Chapter Text

Night fell more. The crew had their dinner, some scattered to their quarters. Though Sanji had a plate for Sayuri prepared, Usopp Stopped him from going any further. "Come on! Did you not understand what she did to you and me!?? Look at my nose for Pete sake!"

"A women should never go hungry. It's a gentleman's job to forgive and make sure she is fed and comfortable." The plate in hand he looked down at Usopp. "But she made Chopper cry! Sanji you are letting your pervy romantic side get the better of you!"

"She is a marine so we cant really trust her, yet when do we ever keep a captive on board and not feed them? I agree with Usopp about this Sanji but I also agree with Sanji, Usopp. You both are Supperrr GENTLEMAN LIKE YE-OW!" Franky shouted colliding his forearms together. Robin began to laugh lightly before walking to her room. "I don't think Usopp is a gentleman at all."

Falling to his knees a dark aura loomed over the sniper "Oi oi..that's too cruel Robin.."

"YO HO HO HO! Maybe just give her the plate and see what she does? I mean she is quite scary- though I want to ask about her panties- that's it! I'll do that now actually." The tall skeleton headed to the door when an arm stretched out to pull him back. "HA HA AH HA BROOK INSTEAD WHY DONT YOU PLAY A SONG FOR US?" He fell to the floor landing on his neck which popped out of socket inhuman like. "AHH! MY NECK IS BROKEN! LUFFY YOU BROKE IT- Ah wait- it doesn't hurt me because I'm already dead-..YO HO HO HO HO!"

Sipping on tea Chopper looked down at the liquids ripples. "She's just misunderstood...I know it...I know what it's like to hate pirates and fear other people...she just needs to realize we aren't so bad..I mean Luffy is the one who took me away from my darkness, how come we can't do that to her? Even so- SHE YELLED AT ME AS IF I DIDNT SYMPATHIZE WITH HER!"

Just outside the doors Sayuris face twisted into a scowl. A tick red mark showing. "Don't those loud idiots know I can hear them." She bit her lip yelping by the fact that it's swollen bruised from the impact of being swung in the water. She sighed trying to sleep, but she couldn't because the loud crowd and a certain swordsman sat down in front of her a littles ways ahead on a beer barrel snoring loudly. "Unbelievable.." All she wanted was peace and quite. It seems that she won't be having none of that here. Closing her eyes once more she tried to tune out the noise.

It was very peaceful to say the least. Somehow it reminded her of her crew who also were a bit loud when trying to sleep during the night. Though it didn't happen often it felt normal. Only a small smile tugged at her lips from the memory. Sayuri felt a poke on her cheek. She opened her eyes to be met with big round ones "WHA- WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" She whispered shouted not wanting to wake up the swordsman. "Why were you smiling just now? You didn't smile once at all today." The captain stood in front of her with a plate in his hand, and the other scratching his head. She glared at him "None of your business."

"Hm.." He placed the plate in front of him holding it out to her. "Sanji made you food, you should eat since everyone else already ate." He loomed over smiling brightly "Go ahead Sanji is a very good cook, he'll be the greatest chef of all time!" She looked down at the plate which was beautifully decorated. The pieces of chicken smothered in sauce along with sautéed vegetables. She raised a brow and looked back at him. "I can't eat it." Bluntly speaking her face idle, making it seem like she was disinterested in the dish. "Huh!? What? Why? You didn't even try it!" He furrowed his brows getting a bit antsy. "Sanji makes good food for everyone you should just eat it and not complain dammit!"

"I'm telling you I can't eat it you dumb fool of a captain! my hands are bind by this damn rope" rolling her eyes she clicked her tongue. "Oh. Is that it?" She deadpans eyeing him intently with his remarks being- well dumb. Luffy moved closer to her and gripped the fork and picked out a piece of chicken and vegetables together. Holding it up to her mouth he pushed it in. "I will feed you!" Sayuri half chewed the chicken and half coughed by the fact of it being shoved in her mouth. "Now you won't starve." She now had her eyes furrowed fixing to protest. Yet the male kept on feeding her the dish. It was rather really good actually. Even better then what they make back at the base. Which only consisted of bread, rice and a meat with a vegetable. It's a diet for the men to grow strong. A load of bull is what she thought. Now this delicious blessing had her stomach growling of satisfaction. The girl blushed by the fact and turned her head away embarrassed.

