Chapter Text
Namjoon has only ever felt like a fool twice in this profession as an artist. The first time was when he called Bang Shi Hyuk “Appa” during a board meeting and the second one was an hour ago in the presence of all his members and staff.
A short list, but a list nonetheless.
And yeah, as he watched the numbers flash in the elevator while he waited for his floor, Namjoon seemed to think the title of fool was a perfect fit for him given his circumstances at the moment.
Sighing as he rubbed the back of his neck to relieve some tension, his scent of marigold and raspberry quickly filling the small space, Namjoon regarded back to what happened earlier; the remnants of embarrassment still singing in his veins as he tried to understand how he’d been so wrong.
He remembered the concert, the lights, and the frenzied crowd; remembered sinking into the energy, the sea of people around him as he danced across the stage without a care in the world as the wind whipped around him, and how his members laughed and moved like they knew each choreography in their sleep.
It’d only been two hours, the setlist being impossibly packed but somehow still too short but Namjoon remembers how he felt, his tension fading as he grew high on the scents coming off the people in waves. Their fans had been so happy; nothing but joyful, and content Alphas, Betas, and Omegas as far as the eye could see. There hadn't been a single bad vibe in the crowd and Namjoon wished he could go back in time and dive right back into that wondrous sea of people; his body seeming to yearn for such simplicity and indulgence he so rarely came across these days.
But music and cheers aside, what seemed to be burned into Namjoon’s skin from the minute the concert started, was the set of golden-hued eyes that had stared at him throughout the night as they sang to the crowd together.
Shivering at the memory, Namjoon could still see Hoseok's burning gaze on him; The Alpha’s gaze seemed to mock him even now as Namjoon's elevator finally came to a stop on his empty floor.
Stepping out into the corridor with his gaze trained on the ground, Namjoon thought back to the many ways Hoseok had touched him that night. He found it hard not to, especially with the way the well-known dancer had come up behind him and moved them to the rhythm of each song with a tight grip on his hips. Chest growing tight as the ghost of the Alpha’s hands still lingered on his skin, Namjoon blinked slowly as the thick scent of plum and chocolate clung to him even now; his mind a mess as he slowly made his way down the hall.
He’d been so sure by the time the concert had come to an end; had been so affected and flustered and ready to risk it all for the heart-shaped smile he’d seen all night.
But now as he reached his door, Namjoon couldn't understand how he’d been so oblivious to what had been happening around him.
Sighing heavily as he swiped his room key and pushed his door in to walk into the dark and empty room, Namjoon recalled back to how they had finished tonight's concert. In his mind, he could still see the crowd as clear as day; could still hear the fireworks, and watch the blackened screens blink to life with exit instructions as their little room descended into the stage.
But what Namjoon remembered the most out of his entire night, was the way Hoseok had sat across from him eyeing him like a piping hot meal; their gazes meeting more than once as Namjoon had felt heat course through him.
And as much as he hated it now, Namjoon knew he wasn't forgetting that any time soon.
Eyes feeling heavy as he shook his head, Namjoon walked towards his bed and shrugged off his layers; an instant shiver coursing through him as he suddenly remembered Hoseok's smirk once they'd been safely out of view. Eyes snapping shut, Namjoon could swear the Alpha was still before him; Hoseok’s dark hair clinging to his sweat-slicked skin making Namjoon shiver as the Alpha had chuckled breathlessly before leaning forward to be closer to Namjoon’s frame. Inhaling deeply, Namjoon could only focus on the Alpha's scent; his senses quickly overwhelmed as Hoseok had eyed Namjoon closely.
“Long day Joonie?” He’d whispered into the small space between them, his deep rasp making goosebumps bloom on Namjoon’s skin as he’d gulped under the other's gaze and sheepishly nodded in response; his face quickly growing into a lit flame as he’d tried to keep his scent in check for his Omega’s sake.
Frown pulling at his lips as he checked his surroundings now, Namjoon figured he’d never stood a chance from the start.
Not by a long shot.
“So anything planned for tonight?” Hoseok had asked him after a while and Namjoon had only coughed and sheepishly explained to the Alpha that his night consisted of nothing but last-minute adjustments to upcoming tracks and maybe a movie or two before falling asleep.
Frowning as Namjoon had finished explaining, Hoseok had only hummed in response and gestured for Namjoon to follow him; the stage having stopped descending a while ago as they’d waited for staff and the rest of the members to pile out and head to the artist’s lounge located behind the stage.
Thinking back to this moment, Namjoon wished that was where the conversation had stopped.
But as Namjoon relived the memory of what happened earlier, he realized there was no use in avoiding it.
Namjoon had simply been doomed from the moment the music had stopped playing.
A shame he’d taken so long to realize it.
“So Seokie, what'd you have planned for tonight?” Namjoon had muttered bravely once they’d begun to walk down the narrow walkway towards the artist's lounge; the sound of the member’s voices echoing off in the distance beaconing the pair forward as they'd slowly made their way towards them.
Smirking as he’d shoved his hands into his ripped jean pockets, Hoseok had turned his way and gave Namjoon a coy look; a mischievous glint in his gaze as he’d leaned in a little closer to make sure Namjoon could hear.
“Well...I was thinking of visiting a pretty little Omega tonight but I haven't asked him yet...” he had whispered heatedly and Namjoon could have sworn on everything he owned that his scent had almost flooded the hall as he’d shivered and halted where he’d stood.
God, Hoseok could be so bold when he wanted to be.
It was a trait Namjoon had quickly grown to behold.
Coming to a stop as he stood beside Namjoon’s still form with that same coy look still on his face, Hoseok giggled and nudged the Omega with his shoulder; his laughter filling the hallway as Namjoon had struggled to control his pheromones from sinking into the air around them. Practically reeking at that point, Namjoon couldn't be more surprised when he managed to remain calm; his heart racing as he gulped and stuttered a small and curious response to break the sudden tension between them
“A-anyone I know?” the Omega had stuttered once he’d been able to find his voice again, a whimper threatening to spill past his lips as Hoseok had stood tall and beautiful before him.
Chuckling softly as his smile had grown wider, Hoseok tilted his head as if in deep thought.
“Oh yeah definitely. He’s smart, cute, a little clumsy...even danced with him all night actually,” Hoseok cooed and Namjoon had blushed furiously as he’d watched Hoseok pull away with a chuckle; a smirk dawning on the dancer's lips as he muttered a soft ‘cute’ under his breath before turning back towards the noise at the end of the hall.
Blinking rapidly as he’d watched Hoseok walk out in front of him, Namjoon could only exhale deeply before finally managing to make it to the lounge where the others had gathered; the tables already spread out and full of foods and drinks for the exerted Alpha’s and Omega’s waiting for them to arrive.
Letting out a huff as he relived the memory, Namjoon remembers how their arrival had not gone unnoticed.
Not by a long shot.
“Nice of you to make it,” Jimin had taunted as soon as they’d walked into the room but Namjoon had paid the Alpha little mind as he’d gone straight to the table to grab a drink of cool water; his skin just as feverish on the inside as he’d been on the outside.
And gods, he’d been nervous; so nervous his skin had been tingling with anticipation.
Had Hoseok really wanted to see him tonight? Was he being serious when he teased him out in the hall? God if he was...if this meant what Namjoon actually thought it meant then boy was Namjoon in for a big night.
Shivering where he stood, Namjoon couldn’t help but conjure up images of Hoseok in his bed; the Alpha’s scent mixing into his sheets a desire he needed met almost immediately. Cursing as his knees had threatened to buckle, Namjoon inhaled sharply as he pictured Hoseok scenting him fully; his Omega almost howling as he wondered how it’d feel to bask in the Alpha’s sweet and powerful scent.
“Jesus..” Namjooon huffed out, his hand clutching the table for support as he’d shaken the thoughts from his heat-riddled mind. He couldn't think of those things right now, he couldn't let the heat get to him like this; not in public or in front of the others. He’d known better; knew the risks of allowing his Omega to run wild like this. So as the noises around him had come back full force, Namjoon had cleared his throat and forced himself to finish the bottle in his hand; his members idly making conversation behind him as he tossed the item away before turning to join them on the couches a few feet away.
It was then that Namjoon finally noticed Hoseok sitting with Yoongi, the pair having sat much closer than usual as Namjoon silently regarded them as he’d grown near. Gingerly taking a seat next to Seokjin, Namjoon had remained silent as the other Alphas around him paid him no mind; their conversations still going as Namjoon had eyed the couple closely.
And really, Namjoon had tried to listen; had tried his best to slowly blend into the conversation but found himself unable to focus as he’d watched the pair the longer time dragged on; the air thick with pheromones but unable to hide the bittersweet plum and chocolate of Hoseok’s scent as he’d laughed and shifted closer to Yoongi’s frame.
Shifting beside him as his attention was caught by the strong scent of sour raspberries and marigolds, Seokjin had been the first to notice the Omega starting to bristle; his brows furrowing with concern as he’d called Namjoon's name.
“Joonie? You ok?” He’d asked softly once Namjoon turned his way and the confusion in his hyungs voice had been enough to pull Namjoon out of whatever trance he’d succumbed to; his eyes going wide as he’d turned towards the Alpha and noticed how the group had fallen silent. Mouth growing dry as six pairs of waiting eyes had looked at him closely, Namjoon had hurried for a response; a smile soon plastered on his lips as he turned to reassure the group before him.
“Oh, I-I’m ok hyung, just tired after today,” he’d answered softly, and thankfully Seokjin hadn’t pried any further; the Alpha only nodded and patted his leg reassuringly before turning back towards the others. Soft lull of voices picking back up in the room, Namjoon took the time to watch the others closely; his mind wandering off every now and then as the night grew darker outside. Eyes soon growing heavy with sleep, Namjoon yawned as he began to wonder if he should head in soon; his body yearning for his bed as he stifled a second yawn.
Shuffling forward as he made up his mind, Namjoon moved to stand on his feet; his lips parting slowly as he took a breath to voice his goodbyes.
Or that is, until a soft and flowery scent quickly caught his attention and all sense of sleep he’d had seemed to immediately slip from his mind.
And then, like a fog sweeping over a valley, the smell of cherries and hyacinth filled the air; Namjoon’s chest quickly grew tight as he’d realized with a start just where the scent had been coming from.
Eyes pulling away from where he’d been watching Jimin talk about his set, Namjoon turned toward his right and landed his gaze on the pair sitting across from him; the unmistakable sweet scent of Omega arousal hitting him straight on as he’d caught sight of Yoongi's pink-tinted cheeks from across the room.
More devastating though, was the way Hoseok had been scenting the blushing Omega shamelessly; the Alpha’s nose buried deep in the Omega's scent gland as he’d busily whispered things Namjoon couldn’t and didn't want to hear.
Almost immediately, Namjoon had felt his face burn with embarrassment; his scent growing bitter as he’d quickly ripped his eyes away from the couple to try and focus on the words floating around him. Gulping as he’d tried to calm his scent, Namjoon fought the urge to cry as he felt like the world's biggest idiot. Chest burning, his emotions threatening to bubble to the surface, Namjoon had had no choice but to grow mute from what he’d seen.
It was then that Namjoon had tried to figure out where he’d gone wrong, his mind running at full speed as he tried to make sense of what had just happened. Maybe he’d mistaken the Alpha’s actions for something more or maybe Hoseok had just simply been trying to be friendly.
But whatever the reason, Namjoon quickly learned he was not the only one who’d noticed the pair amidst their hushed mumblings; the room soon falling silent as a scoff had suddenly rung loudly through the air.
“God, get a room you two, you’re stinking up the hall,” Taehyung had chimed in from his spot near the food table, his nose scrunched up in disgust as he’d swatted away the scent of arousal and tried to eat his bagel in peace. It was then that laughter echoed throughout the room, the others quickly joining in as they teased the two smirking members before them. Rolling his eyes as he smiled wide, Hoseok basked in the jeers as Yoongi blushed hard beside him; the Alpha's scent growing stronger as he suddenly pulled Yoongi closer to his side.
From across the room, Namjoon felt his stomach drop.
God, he’d been so sure he was going to be sick.
Somehow, Namjoon found the strength to persist, even if it’d taken every ounce of patience he’d ever had.
“Please, weren’t you just eye-screwing the hell out of Jin during Daeng tonight, you hypocrite?” Hoseok teased back after a pause and the room roared with laughter as Taehyung had suddenly choked on his snack; his face growing red as he turned to curse loudly at the Alpha. From his seat on the couch, Namjoon cursed as he felt the room start to spin.
He needed to get out of there and fast.
And that's exactly what he did.
“Hey guys, I’m going to head out already, feeling sleepy,” he'd mumbled as he'd shot up from his seat; his limbs having cried out in protest as he’d moved towards the door after regarding his members with a tired smile. Nodding before bidding the Omega goodbye, the others soon decided to head out as well; the room soon filled with noise as they began to move and look for their belongings.
