Work Text:
Jungkook looked at the address that was typed on his phone and then at the address on the building in front of him. There was no way his brother lived here, the building was run down and tacky, not classy. Jungkook knew his brother would never succumb himself to such poor living conditions. While his brother acted like he didn't love money, Jungkook knew his taste was expensive. And after living in a mansion his whole life, it was doubtful Yoongi would live in a shitty apartment building.
But despite his hesitation, Jungkook walked up the two flights of stairs that lead to the third floor, the highest floor. He looked around for room number 8C and knocked on the door once he'd discovered it at the end of the small hall. After a few moments, Jungkook began to doubt himself. He should've walked away when he had first gotten there. He knew the place was too sketchy.
Mid-thought, the door opened and Jungkook's hyung, Yoongi, was there. "Jungkook?" he asked as he slowly scratched his head.
"Hyung!" Jungkook ran towards his brother, and enveloped him in a hug. "I'm here to visit!"
Yoongi paused before he wrapped his arms around his younger brother. "That's great, Kook, I'm happy you're here." Yoongi pulled back and grinned at his younger brother, ushering him inside.
"So what's top producer Yoongi doing today?" Jungkook inquired as he took his shoes off and looked around the apartment.
It was a small kitchen & living room, the couch, which had a pull out bed, took up almost the whole wall and there was a TV pushed into the corner. The kitchen was small, probably too small for more than 2 people at a time. There was no table to eat at, just a small tv tray laying against the wall next to the couch. Jungkook could lay on the floor and stretch his hands out and he would be touching both walls. There was a doorway at the far end of wall near the kitchen. Jungkook guessed it was the bathroom. Taking up what little space was left was Yoongi's computer and other equipment.
"I have a meeting with two of my classmates for a project, actually." Yoongi said as he motioned for Jungkook to follow him. "This is the bathroom." He pointed to the white door on his left. "That's the kitchen." He gestured towards the small area. "And this is my bed..." He said as he slowly pushed the bed back into the couch, throwing the cushions back on top.
"This place is really small. Also... trashy..." Jungkook grimaced while looking at the fake hardwood floors and peeling white paint.
"Um, I love my home, thank you." Yoongi crossed his arms and huffed.
"Sorry, hyung. Guess I'm not used to the poor college student life. You know dad would've rented you a better apartment, right?" Jungkook walked over to the couch and threw his bag in a corner before sitting down.
Yoongi tossed him the remote from where it was on the kitchen counter. "Yeah, but would it not have looked suspicious for a college student who claims to be from a small part of daegu with parents who are a mail-woman and waiter at a local bar to have a lavish apartment? No one can know I'm rich, Kook. I'll be treated differently by my classmates. They'll think I bought my way into the top spot." Yoongi sighed as he crashed onto the couch, mindlessly watching as Jungkook flipped channels.
"Hyung, you only have basic cable though!" Jungkook gestured towards the old drama from the 90s that was on. "And you don't have to invite people to your apartment!" Jungkook added as an afterthought.
Jungkook wasn't wrong, Yoongi knew he could have been living in a penthouse and no one would know. But fuck if Yoongi wasn't devoted to his music. And if being this deep into his crazy dream meant that he had to live in a roach-infested apartment too small for anyone over the height of 5'9", then it was worth it. "Jimin and Taehyung are coming over in 30 minutes. You can stay here or go off around town." Yoongi mumbled as he got up, not wanting to argue with his dongsaeng any longer.
Jungkook rolled his eyes as Yoongi walked to his computer. His hyung was being stupid. Why would anyone live in a place like this when they could be living in a 6 bedroom penthouse with a bathtub they could swim in and a tv the size of a wall. It was the opposite of egotistical; instead of being proud of his money, Yoongi was shutting it away. He had even gotten a part time job at a convenience store and only accepted his dad's money when needed or forced.
That was ridiculous.
Jungkook sighed as he lounged back on the uncomfortable couch. He may as well have stayed there, since he didn't know anywhere to go on this side of Seoul. And he had no form of transportation. He turned his attention back to the old drama, chuckling at the low-budget effects. The 90s were a good time for cheesy korean tv shows.
When the drama was in the middle of a really bad fight scene (you could see the wires holding the characters up!) there was a knock on the door. Jungkook lowered the volume on the tv and waited to see if he was hallucinating. The knock sounded again. "Hyung! I think your classmates are here!" Jungkook shouted. He heard a mumbled curse and Yoongi rushed over to a small chest. He pulled out some clothes and ran to the bathroom. Yoongi yelled for him to get the door.
Jungkook groaned and got up, walking the meter it took to get to the door. He pulled it open, muttering a "Yoongi hyung's doing some shit, he'll be a second." before looking at the people in front of him.
There stood one of the most beautiful men he had ever laid eyes on. The guy was slightly shorter than Jungkook, his hair a deep black that was styled messily and pushed back just slightly. He was wearing a printed button up shirt that was tucked into impossibly tight skinny jeans. The shirt wasn't buttoned to the top, showing off deep collarbones and a small splatter of moles across them. His thighs were thick and Jungkook lowkey wanted to be choked by them. No he definitely did. The guy was standing there, one hand in his back pocket, the other one resting at his side. His hip was jutted out a little, and Jungkook could just barely see a plump butt. "Holy fuck." He whispered as he brought his eyes up to the guys face. Not only did he have a body to die for, but his face was just as beautiful if not more. Especially his plump lips that were the perfect shade of pink and would look so great wrapped around- Jungkook shook his head. "Sorry, you're just really hot, what the fuck. How much can you bench press? 150?" Jungkook licked his lips and slammed his mouth shut. Fuck word vomit, he was supposed to be smooth. Like butter. Or freshly moisturized skin.
"I can bench press a whole 42 pounds, thanks for thinking I'm hot. Sadly, I must reject you, I have my eye on a much shorter prize that probably hates my guts and will never give me a chance. But my mama didn't raise no quitter." Jungkook stopped looking at the black haired beauty to shoot a confused look at his taller, lighter haired friend.