"Shishishi! See your stomach thinks it's amazing! I told you so! Just wait till you try the meat!! Oh now that's the best!" His mouth drooled and eyes sparkled yellow. Sayuri just side eyed him.

What an unusual captain. She thought taking in his appearance. He had a blue blazer like cut off shirt with grey ish black shorts going along with it. Even an arm bracelet around his skinny yet toned bicep. Then her eyes went to the black haired males face. A basic face just like any other, eyes very round like circles with a cut right under his left eye, but the one thing that she took in the most was his smile. It reminded her of something, she just didn't know what.

This can't be the man who threatened me earlier with that awful look ready to kill. No this smile is innocently peaceful it is scary in a way.

"Why are you doing this? Earlier it looked like you wanted to kill me. Now your being nice and feeding me. Don't you know pirates either kill or torture their enemies they capture? Keeping them captive in their cellars letting them rot away to be corpses. Might as well kill them right then and there so they won't suffer." Her face low and scowling with pure hatred. She knew deep down all pirates are the same even His smile can hide so many emotions underneath a mask.

"I heard you talking to Chopper earlier, you said if you had a devil fruit power you'd kill all pirates. But don't you know how stupid you sound? I'm the man who'll become King Of The Pirates, how can I let a marine kill me?" He placed the plate on the bench to tilt his hat down to cover his face. "You'll have to go through hell to achieve that, but if you stick with me I'll be able to change your mind, my crew and I aren't so bad yeah?" Luffy tilted his hat back up to smile wildly laughing out like he declaring a goal. Sayuri on the other hand kept her eyes glued to him as he spoke such words.

Stick with him? As if I could ever do such a thing. I'd rather be at the bottom of the ocean then here...but why is he talking to me as if he's giving me hope? That smile is genuine with no hesitation or doubt. Almost as he's declaring something...

Sayuri sighed while mumbling "How exactly will you ever change my mind about pirates? Nothing you say will make me think otherwise!" Tugging at the rope she didn't realize when they were talking the swordsman had woken up. Arms crossed he didn't say anything but listened to his captain.

"Because I'll be the one to take you out of your darkness! HA HA AH HA!" His laugh rung in her ears. It was strangely satisfying to hear, it covered the noises of a door opening followed by boots thumping against the wood and grass. It didn't catch her attention at first. Not noticing a few crewmates coming out from besides her also listening to their captain laughing.

"Hehehe! Why don't you join my crew?!"

"EHHHHHH!??" They all said in unison completely shocked at his proposal.

"OI LUFFY! WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?" Zoro shouted now standing up.

"Exactly!! Why would you want this women devil in our crew?? She hurt me and Sanji!" Usopp spoke up waving his fist in the air angrily. "Do you not care about my nose!!"

"Hey now that's a good idea! The only good one you had all day. ILL SUPPORT WHAT LUFFY DOES BECAUSE THIS- ah- miss we don't know your name?" The cook looked to her with questioning eyes . "Or should I say lovely goddess from the heavens up above!~" Cringing Sayuri looked away eyeing the captain. "No. I will not do that."

"Too bad don't care about your answer."

"This wench can't be on the ship, we should have let her drown in the ocean and be food for the fish." Zoro said walking up to the captain eyeing the girl in front of him. "She can be a spy for all we know."

"IM NOT A WENCH YOU UGLY GREEN WEED!" Snapping at Zoro she kicked the air glaring at him. "WHAT DID YOU CALL ME YOU LITTLE-"

"HA HA AH HA SHE CALLED ZORO A GREEN WEED!" Slapping his thigh, Luffy bent over to catch his breath but ended up falling on the green lawn.

