2, Port Mafia Arc
After 11 years stay together, Ranpo and Yosano seem to know each other well, with Ranpo correctly anticipating her quirks and hobbies like asking someone in the Agency to accompany her shopping. Ranpo says that that ability to notice dangerous is a good one
"That's called "Having a knack for avoiding trouble"-a real survival instinct. For example, 10 seconds from now...",
, just as he trails off, Dr. Yosano walks into the room with a yawn, asking if Atsushi is hurt, then asks if Atsushi would help her with shopping since he's the only one here, Atsushi turns around, confused when he sees everyone is gone, recalling them talking about the ability to sense danger.
On casual occasions and even during the Guild war, Yosano's mature and calm disposition would complement rather than clash with Ranpo's childlike outbursts; while Ranpo once complained out of boredom that he wished to go out during the Guild war, she calmly warned him that the Mafia or the Guild might only lop his head off. Then, he invited Yosano to play a game with him, particularly hanafuda, while she accepted and fiercely asked what their wagers shall be.
3, The Guild Arc
Ranpo was sent a challenge by the Guild; a "Deduction Game" invitation. Upon solving the puzzle by the door after borrow a pen from Yosano , Ranpo walk into the next room where Edgar Allan Poe — a strategist of the Guild — is seated and awaiting their arrival.
Ranpo and Yosano are thrown into the book's setting, the mansion of tragedy. They were separated and Ranpo is standing alone with a death body. Yosano hurried into the room shouting “Ranpo-san!”, very worry about Ranpo. They found out a body is immediately discovered, and the conditions of the murder seem to be that of a locked room murder.
"The classic "Imposible crime""
Ranpo does not want to investigate or question the other residents of the mansion because he'd rather use his ability. Yosano, however, holds an interrogation either way. During the interrogation, Ranpo refutes many ideas given by the other residents of the mansion as to how the man was murdered.
“Look at you, Ranpo-san. Aren’t you doing quite well?”
“No!…I just…”
After this, he simply walks out. Yosano follows him and tries to talk about Ranpo's ability, but Ranpo stops Yosano mid-way — insisting that he has an ability and that abilities could not be used in the book world.
“The pair of glasses were given to me by the dirrector! Are you saying the directer lied to me!?”
Yosano-being suprised, looking at his angry face “No…No, of course . He couldn’t have, right?”
Meanwhile, Poe is amused by their struggle — exclaiming that it is all for the sake of revenge.
Yosano is determined to capture the killer and is seated in her room on her bed with an axe. While she sits there awaiting the murder's move, something suddenly attack her. Ranpo wakes up immediately, like he is connected with her, knows that she is in dangered, tries to find her then finds her lays dying on the floor with the axe she was to use against the murderer buried in her torso. When she was about to die, she placed her trust in the great detective for whom the Agency was established, said that the ADA was found so Ranpo could make good use of his talent which made him looks straight at her with his eyes wide open. At that time, Ranpo was using his left hand to hold Yosano's shoulder and using his right hand to hold her left hand.
In the last moments, Yosano thanked Ranpo for recruiting her to the organization, told him she was still "very grateful" even to that day. As Yosano "died", Ranpo freezed, then gnashed his teeth, took her glasses, worn them himself and solved the case, came back out of the book unharmed with Yosano . Finds out it is the first time he solve the case without relying on his glasses and "ability", after Fukuzawa gave him the glasses and told him that he was an ability user.
After that, as Ranpo and Yosano are walking back, Yosano mentions that Ranpo doesn't actually have an ability. Ranpo declines and insists he has an ability, telling her not to call him normal. He was embrassed that he would look stupid if he turned out to be normal now, aftel all the time thinking he was gifted. That make Yosano lauging and Ranpo told her not to laughing, she said "Fine, fine" and he kept complain "No "Fine, fine" either"