"Um, not talking to you, but, uh, good luck?" Jungkook said, scratching his neck lightly. "Anyways, what's your name?" Jungkook smirked as he leaned against the door, his eyebrow raised suggestively at the boy in front of him.
"Jimin. Now could you let us in? We're here to discuss a project, not talk to overly flirty 16 year olds." The guy crossed his arms and stared to the side.
Jungkook was at a loss; how could this man resist his charm? The technique he had spent years painstakingly adjusting so that it worked with a 99% success rate? How could he reject Jungkook? The heir to one of the biggest companies in South Korea? "I'm 20 not 16." He pouted bitterly as he let the two guys brush past him into the apartment.
They sat down on the couch with their legs wide open, leaving no room for Jungkook. Just as Jungkook was about to push the tall boy off so he could flirt with Jimin, Yoongi's bathroom door opened. Yoongi walked through the small area and entered the living room looking completely different from when Jungkook first saw him. When he had opened the door for Jungkook, he had been in his underwear, his hair a mess and one of his eyes practically glued shut. But now he was standing there in tight black jeans, a low cut silky shirt showing off his skinny chest, and his hair styled to perfection. He even had makeup on.
"Oh hey, Taehyung and Jimin. Thought you guys weren't coming till 3." Yoongi nonchalantly said.
"Yoongi hyung! Come sit next to me!" The tall boy, Taehyung, practically screamed as he pushed Jimin into the side of the couch, roughly. He scooted over and patted the seat next to him. Yoongi smiled slightly, with a blush on his face, and walked over to the cushion and sat down delicately. Jungkook side eyed his hyung for being obvious before he looked at Jimin again.
"So, Jimin. What's it gonna take for a guy like me to get a date from a guy like you?" Jungkook raised an eyebrow, his cocky attitude evident in his tone of voice.
"It's going to take you shutting up and letting me work on my project to even consider you as a possible option for talking to." Once again, Jimin rejected Jungkook's advance.
Jungkook didn't know what Jimin's problem was, but he'd be lying if he said that it didn't piss him off yet turn him on. Jungkook figured he'd break Jimin down eventually. And when he did, it'd be the best date and hopefully fuck of his life.
"Okay, shutting up." Jungkook mimed zipping his mouth shut and throwing the key away.
"Sorry for him, he's dumb." Yoongi smiled apologetically at Jimin before looking back at Taehyung.
The Taehyung guy smiled back at Yoongi happily before asking, "who is he anyways? You never talk about your personal life, hyung." Taehyung's hand rested lightly on Yoongi's thigh, the latter's face erupted into flames.
"He's my brother, well kind of." Yoongi grinned. Jungkook didn't know where Yoongi was going with this, they were really brothers. "He was adopted by my parents when he was 10 years old."
"What the f-" Jungkook started. He wasn't adopted? He saw the video of his mom giving birth to him. He knew he was really his parents kid. And he knew that Yoongi was his biological brother.
"Yeah, Jungkook here was born in Busan and he was put in an orphanage. My mom was there to talk at this meeting for mail, and she saw him walking in the street and just... had to have him." Yoongi bullshitted his way through the story.
Taehyung gasped and gripped Yoongi's thigh a little harder. "That's so sad. I'm sorry that you had to go through that." But the guy wasn't even looking at Jungkook when he apologized. Instead his eyes were glued to Yoongi. Jungkook huffed right as Jimin did, both shared a small glance before Jimin turned away.
"Yeah. It was hard." Jungkook's voice was monotone and bitter. It wasn't very fun having your favorite (and only) brother make up a story of you being adopted.
"Not to be rude, but can we start on the project, hyung?" Jimin piped up from where he had been relatively silent.
"Oh shit. Yeah." Yoongi shook his head and pulled his laptop up off the floor and onto his lap. Jungkook rolled his eyes as the three ignored him. He shifted on his feet before he decided to just sit down on the floor and play games on his phone. As he was waiting for his game to load, he looked up. Jungkook was surprised to see Jimin was actually looking at him instead of Yoongi's screen. Jungkook smiled, and Jimin turned away abruptly.
Jungkook was going to charm the pants off Jimin.
--
After the project had been discussed and worked on, Jimin and Taehyung had left with nothing but a small wave goodbye in Jungkook's direction. Of course the two boys had spent 4 minutes just saying goodbye to Yoongi though.
"So, that Jimin guy, Is he single?" Jungkook asked casually from his position on the floor. He was looking up at Yoongi for the first time in years as Yoongi walked over to him.
"Yeah he is. But I don't know if he's interested. Last time I checked, his ex was a manipulative bitch and she used him. He said he was taking a break from relationships." Yoongi said as he kicked Jungkook's leg. "Get up and get your bed together if you're staying."
Jungkook smiled, "That sucks, I don't think anyone deserves a relationship like that. Of course I'm staying. I haven't seen you in almost two months." Jungkook could push away thoughts of Jimin to bond with his brother.
"Good. I missed you." Yoongi kicked Jungkook one last time before disappearing to get some extra bed sheets from the bathroom closet.
"Missed you too, hyung!" Jungkook called after him as he got up to his feet.
--
Jungkook's mini vacation at Yoongi's ended quicker than expected. He had only planned to stay for three days, and so he was due back home that night. Which, all things considered, home wasn't too far away since his father's company was based in Seoul. But Yoongi's school was on the outer edge, in the less convenient and more run down parts, so it wasn't fun to go there. Jungkook promised to visit his hyung at least once a week from then on, since he actually loved it there.
It may have also been because of a certain black haired hottie that Jungkook couldn't get out of his mind. Jimin had stolen Jungkook's heart, and he planned to get it back. He hadn't seen the guy after that first day. But Yoongi had informed him they were meeting up again five days later at a studio only 15 minutes from Jungkook's work. He was definitely going to crash the recording session, unapologetically ask Jimin out, and get the best date of his life.