Sighing as his pack members began to pair off into groups, Namjoon had taken the time to turn back to look into the room. It was then he’d noticed Hoseok now sitting alone; Yoongi somewhere off with Jungkook as they'd discussed something lowly between themselves. Frowning as he took in the mostly empty room, Namjoon took a deep breath before deciding to walk towards the Alpha; his internal dialogue nothing but chaos as he’d taken a few steps and stopped before Hoseok's feet.
It had been the first time he’d ever done something so bold and yet he hoped it wouldn't be the last.
“Hey ’Seok, can I talk to you real quick?” The Omega had asked timidly after gathering himself, his face seeming to flush as he’d met the Alpha’s gaze. Soft brown eyes meeting his own, Namjoon swooned as Hoseok smiled up at him; the Alpha pocketing the phone he’d been rapidly texting on to quickly stand on his feet and stand by Namjoon’s side.
“Sure Joonie! C’mon, we can talk while I walk you to the car,” he said loudly and Namjoon missed the way the others looked in their direction; the air seeming to shift as the Alphas and Omegas smirk at each other before moving aside to give them space.
Nerves shaking Namjoon's frame as he felt Hoseok slide in right beside him, the two walked slowly side by side as they started heading out together. From this distance, the Alpha’s scent was as intoxicating as it was overwhelming; the close proximity keeping Namjoon on edge as he fought to hold himself up by willpower alone. Knees threatening to buckle as the urge to submit thrums deep inside him, Namjoon did his best to shake it off. Taking a deep breath as he tried to listen to the words Hoseok was uttering beside him, Namjoon felt his mind clearing just enough for him to register the Alpha's soft voice lulling against the walls.
It's a sound he can and will probably never forget.
Not that he ever wants to anyway.
“...and then Jungkook said I couldn't do the trick from MAMA during practice today and I shit you not, Joon-ah, I felt satisfied giving him the finger upside down,” Hoseok huffed out as they reach the end of the hall, his laughter making a wide smile bloom on Namjoon’s face as the pair wheezed at their antics earlier that day. Namjoon could still remember the maknae's face, Hoseok's mischievous smirk just as dazzling as it was upside down as if he were upright. Laughing beside him, Namjoon wondered if there was ever a time when Hoseok couldn't make him burst out laughing or put a smile on his face.
As they saw their car start to pull up in the distance, Namjoon hoped he was not about to find out.
“Hey, so what’d you wanna talk about? Something bothering you?” Hoseok asked suddenly as the vehicle pulled up right before them, their driver soon coming out of their seat to make space for them to pile in. Smile quickly morphing into a pensive expression, Namjoon took a deep breath before turning towards the Alpha, his entire being seeming to vibrate like a live wire as he boldly caught Hoseok's gaze.
It was then the Omega knew it was now or never. It was then that Namjoon knew if he was ever going to be bold, then now would be the time to be so.
This was what he’d been waiting to do all night, so biting the bullet as he cleared his throat, Namjoon looked straight at the Alpha and finally uttered the words he’d been dying to say all night.
“Hoseok-ah...I know it's a bit out of nowhere but….what I wanted to talk to you about….or what I wanted to ask is umm….do you...Do you want to spend the night with me, Alpha?” Namjoon asked timidly as his face flushed a soft and pretty pink and finally there it was; the question he’d been burning to ask now out in the open and hanging heavily between them. Chest tight as he held his breath, Namjoon couldn't believe he’d found the will to push the words out of his own mouth but here he was and Namjoon couldn't be more proud of himself.
Unfortunately, the rush was horribly short-lived; the Alpha's confused expression sending ice through Namjoon's veins as he felt the world come to a screeching halt around him.
“Spend..the night? As in...together?” Hoseok stuttered as he tried to understand what Namjoon was asking, his mouth turning into a frown as he turned to face Namjoon while the car stalled before them. The Alpha swore he’d heard Namjoon clearly and yet, he couldn't quite understand what Namjoon was asking for.
Eyes cast in doubt as his brow furrowed, Hoseok watched as the pink on Namjoon’s cheeks deepened and his smile began to falter; the Omega's confidence beginning to waver the longer they stood eyeing each other with no words spoken between them.
Clearing his throat as he now smiled nervously, Namjoon tried his best to emphasize exactly what he was asking for.
It was a shame it did nothing to make the tension any better.
“Uh...yes, together. I was wondering if..if you wanted to spend it with me...in that way, Alpha,” Namjoon tried again as he emphasized his words, and this time, Hoseok heard him loud and clear; his eyes growing wide as he struggled to find the words to answer such a sudden and surprising request.
Watching the Alpha stutter, Namjoon finds himself wishing the ground would open up and swallow him whole but sadly, he's not granted any such mercy.
“Oh-oh! Namjoon I-...I’m- I don’t know what to say um…”
With a million things running through his mind with an equal amount of emotions rushing through his veins, Namjoon waited patiently as Hoseok chuckled humorlessly; the Alpha’s face flushing the smallest amount of red as he looked at anything but in Namjoon's direction. Shifting his weight from one foot to the other, Hoseok coughed loudly before finally meeting Namjoon's gaze again, his eyes apologetic if not full of pity as he regarded Namjoon quietly.
Heart quickly sinking in his chest like a weighted stone, Namjoon didn’t have to guess what that look meant; not when he’d seen it a million times before in his life. Bracing himself for words he no longer wanted to hear, Namjoon waited for Hoseok to speak and say what he already knew.
“Namjoon, I’m flattered, really but I…I can't. Me and Yoongi were actually going to…um..meet up later and...and well-,” stuttering as he watched Namjoon’s smile slowly vanish from his face, Hoseok fell quiet as the Omega’s features morphed into regret. Cursing internally as Namjoon’s scent grew bitter, Hoseok frowned as he felt a sudden wave of shame and awkwardness rake through him; his mind looking for something to say as he tried to understand where the sudden request had come from.
After all these years of knowing each other and living together, Namjoon had never once made himself available like this to anyone in the pack, so why now?
And most importantly, why him?
Hoseok knew the Omega was shy, knew he had taken longer to open up to them as time went on but never had Namjoon ever been so outright as to ask any of them to spend their nights with him. In all his years of knowing him, Namjoon had never given off any indication that he wanted any sort of intimacy with him or any of the members, and yet….here Namjoon was.
Asking Hoseok for something he wasn’t in the position to give him at the moment.
And God, did he feel like such an ass but what else was Hoseok supposed to do?
The answer escaped him as the silence stretched between them.
Shoulders falling as he suddenly chuckled humorlessly, Namjoon broke the silence as he realized just how much of a bad idea this entire thing had been. It’d been a stupid, completely foolish, and horrible idea to have gone through with but fuck....might as well finish what he started no?
Seeing the way the Alpha was looking at him, Namjoon figured it couldn’t get any worse than it already was now.
But like always, the world had a funny sense of humor and Namjoon soon finds himself as the butt of the joke.
“Oh um...I didn’t…I didn’t know you two were..a thing-” Namjoon tried to say carelessly as he kicked his feet slowly but Hoseok saw right through his act, the Alpha’s voice seeming to rise as he tried to explain what was going on between him and the other Omega in their group.
At this point, Namjoon wasn’t sure if he wanted to hear it but still, he let Hoseok explain as best he could but the Alpha only seemed to make the matter worse the more he spoke.
“Oh no! We're not! It’s just, just sometimes we..y’know...hang out and sometimes stuff...stuff happens,” Hoseok stuttered as he chuckled awkwardly, his hand coming up to rub at his neck nervously as his scent soured and slowly filled the shared space between them.
Wincing as the scent of sour fruit and dark chocolate laced his tongue, Namjoon took a few steps back and nodded as he created distance between them. Brows furrowing as Namjoon grew silent, Hoseok wondered if he’d only made it worse by speaking.
Judging by the way Namjoon seemed to shrink in on himself as he turned towards their waiting car, Hoseok could assume that yeah, he’d made things much worse than before.
“Oh, I see. Well then…it’s ok Hoseok, I understand. Just… .just forget I asked yeah? I didn’t mean to be so bold, just got carried away I guess,” Namjoon spoke humorlessly as he inched further away, his eyes wide but clouded as they searched the parking space for the other member’s cars; his scent no longer rich but small and depleted as he hugged himself to look as tiny as possible. Confusion starting to lace Hoseok's features, the Alpha took a few steps forward as he tried to rectify the situation.
But not even an act of God could fix the mess that had just been created nor could it ease the pain now coursing through Namjoon’s veins as he shifted away from Hoseok’s touch.
“Hey..hey Joonie, you don’t have to apologize, I’m not offended I promise, I just wasn’t expecting you to ask me that tonight. I promise it's nothing against you Joon-ah I just never expected-,”
“Hoseok hyung, it’s ok, I should’ve known. Now please, let’s just forget this whole thing and get in the car yeah? Im…I’m exhausted,” Namjoon breathed out as he cut Hoseok off mid-excuse, his face flushed and downfallen as he ripped his gaze away from Hoseok's surprised expression. Moving before the Alpha could respond, Namjoon turned his attention toward their car and finally opened the door to take his seat. His back now to the stunned Alpha, Namjoon thought it was safe to say it was going to be the worst car ride of his life.
As he slid into his seat, the small and dark space confining him to the back of the car, Namjoon knew he was probably right about his assessment.
“Look at the bright side, at least it wasn’t in front of the others,” Namjoon thought gloomily to himself as he ran a hand through his disheveled hair; his words unable to provide him any comfort as he knew that wasn’t something he could count on to be true. He knew deep down that tomorrow he’d wake up to a flurry of concerned or pitiful inboxes from the others but at the moment Namjoon just simply didn’t care.
He figured it was a problem for tomorrow and for now, he was done for the rest of the night.
Sighing as he waited for the Alpha to climb in after him, Namjoon turned to stare out the dark-tinted window and tried his best to collect himself; his breathing erratic but calming down once he started to count to ten. He prayed his scent wouldn’t sour anymore than it already had and as he felt the car dip with someone else’s weight, Namjoon hoped Hoseok would get the hint and not sit next to him for the remainder of the ride. Because the last thing the Omega needed was to be sat next to the Alpha who had rejected him for the next torturous twenty-minute ride to their hotel.
Sending a silent prayer to the gods in thanks and much to the Omega's relief, Hoseok would get his message loud and clear; the Alpha ultimately choosing to sit near the front of the car as his soured scent quickly filled the small space between them.
It’s the least the Alpha could do after what happened and yet, Namjoon was still grateful for the gesture.
Thankfully breaking the silence after settling in, Hoseok was quick to address the driver
“We're ready, let’s go,” he muttered briskly and before Namjoon could even buckle his seatbelt or gather his bearings, the car abruptly jolted forward; the parking space and venue soon fading away behind him as the vehicle picked up speed before finally pulling out of the lot. Clicking his belt in place after a few minutes of fumbling around, Namjoon released the breath he had no idea he’d been holding. Sinking into the leather behind him, Namjoon took a deep breath and closed his eyes; his world soon conformed to nothing but the small space of the company car's backseat.
It was then the reality of his situation finally set in; his chest growing tight with unleashed emotion as he worked to slow his breathing down.
Trying hard to ignore everything around him, Namjoon does his best to not open his eyes and stare at the Alpha just a few feet away. Feeling proud when he doesn't succumb to the temptation; Namjoon huffs out a scoff and soon begins to let his mind wander.
Or he tries to anyway.
Suddenly taking a sharp turn past the light, the scent of dark chocolate and plums flooded the air; the sudden onslaught taking Namjoon by surprise as he felt every twist and turn their car took towards their hotel. Biting back a whine as he was jostled around, Namjoon closed his eyes and did his best to stay quiet; his lips shut tight as he did what he could to not tip the Alpha off further.
It seemed like an eternity later but finally, as he was on the brink of consciousness, Namjoon felt the car slow down and finally come to a stop before their building. Eyes blinking open as he chased away his sleep, Namjoon moved groggily as the grande bold letters of their hotel shone down on them; their driver quickly pulling into the parkway as he moved to get down and bring in their belongings.
Stifling a yawn as he looked around, Namjoon sat still as he spotted the other members piling into the hotel lobby; their managers bustling around in a frenzy as the men waited to be led to their rooms. Waiting for Hoseok to open the door of their shared vehicle, Namjoon sat in silence as the air in the vehicle grew heavy with tension; the driver soon leaving them on their own as the pair waited for the other to be the first one to step out.
Feeling time start to drag, Namjoon felt his brows furrow as he contemplated saying something to maybe break the silence. But as he shifted awkwardly in his seat, Namjoon found himself staying quiet as the Alpha chose him. Moving before Namjoon could think of what to say next, Hoseok threw the car door open and quickly stepped out of the vehicle; his scent the only thing left behind as Namjoon sat stunned before snapping out of his daze.
Mouth snapping shut as he moved to gather his belongings, Namjoon stayed quiet as he exited the vehicle; his steps falling behind the Alpha as he hurried to make his way inside.
Eyes watering just the slightest, his throat seeming to grow stiff and dry, Namjoon willed himself to not take the entire exchange too personally. He reasoned maybe the Alpha just didn’t know what to say at the moment, since truthfully neither did he.
