“You are being too rough Gabriel,” Minos cautions as he watches the blonde yank at a weed and snaps the stem in half before the roots have time to jump away from the dirt.
The angel in question tilts his head up to give Minos a confused look. His eyes, wide and glowing dimly blue, drift from the plant in his hand to the Prime Soul’s face.
“It’s gone though…” he says hesitantly, voicing his thought but still cautious to do so.
Minos chuckles softly. The Prime Soul sets down the basket of various roots the two had been gathering and kneels next to Gabriel.
“That is true for part of it my love, but,” Minos takes a hand and swipes away the dirt covering the rootball. “It shall only grow back if thou does not pull out the root.”
“Oh,” Gabriel mumbles before carefully moving on to the next weed, minding the roots as he does so this time. He holds the complete plant up to Minos’s face for approval.
“Much better,” the Prime Soul says.
Gabriel smiles as much as he can and continues with his work, oblivious to the way it makes Minos’s heart swell.
“You know,” the Prime Soul says as the two keep going. “You’ve almost been here for a whole year now my love.”
Gabriel pauses for a second, his tanned hands halfway to the dirt. He’d stopped wearing clothes that entirely hid his scars, so Minos could see the jagged lines that traced his love’s arms from under his light blues sleeves.
“I suppose you’re right.” the angel says as he carefully removes another weed.
Minos regards him for a moment.
He decides that Gabriel has never looked more beautiful than this. His face is peaceful, his shoulders relaxed, his hair growing so long it brushes over his top eyes. He looks like a god come down from Olympus for a change of pace, not a tortured soul. And while Minos knew that tortured man lay thinly under the surface, he was slowly quieting down.
Minos takes a hand and softly tips Gabriel’s chin up. The angel gives him a raised eyebrow. Gabriel liked to act as though he was annoyed by Minos’s constant affection, but the Prime Soul knew he loved it.
“I’m proud of thee Gabriel,” Minos states as he draws the angel in for a chaste kiss, forming the void of his face into a familiar hooked nose and lips. “It is good to see you happy.”
Gabriel scoffs against Minos’s lips but doesn’t pull away. He leans in to kiss Minos right back.
“What else could I do?” he mumbles, a little embarrassed. “Anyone would’ve done the same the way you pester me.”
Minos chuckles.
“Is that so?”
“Mhm.”
Minos shakes his head and with one of his large thumbs, smears a bit of dirt against Gabriel’s cheek.
“Why you-” the angel gasps as he takes one of his smaller hands up in an attempt to do the same.
Minos easily grabs him, and with a laugh wrestles the angel under him. He looks down to find Gabriel blushing a deep blue.
“Now about that pestering,” Minos says as he leans down and begins to pepper Gabriel’s face with small kisses.
Despite himself, the angel quickly bursts out laughing, a rare thing, a scared thing. Minos relishes in the sound as he places one more gentle kiss on Gabriel’s neck and pulls away. The angel lies underneath him with a very weak facade of discontent on his face. Minos merely laughs and frees the angel from his grasp. Gabriel rolls away, no doubt staining his shirt with a thin layer of dirt.
“I could still kill you you know…” the angel mumbles, rubbing the dirt from his chin. From anyone else it would be a threat, but when Gabriel said it it translated to “I love you very much, stop making me feel so many emotions.
“I love thou too Gabriel.”

While I feel like this story has reached a logical conclusion, I do plan on posting more little stories/one shots about these two that I couldn’t fit into this in one big work.
