Chapter Text
And so it was henceforth, that the screams of The Necromantisse were added as a joyous note to the otherwise grim groaning of the graveyard. But they hailed not only from the family burial grounds. They came also from the attic, the kitchen, the inter-dimensional space of the conservatory (sometimes commented by a mocking birdlike voice), from the torture chambers, and not often, but occasionally, from a bedroom on the second floor.
Legend tells there was only one who could stimulate those screams.
Neighbours were worried, annoyed, and a little jealous, and not one of them dared to call the police. On one hand, they didn’t know what to tell them - “disturbance of the peace” seemed to sell it short. On the other hand, officers had long since started ignoring complaints about the Addams house. Too often, their report had been ridiculed by supervisors, and proof photos always turned out to be blurred.
On the second day, it got a little quieter.
Their Wedding night would go down in history as an annual day of remembrance, when the sounds coming from that ghastly house caused a spike in the local bat population, were made responsible for the thunderstorm of a century with a hail of brimstone, and brought people dreamscapes they never dared to tell a single soul, and left them horrified and dizzy for the hangover days after. And yet…everyone liked to reminisce in secret on their personal intimate fantasy, when nights were dark and stormy.
She rolled off him into the moss, both sighing in wistful afterglow. Silver moonlight fell through the dusty glass of the conservatory far up above them.
“Tish?”
“Mmh?”
“What’s next on your list?”
She moved her hand lazily over his naked shoulder.
“We haven’t tried the library yet…”
“I meant your next level of Necromancy. What’s next after the Summoning?”
She tilted her head, observing the valiant tendril of some strangling plant moving through the treetops of the impossible place. She was only a tad annoyed to think about school right now.
“Oh. That would be Stage 4. Nekyomancy. Reviving of the dead.”
“Isn’t that what you did?”
“I only conjured a spirit. Next, I must revive a corpse”, she yawned.
He turned his head to her, and got caught up staring at her. Lying beside him naked, and completely relaxed and dreamy, surrounded by slithering tendrils approaching like timid animals.
“I have questions.”
“Do you now.”
“How dangerous is it?”
The corners of her mouth twitched upwards. “Very.”
“How fresh must it be?”
“The longer they’re dead, the greater the danger.”
“I don’t know if you noticed the graveyard out back.”
“Oh? Now that you mention it”, she mumbled, looking not into his eyes but at his lips. “But I think I must read up about it first.”
“In the library?”
“In the library.”
As the witch and the delinquent began to explore the House from completely new angles, a croaking voice, old but young, and a little immortal, followed them out of the conservatory.
“Hey… you’re already leaving? It’s only been – hours! What’s sexy in a library? Don’t other people live in this house? You just don’t care, do you? You don’t care if anyone notices. That’s my kink, you crazy kids, go for it! Keep at it!”
And at it they kept.
The End
