Chapter Text

The baby screams filled the lining of the small room, due to being held down to be tested, and tears flow down Jude’s face, as she’s being asked to hold her newborn down. It’s been days since she’s given birth, and she looked like hell. Her eyes had dark bags under them, and she felt sick all the time. Everything made her nauseous, some days were better than others, yet she could only pray things would get better.

Timothy was there, washing her hair, holding her hair back, massaging her feet, and caring for baby. It scared him to see them in such a state, but he knew it would be alright. He never lost his faith in his new little family, and that’s how he kept fighting.

As days turned into weeks, Timothy would spoon Jude in the hospital bed, he prayed with her every morning, and night. Even when she was too weak, he’d kept his word, and looked after the both of them. Baby grew stronger, and soon was able to bring home. It was only Jude in the hospital now, it was found she’d been battling postpartum symptoms from before she’d even given birth. From the depression, to plugged ducts, everything fit together like a puzzle piece, and she just had to fight now.

Timothy would bring their bouncing two month old baby girl to the hospital every day, until she was released. She was sentenced to bed rest for two more weeks, due to some light tearing, but other than that, she was able to stabilize her body on her own.

As Judy began the next day, she was able to change, and feed their baby once again. This brought hope to her, she’d still grown emotional, but it wasn’t as bad. As she finished changing their beautiful once nine pound, three ounces, twenty inch long baby, she realized time had already flown by too fast. Their baby was now twelve pounds even, and twenty two inches long.

When time came to sign papers, Jude and Timothy both agreed on the baby’s names. “Gracelyn Brielle Howard,” her certificate read, to be known by, ‘Little Gracy.’ To have no ties to anyone else they knew, it was a total fresh start.

As a new day began, the sun had hung down a little lower, bringing the temp up. Jude lay in bed, Gracelyn on her chest, as Timothy waltzed around the kitchen preparing breakfast. They’d finally slept through a night peacefully. A trick was whenever baby was hungry, and Jude was asleep, Timothy would help her nurse, so she didn’t have to wake completely. Then, he’d care for the baby on his shifts, giving each of them enough rest for the next day.

Notes:

Thank you for reading, my head churned throughout the last two chapters. I’m trying to prevail through writers block, and create something interesting.

Notes:

Again, if you don't hear for me within a couple of days, I am either working, or I have writers block, and I am taking a workshop day. Xoxo Magdalena.
