Chapter Text

A calm and serene silence floated over the Bunker. The things that creaked and groaned continued to do so, adding to the ambience of the underground refuge. An amber warmth came from the lights in the library, as it usually did when Sam was working late into the night on finding a case. He was in his usual position, hunched over a pile of books on the table, his laptop opened to the side as he scribbled on a notepad. The only thing that was different about tonight was that Eileen sat across from him, in the same posture.

They had been hunting together for about two years now. Ever since Dean and Lilah had made the decision that Dean would take a step back from hunting, or at least hunts that were further away from the Bunker, Sam had teamed up with Eileen to take on cases that were further away. Lilah had taken it upon herself to be their matchmaker, and eventually she got her wish when Sam finally asked Eileen out. Dean would every now and then go on a local hunt, something not too far from the Bunker considering he now had more than just the two of them to think of.

Tiny feet took quiet footsteps across the cold tiled floor of the bunker halls. Her dark hair fluttered behind her as she made a quick dash past different rooms. She got to one room in particular and slowly pushed the door open. She smiled mischievously as she looked around the room, but she frowned when she didn’t find what she was looking for. A big pair of strong arms wrapped around her tightly as the person they belonged to growled. She squealed as she was lifted into the air and the man turned her around.

Dean smiled down at his daughter, tickling her sides as giggled. She struggled against him, trying to get away from his hands but couldn’t as she continued to laugh loudly.

“Daddy, stop!” she squealed.

“I’ll stop when you give me some sugar” Dean said, offering her his cheek.

She leaned up and kissed it, causing him to stop his tickling.

“Charlie, what’re you doing out of bed, huh? You want momma to get mad?” he asked, as he looked at her with as stern a look as possible. He couldn’t resist his daughter. Wrapped around her finger from the beginning, which wasn’t something he expected to happen, but it did.

“I wanted to scare you” she replied, trying to make a scary face.

“Hey, you know you can’t scare me” he smirked and kissed her forehead. “Alright, out of daddy’s special room and back to bed, young lady.”

He placed her down just as Lilah walked into the Dean Cave, wrapped in a robe over her nightie.

“Uh oh” Dean muttered as he watched a better stern face than his ever was on Lilah’s face.

“Charlie, what’re you doing in here?” Lilah asked, wrapping her arms across her chest.

“Sorry, momma” Charlie apologized.

Lilah’s facial expression softened. She held out her hand and Charlie took it. Lilah leaned down and kissed her head, smiling at her.

“It’s okay, baby. I know you’re excited that daddy’s back from his hunt. You just have to get some sleep to wake up for school tomorrow. Now, say goodnight to daddy” Lilah said.

Charlie let go of Lilah’s hand and hugged Dean, kissing his cheek. “Goodnight, daddy.”

“Goodnight, love bug” Dean said, kissing her forehead.

Charlie walked out of the room with Lilah. Dean smiled as he watched them leave for Charlie’s room. Never in a million years did he think he would have this. A woman he loved, a kid and while it wasn’t the most conventional form of a home, the bunker was what they called home for some years now. Who would’ve thought that what he saw in that Djinn dream all those years ago would ever come true, in any form. Dean turned off the light in the cave and walked out, closing the door.

Dean walked down the hall to his and Lilah’s room. He left the door opened ajar as he got changed into a shirt and sweatpants. He walked over to the bed and pulled back the covers, just as Lilah walked in and closed the door. She smiled at him as walked over to the bed and untied her robe, dropping it on the edge of the bed. She crawled in next to him, as he wrapped his arm around her and she laid her head on his chest, sighing contently.

“Did she fall asleep?” he asked.

Lilah nodded. “Went right off to sleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.”

“Good” Dean whispered.

Lilah leaned up and placed a kiss to his neck. “You know, she’s not the only one who’s happy you’re home.”

Dean smirked; his eyebrows raised as he looked down at her. “Really?”

She nodded as she leaned up and kissed him, the kiss quickly becoming heated as his arms wrapped around her. Dean rolled them over, holding himself up above her as they kissed. She combed her hands through his hair, her rings shimmering against the light in the room.