It was a brilliant plan, really.
Jungkook laughed to himself as he took the spare sheets off the floor and threw them into Yoongi's hamper. Yoongi was currently in class but he had told Jungkook to clean up while he was gone. Jungkook was a good dongsaeng, so he did what he was told.
Jungkook finished cleaning up and waited around for Yoongi to get home so he could say goodbye properly. As he was cleaning his fingernails absentmindedly, an urgent knock on the door interrupted his mindless thoughts. Confused, Jungkook got up and looked through the peep hole. There, on the other side of the door, stood Jimin.
Jimin was biting his lip, his teeth dragged over the bright red lip lightly as his eyes shifted from side to side. His small hands, clenched in a tight fist, knocked again. Jungkook shook his head and came to his senses, opening the door and plastering a smile on his face. "Hey, Jimin." He greeted cooly.
"Oh, Jonghyuk! Is Yoongi hyung here? I need to talk to him." Jimin said as he crossed his arms and glanced to the side again.
Jungkook sighed deeply, "I can't believe you don't remember my name after that deep connection we had. It's Jungkook."
"Listen, I'm not trying to be rude in anyway, but just tell me if Yoongi hyung is there or not." Jimin rushed out.
"No, he's in class until 2:30" Jungkook relented eventually sensing Jimin's worried nature.
"Fuck." The curse was whispered, but Jungkook still heard it.
"Hey are you okay? Do you want to come in and wait for Yoongi?" Jungkook asked, worried now.
"Please?" Jimin asked. Jungkook nodded and stepped aside, allowing Jimin to enter the apartment.
"I hope I'm not prying, but what's going on?" Jungkook asked hesitantly.
Jimin sat on the couch and bit his lip again lightly. He clasped his hands together and cracked his knuckles before fiddling with his thumbs. "Okay, so, I broke up with my ex just a few months ago and she was real shitty, and I just saw her. And while I'd normally go to Taehyung or Hoseok hyung, they were both busy so I decided to come to Yoongi's. But he's not here so I'm freaking out."
"If you need to, you could talk to me?" Jungkook asked as he slowly sat next to Jimin, though not too close since he was so shaken up.
Jimin seemed to be contemplating it, his eyes shifting around lightly before they settled on Jungkook's. "I'd prefer to wait for Yoongi... not because I don't appreciate you willing to talk to me but because Yoongi hyung knows the details and it's easier."
"I respect that. For now, I'll distract you with some TV and hot chocolate." Jungkook smiled. He was kind of bitter because Jimin wouldn't talk to him, but at the same time he understood why. Jungkook handed Jimin the remote before he got up and walked into the kitchen. He prepared two cups of hot coco quickly. When he was done, he handed Jimin one mug and kept the other, sitting down again. This time closer to Jimin.
"Thanks..." Jimin whispered, taking a sip. He licked his lips afterwards and Jungkook had to look away.
"No problem, Jimin."
"You should call me hyung, I'm two years older than you." Jimin confessed. Jungkook was shocked. He thought Jimin was his age, not older than him.
"Alright then, hyung." Jungkook smiled, bunny teeth and all before he turned back to the TV.
After at least twenty minutes of watching the TV, the front door opened and Yoongi walked in. Confusion was clear in his voice as he asked, "Jimin? Why are you here?"
Jimin got up and walked over to Yoongi, hugging him. Yoongi hugged back and rubbed Jimin's back. "My ex." Jimin whispered. Jungkook wouldn't say he was jealous, but he was jealous.
"Alright let's go to the cafe and talk about it. Jungkook are you leaving now or?" Yoongi asked Jungkook, one hand still on Jimin's back as he also turned towards Jungkook.
"Um... I think I'll leave right now ..." Jungkook cleared his throat, coming up with an excuse on the spot, "my horoscope said to not travel at night."
Yoongi raised his brow but didn't say more as he lead Jimin out the door. Jungkook sighed deeply and sunk into the couch, rubbing his hands down his face.
--
"So, how was Yoongi?" Jungkook's father asked from his desk. A pen was in his hand and he was writing something on a notepad.
Jungkook shuffled on his feet before he answered, "his apartment is horrible but he seems to be having fun. He actually has friends and goes out, so that's an improvement from when he worked here." Jungkook said, his voice firm.
"Well, didn't want him to feel he was obligated to overtake the family business. Boy never had a knack for it anyways. Always too busy with his music." Mr. Jeon sighed deeply.
"But he's good at what he does, father. And I think he will want to help the business, just not right now. You're still at your prime and not retiring any time soon."
Mr. Jeon stared at his youngest son. "You're right. How about you? Any passions you want to delve into before taking over the business?"
Jungkook chose his next words carefully, "well, actually... I was thinking of applying to Yoongi's school... and majoring in dance."
Mr. Jeon rose his eyebrows, surprise very evident on his face, "I guess that could be arranged... as long as you focus on the business once I retire."
"Thank you, father." Jungkook bowed deeply.
Mr. Jeon sighed as his son walked out of his office. He knew that with how things were going, it didn’t matter if Jungkook went to school for a little while. But what did matter was that he kept in mind how important the business was. And as of now, if Jungkook pursued this dancing thing, he’d forget those priorities. Mr. Jeon couldn’t have that happening. He knew that soon enough; Jungkook would have to abandon his dreams and concentrate on the important things in his life.
--
"So you're living here until Dad can get you into the school?" Yoongi asked as he munched on a bag of chips.
"Yeah, since the semester's already started, it's hard to get me in and keep my identity a secret. We're lucky we were never in the public as kids." Jungkook laughed lightly. Yoongi smiled slightly. "Is it okay if I stay here, hyung?" Jungkook asked. Worry creeped into his mind. He knew his brother liked his space. And he also knew that to keep up the facade they put up, he'd have to stay there for a bit.