Collecting himself one last time, his scent growing richer as he tried to repress his feelings, Namjoon took a deep breath as he reached the lobby doors; his band members quickly waving him over as they continued to wait patiently for their rooms.
Smile pulling at his lips as he entered the lobby, Namjoon walked towards the group as he let the tension in his body slowly start to subside.
Thank god for the little things, he hummed.
“What took so long Joon-ah? Got worried you two had gotten lost,” Jimin teased once he reached the front desk, a warm and reassuring smile blooming on his face as he turned toward the Omega in question. Feigning a smile as best as he could, Namjoon chuckled lowly and tried his best to sound tired and not as broken as he felt inside.
“Ah you know me Jiminie, I got lost and made the driver late,” he chuckled and this time, he genuinely smiled a little deeper when the others joined in and laughed; the familiar sounds and scents wrapping around him making him relax as they unknowingly comforted him.
“Aish Joonie, if we weren’t with you always, how would you survive?” Taehyung teased as he ruffled the Omega’s hair and Namjoon swore as he almost broke at the feel of the others’ touch; his chest growing tight as he reasoned that yeah, where would he be if he didn’t have them with him?
Making small talk as they collated their keys and soon headed towards the elevator, Namjoon reasoned that he never wanted to know.
“Well, good thing we get to sleep in our own rooms tonight, I swear if I have to share a bed with Jin hyung again I'd rather sleep outside,” Jungkook laughed as they piled in together, everyone’s laughter bursting as Jin took a swipe at the chuckling Alpha just a few inches away.
“Ungrateful brat, I’d spank you if you didn’t tower over me you giant,” Jin snapped and Namjoon snickered as he leaned against the wall, every inch of his fiber doing its best to avoid focusing on the fact that two members of their group were currently missing.
Of course, Namjoon knew what that meant and sadly the others did too.
Although Namjoon was sure it was only him that hurt the most because of it.
Shaking the thoughts away, Namjoon pushed all that hurt aside and forced himself to indulge in the happiness around him. Minutes ticking by as they joked and bantered, the group moved through the building as they began to depart on the floors they were assigned to. Smiling as he bid each Alpha good night, Namjoon soon realized he was as lucky as they come; the scents of his pack lingering in the small enclosed space comforting him in a way he desperately needed.
It's only after he reaches his own floor and waves to the last of his members that Namjoon realizes how much better he felt if not a little less crushed than before.
He knew he was hurting now, knew it would take him a while to get over what happened but knowing that he wasn’t alone? Knowing that he had the others to hold him when the going got tough?
Well, Namjooon was sure that made everything worthwhile...
And really that’s how Namjoon came to be in his room tonight, his scent filling up the space as he walked around his bed over and over again; his mind a never-ending current of possible ways his night could have gone much better than it had.
Cursing at himself for what seemed the hundredth time that night, Namjoon sighed as he reasoned that he should have known better, should’ve seen how the Alpha hadn’t been interested in him, to begin with. Coming to a stop as he shrugged off his clothes, the smooth fabric falling in a pile at his feet as he changed into something more comfortable, Namjoon reasoned that he should’ve seen the signs and picked up on the other’s movements.
But god he had been so stupid,.... so distracted by his own lustful actions that he’d missed it, and for what? To be humiliated and rejected all in the same night? Scoffing as he shook his head, Namjoon felt his face burn as he suddenly felt like the world's biggest fool; his chest thrumming with embarrassment as his limbs cried for rest but his mind stayed restless as the night grew cold around him.
Groaning as he walked around his room one last time, Namjoon tsked as he shuffled over and finally landed face-first into his well-done mattress, the Omega's only wish at the moment to crawl under a rock and never come back up again. Eyes falling shut as he released a deep breath, Namjoon laid amongst the covers as his self-worth felt too damaged to come back from; the notion of facing the others sending a bolt of shame and embarrassment coursing through him in an instant.
“Should’ve just minded my business,” he mouthed after what seemed like hours of laying in his bed, his limbs aching for rest as he turned on his side and curled in on himself for a semblance of warmth. Blinking slowly as his room darkened under the dark sky overhead, Namjoon suddenly found himself wondering if he would ever have someone to wake up with in his bed.
Mouth pulling into a frown at the sudden thought, Namjoon wondered if he would ever find an Alpha who could understand him enough to know what he needed and liked. Eyes starting to burn as he felt his chest grow tight, Namjoon wondered if he’d ever find an Alpha who could be there when he needed him the most.
And as he whined softly into his covers, Namjoon hated how he thought Hoseok could have fitted the bill but now, as he lay against the cold covers of his bed and watched the sky full of stars blink out as he felt his eyes grew heavy, Namjoon knew the Alpha wasn’t the one for him.
No matter how much he really, really wanted him to be.
Eyes closing as he drifted off to a tired and deepened sleep, Namjoon hoped tomorrow would be a new day, a better day than the one before it. View fading to black as the world around him buzzed with life under the dark skies looming outside, Namjoon hoped things would change ...for better or worse, he just needed a change.
With the stars as his only witness, Namjoon slept as all the while the Omega had no clue just how different things were about to become.
And this time, he wouldn’t be the only one left behind.

The morning after having your heart ripped out and spit on could always be an awkward affair and yet here Namjoon was ready for another full day of work. Call him a fool but Namjoon knew where his priorities lay and they weren't about to change over a small rejection like the one he’d experienced the night before.
Frowning as the coffee in his hand tasted bitter against his tongue, Namjoon knew the word small wasn't even close to what he’d gone through but he knew for his own sake the lie could be forgiven.
Especially now as he felt the weight of every eye in the room boring into him as he sat awkwardly in the dining hall of their hotel's private penthouse lobby, a table of food spread out before him as Namjoon tried his best to look as passive and nonchalant as possible.
Judging by the way the air grew thick with worried pheromones the longer they all sat in silence, Namjoon surmised it probably wasn't working. Shivering as he soon felt his skin grow hotter by the second, Namjoon winced as he shifted hesitantly under the table’s collective gazes.
So much for going on as normal and ignoring the catastrophe that had been his night, the Omega groaned but really what else could he have expected? He knew people talked and with the way Yoongi and Hoseok's absence had been impossible to ignore last night, Namjoon knew the men could put two and two together.
It didn't take a genius to guess what had probably happened. No matter how much Namjoon wanted to desperately ignore it.
Reaching forward to put down his bitter cup of coffee as he shifted higher in his seat, Namjoon chanced a look at the men currently spread around him; their knowing gazes making him frown deeper as he fought to keep his scent under control.
“So…is everyone ready for today?” Namjoon managed to mutter after what felt like an eternity, his eyes averting the gazes now looking his way as he bit the inside of his cheek nervously. He knew they had a long day of sound-checking and dance rehearsals before their second night of Muster but Namjoon needed to desperately fill the silence; the small hum of whispered conversations coming to a stop making him fidget as the men suddenly came to turn their attention towards him.
It was then Namjoon regretted saying anything at all, the look on Seokjin's face as he turned to face him making Namjoon’s insides twist as the Alpha smiled softly his way.
“Yes Joonie, Hyungs ready if you are,” he hummed, and almost instantly, Namjoon knew the Alpha knew what had happened; the pitiful look in Seokjin’s eye hard to miss as Namjoon felt frustration suddenly coursing through him.
Jaw growing tight as he nodded briskly, Namjoon fought the urge to stand from the table; the need to flee from the room growing stronger by the minute as he turned to face the other Alphas seated beside him.
“Hmmm, that's sweet hyung, thank you. How about you guys? Everybody else sleep okay?” he asked as he tried to keep his cool and avoid the obvious elephant in the room, his hands forming into small fists by his side as he caught the scent of lilac and lemon suddenly grow troubled beside him.
And of course, Namjoon knew that scent could only mean one thing.
Head snapping towards where the scent was coming from, Namjoon felt his gaze harden as he turned to catch Jimin's clouded expression; the Alpha's lips pulled into a taut line as he avoided Namjoon’s gaze. It was obvious the Alpha was hiding something if his scent was anything to go off of, but Namjoon knew Jimin wouldn't say anything even if he begged him.
But that wasn't about to stop the Omega even as he cleared his throat loudly.
"Minie? Is everything alright?" He asked gently as he felt the table's attention suddenly shift; the Omega's lips pulled into a frown as he didn't miss the way Jimin's jaw suddenly tensed. Eyes shifting to glance briefly at the room before turning to meet Namjoons own, Jimin shook his head slowly before blinking away his troubled expression.
"Yeah Joonie, never better," he sighed and Namjoon felt his chest grow tight as the air in the room grew thicker than before. It was obvious he was lying to him but Namjoon still felt his skin prickle just the same as he tried and failed to continue on as normal.
And really, as the rest of the men at the table mumbled half-truths about how they'd spent peaceful nights without much happening, Namjoon was sure of only one thing. If Hoseok had been in the room with them at that moment, Namjoon was a hundred percent sure his Omega would’ve throttled the Alpha without a single hesitant thought.
Why?
Well for starters, maybe it was the way the rest of his pack members were treating him that angered Namjoon the most. Maybe it was the way the men seemed to be tiptoeing around something that was nothing to begin with or the way they looked at him with pity as they made the topic of his rejection bigger than it needed to be.
Brows furrowing as Namjoon picked at his long-forgotten plate set before him, Namjoon wondered why the others were trying so hard to shield him from what had already happened.
So what if Hoseok had rejected him? What did it matter if the Alpha and the Omega Hoseok had actually wanted last night weren't anywhere to be seen this late into their morning?
What did any of it matter and more importantly, why was it so important for the rest of his members to try and avoid the things already confirmed to Namjoon last night?
It was clear the Alpha didn't want him, so Namjoon wasn't about to linger on the why for long.
And so, to keep his sanity intact, Namjoon spent the rest of his morning avoiding the stares the men threw his way; his mind elsewhere as their staff soon joined them as they walked into the room to read them their itinerary for the rest of the day.
They were about to go over the changes to that night's setlist when Namjoon felt the urge to speak up again, his lips quirked into a pout as he sat forward to discuss the matter with the Alphas around him. He’d put a lot of thought into the order for that night's muster so it was of the utmost importance for Namjoon to make sure the members knew which song would be replaced with which before they set on rehearsing for the rest of their day.
Clearing his throat as the staff turned to look his way, Namjoon leaned forward as he gestured towards the list of songs on the paper set neatly before him. Quick to give him their attention, Namjoon began as the rest of his pack members hung on his every word.
“Okay guys, I know we had a few adjustments to make to the setlist but I think the choices I made for tonight's set are going to be-,”
“Hey guys sorry we're late, hope we didn't miss much.”
In an instant the room fell silent, the sound of Yoongi’s voice cutting through the air making the words die on Namjoon's lips as the Omega suddenly made his presence known. And dear god, Namjoon couldn't believe what he saw…nor what he smelled as he watched with great horror as Yoongi strolled into the room with an equally disheveled Alpha trailing right behind him.
Attention in the room torn away just as quickly as he’d received, Namjoon watched as his members turned to meet the couple now slowly making their way towards them. Only Namjoon got no time to mask his reaction as suddenly there they were, the missing members of his team and pack soon standing in the room as Namjoon found himself at a loss for words.
Because for the second time in his life, Namjoon found himself wishing for the ground to swallow him whole; the scent of a sated Omega wafting through the room making his own Omega growl with rage as Namjoon felt himself suddenly rooted to the bottom of his seat.
And gods, it was insulting, if not obscene, to see how Yoongi positively glowed; the Omega’s pale, moonlit skin shining brightly as he smirked and moved forward to quickly find a seat at the table. But that wasn't what had Namjoons rampant attention nor what had his skin burning with a hurt so deep he could barely breathe; his hand closing automatically around the stiff paper long forgotten in his grasp.
No, what Namjoon couldn't believe, what he could not fathom to begin to understand were the deep purple marks littering Hoseok's neck as he kept his gaze lowered to the ground; The Alpha's scent of plum and chocolate tinged with cherries and hyacinth making Namjoon wince as he took in the way the dancer slinked quietly into the room.
Lips parted on a broken and soundless gasp, Namjoon failed at finding something…anything to say as the air seemed stuck in his lungs; his thoughts a complete mess as he helplessly watched the pair soon settle into seats around the table.
Thankfully, the rest of his members were quick to jump in for him; Taehyung's smooth voice soon filling the silence as he quirked a curious brow at the men now sitting across from him.
“Nice of you to join us,” he tsked and Namjoon would have snapped at the Alpha for being so direct if it’d been any other circumstance, but given the way he could barely think for himself, Namjoon was willing to let the snap slide.
Not that Yoongi or Hoseok seem affected by it anyway.
“Sorry, got a little….held up last night and decided to sleep in before tonight,” Yoongi chuckled as he sank back into his chair, the collar of his shirt dipping lower than expected on his shoulders as a suddenly red mark made itself visible on the Omegas collarbone.
