“ he began to turn around, but Katsuki’s voice stopped him.

“Turn back around, Deku.”

Izuku wanted to ask why he should, but seeing his expression out of the corner of his eye, he decided to do as he said. He went back to facing the television as Katsuki slid him off of his lap.

“Now, close your eyes.” the blond instructed.

“Close my eyes?” Izuku parroted.

“Yes, nerd. Close your eyes.”

“But why—“

“Just fucking do it already, damn Deku.”

Next thing Izuku knew, Katsuki’s hand was flying over his eyes. He wanted to protest and demand that Katsuki explain himself, but he knew that the blond wouldn’t tell him anymore than to close his eyes. He huffed out a sigh, closing his eyes.

“Are they closed?” Katsuki asked.

“Yes, they are.” Izuku replied.

“Alright, good. Don’t you dare open your eyes. If you do, I’ll kill you.” Katsuki warned.

Izuku laughed.

“You wouldn’t actually kill your boyfriend, would you?”

“No. I’d tickle you until you beg for mercy, though.”

The greenette could imagine the sly grin that danced across Katsuki’s lips as he pouted.

“Okay, fine. I’ll keep my eyes closed.” he huffed out in defeat.

“Good. Now stay here, I’ll be right back.” Katsuki told him.

Izuku listened to Katsuki’s footsteps retreat in the direction of their bedroom. He couldn’t help but think about what Katsuki was up to.

What does Kacchan have planned? Is it something mischievous? Knowing him, he’d do such a thing. Last time, he put a fake spider in my clothes and I almost had a heart attack. I really hope it’s nothing like that, he thought to himself.

He bit his lip as another possibility popped up in his mind.

Wait, what if Kacchan wants to give me something? I mean, that makes more sense. But why would I have to keep my eyes closed for it? Is it going to be something that’ll shock me? If it is, then having me keep my eyes shut makes sense. Otherwise, there’s no reason for him to do that if it isn’t that serious, he silently mused.

He continued running other possibilities in his mind, but no matter how hard he tried, he wasn’t able to make sense of any of them.

He sighed loudly.

“Okay, you know what? Let’s just wait it out, Izuku. Kacchan will return soon, so just be patient for a little longer.” he told himself.

A few minutes later, Katsuki returned.

“Sorry it took a while, I couldn’t find what I was looking for.” he told him.

Izuku arched his brow at this.

Couldn’t find what he was looking for? I’m kinda curious now, he thought to himself.

“Make sure you keep your eyes closed.” Katsuki instructed.

“I will. But Kacchan, what were you looking for?” Izuku asked.

“You’ll see.” Katsuki replied.

Izuku got ready to say something, but stopped when Katsuki took his hand. Something slid onto his finger, which confused him even more.

What in the world is Kacchan even doing? he wondered.

“Okay, Deku. You can open your eyes now.”

Izuku opened his eyes to see the blond down on one knee before him, his hand still holding his own. Confusion flashed across his face.

“Kacchan, what—“ Izuku’s eyes traveled down to his hand and he paused.

His eyes widened upon seeing the silver band studded with green and orange gemstones adorning his finger. His breath hitched in his throat as his heart raced a mile a minute. Then, realization slammed into him like a towering ocean wave.

“Kacchan…” he trailed off, his gaze flicking back to the blond, whose cheeks were painted red.

“Deku, I…” Katsuki ran a hand through his hair. “Fuck. I’ve been staring in the mirror for about two months trying to get this right for when it’s finally time to propose to you, but now that I’m actually saying it, the shit just flew out of my head.”

He ran a thumb over Izuku’s knuckles as he continued.

“This isn’t the most romantic proposal, but like hell was I going to do it in front of our friends. I wanted to be a little more intimate and do it when the moment felt right. That moment is now.” Katsuki stared into his eyes. “I know that we’ve only been together for a year and a half and that we might be moving a bit fast, but I know for a fact that in my future, you’re by my side and I want to keep it that way, preferably for the rest of my life.” he told him.

Tears swam in Izuku’s eyes as Katsuki smiled at him lovingly.

“Marry me, Deku. And don’t you dare tell me no, I ain’t gonna take that for a fucking answer.” he stated.

Izuku sniffled, the tears spilling from his eyes and rolling down his cheeks. He used his free hand to wipe them away as a sob escaped his lips.

“Yes…yes, Kacchan, yes. I’ll marry you.” he spoke, his voice trembling as he did.

“Good.” Katsuki brought Izuku’s hand up to his lips, kissing it. “That means I didn’t fuck this up.” he commented.

Izuku laughed at this as Katsuki pulled him up so that he was standing, his hands moving to cup Izuku’s cheeks before pressing their lips together. Izuku’s arms looped around Katsuki’s neck as he eagerly kissed back, more tears streaming down his cheeks.

This moment along with every part of his life after meeting Katsuki was perfect. From falling in love with him to dating him, living with him, and everything in between, the greenette could only describe it as breathtakingly amazing.

If Izuku’s life wasn’t perfect before, it certainly was now. And he wouldn’t change a damn thing about it.

Izuku ran his fingers through Katsuki’s hair as he kissed him deeply, pouring all of his love for his boyfrie—no, fiancé—into it.

As Katsuki murmured a soft “I love you” against Izuku’s lips, one thought circled around in his mind.

We truly are a match made in heaven.

Notes:

And that is the end of It’s a Match!

I’m still very emotional over the fact that this fic has truly come to an end.

This fic came about when I was looking for an alternative idea I came up after my original one got rejected (that’s on me since I forgot to reread the guidelines one last time before submitting it). As I worked on writing and outlining It’s a Match!, it grew on me and I must say that this one is probably one of my favorite bkdk fics that I’ve written. So, I hope you guys enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

I would also like to thank you all for the immense amount of love and support that this fic has gotten! Reading everyone’s comments and seeing that you guys were enjoying the story really made my day ☺️

Again, thanks for all of the support and I’ll see you guys around with whatever fic I decide to work on next (and also the other two that I’m still writing)!