"Yeah, Kook. You're always welcome here." Yoongi's gummy smile greeted Jungkook. Jungkook smiled back, happy to finally be able to spend time with his hyung.
“Thanks hyung, it really means a lot. I know that being around me isn’t always the easiest for you, since you usually enjoy your alone time.” Jungkook said, memories of him being kicked out of Yoongi hyung’s room played through his mind. Jungkook watched as Yoongi took a deep breath and exhaled just as loudly.
“Jungkook. You know I love you, it’s just, I’m an introverted person who likes to concentrate when I need to. And sometimes you’re distracting. Don’t ever think I don’t like having you around.” Yoongi spoke to him from his desk chair.
Jungkook knew that his older brother cared for him but there was still this feeling of doubt. Doubt that he was actually appreciated and not a menace. It was hard for Jungkook to get super close to people, and since he was a CEO’s son, he didn’t have many friends. So getting the confirmation that he was actually enjoyable to be around brightened his day.
“What do you do around here, anyway?” Jungkook asked. When he had visited Yoongi the last time; they had been in the apartment 24/7. Now, Jungkook wanted to be shown around the neighborhood.
“I could take you to the cafe I go to.” Yoongi suggested. Jungkook agreed and they left for the cafe, catching up and chatting as they did.
--
Jungkook had only seen Jimin twice in the three weeks he had stayed at Yoongi's. He had gone to the recording session Yoongi had told him about, but sadly made it after Jimin had already finished. He had seen Jimin at school, and said hey, but had to rush to class. He had then seen him once at the cafe on campus, but again was ushered away by his new friend, Namjoon.
But now, as Jimin walked into his dance class, Jungkook was shook to his core. This was his chance to impress Jimin. Not only was Jungkook a great dancer, but he knew that he impressed everyone who saw him. Jungkook grinned as he called to Jimin, the "Jimin hyung!" a little louder than he wanted.
"Jungkook?" Jimin asked, obviously surprised as he walked towards him. "You dance?"
"Of course! That's what I'm majoring in, hyung." Junhkook confirmed as he started to stretch. He could feel Jimin watching him, but he didn't want to act obvious about it.
"I major in dance too. I'm actually the instructor for this class." Jimin smirked as Jungkook fell over from where he had been holding his leg up.
"You're what?" Jungkook demanded.
"Teaching this class." Jimin said before continuing, "you better be good, Jungkook."
Jungkook watched as Jimin stalked away to the front of the class. He started to stretch, immediately folding himself in half and touching the floor with his hands before dropping into the splits. Jungkook was not going to survive.
--
"Listen, Tae." Jimin started from where he was seated in his music theory and composition class. "I'm not saying that I think he's cute. I'm just stating a general fact that he has good genes."
"So you do want to fuck him?" Taehyung asked, twirling his pencil in between his knuckles.
"No. I do not want to fuck Jeon Jungkook." Jimin huffed. A few seconds later, the door to the classroom burst open and Jungkook walked in. "Speak of the devil." Jimin hissed.
Jungkook was carrying a huge bouquet of flowers. looking around the room dutifully. He smirked as his eyes connected with Jimin's. "Park Jimin!" Jungkook shouted as he started to walk towards his desk. Everyone turned towards Jimin's seat, staring at him. Jimin wanted to die. "You have been the only thing on my mind since I first met you. And although we've only talked a handful of times, I can't get enough of you. Here you go." Jungkook deposited the flowers on Jimin's desk. "See you later, Jimin hyung." Jungkook winked as he smiled prettily at Jimin.
Jungkook walked out as cooly as he had entered, leaving a shocked Jimin and excited Taehyung.
--
Jimin sighed as he glanced over at Jungkook and Yoongi. They were in line at the cafe, and Jimin knew they would probably join him and Taehyung at their table. Don't get Jimin wrong, he loved Yoongi hyung, it was the other Jeon that annoyed Jimin.
Jungkook was the type of guy that thought he was hot shit, the type that had confidence and didn't give up. Jimin knew how relationships with those guys usually ended, and they weren't great. Jungkook was also persistent, even in dance class he was determined to be the best in the class, and he worked hard for it. He was the type of guy that didn't give up, no matter how hard the task was. Sadly, his current task was wooing Park Jimin. And he wasn't giving up.
Jimin had repeatedly told Jungkook that he wasn't interested, but the guy wouldn't leave him alone. Jungkook didn't ask him out every time they met up, and he didn't follow him around or anything creepy. In fact, Jimin would say they were acquaintances, and they were able to talk to each other on friendly terms. But then Jungkook would say something dumb to Jimin, usually a bad pick up line from google, and it would ruin Jimin's nice image of him.
"Oh, here comes Yoongi hyung and Jungkookie!" Taehyung smiled broadly, his hands were clasped together in front of him in happiness. "I can't wait to show Yoongi the song we've been working on."
Jimin had almost forgotten about that. But now he was embarrassed. If Yoongi hyung listened to the song, Jungkook would want to listen to it too. And that's horrifying, since Jimin was unconfident of his singing skills and Jungkook could actually sing. "Maybe we could meet up with Yoongi hyung later to show him the song?"
Taehyung threw a confused look at Jimin, he opened his mouth hesitantly before asking, "do you not want Jungkook to listen?" The blush unwillingly overtook Jimin's face, and Tae smirked at that. "Do you perhaps like like Jungkook?" Tae asked as he leaned his elbows onto the table, settling his face into his hands.
Jimin groaned as he looked at his friend, "why on earth would I like like him? I can barely call him an acquaintance, he annoys the hell out of me."
"Sounds like denial to me... you know Jungkook is really sweet with you. Like 2 weeks ago when he ran all the way to the convenience store just to get you the candy bar you wanted because Yoongi and I forgot it." Jimin remembered that. He had been upset that the two had forgotten his candy, and had whined about it for a straight 10 minutes before Jungkook got up, ran out the door, and came back 15 minutes later with a whole bag full of candy. "Or the time he had taken you to the movie theater to watch that movie you really wanted to see. Even though the only time it was showing was during his test in Dance Therapy class." Jimin groaned, the movie hadn't even been that great, so they had gone to get ice cream afterwards, as well.