And suddenly, it was all too much for the flustered Omega; the look on everyone’s faces as they took notice of Hoseok and Yoongi's matching marks making Namjoons head pound double time as he suddenly moved to quickly jump to his feet.
“I think…I think I forgot something upstairs, guys… I’ll… I’ll see you at the stadium for rehearsals tonight,” he spat hurriedly without thinking, his words rushed as Namjoon stuttered and moved to turn on his heel before anyone could keep him from leaving the room.
And then Namjoon was moving; the room's attention soon falling on his back as Namjoon felt the walls begin to spin and his heart beat in his chest like a thousand ringing drums as he began to quickly walk away. He needed to get out of the room, needed to breathe air that didn't smell of the Alpha who had rejected him or of the Omega he had chosen over him.
But if Namjoon had thought his abrupt departure would stop the Alphas from trying to follow him then the Omega had been wrong.
Inadequately so.
“Namjoon-wait!”
“Hey don't go-”
“Joonie hey-”
“Namjoon-ah-”
One after the other, Namjoon listened as he willed himself to keep walking, the Alpha's voices calling out his name making him cringe as he grew nearer to the door. Feet moving on their own as Namjoon held his breath, the Omega ignored the members' cries coming from behind him.
It pained him deeply to ignore their calls but Namjoon knew he had to leave, knew he had to get to a place where there was no one who could hurt him or see the hurt now sinking into his features. He knew that if he stayed, there was no telling what he’d say or do if the wrong person saw him break down.
And Namjoon knew he needed to leave…no matter how much he wanted a certain person to leave with him.
No, Namjoon needed to be alone; needed to comfort the whining Omega currently sinking deeper and deeper inside him.
And as Namjoon practically jogged down the hallways and dove into the elevator before pressing the keys to head to his own private room, there was only one thing he could think of to save himself and his Omega from ever feeling this way ever again.
Eyes growing hooded as he watched as the metal doors ding shut before him, the scents that had followed him finally drifting away as the floors started to blink by, Namjoon knew what it was he’d have to do.
No matter how much it hurt him, Namjoon would have to keep his distance and stay away from the Alpha with the sun-filled smile he’d grown to love oh so much.
But of course, it was the only way and his only option…
And Namjoon was ready to do what he had to.
Even if his heart and his Omega fought him the entire way.

There was an old saying that stated, distance always made the heart grow fonder.
With the way Namjoon felt his chest about to cave in as he came off the stage after their last song of the night, the Omega was beginning to think the person who had first said this had been a complete and total liar.
But of course, Namjoon was going off emotion alone; his mood slightly affected after the day he’d had after his morning debacle. If the Omega had thought the second night of their Muster celebration could have gone on as usual, then Namjoon had been disappointed to find out he had been terribly mistaken.
What was supposed to be a night of carefree joy and freedom for the Omega had turned out to be nothing but a mess of avoidance and frustrating changes; Namjoon’s entire time spent on stage avoiding certain members he couldn't stand the sight of without forgetting his lyrics or specific steps in his choreography.
He was tired and frustrated but most of all Namjoon was over the entire ordeal entirely; his desire to crawl under the biggest rock and stay there forever growing bigger by the minute as Namjoon felt himself stumble and practically crawl his way backstage.
But the concert hadn't been the only taxing thing he’d done that day, the memory of their time spent rehearsing coming to the front of his mind as Namjoon sighed and took a second to lean against the cool corridor wall.
As he’d feared after he’d managed to escape his horrible encounter that morning, Namjoon had come to suffer more than once that day as rehearsals had been a total nightmare.
Whether it was avoiding Hoseok's lingering stares or the vibrant marks littering Yoongi's body as the Omega moved around the stage, Namjoon had done his best to keep his distance. But God had it been a struggle to hold his emotions at bay as the men had danced and grown closer the longer they'd practiced on stage.
And sooner than later, Namjoon hadn't been able to take it; his scent growing bitter and betraying his emotions as he’d chosen to ignore the men and focus his attention elsewhere lest his thoughts get the better of him before their big show that night.
But of course, the Omega's mood had not gone unnoticed by the rest of his pack. Not that it ever did really.
Sharing troubled looks between each other as they’d gone through endless soundchecks and dance rehearsals, the Alphas had kept a close eye on Namjoons movements; the Omega soon growing frustrated as he’d tried to ignore their rampant attention as he shuffled awkwardly around the stage.
His mind had been too occupied to focus, his worries and fears growing wild as he thought of ways to prevent any type of situation that could hinder their performance later on during their night.
He’d been in the middle of recounting his steps to the chorus of ‘Jump’ by the edge of the stage when the Omega had finally decided to call it quits for the day; that same scent from earlier of hyacinth and plum drifting in the wind making Namjoon stumble as he’d stopped mid-chant as he’d tried his best to ignore where the scent was coming from.
Of course, Namjoon knew what it was and who it was coming from but that didn't mean the Omega had to acknowledge it…..
Nor did he have to stay in the same place as the scent grew thicker in the air the longer he stayed on stage.
And so Namjoon had left his rehearsals early that day just like he’d skipped out on their morning meeting; his skin crawling with nerves as he’d spent the rest of their practice time hiding in the make-up department until it’d finally been time for the pack to get dressed for another sold out night in Seoul.
Pushing his troubles to the back of his mind as he laid back and let his makeup artists do their magic, Namjoon had let himself forget his worries as he’d soon sunk under the thrum of the now waiting crowd.
But of course, that had only helped him for so long; the rest of the Omegas night spent avoiding that same taunting scent and lingering, troubled looks as he tried to immerse himself in the crowd that had so desperately wanted to see him.
And gods, It had all been so overwhelming…the crowd, the chants, the music, the yearning, and the nerves….Namjoon didn’t know how he even got through it all. Only knew he managed to complete the set without a hitch as he slapped a smile on his face and stood next to his members before bowing and thanking the crowd for coming out for the last song of the night.
Which of course brought Namjoon to where he currently found himself now; the Omega breathing shallowly as he leaned against the cool brick wall and tried to catch his breath in the quiet and empty backstage corridor.
Standing there for what felt like hours but what had probably been a few couple of minutes, Namjoon let his breathing slow down as he slowly regained his composure. Scents of marigold and raspberry slowly drifting out in small waves as Namjoon felt his eyes soon grow heavy, the Omega shifted where he stood and slowly pushed away from the wall to once again pick up his pace.
Limbs beginning to ache with that all too familiar after-concert fatigue, Namjoon did his best as he shuffled forward; the entrance to the artist's lobby just a few feet away as the sound of his pack member's voices slowly drifted towards him as he made his way down the hall.
Stifling a yawn as he thought of what he’d be eating later once he got to his hotel, Namjoon winced as he finally came to a stop outside the artist lobby; the sound of Alphas conversing inside making him stop for a second as he hesitated briefly outside the door.
Worry blooming over his features, Namjoon wondered if he should even make his way inside.
It seemed he couldn't help but worry about the possibility of last night's events repeating themselves; his fear making him pale as he stood idly outside the doorway.
Because really, what could he do if he walked in on Hoseok scenting Yoongi again?
What could Namjoon do if he walked in and couldn’t find either Alpha or Omega like he’d missed them the night before?
Doubt pulling at the corners of his mouth as the seconds ticked by, Namjoon took a deep breath and shook his head to clear the troubling thoughts away. It was useless to get hung up on the what-ifs, especially when Namjoon knew there was no need to worry about things that were really none of his concern.
So moving forward as he stepped over the threshold, Namjoon ignored his fears and finally made his way inside; the room comforted him immediately as the air was filled to the brim with the scents he knew like the back of his hand.
Only as Namjoon slowly made his way into the room, there was one scent that quickly caught his Omega's attention; the scent of petrichor and sea salt making him hum as he came to a stop beside the couches the Alphas were currently lounging on.
“...Gosh, one of you smells so good,” he muttered absentmindedly and Namjoon could swear his eyes had never snapped open faster as he realized with a start what it was he’d just muttered to the room full of Alphas.
And dear god...Namjoon knew this couldn't lead to anything good.
With the way the conversation stopped as soon as the words left his lips, Namjoon was sure his assessment could only be a hundred percent correct.
Feeling his cheeks burn as he felt the room's attention suddenly turn towards him, Namjoon took a step back as he took in the way the members were looking at him; their expressions a few mixtures of concern and intrigue as he chuckled nervously and tried hurriedly to wave away his sudden confession.
“Oh..my bad guys, don't mind me I'm just….tired I guess,” he spat out as he stuttered through his explanation, the scent of marigolds and raspberries suddenly flooding the room as he noticed how the Alphas shifted from where they were sitting.
And as Namjoon smiled softly and tried his best to not turn the deepest shade of red known to man, the Omega took in the Alphas spread out throughout the room and noticed the biggest surprise of his night.
Lounging near the back of the room with his back resting against the wall, Hoseok sat with his arms crossed tightly over his chest; the Alpha’s jaw set tight as he seemed to glare in Namjoon’s general direction.
Only now as his eyes swept briefly across the room, Namjoon noticed how a certain Omega was currently missing from the Alpha's side; the scent of hyacinth and cherries curiously absent from the room as Namjoon blinked away the confusion inching to settle over his features.
And oh dear was the realization quite a surprise. One Namjoon didn't know how to really process as he’d unfortunately grown used to the pair regularly clinging to each other for the past few days.
Smile faltering for the briefest second, Namjoon began to wonder where Yoongi could possibly be; his face not among the crowd as Namjoon felt Hoseok's glare seemingly follow his every move.
Ripping his gaze away from where the Alpha was sitting, Namjoon turned towards an empty spot on the couch before he could let himself dwell on what the dancers’ heated glare could mean.
But the Omega didn’t get to go far, his movements seemingly interrupted as a deep voice suddenly called his name and brought him back to the matter at hand.
“....Joonie? Are you feeling ok? You look pretty flushed tonight bub.”
Eyes turning to land on the Alpha calling his name, Namjoon felt his lips form into a pout as he met Taehyung's soft and concerned stare; the Alpha’s scent of lavender and sage making him sigh deeply as he smiled softly at the Alpha before slowly shaking his head.
“No Tae, I'm fine, I promise. Just tired from tonight, I guess,” he mumbled hoping to brush the matter aside. But with the way Seokjin leaned forward in his seat to point a finger in his direction, Namjoon knew he wasn't about to get off the hook that easily.
“Oh no no no Joon. Don't think hyungs forgot what you said so fast Omega,” he teased, the Alpha’s scent of smoke and rosewood growing richer in the room as Seokjin smiled wide at Namjoon’s embarrassed reaction.
And gods, Namjoon had almost forgotten; the words that had slipped from his lips ringing loudly in his ears as he raised a hand to quickly shield his burning cheeks from view.
Because really, Namjoon still couldn't believe he’d let his instincts get the best of him; the scent overpowering his reason as the smell of petrichor and sea salt hovered over him like a luring and intoxicating cloud.
Shaking his head as he felt his Omega purr after another wave washed over him, Namjoon squirmed as the group began to tease him; their chants and jests making him chuckle and scoff as they each began to seek a claim over the Omega's sheepishness.
It all came to an end once the Alphas finally grew impatient, their pouts making Namjoon smile wide as he gestured for them to let the matter go entirely.
Only letting things go didn't seem to be the easiest thing to do in the Bangtan pack, if the men's protests were anything to go by.
“C’mon Joonie, just tell us…who’s got you so bothered, hmm?”
Rolling his eyes as Jimin teasingly smirked his way, Namjoon let his head fall back as he released a playful sigh; his scent of marigolds and raspberries growing sweeter by the second as he basked in the refreshing and comforting attention.
Shaking his head as he moved to rest against the armrest where the Alphas sat, Namjoon cleared his throat and leaned in closer; the soft glow of the lights hanging above casting him in a gentle light as he finally surrendered before the group.
“......Do you really want to know?” He drew out slowly and Namjoon would be lying if he said he didn't enjoy the way each Alpha's attention was glued to his every word; their enthusiastic nods and exclaims making him fidget as he felt like a star beneath their eyes.
Enjoying the way their scents began to swarm around him, Namjoon rejoiced in the fun he had found in the suspense he was causing; his chest finally feeling lighter after experiencing what had probably been the worst two days of his life.
So feeling his shoulders relax as his lips parted with a dramatic sigh, Namjoon crossed his arms over his chest and finally turned towards the Alpha that was causing him such distress; those big, star-filled eyes making him blush even harder as Namjoon came face to face with the Alpha that smelled like cool rain poured over a crisp ocean shore.
“Then maybe you should all ask Jungkook yourself then, it’s not my fault he smells amazing tonight,” he tsked and Namjoon couldn't hold in his laughter as the room erupted into chaos; the men’s groans and cries of protest making Namjoon smile deeply as he watched Jungkook's eyes grow wide with surprise.
And really, how could Jungkook not be the one making Namjoons’ Omega so crazy? The scent of freshly fallen rain was one of Namjoon's favorites, the ocean one of his most loved places he liked to visit on days when his mind felt too big for his own shoulders.