"I'll give you something to laugh about." Pushing the hilt of his sword out by his thumb a loud fit of laughter echoed through the air right in front of everyone stood a tall skeleton with a violin. "YO HO HO HO, everyone may I have your attention please! In times of distress and bickering like this, a song always helps ease the senses of everyone's minds! So please join me in a hopeful pirate song Brinks Brew."

Sayuri gasped at the pile of bones speaking when it should be 6 feet under ground. "He must be a fruit user-" Standing high with so much confidence he really looked like a professional singer at an opera house with the way he held the violin to his boned neck. Clearing his throat he took the stage with the stick in hand he strung the bow hair on the violins cords very softly and slowly he sang.

"Yo hohoho, yo hohoho Yo hohoho, yo hohoho
Yo hohoho, yo hohoho Yo hohoho, yo hohoho"

"Gather up all of the crew, it's time to ship out Binks' brew.
Sea wind blows, to where, who knows? The waves will be our guide.

O'er across the ocean's tide. Rays of sunshine far and wide. Birds they sing, of cheerful things, in circles passing by."

"Bid farewell to weaver's town, say so long to port renowned.

Sing a song, it won't be long, before we're casting off. Cross the gold and silver seas, a salty spray puts us at ease, Day and night, to our delight, the voyage never ends."

The night sky seemed to glow with millions of stars twinkling like dancing to Brooks song. It was so softly sung that it could be considered a lullaby for sleeping children. The steady beat slow in rhythm you couldn't even tell that it was meant for a bar full of drunken pirates having a party.

"Gather up all of the crew, it's time to ship out Binks' brew.

Pirates, we eternally are challenging the sea. With the waves to rest our heads, ship beneath us as our beds, hoisted high upon the mast, our jolly roger flies."

Sayuris eyes shimmered along with the dancing stars to its delight. She felt like she was in a trance being drawn to the sound of this music being played so perfectly. Sanji stood smiling at Brook with both hands in his pockets and cigarette smoke trails flying out. Chopper spun around Zoro dancing to the tune of binks brew, the swordsman lightly smiling with arms crossed over his chest just listening.

"Somewhere in the endless sky, stormy winds are blowing by,

waves are dancing, evening comes, it's time to sound the drums. But steady men, and never fear, tomorrow's skies are always clear. So pound your feet and clap your hands 'til sunny days return."

"Yo hohoho, yo hohoho Yo hohoho, yo hohoho

Yo hohoho, yo hohoho Yo hohoho, yo hohoho"

Luffy laid flat against the grass next to Sayuri, using his arms to support his head. He hummed along with Brook smiling widely. Franky sat down next to her but keeping a distance to not disturb her own peace and privacy.

"Gather up all of the crew, it's time to ship out Binks' brew.

Wave goodbye, but don't you cry, our memories remain. Our days are but a passing dream, everlasting though they seem.Beneath the moon we'll meet again, the wind's our lullaby."

Everything seemed to go slow in time as the sky grew wilder then before. The song made the marines heavy burdensome thoughts wash away completely. Regretful, angry filled thinking now at ease with joyful high hopes in spirit. It almost made Sayuri feel like nothing could harm her, even if this moment of delicacy and vulnerability was shared with the others, deep down her heart didn't mind at all. She wasn't alone at this time.

"Gather up all of the crew, it's time to ship out Binks' brew.
Sing a song, and play along for all the oceans wide.

After all is said and done, you'll end up a skeleton, so spread your tale from dawn 'til dusk upon these foamy seas."

Yo hohoho, yo hohoho...Yo hohoho, yo hohoho...
Yo hohoho, yo hohoho...Yo hohoho, yo hohoho...

Words fading out you could tell that the song was coming to an end, the girl looked down to see the captains eyes closed. Still happily smiling. "Sayuri." She spoke in a whisper but loud enough for Luffy to hear. His eyes snapped open from the tone in her voice which was soft and calming. "My name is Sayuri." Luffys eyes locked onto hers for quite a long time. Staring right back at her face he gave her a smile right after the song trailed off to an end.

Yo hohoho, yo hohoho...Yo hohoho, yo hohoho...
Yo hohoho, yo hohoho...Yo hohoho, yo hohoho...