"Okay, but I don't have a crush on him??" Jimin said as he angrily drank his iced americano.
"Hey, guys!" Jungkook greeted as he sat down next to Jimin at the table. "Yoongi hyung and I saw you guys, so we decided to join, if that's okay?"
"Well, actually-" Jimin started before he was rudely interrupted by Taehyung leaning over the table to clasp his mouth shut. Taehyung confirmed they could join with a sweet, 'we'd love it if you joined!' Jimin sighed deeply.
"Okay, cool! Yoongi hyung's waiting on our drinks." Jungkook grinned as he leaned back in his chair, perfectly relaxed. Jimin, on the other hand, was on edge. Jungkook had been too nice to him, and he was suspicious. There was no way Jungkook was that interested in Jimin. That's not how it worked. People would like Jimin for a month max and then be over him, fuck him then dump him. Jimin hadn't had a stable relationship in forever. He knew Jungkook would give up soon. Not that he was interested.
Jimin's rambling thoughts were interrupted by Yoongi approaching, "so, Jungkook and I saw you guys, and decided to pick up some food too. Butter croissant for Jimin and a triple chocolate chunk muffin for Taehyung." Yoongi set the food in front of the two and sat down next to Taehyung.
The two said their thanks, and started to eat. Yoongi started the conversation, "so, can we listen to your song?"
Jimin hesitated, sharing a glance with Taehyung. "Of course, just be gentle. It was one of our first times composing a whole song and singing it." Jimin glanced over at Jungkook before hurriedly looking back at Yoongi.
"I'm sure it'll be great." Yoongi smiled reassuringly at Jimin. Taehyung got his laptop out of his bag, opening it up and pulling the recording up. He plugged headphones in and handed them to Jungkook and Yoongi.
The two boys sat quietly, lightly bopping their heads to the beat. When the song got to the chorus, Yoongi's eyes widened causing Jimin to become nervous, but Yoongi slowly nodded along again. Jimin released his held breath and sagged his shoulders. It seemed like it was decent. Jungkook had been bopping his head the whole time and seemed to be enjoying it, which also relaxed Jimin greatly.
When the song ended, Jimin and Taehyung waited patiently for Jungkook and Yoongi to talk about it. Yoongi spoke first, "I think it's pretty damn good for a first ever composition. You guys are also both great singers, I think you both have different colors to your voice that suit each other really well. Maybe, if you wanted, I could rap the part that Taehyung did?"
Taehyung gasped, "what you didn't like my rapping?"
Yoongi quickly shook his head, words sputtering from his mouth, making no sense, "No, it's just... I'm better?"
"True." Taehyung relented.
Jimin bit his lip as he shifted his focus to Jungkook, "what did you think?"
Jungkook smiled brightly as he replied, "your voice is beautiful, hyung. Honestly you are an amazing singer, and the song itself sounded so well made I was amazed. It actually sounded better than a lot of professionally made songs."
Jimin blushed lightly at Jungkook's compliments, a shy and small "thanks" left his mouth.
--
Two days later and Jimin had been minding his own business finishing some homework. His phone buzzed next to him, and hoping it was a text from Tae, Jimin checked it.
567-453-1256:
Hey mochi :-)))
Seen: 6:55 pm
Jimin furrowed his brow in confusion, he had no idea who this was or why they were texting him. In fact, he didn't know anyone he'd given his number to in months. Curious, Jimin texted back.
Jimin:

The other person replied quite fast, which surprised Jimin.
567-453-1256:

The only person Jimin had given his phone number to recently was one of his students in his dance class who had asked for extra practice. Jimin supposed it was him.

Jungkook didn't text back after that. And Jimin felt kinda bad, but at the same time he didn't because he wasn't going to lie to Jungkook. If he didn't like him he was going to tell him straight up. And he didn't like him, no matter what Taehyung falsely said.
--
“So, still trying to get into Jimin’s pants?” Yoongi asked from where he was lounged on the couch. Jungkook had gone over to his apartment to hang out and catch up since they’d been too busy lately. He hadn’t gone there to be patronized by his older brother.
“I mean, it started off as me just wanting sex… but god hyung, Jimin means so much more than that now. I think I might actually be kind of in love, like I’m 47.3% in love.” Jungkook sighed wistfully from the other side of the couch where he was doing his homework.
Yoongi raised a brow, surprised at the implications that Jungkook was hinting at. As far as Yoongi knew, Jungkook had only had a few crushes before. So Jungkook being 47.3% in love was surprising. It wasn’t that Jungkook was a player; in fact, Jungkook was just not super interested in dating. He’d only had a few one-night stands, and he’d only ever had one significant other. But that had ended due to Jungkook not being interested at all. So Yoongi was very surprised that Jungkook would confess his feelings like that. “How’d you even get his number?” Yoongi asked as he spotted Jungkook texting someone called ‘jiminie mochi’; who he assumed was Jimin.
“Taehyung gave it to me, he said I had a huge chance of wooing Jimin by texting him cute things.” Jungkook replied without looking up from his screen. His homework was abandoned on his lap as he smiled at the small screen.
Yoongi scoffed, “Taehyung’s a brat.”
“Hyung I know you like him.” Jungkook rolled his eyes.
“I don’t like Taehyung. He’s dumb and annoying and like not even cute, he’s only like a 2/10. Nope. Not interested. Horrible person.” Yoongi rambled as he angrily scribbled on his packet only to end up tearing the paper.
“Oh come off it, everyone can tell you have a crush on him. Here I’ll even ask Jimin hyung.” Jungkook supplied as he quickly typed to Jimin.
Yoongi widened his eyes dramatically. “Okay! He’s cute! I’ve had a crush on him for months! I want to spend the rest of my life with him! I admit it! Just don’t text Jimin, Taehyung goes through his texts a lot.”