Ever since he’d walked into the room, Namjoon had been fighting a losing battle; the urge to nuzzle right into the Alpha's side growing by the minute as Namjoon had felt his limbs grow weak and his Omega started to yearn for the other's comfort.
Because honestly, it made total sense.
Namjoon’s Omega was overwhelmed, depleted and possibly holding on to the last thread of its sanity; It made complete sense it would seek out the comfort Namjoon knew Jungkook could provide him.
And as the scent of rain and sea breeze made his Omega shiver from where he sat, Namjoon decided it was finally time to stop fighting it; a sigh softly escaping his lips as he suddenly rose to his feet and let himself be led across the room on pure instinct alone.
Slowly shuffling towards where Jungkook was currently sitting, Namjoon kept walking until he came to a stop before the silent singer; his body moving on its own as Namjoon nodded towards the empty seat conveniently next to the man lounging beneath him.
Lips moving before he could even think things through, Namjoon let his voice echo throughout the room; his scent filling the space around him in a sickly sweet wave as Jungkook met his stare head-on.
“Is this seat taken, Alpha?” he whispered lowly, the look on Jungkooks face one he’d never forget as the Alpha nodded and gestured beside him enthusiastically.
“Oh! Yeah!… Yeah, it is, let me just…..there,” words coming out in a hurry as he leaned over to push aside his gym bag, Jungkook cleared the space for the Omega to sit beside him. His own usually flushed cheeks now blooming a deeper shade of pink, Jungkook shifted on the couch as he gestured for Namjoon to join him.
Cheeks growing deep with dimples, Namjoon chuckled as he stared down at the Alpha fondly; his body moving on its own as he moved to plop in the seat next to him.
“Mmmm thank you Jungkookie, sorry if I'm bothering you-” he tried to start as he began to settle in his seat, but Namjoon didn't get to finish; Jungkook’s loud tsk and adjoining headshake making Namjoon falter as the Alpha waved away Namjoon's apology.
“Nonsense Joonie, you could never bother me,” the Alpha hummed as he turned to look at Namjoon directly; the weight of his stare not lost on Namjoon as he smiled bashfully and quickly moved to stare down into his lap.
It seemed no matter how bold he got, at this proximity, Namjoon didn’t stand a chance against Jungkook’s sweet or lulling charm. Not that he gets to experience Jungkook's reassurance for long anyways, he groaned; the room full of Alphas they had forgotten about suddenly filling the air with jeers as they taunted the pair now sitting side by side on their couch.
“Oh, c’mon-”
“Joonie lied when he said he didn't have a favorite-”
“Taehyung don't-”
“No, let him say it, he’s right. Jungkook doesn't smell that good even on a good day,'' Seokjin chimed in after the group had muttered their fill; his words full of mischief as Namjoon felt Jungkook tense and quickly move forward to catch the older Alphas' attention.
“Hey! Take that back! I smell like a dream, right Joonie?” he spat as he glanced at the Omega by his side and Namjoon chuckled as he sat beside the Alpha as Jungkook began to go back and forth with the other members; their boo’s and collective groans echoing loudly in the room as Jungkook scoffed at their taunts while Namjoon laughed loudly beside him.
To no one's surprise but his own, it wasn’t long before Namjoon suddenly found himself curled around the Alpha's side as Jungkook's arm rested protectively over his shoulders; their bodies pushed together as they basked in each other's warmth the longer they spent on the couch.
And honestly, Namjoon doesn't know how they got here but he wasn't about to change a thing.
It was peaceful resting against the Alpha's broad chest, the feel of Jungkooks body against his own making Namjoons eyes grow heavy as time passed by and their night grew longer. Feeling adrift in a stormy cloud, Namjoon let the room slip away from him; the scents of his pack almost lulling him to sleep as the room grew quiet and their staff finally began to collect them before leading them to their cars.
Only Namjoon didn’t almost fall asleep, he actually did; the scent of rain the last thing he remembered as his eyes fell shut and the world went quiet around him.
But thankfully, not for long
“Jooooonie….hey Joonieeee, you ready to go pup?”
Soft whispers of his name falling from Jungkook's lips as the Omega stirred from his sleep, Namjoon blinked groggily through the haze and glanced up from where his head rested against the Alpha's chest; his lips twisting into a pout as he narrowed his brows with a slightly confused expression.
“Jungkook? What-where did everyone…go?” he groaned roughly and Jungkook couldn't help the fond grin from growing on his lips; the sight of a pouty and sleep-riddled Namjoon making his chest swell with fondness as he cooed at the Omega in his arms.
Chuckling softly as he shifted on the couch so they could sit up a little straighter, Jungkook turned to face the room and gestured towards the doorway leading to the hall Namjoon had first come through.
“They left Joonie. Or they're about to anyway.” The Alpha hummed, his voice soft and low as Namjoon struggled to blink away the remnants of his sleep as he took in the way the room now sat empty.
And gods, how on earth had Namjoon let himself fall asleep in public so easily?
Stifling a yawn as he slowly pulled himself out of Jungkook's embrace, Namjoon felt his lips pull into a frown as he noticed the absence of the scents that had once swarmed around him; the familiar sense of pack whisked away just as soon as Namjoon managed to come to his senses.
Only when he finally does come to, Namjoon was sure he was far beyond embarrassed.
“Jungkook…why…why didn't you wake me?” the Omega muttered when he could finally think again, his body almost groaning out loud as he turned toward the sheepish Alpha by his side. Tongue feeling heavier than normal, Namjoon does his best to voice his concern; the words struggling to fall from his lips as he felt his brows narrow with confusion.
But thankfully, Jungkook managed to understand him all the same.
“Well…you looked….you looked pretty peaceful Joonie. Didn't want to be the one to wake you,'' Jungkook muttered as he shrugged, his eyes tracing Namjoon's features closely as Namjoon felt his cheeks redden under the Alpha’s gaze for what felt like the hundredth time that night.
It seemed no matter how much he tried to avoid it, the Alpha always had an effect on him; Namjoon’s Omega beginning to stir from its slumber as Jungkook tsked before moving to loom above him.
“C’mon Joonie, let's get you home. No use in you sitting here losing sleep with me, right?” the Alpha hummed, his words making Namjoon smile softly as the Omega watched Jungkook reach out to offer him his hand.
And as Namjoon glanced up at the Alpha that Jungkook had grown to become, Namjoon came to think the embarrassment he felt earlier might have actually been worth it; the look in Jungkook's eyes making Namjoon grow warm on the inside as he reached out to gently take the singers hand.
"Mmm I don't know Kook, I can think of a few Omegas who wouldn't mind losing a couple of sleepless nights with you actually," Namjoon teased as he rose to his feet, his chuckle echoing throughout the room as he suddenly caught the Alpha off guard.
And finally, it was Jungkook's turn to blush at Namjoon's words; the Alphas' shy, lopsided grin making Namjoon buzz from head to toe as they began to move towards the door a few feet away.
And so, as Namjoon took count of his belongings before letting Jungkook lead the way, the pair headed for the car waiting for them outside the arena; their scents of marigold and petrichor filling the air as they began to slowly make their way out into the night.
Wasting no time once they finally got to greet their driver, the pair let their bags be silently put away before jumping into the backseat; the crisp night air making them shiver as they moved to settle onto the car's smooth, leather interior.
“Ready?” Jungkook whispered once they finally managed to buckle in, the driver shifting the car into gear just as Namjoon turned to glance at Jungkook sitting beside him.
“Ready,“ he hummed softly and the pair smiled as they sat side by side, their hands never letting each other go even as the road grew longer and the night grew darker before them.
Making their way to the place they’d called home for the past couple of days, Namjoon sat back as he soon let Jungkook's scent envelop him; his eyes quickly growing heavy as he moved to rest his head against the Alpha's shoulder once again.
Scent of rain and sea salt sinking into the leather around him, Namjoon yawned as he squeezed Jungkook's hand slightly with his own; the rise and fall of Jungkook's chest lulling him back to sleep as the Alpha soon followed suit beside him.
But if Namjoon thought this would be the end of his night, the Omega was sadly mistaken.
As their car twisted and turned as it headed towards their hotel, Namjoon had no idea of what was currently waiting for him once he arrived.
Nor did he know who'd end up warming his bed before the night was finally over. But Namjoon would find out soon enough.
A certain Alpha would make sure of it. And if it cost him everything to try, then it'd be worth the fight.
Or better yet, Namjoon would be.

There were times in Namjoon’s life when the Omega hated being forgetful.
Whether it was a few music sheets here or a few dance moves there, Namjoon had always hated the fact that sometimes….he could just forget something and there was really no way he could ever find his way around it.
The minute Namjoon woke up inside the car, the sound of raindrops crashing against the metal exterior stirring him to life, the Omega realized this was one of those moments.
“....Mr.Kim, we’re here.”
Jumping in his seat at the sudden sound of his driver's voice, Namjoon turned towards the front of the car; his sleep-riddled eyes soon meeting the beta's own in the small rearview mirror as he bowed awkwardly in his seat.
"Thank you for getting us here safely, Gisanim-shi," Namjoon muttered as he addressed their driver formally, the beta giving him a curt nod and a smile before turning his attention back to the road.
Quickly following suit as he turned to look outside the window, Namjoon let his surroundings finally sink in as the rain continued to pour in heavy, uncontrollable rivulets outside.
And oh…that's what Namjoon had let slip from his mind that morning.
The forecast he had completely forgotten now storming around them as their hotel finally came into sight.
And how Namjoon could have forgotten after having made sure to deliberately pack his umbrella for this very occasion, the Omega would never know. But what he did know now was that he was currently stuck in a car with no cover in sight, a waterfall of rain falling from the sky the only thing between them as Namjoon eyed the hotel's empty and waiting doors a few feet away.
And really, Namjoon couldn't think of a worse way to end an already stressful night.
Groaning as he moved to sit up against the leather seats, Namjoon shifted where he sat and turned to face the still-sleeping Alpha beside him.
Pale skin glowing under the windows covered in moonlit rain, Namjoon fought the guilt as he watched the singer closely; the thought of waking Jungkook up as the Alpha slept peacefully beside him sounding more and more like a crime as Namjoon fought to stifle his Omegas whines.
Biting his bottom lip as he leaned in closer, Namjoon took a deep breath before reaching out slowly: his shy, nimble fingers gently brushing the Alpha’s bangs out of his eyes as Namjoon began to call the Alpha's name softly.
“Jungkook….Jungkookie...Wake up, Alpha…We’re here,” he whispered as he slowly watched Jungkook's features come to life; The Alpha soon groaning as he slowly began to groggily blink away the remnants of his sleep.
Car finally coming to a stop just as Jungkook cursed softly beneath his breath, Namjoon felt himself smile as he watched the singer frown before turning to look his way.
“Joonie?....Oh fuck…I’m sorry, I think I passed out for a bit,” Jungkook tsked as he suddenly jolted awake, the lip ring sitting cooly on his lips making Namjoon blush as he watched the Alpha’s jaw clench as he tried to fight back a yawn.
Of course, leave it to Namjoon to get flustered at a time like this.
Shaking his head as a soft smile pulled at the corners of his lips, Namjoon sighed as he turned to look outside their window, his hand slowly coming up and gesturing for Jungkook to follow his gaze.
“You’re fine, don't worry. But we’ve…got a bit of a problem,” Namjoon muttered as Jungkook looked to where Namjoon was pointing, the Omega watching quietly as Jungkook's eyes widened with surprise once he finally took notice of the storm brewing outside.
Rain splattering against their window as loud clashes thundered in the sky, the Alpha cursed as he realized their predicament; his lips pulling into a tight line as the small *pitpat pitpat* noise of the rain was the only sound to be heard between them.
Waiting patiently as the storm raged on, Namjoon felt his body grow tense as Jungkook groaned; the sound of Jungkook's deep voice making him shiver as the Alpha turned around to face him.
“.....I guess we’re gonna have to make a run for it, huh?” he tsked, his scent filling the car as Namjoon felt his brows furrow deeper. An apologetic smile quickly growing on his face, Namjoon shrugged as he shuffled closer to the door.
“It's looking that way, yeah,” he muttered, his hand reaching out slowly to take hold of Jungkook's own.
Glancing down to where their hands now rested together, Jungkook let his shoulders fall as a soft smile pulled on his lips; his fingers soon intertwining with Namjoon’s own as he nodded towards the rain still falling outside.
“Well…guess we're getting a bit wet then,” the Alpha huffed as Namjoon rolled his eyes, the sound of their laughter soon filling the car as the two finally got ready to exit their vehicle.
Taking a second to inform their driver they were ready to go in order to have their bags ready, Namjoon turned in his seat and watched as Jungkook reached for the door handle; his limbs soon growing giddy with anticipation as the Alpha threw him one last questioning glance.
“Ready?” he asked briefly and Namjoon didn't hesitate as he shuffled closer to the Alpha's side, his face set and determined as he readied himself for what was about to be a whirlwind of rain and chaos.