Lilah could’ve never imagined that she would end up here, in the arms of a man she loved so unconditionally it should’ve scared her. It didn’t. Loving Dean was the easiest thing she’d ever done, and she’d always be thankful he came into her life. She wouldn’t have their beautiful daughter if he hadn’t. Dean always wished he could give her more than what hunting had offered them, but she didn’t care. Wherever they were as a family, that’s what mattered.

After that unforgettable night in the Impala where they told each other how they feel, they were together for two years before Dean surprised her with a marriage proposal. They had just wrapped up a hunt in Vegas and Dean turned to her the minute was over and got down on one knee. She thought he was joking at first but when he pulled out an engagement ring, she knew he was serious. He must’ve been carrying it around for months.

They hadn’t thought about having kids because of their life. They had dreams and hopes for starting a family, and they had talked about a lot. They wanted kids, Dean never thought he’d ever get to think like that but once Lilah came into his life, he knew it could be possible. Once they found the Bunker a few after they got married, they had the conversation again. Dean vowed if they did have a baby that he would only go on cases closer to the Bunker, and Lilah vowed that she would only join them when they needed more than just him and Sam. Dean and Sam would go on the local cases, and Sam would team up with Eileen when they needed to go further away.

They technically weren’t trying, but they were… trying. For a while, nothing happened. Lilah was getting frustrated with every false pregnancy test she got. She knew that Dean was disappointed every time she told him, he didn’t need to say anything because his face said everything as he reassured her that everything would work out and they needed to keep trying. Then one day… it just happened. She was feeling sick; she took several tests and she was pregnant. She thought she had seen Dean happy plenty of times, but none of that compared to his elation when she told him she was having a baby. Hisbaby. His smile wider than she had ever seen it, his eyes shining with tears as he took her in his arms and spun her around. They were both over the moon, as was Sam and everyone else they knew when they told them.

9 months after that and they had their beautiful little girl. Charlotte Mary Winchester, named after both their mothers, and while Charlie is just a natural nickname for Charlotte, they felt it was even more appropriate when they met the bubbly redhead and she almost immediately became a part of their family. She often come to the Bunker and spend a few nights every now and then.

Now, at age 6 Charlie had everything in her life that Dean hadn’t since he was that young. There were a few things they couldn’t particularly do, like get a house, but those were the sacrifices they had to make in order to make sure she was always safe. The Bunker was the safest place that they could be.

Dean kissed down the length of Lilah’s neck, nipping at her collarbone as her hands roamed up and down his smooth back. She moaned into ear as she pushed against him, rolling him onto his back. She straddled his lap as she leaned down and kissed him.

She sat up and smiled down at him. “Just stop for a sec?”

“Okay. What’s up?” he asked, curiously.

“I’ve got something for you” she said, smiling.

He smirked, raising his eyebrows suggestively. “I thought you were already giving me something just now.”

She playfully smacked his chest as she shook her head. “Would you stop. Be serious.”

He laughed as he took her hand and kissed it. “Okay, I am. I swear.”

“Good” she said, and leaned over to the drawer in the nightstand. She took out something and kept it hidden from Dean, as he sat up with her still in his lap. “Close your eyes.”

“Lilah, come on” Dean groaned.

“No, just trust me” she smiled.

He sighed and shook his head, closing his eyes. She took his hand in his and placed something in his palm. She felt his callouses from years of hunting against her smooth hands and continued to smile.

“Okay, open them” she said.

Dean opened his eyes and looked at her with an exasperated expression, before he looked down at his hand. His eyes went wide as he saw what Lilah had placed there. Not one, not two, but three pregnancy tests. All positive.

“A-again?” he stuttered. He looked up at her, his green eyes looking at her with shock. “You’re… you’re pregnant again?”

She nodded as her smile grew wider. He smiled as wide as her because a content laugh burst from him. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into a hug. They were wrapped tightly around each other, as Lilah felt a few tears drop onto her neck from where Dean had placed his head.

“I love you” he whispered. He pulled back to look at her, not caring about the way in which he was shedding his emotions. “So much.”

“I love you, too” she said, leaning in and kissing him.

They never thought they would find this kind of happiness in their lives, but they were forever thankful they took a chance when everything was telling them not to.

All the years of fear and heartache was finally swept away, leaving nothing but love and joy behind.