“See hyung, it’s easy to admit you like someone.” Jungkook reached over to pinch his brother’s cheeks before he settled into the couch once again.

Jimin was going to kill Tae one of these days, he swore it. Jimin seethed silently as he stared at the guy across from him at the cafe table. It wasn’t Taehyung, the person who he was supposed to be meeting, no instead it was Jungkook. Jungkook sat there looking smug and gross as he ate his cake and talked about his day. Jimin didn’t know how he ended up sharing a chocolate cake with Jungkook but he wished he never did. Because this was torture essentially.
It wasn’t the cake that was bad, it wasn’t even Jungkook. They had hung out alone quite a few times and Jimin would talk comfortably to him. It was Taehyung, and the thing he’d set them up with. Jungkook and Jimin were alone at a coffee shop on Valentine’s day. Earlier, Taehyung had insisted the four go to a small cafe around the corner. And when Jimin had agreed, he’d ditched. So had Yoongi.
Now it was just Jungkook and Jimin, awkwardly sipping coffee and making eye contact occasionally. The cafe was filled with couples who held hands and kissed each other continuously. In short, Jimin was uncomfortable. Very, very uncomfortable. Jimin cleared his throat and glanced around the dimly lit room.
His eyes caught Jungkook’s, the deep gaze that was being sent his way confused him. It made his hands sweat and his heart stutter. Jungkook’s eyes looked full of emotion, full of… love. And the look was directed at him. At Jimin, the guy that had never had a stable, healthy relationship. The guy who had close to no self confidence and had only a few friends. The guy who’d had his heartbroken by his ex.
Jungkook spoke finally, his voice cracked slightly and he cleared his throat before restarting, “Um… so, how was your day, Hyung?”
“I mean… it was okay…” Jimin trailed off, not really knowing how to answer the question. Jimin had had a decent day, but he now thought it might go down hill.
“Oh, did something happen?” Jungkook had a frown on his face as he twiddled his fingers on the table.
Jimin shook his head, “no, nothing really.”
“Ah…” the awkward silence continued for a few minutes, both Jungkook and Jimin looked away and tried not to make eye contact. They were both confused about what to do and say. Until Jungkook broke the silence again with a sigh, “listen, hyung. I know you don’t like me, and I get that you’d rather be anywhere but here with me. I just want you to know I didn’t have anything to do with this, I was just as clueless as you. And I’m sorry Taehyung set you up with me. I’m just gonna go now…” He scooted the chair back and got to his feet hastily. He shuffled for a few seconds, as if he was about to say something.
Jimin bit his lip as he watched Jungkook turn around. He wanted to stop him, he really did. But he didn’t want Jungkook to misunderstand. Jimin would never be interested in him romantically, and if he stopped him, he might confuse friendly feelings for romantic ones. “Wait, Jungkook. Come back.” The words left his mouth before he even registered them.
Jungkook turned back around with wide eyes, very obviously surprised that Jimin called him back. He slowly approached the table and sat down again. “You… want me to stay?”
“Don’t misunderstand, brat. I’m just asking you to stay because you ordered the cake. I'm Sure you want more than one bite.” Jimin’s cheeks had rapidly became a deep pink color.
Jungkook slowly relaxed into his seat again, happy with the outcome. He picked up his fork and took a piece out of the slice of cake. “Anything interesting going on, Jiminie?” He asked as he swallowed and took another bite quickly.
Jimin relaxed as well, knowing that this was just a meeting between friends and no romantic feelings (on his side at least) were present. “It’s hyung. And not really, I’m a little stressed because the beginners class I teach with Hobi isn’t doing that well. They all seem to be messing up the same step.” Jimin huffed as he too started to munch on the slice of cake.
Jungkook frowned as he noticed the worry on Jimin’s face. “How long is it before the competition?”
“It’s only a week away and we are nowhere near prepared.” Jimin leaned his elbows on the table, setting his face in his open palms. He was pouting cutely and it took all the resistance Jungkook had left to not coo and pinch his cheeks.
“Maybe I could come in and help you and Hoseok hyung?” Jungkook suggested. Jimin looked surprised at the idea, and Jungkook worried he had said something wrong.
“I… that would actually be really nice, Jungkook.” Jimin smiled, a glint in his eyes that made Jungkook’s stomach feel funny.
“Alright, then.” Jungkook grinned.
--
The first date was unplanned and Taehyung and Yoongi’s fault. The second date, on the other hand, was planned entirely by Jungkook and Jimin. It was the night of Jimin’s competition, after it had ended. After Jungkook had come to the class to help them perfect the dance, they ended up getting better. In the end, they got second place. Jungkook and Jimin had celebrated with a trip to an ice cream parlor down the street. Alone. By themselves.
Jungkook and Jimin sat across from each other, talking about this and that while they ate their ice cream. They were smiling at each other, stars in their eyes, their lips hurting from laughing too much. Jimin snickered for the 100th time that night when Jungkook did another one of his goofy acts. After he noticed the giggle, Jungkook did it again. Jimin laughed harder, throwing his whole body to the side and clapping his hands together. He brought one of his small hands up to his mouth and sputtered a sentence out. “You’re such a loser, Jungkook.”
“I mean, you aren’t wrong.” Jungkook agreed as he smiled warmly at Jimin.
“God, why do I hang out with you?” Jimin asked.
Jungkook paused for a second, honestly wondering the same thing. Jimin had been super against being around Jungkook at first. But now, four months after their first meeting, he was comfortably laughing at Jungkook’s jokes. It made Jungkook giddy, thinking that Jimin actually likes him as a friend. Jungkook smiled as he replied lightly, “because I’m amazing and hilarious and the best person you know after Taehyung.”
“And Hoseok hyung, and Yoongi hyung, and Namjoon hyung, and Jin hyung.” Jimin laughed as Jungkook’s giddy expression fell.