“Ready.” he spat confidently and that was all the reassurance Jungkook needed as he clutched tighter onto the Omega's hand.
Wasting no time as he turned to face the door, Jungkook pulled the handle in one smooth motion and threw open their car door; a curse falling from his lips as they were instantly pelted on with heavy, ice-cold droplets of rain.
“Oh fuck!”
“C’mon!”
Gasping as they dove hand in hand into the rain, Namjoon rushed forward as he stepped out into the night; his hair immediately falling into his eyes as they ran towards the back of the car to quickly gather their belongings before turning to finally make their way inside.
Clothes beginning to stick to his body as they ran up the drive, Namjoon yelped and cursed as the deep bone-chilling water washed over him; his bag trailing behind him as he held onto Jungkook for dear life as the Alpha guided them towards the hotel’s main entrance.
Eyes narrowed as he ran, Namjoon put his full trust in the Alpha and let Jungkook lead the way; the Alpha’s broad build shielding him from most of the downpour as they reached the top of the drive, and the hotel lobby finally came into view.
And to Namjoon, the lobby had never looked more inviting than it did now; the pair bursting through the threshold without a second thought as they jumped out of the rain and into the dry warmth waiting for them inside.
Doors slamming shut behind them as they came to a stop, Namjoon dropped his bag as he stood in the middle of the room; his lips and hands trembling as he reached up to wipe the water out of his eyes.
Before him, his short-sleeved shirt now sticking to him like a second skin, Jungkook huffed as he did the same and shook the water from his limbs; his tattooed hand coming up to push his hair back and away from his face as droplets of water flew in every direction.
Shivering as the room grew cold and echoed with their rushed breaths, Namjoon stuttered as he tried to speak; the adrenaline still coursing through his limbs making him stutter as his lips trembled over every word.
“J-Jesus I c-can't feel my fingers-s,” he stuttered and it was only then that Namjoon realized they were still holding hands; his fingers locked around Jungkook's own as the Alpha fought his own chill and slowly brought up their intertwined hands.
“I think…I think we're gonna get stuck like this if we dont get warm soon,” he huffed as he tried to catch his breath, the flush on Jungkook's cheeks making him look softer yet even more striking under the lights that currently hung high above them.
How it was possible, Namjoon did not know but he wasn't about to question it.
Small smile growing on his lips as he nodded, Namjoon chuckled as he tried to take a step forward; his body aching with every step he took as a deep chill rapidly grew inside him and his clothes clung awkwardly to his frame.
“Alright, let's go then. We don’t want the hotel charging us for the dry cleaning bill on this thing anyway,” Namjoon huffed as he moved to walk past the Alpha, his balance a little off-kilter as the Omega tried to walk off the intricate carpet he hadn't even noticed growing damp beneath their feet.
Hands still wound around each other as Jungkook stared after him, the Alpha wiped the last remnants of water still clinging to his face and wasted no time in falling behind the Omega's steps. Belongings trailing behind them as they walked hand in hand, the pair paid no mind to the storm still raging outside and made their way to the elevators just a few feet away.
It's not until the doors close behind them and reopen on Namjoon’s floor that the Omega begins to think about something that had been nagging him from the moment he had first woken up in the stadium not so long ago.
Stepping out of the elevator as Jungkook trailed behind him, Namjoon felt his lips pull into a thin line as he thought back to the moment he had first stepped into the backstage lobby. It had been such a surprise to him when his fatigue had seemingly disappeared the instant he’d been enveloped by a scent so strong it had temporarily removed his defenses.
Thinking back Namjoon began to realize how the scent had clung to him, even after he'd woken up the first time and piled into the car taking him home it seemed the more he remembered and thought it over, Namjoon had noticed the scent of rain and Seabreeze long before the storm had ever started.
And really, Namjoon knew there could only be one explanation.
Walking slowly as his hotel room door began to come into view, Namjoon felt his brows rise in surprise as he realized with a start the way Jungkook had acted when Namjoon had first called out his scent in front of their group.
He remembered how even after he had come up to the Alpha and asked to sit beside him, not once had Jungkook denied nor confessed to having been the one responsible for the scent that had wrapped around Namjoon like a warm and comforting embrace.
Coming to a stop outside his door, Namjoon came to realize that from the moment he had left the stage, the Alpha had been comforting him from afar; his scent trying its hardest to comfort the Omega that had been depleted and overwhelmed settling heavily in Namjoons chest.
And as he turned around to face the Alpha standing idly behind him, their hands coming undone as Jungkook reached to place Namjoon’s belongings down before him, Namjoon felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude he had never felt before.
“Well, guess we better call it a night and-”
“I know what you’ve been doing Alpha…. I know it's you.”
Words falling from his lips before he could stop them, Namjoon stood wide-eyed as he watched the words die on the Alpha’s lips; his scent of Petrichor and Seabreeze growing stronger as Namjoon's own scent began to take up space.
Scent of Marigolds and Raspberries quickly filling the hall, Jungkook stuttered as his brow furrowed; a look of confusion gracing his features as he slowly shook his head.
“What? Namjoon what are you-” he tried but Namjoon didn't let him finish.
Not when Namjoon could already feel his eyes brimming with tears as he reached out to take hold of Jungkook's arm once again.
“Oh stop, I know it's you…I know what you’ve been doing. I know you’ve been trying to comfort me and don't try to deny it because… because...” Namjoon stuttered as the words fell out of his mouth like a flood, his heartbeat picking up speed when he found he couldn't voice the rest of his sentence.
Eyes entirely focused on his own, his expression shifting into something softer, Jungkook sighed as he took a step towards the Omega.
“Because what?” he breathed when he couldn't bear the silence any longer; his hand coming up to slowly wipe away at the corners of Namjoon's eyes as the Omega trembled and his breath began to hitch.
“Because…..you’re all around me. Everywhere all at once….on my skin, my clothes, and in the air. And you can't deny you’re the one trying to comfort me and make it all better when you keep looking at me like…like some hurt puppy nobody wants to deal with.” Namjoon spat as his breath grew ragged, the words ripped from his lips as Namjoon fought to control his scent as a sudden wetness started to slide down his cheeks.
And then Namjoon was crying, a pained sound he didn’t even know he’d been making echoing throughout the hall as his face crumpled and the Omega finally began to sob.
All at once, it was as if his feelings had burst through a dam; the pain that had sat in his chest and soul for days suddenly rising to the surface as Namjoon shuddered and cried before feeling a sudden warmth envelop him.
Only it wasn't warmth that enveloped him but Jungkook; the Alpha's arms wrapping around Namjoon’s frame with a quickness as the Alpha caught Namjoon as he cried and brought him forward to hold him flush to his chest.
“Shhh…It’s ok Joonie…. it's ok, Alpha’s got you…I’ve got you,” he huffed sweetly as he whispered into Namjoons ear, the scent of marigolds and raspberries growing bitter as Namjoon let the tears finally fall free.
And with one wet and broken sob, Namjoon let himself fall apart; the soft lull of Jungkook's voice echoing in the hall making him feel small as the Alpha held him impossibly closer. Painful cries soon buried into the damp material of Jungkook's clothes, the pair stood silently as their bodies leaned against each other in the middle of the empty hallway.
And really, Namjoon didn’t know how long they spent there holding each other. But no matter how long it took, Namjoon was sure he'd never mind it.
Not when being held in Jungkook's arms suddenly felt like home to him.
Awkward stances growing more familiar as minutes ticked by, Namjoon shivered as he soon found himself growing needier; his cries beginning to subside as the Omega felt a sudden want grow inside him as he suddenly moved to bury his face in the crook of Jungkook's neck.
But the minute he inched closer to the Alpha's scent gland, Namjoon felt Jungkook suddenly go stiff above him; the Alpha's sharp inhale of breath making Namjoon blink as he moved backward to meet Jungkook's furrowed gaze above him.
“Joonie….what are you doing, bub.” Jungkook huffed once Namjoon’s eyes landed on his own.
And for once, Namjoon gaped as he realized he didn't have a single answer.
Lips parted as no words came to mind, Namjoon felt his cheeks burn as he noticed how close he and the Alpha had suddenly become; the air between them quickly growing tense as Namjoon blinked through the fog that was now a mix of their scents and his raging emotions.
Taking a small step backward as he felt embarrassment bloom on his face, Namjoon gulped as he slowly shook his head. Not knowing what came over him, Namjoon felt himself regain his senses; his tears drying on his eyelids as he coughed to clear his aching throat.
“I…I don't know. Oh, I’m-I’m sorry Jungkook…I’m all over the place, and I….don’t mean to be so forward.” Namjoon muttered as he brought up a hand to wipe at his eyes fiercely, the loose strands of hair still stuck to his forehead roughly pushed aside as Namjoon shivered under the damp clothing still clinging to his frame.
Shoulders sagging as he released a deep breath, Jungkook shook his head as he also took a small step backward. Distance now growing between the two, Jungkook hummed as he reached out to gently turn the Omega's face his way.
“No, Joonie it’s ok…you’re tired. You should head inside and get some rest. In the morning when you’re feeling better, I'll come to see you and we can maybe-” Jungkook started as his arms began to fall away from the Omega's shoulders.
But as the warmth that had enveloped him as he’d broken down was suddenly whisked away, Namjoon felt his Omega panic and rush forward before he could stop it. Frame taking a step closer to the Alpha; Namjoon stopped Jungkook before he could manage to move away or even finish what it was he was saying.
And honestly, Namjoon wasn’t sure why he did it, but as he reached out to take hold of Jungkook's hand as it fell away, Namjoon knew what it was he needed.
Or better yet, who he needed at that moment.
“Wait!…don't go.” Namjoon breathed as he held tightly onto Jungkook's hand, his eyes wide and wild as he glanced upward to meet the Alpha's surprised stare. Bright honey hue color of his eyes making Namjoon shiver as Jungkook stared down at him intensely, Namjoon shifted from one foot to the other as he struggled with what to say next.
Because really, Namjoon hadn't planned this far…Nor had he thought through what he was about to ask the Alpha to do.
Pushing back the hesitation as he finally voiced the words he’d been dying to say, Namjoon knew there was no backing down; his scent soon filling the hall as Jungkook stared at him with concern growing on every inch of his face.
“Namjoon what’s wrong-” he tried as the Omega held him tighter but Namjoon was past the point of stopping, his voice echoing throughout the hall as he took the biggest leap for the second time in his life.
Only this time, Namjoon wouldn't care if he didn't stick the landing.
Not when he was sure there was finally someone here to catch him.
“Jungkook….Stay with me. Spend the night with me, Alpha,” he whispered and Namjoon knew then there was no going back.
Chest growing tight as Jungkook's scent soon grew reminiscent of rain pouring over the edge of a seaside cliff, Namjoon felt his skin burn once the Alpha's eyes suddenly grew dark and golden.
It was then that Namjoon finally knew his answer and for once, the Omega was glad the gods had finally let him have his way.
Of course, Namjoon didn't know the chaos he was about to create.
But the Omega would find out sooner than later.
Fate was funny that way.

Namjoon…was a mess.
From the moment his door had closed behind Jungkook's quiet frame, Namjoon had felt panic begin to stir inside him; reality soon sinking in after they had shuffled their way inside.
Trying to keep his breathing in check as they’d moved deeper into his room, Namjoon had felt his nerves slowly spike as the Alpha had silently trailed behind him. Footsteps soon growing short and hesitant before coming to a full stop, Namjoon fell quiet as they now stood awkwardly in the middle of the room.
And then....well.....Namjoon had no idea.
Wincing as the room pulsed with deafening silence, Namjoon panicked once he realized he had absolutely no clue of what to say or do next. But thankfully, Jungkook was quick to come to his rescue, the Alpha’s voice breaking the silence as he quickly noticed the Omega's distress.
And once again, Namjoon had never been so grateful.
“So…do you want me to….change first or just…lay down?” he huffed softly as he dropped his belongings to his feet, his scent low but comforting as Jungkook kept his gaze trained on the ground.
Skin burning from head to toe at the sudden question, Namjoon stuttered as he fidgeted where he stood; his hand coming up to scratch lightly at the back of his neck as he felt his hair suddenly stand on end.
Licking his lips as they suddenly grew dry, Namjoon gestured widely around the room as he quickly drew Jungkook's attention back his way.
“I…no, that's not….we should….should uh-...try to.....oh god, I don't know-” Namjoon sighed as he quickly grew exasperated, his eyes snapping shut as he tightly pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration.
And how could Namjoon not be?
Here he was standing in a room with an Alpha who was nothing but kind to him and still….Namjoon could not bring himself to make the first move.
And honestly, it wasn't a surprise.
Namjoon had never done this before; the first time he had ever invited someone back to spend the night had ended in complete failure so what was to say this wouldn't end the same way too?
Of course, it was understandable the Omega would find it hard to take charge of what was supposed to be such an important night for him.
Uncertainty growing much too big to deal with on top of the nerves now rushing through him, Namjoon sighed as he dropped his hands by his side; the look on his face seemingly defeated as he slowly shook his head at the Alpha still waiting for his answer.
“Jungkook….I don't know what I'm doing- or what we’re supposed to do-…or well, I do know but-” he stuttered brokenly, only once again Jungkook was quick to stop him.
“Namjoon…hey...it's ok. We don't need to do anything…. tonight or any other night if you don't want to.” Jungkook muttered softly as he gestured for Namjoon to slow down and breathe. Gentle lull of his voice quickly making Namjoon grow warm, the Omega felt himself relax as Jungkook cracked a small and gentle smile his way.
“What? Thought I'd be upset?” he chuckled as he dropped his hands to his sides, his scent of rain and petrichor emanating from him as he shot Namjoon a fond look. Brief laughter soon proving contagious, Namjoon felt his shoulders sag as he released a small giggle himself.
“No, never. I know you Jungkook…the world's sweetest Alpha,” Namjoon huffed softly as he crossed his arms over his chest, his words sweet and kind as he smiled in Jungkook's direction.
And maybe it was the way he said it…the way the words lingered in the air that had Namjoon suddenly feeling smaller than usual. Shivering as goosebumps suddenly bloomed over his skin, Namjoon watched as the look in Jungkook's gaze changed for what was the second time that night.
Only this time, it was gone just as soon as it appeared.
Coughing as he blinked away whatever emotion had flashed across his face so suddenly, Jungkook shook his head before gesturing for Namjoon to come closer.
“Look Joonie…come here. Promise I won’t bite…,” he teased, his scent soon making Namjoon relax as he sighed deeply before slowly making his way toward where Jungkook was currently standing.
Coming to a stop a few inches away from Jungkook's frame, Namjoon glanced upwards to meet the Alpha’s stare. From this distance the bright brown of Jungkook's eyes make Namjoon smile deeper, the fondness reflecting deep inside them making him shiver and buzz all over.
Chest growing tight as he felt the Alpha reach out to slowly brush aside the strands of hair still clinging to his skin, Namjoon waited as he watched Jungkook's gaze trail lazily across his features.
It was moments like these that greatly confused Namjoon’s Omega; the gentle tenderness of the Alpha’s touches making Namjoon weak in the knees before he could even understand why.
Nor did he understand why he continued to fight it.
Brows furrowing as his lips pulled into a tight line as he softly brushed his fingers down the Omega's cheek, Jungkook wondered the exact same thing.
Only unlike Namjoon, Jungkook already knew the reason behind his worries.
“C’mon…you should shower and change into something warm. We don't want you catching a cold mid-tour now, do we?” Jungkook sighed as he took a sudden step away from the smiling Omega; his hand falling limply to his side as he watched Namjoon blink in surprise at the distance now put between them. Caught off guard by the sudden change, Namjoon frowned as he wondered what the Alpha could possibly mean.
Thankfully Jungkook was quick to reassure him.
“Jungkook what-”
“Joonie…you invited me to spend the night, right?” Jungkook asked as he bent down to gather his bags, his scent lingering in the room as he moved to step around the Omega currently gaping at him.
Blinking as he turned to follow the Alpha's movements, Namjoon nodded as he watched the Alpha closely.
“Yes, I did but-” he tried but Jungkook was already moving as the Alpha heaved his belongings onto the well-made bed a few feet away.
“Then I'll stay…even if nothing happens..I’ll stay with you,” he whispered and just like that, Namjoon knew the argument was over.
Room falling into a light silence as Jungkook slowly began to unpack his bag, Namjoon stood idly behind him as his mouth parted and closed over nothing. Silence growing heavy as he waited, Namjoon sighed once he realized Jungkook wasn't about to change his mind.
And so, after accepting defeat, Namjoon turned on his heel and headed toward the bathroom sitting empty behind him. Gathering his things as he stepped over the threshold, Namjoon took a deep breath and slowly began to get ready for bed.
It's not until later after he steps out of the shower and water clings to his skin that Namjoon runs into another problem.
One he didn't know he’d be facing so late into his night.
“.....Fuck….You’ve got to be kidding me..”
Hands rummaging in his bag as a towel sat secured tightly around his waist, Namjoon cursed as he struggled to find a shirt in the mess that was his carry-on bag. Pairs of rolled-up socks and other miscellaneous items soon forming a small pile on the counter, Namjoon felt his mouth go dry as he soon came to the realization he’d forgotten to pack the most important item.
His pajamas…
Or well, that and every other top he owned it seemed.
“Oh god…why…whyyyyy meeee.”
Groaning as he let his now empty bag fall to the floor, Namjoon stood with his face resting behind his hands as he released a deep and heavy sigh. Somehow it almost felt as if the gods were mocking him, making every night more difficult than the next the longer Namjoon spent waiting for things to change.
Standing there, in the middle of the bathroom with nothing but a towel for cover, Namjoon wondered how on earth he was supposed to share the same bed with Jungkook tonight. Shivering as goosebumps started to bloom over his skin as the once refreshing water now clung to him, Namjoon began to question if it wasn't entirely too late to send the Alpha home.
Hands coming to fall by his side as he eyed his own reflection, Namjoon wondered what it was the other could ever possibly see in him.
Yes, he was tall and sturdy but Namjoon was also small and soft in places where he shouldn't be. He was such a conundrum, such a walking contradiction it wasn't a surprise to him why Hoseok hadn't-
“Namjoon? You ok in there?”
Jumping as he was ripped away from his self-deprecating thoughts, Namjoon whirled to face the door as the sound of the Alpha's voice suddenly bounced off the bathroom tile. Lips parting in surprise, Namjoon wasted no time as he quickly made his way towards the door; his towel gripped tightly in his grasp as he reached to crack the door ajar just the slightest.
“Oh, Jungkook! Yeah…yeah, I'm fine…just…drying off I guess,” Namjoon stuttered once he caught sight of the concerned Alpha now standing idly outside his door. Breath hitching as he held onto the door frame tightly, Namjoon did his best to shield his body from view.
Only once Jungkook's gaze suddenly lands on his bare chest, Namjoon finds himself reacting much harder than usual.
Cheeks burning like a fire set ablaze, Namjoon watched as the Alpha blinked slowly before quickly looking away. Scents of Marigold and Seabreeze soon rising to the surface, Namjoon tried his best to avoid the obvious tension now building in the small space shared between them.
But like always, it seemed Jungkook's scent was just impossible to resist.
No matter how Namjoon tried to avoid it.
Clearing his throat as he tried to steer the conversation back to the topic at hand, Namjoon gestured toward the empty bathroom behind him and slowly flashed a nervous smile in the Alpha's direction.
“Sorry if I took too long in there, I just got carried away and-” the Omega muttered but Jungkook was quick to wave his explanation away.
“Joon It's ok, I just wanted to make sure you were…y’know…alive and well,” the Alpha chuckled deeply as his gaze softened, the glint of his lip ring shining brightly under the lights with every word he said. Blushing as the sound of his voice was like music to Namjoons ears, the Omega smiled as he slowly began to let his grip on the door loosen bit by bit.
Only when he did so, the door slips open enough to give Jungkook a good view of the goosebumps currently blooming over the Omega's skin. Smile slipping into a small frown as his brows furrowed, Jungkook grew concerned as he gestured towards where Namjoon was standing.
“...Namjoon? Aren’t you going to get dressed?” he asked curiously, his voice almost a whisper as he looked at Namjoon closely.
Lips suddenly dry as he began to feel self-conscious, Namjoon gulped as he tried to hide himself behind the cover of his arms; the motion almost instinctive as Namjoon lost grip of the door in his haste to cross his arms over his chest.
“Oh!… I was about to it's just-...I was just…trying to…uh-,” words broken as his mind raced for an excuse, Namjoon watched as the Alpha's concern soon morphed into suspicious curiosity.
Deep smirk growing on his lips as his pierced brow arched in question, Jungkook grew closer as he worked to look over the Omega's shoulder.
“Not sounding too confident there, Omega…,” he teased for the briefest second, his sight trailing over Namjoons features lazily as he managed to finally look past where the Omega was standing.
Only when he does get a look, Jungkook gasped as he caught sight of the items strewn across the bathroom counter; his eyes widening with surprise as he turned to stare in confusion at Namjoon's suddenly bashful and embarrassed expression.
And at this point, Namjoon knew there was no point in hiding from the Alpha's gaze.
Nor the fact he was straight out of excuses.
“Namjoon what are you-,”
“I don't have a shirt to sleep in.”
Words blurted out into the open, Namjoon felt his skin burn with embarrassment as he shifted awkwardly on his feet. Before him, clearly not expecting the sudden confession, Jungkook tilted his head as he tried his best to make sense of what Namjoon had just said.
Keyword tried.
“You don't…what?” he tsked loudly when the words still didn't make sense and Namjoon could only groan as he brought up a hand to wipe roughly at his face. Leave it to the Alpha to not have a lick of sense, Namjoon scoffed.
Blinking rapidly as he took a deep breath, Namjoon gestured toward the towel still wrapped around his frame and slowly repeated what he’d already said.
“I said…I don't have a shirt…to change into….I forgot it,” he spat, Namjoon’s embarrassment soon leading to frustration as Jungkook stared at him as if he’d suddenly sprouted a second head.
And for a brief second, neither of them said anything. The silence quickly echoing between them as they stared at each other in the small and cramped room.
Mouth falling into a frown as the Alpha stared at him incredulously, Namjoon began to wonder if he should just call it a night and quickly leave the room.
Only before he even got to finish the thought, the sound of Jungkook's laughter makes the Omega stop cold; the sound of Jungkook’s jeers impossibly light and airy as the Alpha broke into a fit of barely contained giggles.
“You….You forgot your..clothes?!?” Jungkook asked as he laughed heartily and this time, Namjoon didn’t stop the curse that threatened to fall from his lips; the Omega scoffing loudly as he rolled his eyes and turned to glare in the opposite direction.
Ignoring the Alpha as Jungkook wiped at the corner of his eyes, Namjoon waited for the laughter to finally die down. Seconds ticking by as he waited in an annoyed silence, Namjoon frowned as he realized he hadn't expected any other kind of response from the Alpha.
And yet, Jungkook's outburst didn’t annoy him any less.
Go figure.
“Are you done laughing at me?” Namjoon scoffed once the room finally fell quiet, the smirk sitting smugly on the Alpha's lips making Namjoon pout as he hugged himself tighter. Small chuckle pushed past his lips at the sight of Namjoons glare, Jungkook shook his head and moved to lean against the bathroom counter.
“I'm not laughing at you Joonie-” he started but Namjoon’s scoff cuts him right off.
“Oh really? Doesn't seem that way,” Namjoon spat as he turned to glare at the Alpha, the mischievous glint in Jungkook’s eyes making Namjoon fidget as Jungkook slowly started to make his way closer to him.
Brown eyes glowing slightly, his lips pulled into a small and teasing smile, Jungkook came to a stop just a few inches away from the barely clad Omega. Chest growing tight at the proximity, Namjoon glanced upward to meet the Alphas head-on.
Even now standing at this distance, Namjoon couldn't deny the Alpha smelled like serenity and need all rolled up into one.
Namjoon would always hate how much power it had over him.
“Hmmm, you know what it seems like to me?” Jungkook whispered once he grew close enough and Namjoon could only shake his head as he felt the Alpha’s gaze bore into his own.
Smug smirk growing deeper, Jungkook kept going as he eyed the Omega closely.
“Well, it seems like…. if I didn't know any better…I could swear you’d be trying to seduce me-”
Loud scoff bursting from his lips, Namjoon shoved the Alpha away from him as Jungkook broke out into a deep laugh; Namjoon rolling his eyes so hard the Omega was sure he’d almost seen his own brain.
“Oh my god, you are SUCH an Alpha-” he spat as he tried to punch the Alpha's chest but Jungkook was quick to stop him, the Alpha's hands wrapping around his own as he hiccuped and willed the Omega to stop attacking him.
“Yah yah, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm just teasing I swear,” he teased and Namjoon couldn’t stop his own smile from growing on his own lips, the Alpha's scent filling the room as they both fell into a fit of childish giggles.
Minutes later, when the pair finally quieted down and the laughter subsided, Namjoon watched as the Alpha suddenly grew serious.
Smile now replaced with a frown, Jungkook stood stoically as he ran a free hand through his hair. Fidgeting as the Alpha’s gaze trailed over his still-exposed skin, Namjoon shifted nervously from one foot to the other; his body soon growing tense as he felt the room quickly grow quiet.
Clearing his throat once he caught notice of the Omega watching him, Jungkook let his hands fall to his side and muttered the words he’d been debating to say.
And really, it's not what Namjoon expects to hear at all.
Far from it, actually.
“Namjoon look…you can use one of my shirts tonight, yeah? It’ll keep you warm and even help you sleep,” Jungkook hummed as he offered kindly. Chest swelling with emotion, Namjoon froze as he felt his throat thicken and his hands suddenly yearn to wrap around the Alpha.
But before Namjoon could even accept the Alpha’s offer with heart-sung accolades, Jeon Jungkook managed to ruin the mood.