“Okay, so I’m last on the list? Because I distinctly remember 2 hours ago you confessing that I was the most amazing person you knew.” Jungkook smirked lightly as Jimin groaned. It had been after the performance, Jimin had ran over and hugged Jungkook. He had thanked him profusely for helping teach the students and said how great he was and how much he meant to Jimin.
Jimin had to admit, he wasn’t really lying when he had done that. Of course, he’d never say that to Jungkook’s face. “Rush of the moment.” Jimin waved off.
“You’re adorable hyung.” Jungkook said as he quietly stood up from the table. He continued with a soft, “let’s get you back home.”
Jimin smiled as he got up from the table as well. He definitely didn’t grab Jungkook’s hand and cuddle into his side as they walked away from the shop. Nope.
--
Two dates turned into three which turned into four and so on until it was Jimin’s ninth date with Jungkook. He wasn’t sure where they lied. It was a weird grey area between friendship and a relationship. Jungkook would walk Jimin home after class and would hug him at the door. They’d hold hands while strolling around campus and around town. They’d encourage each other when they had an important test and they’d support each other when they did something they were unsure about. But when Taehyung would confront Jimin about it, he’d deny it all.
Taehyung had been watching Jimin and Jungkook from the window of his bedroom. The two were holding hands as they strolled down the sidewalk, taking their time to get to Jimin’s front door. Tae watched as Jungkook brushed a leaf out of Jimin’s hair and smiled at him. Taehyung couldn’t read lips, but he was sure there was something really sweet and gooey about what Jungkook said next.
Taehyung shook his head and leaned away from the window. He knew what Jungkook and Jimin felt for each other, it was just a matter of them (or well, Jimin) to admit to it. Taehyung had enlisted the help of his beloved Yoongi hyung to get Jungkook and Jimin together. So far, their plan had done nothing, sadly. Today, Taehyung was swerving off course and entering dangerous territory. He was going to just straight up ask Jimin if he had feelings.
Right as Taehyung was laughing evilly at his brilliant plan, the living room door opened and Jimin walked in with light pink cheeks. Taehyung rolled his eyes before he cleared his throat. “Jimin… why don’t u just ask Jungkook out already?”
“Because I don’t like him.” Jimin replied lightly, removing his jacket and throwing it on the arm of the couch. He proceeded to take his shoes off and throw himself onto the couch.
Taehyung rolled his eyes as he replied, “well you have to at least think he’s hot. I know he’s your type.”
“I mean, of course he’s hot. But I don’t like Jungkookie. He’s just nice to hang out with. And he cares about me a lot. Unlike some asshole I know.” Jimin frowned as he glanced at Taehyung.
“Okay, Jimin. Sure. He’s just a friend.” Taehyung mumbled as he plopped onto the couch next to Jimin. “But if you do end up dating him I won't hesitate to say ‘I told you so’, okay?”
“Yeah, yeah.”
--
“Jungkook, I’m afraid you’re going to get hurt…” Yoongi trailed off as he watched Jungkook choosing his outfit for his night out with Jimin. He had been choosing a shirt for the past 10 minutes, and Yoongi was tired of it.
“I’m worried too, hyung. But even if Jiminie doesn’t like me romantically I’m really happy with just being friends with him.” Jungkook explained as he buttoned up a shirt. He turned around and raised his eyebrows, gesturing towards his shirt. Yoongi looked him up and down giving a quick thumbs up. Jungkook groaned and took the shirt off, speedily putting another one on.
“Are you sure?” Yoongi asked.
“No.” Jungkook replied with a sigh, he was staring into his mirror a little too deeply. “But… I’m not going to be an asshole. If Jimin has no feelings for me, then he has no feelings for me. I can’t hurt him by not being friends with him anymore. I’m not gonna be a fuckboy.”
--
The realization was abrupt for Jimin. It was a startling thought that had barged into his head as he was laughing at another one of Jungkook’s antics. He had been minding his own business when this… thought had crashed into his brain at full speed. The thought that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Jungkook. The thought that he wanted to be with Jungkook, he wanted to hug him and kiss him, he wanted to support him and he wanted to be supported by him.
Jimin had gasped dramatically and ended up choking on his own spit. Jungkook worriedly pat him on the back, asking if he was okay over and over. Jimin grasped his chest as he coughed, tears fell from his eyes. “I’m fine.” Jimin brushed Jungkook off as he awkwardly took a step away from him.
Jungkook stared on confused, analyzing Jimin to make sure he wasn’t lying. Jimin smiled at him in reassurance and Jungkook smiled back.
Jungkook grasped Jimin’s hand lightly, pulling him after himself. “Come on, we gotta get to Yoongi’s.”
Jimin grinned even more as he felt his hand in Jungkook’s. The hand grasped his tightly, enveloping his own. Jimin blushed at the way that Jungkook’s hand covered Jimin’s completely. It was amazing how someone only a few centimeters taller than him could have such bigger features.
Jimin thought back on his revelation, biting his lip as he thought of the future he could have with Jungkook. He wanted that, he really did. He was surprised that he hadn’t realized his feelings for Jungkook earlier. They’d known each other for more than half a year, yet he kept himself clouded and oblivious about his own feelings.
Jimin knew he had to act on these newfound emotions soon. So he grasped Jungkook’s hand back tightly and walked faster to catch up, folding himself into Jungkook’s side.
--
“Okay, so… I’m like hecka in love with Jungkook.” Jimin confessed as he stared at Yoongi and Taehyung across from him.
“Really? Never would’ve guessed.” Yoongi drawled sarcastically as he stirred his drink.
Jimin frowned and folded his arms, “um, fuck you hyung. I just realized it a week ago and I confided in you two thinking you’d support me. Guess I was wrong.”
“Oh, come on you know hyung didn’t mean it.” Taehyung brushed it off with a wave of his hand. He started to talk again, “anyways, I told you so.” He smirked, the right corner of his mouth tilted up and Jimin glared.
“So, you gonna tell him?” Yoongi asked, sipping his coke.