Or well, Namjoons own, at least.
“Plus, I'm sure it’ll probably smell better than you too-ouch!”
Tsksing as Jungkook rubbed the spot where Namjoon had reached out to pinch him, Namjoon shook his head as he uncrossed his arms; his hands landing on his hips as the Alpha looked up at him incredulously.
“Gods you’re such a brat,” he spat but there was nothing but love in his words as Jungkook chuckled.
“I mean sure, but you love it,” he teased, Namjoon's groan echoing throughout the room just as Jungkook's laughter grew louder. Stifling a yawn as they stepped out of the bathroom together, Namjoon let himself be led as the Alpha's arm suddenly fell over his shoulder. Sturdy frame wrapping around his own, Namjoon welcomed the Alpha's warmth as they turned to move deeper into the room.
A few seconds later, Namjoon grows curious once they quickly come to a stop just a few feet away from their bed. Letting his arm fall back to his side as he unwrapped it from Namjoons frame, Jungkook sighed as he took a small step forward and reached toward where his things were still strewn across the covers.
Fighting a whimper as he felt the Alpha suddenly break away from him, Namjoon watched the other curiously as the Alpha began to rummage through his belongings. Brows furrowing as he watched the Alpha carefully, Namjoon stood as he waited to see what the Alpha was looking for.
Seconds soon turning to minutes, Namjoon soon begins to wonder if he should step in and offer the Alpha some help.
But just as soon as he moved to take a step closer, Jungkook found what he was looking for; the Alpha exclaiming loudly as he turned on his heels to meet Namjoon with something heavy held in his grasp.
“Here, put this on,” he ordered quickly, Namjoon taken completely by surprise as the Alpha all but thrusts a thick sweater right into his hands. Scent of petrichor and Seabreeze saturating the fabric, Namjoon felt his Omega almost purr as the cloth felt soft and warm beneath his fingertips.
Lips pulling into a soft smile as he brought the fabric up to his cheek, Namjoon released a sigh and looked upward to meet Jungkook's expectant gaze.
“....It smells….so much like you,” Namjoon huffed, his voice deep and low as Jungkook chuckled and shook his head.
“Ain't that the whole idea?” he chimed and Namjoon could only grin sheepishly as the Alpha turned to give him the privacy to change into the material.
Taking a second to gather his bearings, Namjoon wasted no time pulling the sweater over his head. Warm cotton sliding over his frame, Namjoon hummed as the Alphas' rich scent enveloped him completely.
And really, Namjoon couldn't believe just how good the smell of rain clung to him, his skin warm and tingling all over as he moved to wrap his arms tightly around himself.
Pausing for a second before turning back to face him, Jungkook quirked an eyebrow once he took in the large sweater currently hanging off Namjoons frame. Large sleeves hanging past the Omega's hands while the sweater's trim came to a stop around mid-thigh, Jungkook grinned fondly as he watched Namjoon be swallowed whole by the fabric.
“Feel good?” he asked when Namjoon had caught him looking and of course, Namjoon had only one answer.
“You have no idea,” he hummed, the look of satisfaction blooming on the Alpha's face making Namjoon giggle as he watched Jungkook slowly reach out to wrap his arm around him once more.
“C’mon… let's get some sleep,” he yawned and this time, Namjoon was happy to oblige.
And so, as Jungkook guided them towards the bed where the sheets remained undisturbed, Namjoon got ready for what was now a long-awaited yet deserved sleep.
Climbing into bed once they’d made sure their door was locked and the lights were dimmed low, Namjoon relaxed as he moved to bury himself under the covers. Beside him, his scent low but comforting, Jungkook did the same as he quickly shoved the covers aside.
And soon, before he could even wrap his head around it, Namjoon found himself in bed with the Alpha lying beside him. Chest rising and falling almost in sync with his own, Namjoon shifted beneath the covers and turned to face the Alpha beside him.
Doe-like eyes soon meeting his own, the Omega waited as Jungkook stared at him closely. Heart skipping a beat as the seconds ticked by, Namjoon felt his breath stutter as Jungkook suddenly reached out to slowly brush away the loose strands of hair falling into his eyes.
“.....Goodnight Joonie,” he whispered gently, the night finally coming to an end as the Alpha's voice echoed quietly throughout the room. Eyes starting to feel heavy, Namjoon shuffled closer to the Alpha’s side as he ever so gently offered the singer his hand.
“Goodnight Alpha,” he whispered back and this time, Jungkook was quick to intertwine his hand with Namjoons own.
And Just like that, Namjoon’s night finally comes to an end; the Alpha by his side slowly drifting off to sleep just as his own eyes begin to fall shut and the world ever so quietly starts to fade once again.
Laying safe beneath the covers as he was enveloped in the scent of sea breeze and freshly fallen rain, Namjoon thought himself incredibly lucky to have someone like Jungkook by his side. In truth, the Omega found himself blessed to have someone who cared about him enough to hold him when he felt he was falling apart in every single way.
But oh, what an irony Namjoon’s heart didn’t want what was right for him.
How cruel it was to know his Omega still yearned for someone else when there was a perfectly good mate-worthy Alpha right beside him.
Resting throughout the night with Jungkook at his side, Namjoon would come to find out what life had in store for him once the sun rose against the horizon just a few hours away.
Drifting off into a dreamless slumber, Namjoon slept as he paid no mind to the chaos that his world was about to become.
Of course, peace and tranquility were never meant to stay for long, anyway.
Namjoon would be a fool to think it ever was.

8 hours later
When Namjoon woke up in the morning, the sun had been absolutely blinding.
Soft rays of light dancing through the blinds, Namjoon groaned as he was suddenly stirred from his sleep. Eyes shut tight as he pushed aside the covers to sit up in his now disheveled bed, Namjoon yawned as he tried to comprehend why he was suddenly awake.
But before he could process a single thought, Namjoon was jolted from his stupor as his hotel room door suddenly shook in its frame; the sound of loud knocking against the wood echoing throughout the room making Namjoon yelp as the Omega quickly moved to stand on his feet.
“Oh, shit-coming!”
Stuttered curses falling from his lips as his feet hit the floor, Namjoon willed his aching limbs to move forward; his thoughts a jumbled mess as he chanced a look at his bedside table and the clock currently sitting on it.
Breath hitching as his gaze landed on the time reflected back at him, Namjoon thought it safe to assume it was probably staff currently pounding on his door; the neon red “11: 30 am” blinking back at him almost mockingly as the Omega panicked and practically ran towards his door just a few feet in front of him.
Reaching the frame in record time, Namjoon reached for the handle as he felt the door shake once again; the insistent knocking making the Omega frown as he felt his senses suddenly clouded by something he couldn't quite place as he began to slowly pull the door open.
“Okay okay, I heard you the first time. No need to break the door down-,” Namjoon had begun to groggily mutter as he pushed the door aside. But the scent that creeps through the opening stops the Omega cold; the deep, rich scent of plum and chocolate making the remnants of his sleep immediately disappear and his eyes snap wide open.
And oh….oh no….it couldn't be.
But it was; Hoseok's gaze landing on his own as the door finally fell open and the Alpha stood stiffly beside it.
And gods, It was then Namjoon knew nothing good could come of this sudden visit.
And for once, Namjoon cursed his gift for always being right.
Mouth parting in surprise, Namjoon fought to find something to say, the shock starting to wear off as he wondered what on earth the Alpha could be doing outside his door so early in the morning.
“Hoseok? What are you-,” he tried when he managed to speak again but Hoseok stopped him before he could even begin; the Alpha stepping forward with a surprising urgency as he reached out to hold the door open as if afraid the Omega might slam it closed.
“Namjoon we need to talk-...oh.”
Words frozen on his tongue, Namjoon watched with a sinking dread as the Alpha’s gaze moved from his face and suddenly fell onto the sweater hanging lopsided on his frame.
And gods, Namjoon knew it didn't take much for the Alpha to recognize it; recognition sparking behind Hoseok's eyes as his head snapped upward and his lips parted over a soundless gasp.
And all at once, Namjoon watched as something changed in the Alpha's eyes; the world seeming to move in slow motion as Hoseok's brows furrowed and the Alpha stepped back to take in Namjoon fully.
Only when he did, Namjoon didn’t have to question what the Alpha sees.
Still clad in Jungkook’s sweater and nothing else, Namjoon stood in his door frame with a head full of ruffled hair and slightly swollen eyes from the crying he’d done the night before. Skin almost bare and glowing under the soft rays of the sun, Namjoon stood awkwardly as he knew there was no way Hoseok couldn’t misunderstand the way he looked this morning.
Nor would the Alpha be able to understand why Namjoon seemed to be wrapped in someone else's scent that wasn't entirely his own.
All in all, Namjoon knew it didn't look good. Not if Hoseoks' hardened expression was anything to go by.
Shit.
“Hoseok I-”
“....I didn't know you had company this early,” the Alpha spat out as Namjoon tried to speak again, the deep timbre of Hoseok's voice making Namjoon gulp as he shook his head and moved to close the space between them.
Heart thudding loudly in his chest, Namjoon felt ice course through his veins as the Alpha's scent grew bitter; the words he was desperately trying to say seemingly stuck in his throat as he felt the Alpha slowly move away from his disheveled figure.
“Hoseok it's not what you think-” he tried again but the sharp spike of bitter plum makes Namjoon flinch almost immediately; the Alpha’s lips pulling into a deep scowl as he shook his head and put up a hand to stop the Omega from coming any closer.
“Namjoon it’s ok you don't have to lie-”
“Hyung? Is that you?”
All at once every sound in the room disappeared; the look on Hoseok's face morphing into one of surprised disbelief as Namjoon felt every inch of color seemingly drain from his face.
It was then Namjoon knew as the sound of Jungkook's sleep-filled voice came from behind him, that shit was about to hit the fan.
And of course, Namjoon was doomed to always be right.
“Jungkook?! What are you-,” loud exclaim falling from the Alpha's lips, hoseok paled as he ripped his gaze away from Namjoon’s own to land on Jungkook's shirtless frame. Mouth parting as no words came out, the Alpha gapped as his eyes took in the way Jungkook stood behind Namjoon.
Chest bare and free for all to see, Hoseok didn't have to guess where Namjoon's sweater had come from; his eyes looking past the pair as they landed on the disheveled sheets left empty behind them.
And really, Hoseok wasn't an idiot…..It didn't take a genius to put two and two together.
Watching with terror as he saw the wheels begin to turn in the Alpha's head, Namjoon winced as the scent of plum and chocolate suddenly spiked in the air; the scent so strong and bitter it was a miracle the Omega could even think clearly at all.
Clenching his teeth as he took a small step forward, Namjoon reached for the Alpha now glaring before him; hoseok’s tight-lipped expression making his Omega whimper as the hall grew thick with the Alpha's scent.
“Hoseok it's not what you think-” he tried again but hoseok was quick to cut him off; the Alpha's eyes shining with hurt as he pulled away from the Omega's touch and moved to put a greater distance between them.
“Dont.” He spat out as Namjoon stopped in his tracks. And maybe it's the way he said it, the way the words cut through the air like a knife that has Namjoon recoiling backward as if the Alpha had struck him head-on.
With the way the Alpha looks at him as he begins to move away, Namjoon figures he might as well should have.
The Omega was sure it would have hurt much less.
Besides him, his own scent of rain and sharp sea breeze spiking as he rushed forward to hold Namjoon steady, Jungkook furrowed his brow as he turned to address the Alpha currently boring holes into the Omega’s head.
“Jesus hyung, what's the matter with you? You're overwhelming him,” Jungkook snapped as he felt Namjoon sway slightly in his grasp; the Omega stifling a whimper as he watched Hoseok's gaze shift from him and up toward where Jungkook was holding him.
Jaw set as he stood stiffly, hoseok only shook his head as he began to back away; the Alpha's scent quickly fading as he tried his best to rein in his emotions.
“....My bad Jungkookie….didn't mean to upset your Omega,” he huffed with a clipped scoff, and before Namjoon or Jungkook could stop him, Hoseok turned on his heel and walked away from their room; his scent the only thing left behind as Namjoons eyes flew wide and his Omega cried out in pain.
“Hoseok wait-!” he cried out after the Alpha but Hoseok was beyond stopping.
Ignoring his calls as Namjoon called after him, Hoseok wasted no time as he left the same way he came; the Alpha gone and out of sight before the pair could even understand or comprehend what had just happened.
And really, that's how Namjoon spends the rest of his day….
In the arms of his best friend as tears dried on his cheeks for what felt like the hundredth time that week.
Bummer.
Shaking as he pushed his face deeper into the crook of the Alpha's neck as Jungkook held him closer, Namjoon let himself be held as he felt his heart break into what felt like a million little pieces.
Only then did Namjoon let himself wonder why love had to be so cruel to him or why it always seemed to be just out of his reach when he so desperately needed it?
But whatever the reason, Namjoon was sure of one thing.
The shattering of his heart was the loudest quiet he'd ever heard.
And really, there was only one Alpha to blame.