“I think so, I mean, that is if Jungkook still has feelings for me.” Jimin looked unsure as he glanced at Yoongi.
“He does.” Both Yoongi and Taehyung nodded.
“Then, yeah, I think I will. Sometime this week.” Jimin blushed, clasping his hands together, awkwardly kicking his feet around under the table.
“That’s good. I’m proud that Jungkook will finally have someone who appreciates and loves him.” Yoongi smiled at Jimin, gums and all.
--
Jimin took a deep breath, focusing on the words he had practiced and memorized in the mirror that morning. He jumped up and down, trying to shake all the nerves out of his body. After hyping himself up as best as he could, he knocked on the door to Jungkook’s apartment. He anxiously bit his lip and rocked on his feet.
Jungkook answered the door, rubbing at his eyes sleepily. “Jiminie hyung?” Jungkook asked.
“Hey, Kookie… could I come in?” Jimin asked. He watched as Jungkook’s eyes widened. He would’ve laughed, if he hadn’t been so nervous. Jungkook nodded and let Jimin in.
Jimin sat on the couch and waited for Jungkook to join him before he spoke. “Right, so this is like wild.” He started, nervous laughs bubbling from his throat. “Like I’m talking, Dr. Phil or Jerry Springer wild. So we’ve known each other 7 months. And I know I hadn’t warmed up to you easily, but I’m so happy I did. You are one of my best friends, and I appreciate you so much, Kook.”
Jungkook nodded along, obviously confused about where the conversation was going. “Okay, hyung… what are you saying?”
“So what I’m saying is…” Jimin took a deep breath. “I think I’m in love with you.” He finally admitted, too scared to look at Jungkook’s reaction, he had closed his eyes. Jimin could hear Jungkook breathe in deeply.
There were a few seconds of awkward silence before Jungkook replied, “fuck… hyung.” His voice was broken; cracked as if he was still in puberty. There was a sad note to his voice and Jimin wanted to cry.
Jimin’s eyes opened as he apologized, “I’m sorry. I thought you still liked me. I’ll just go now. Hopefully we can still be friends.” Jimin got up, ready to walk away.
“No, hyung.” Jungkook grabbed Jimin’s small wrist and pulled him back. Jimin fell down across Jungkook’s lap, Jungkook apologizing for pulling too hard. “Hyung, I still love you. I just never thought you’d love me too.”
“I- I never thought I would either. But you somehow convinced me to.” Jimin giggled as Jungkook grinned back.
“Can I kiss you, hyung?” Jungkook asked. He stared into Jimin’s eyes deeply. Jimin nodded, a small yes left his mouth before Jungkook pressed their lips together.
--
Jungkook’s smile practically stretched from ear to ear, that’s how happy he was. He couldn’t stop the blinding smile that showed his teeth and made his eyes crinkle. He was too busy watching Jimin. Jungkook fully accepted just how whipped he was. His heart ached every time he saw his boyfriend, and his body was jittery around him no matter what. The two had been dating for well over 2 months, and yet Jungkook still pined for him. He made sure Jimin was always happy and comfortable in their relationship, and Jimin did the same for Jungkook.
It was a mutually supportive relationship that both were happy with and proud of. It made Jungkook beam and laugh with delight whenever Jimin said ‘I love you’ to Jungkook or even simply looked at him. Jungkook was often called dramatic by Taehyung hyung and Yoongi hyung because of how often he not only proclaimed his love for Jimin, but how he showed it as well. Jungkook was finally happy with how his life was going. And he wanted it to stay that way.
With a shake of his head, Jungkook concentrated on his boyfriend once again. Jimin was sat down on the couch, feet curled up next to his small body. Jungkook’s too-long sweatshirt enveloped Jimin and made for a nice blanket. His head was rested on the edge of Jungkook’s couch, eyes trained on the TV.
Jungkook walked away from the kitchen counter, two cups of hot coco held in his hands delicately. Jungkook set one onto the coffee table before he sat down next to Jimin, snug against his boyfriend's side. “What did I miss?” Jungkook asked, his voice not above a whisper.
“Nothing really, Seohyun was being a bitch to Mirae.” Jimin pouted, his baby pink lips enticed Jungkook to stare at them instead of his supposed favorite show.
“Ah…” Jungkook dragged off, he bit his lips lightly, and his eyes fogged over. He wasn’t going to lie and pretend to pay attention; no, he was openly staring at his boyfriend.
“Come on, Kook. Eyes on the screen.” Jimin nudged Jungkook. Jungkook sighed, trying to excuse the fact that he wasn’t paying attention.
“But hyung, you’re so pretty.” Jungkook whispered, he pressed a light kiss to Jimin’s cheek and grabbed his small hands. Jungkook giggled as Jimin flushed a light pink, he was always the cutest. Jungkook intertwined their fingers and looked down at their hands. “I love your hands, hyung. They fit so well in mine.” Jungkook still spoke softly, too scared to speak loudly. He knew that Jimin loved him, but he was still insecure at times because of his initial hesitance.
“I love you so much, baby.” Jimin said, his voice quiet as well. He leaned over and kissed Jungkook lightly on the lips. A gentle press, one that spoke for everything Jimin couldn’t say. “I don’t know how I could resist you for so long and I’m so sorry for hurting you, but I love you. I love you so much it hurts.”
“I love you too, hyung.” Jungkook kissed Jimin, his lips melding against Jimin’s. The kiss deepened, and became passionate. Jungkook groaned as Jimin nipped on his bottom lip and sucked on it. The two were lost in each other, oblivious to the show they were previously invested in. Jungkook separated lightly, breathing heavily. He pecked Jimin once more on the lips, “you're the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
The rest of the night is spent exchanging words of love and passion while kissing both lightly and deeply. They were completely invested in each other. They were completely in love.
--
Bangs on his door is what woke Jungkook up. It was 3 in the morning, and Jungkook had zero idea who could be at his door this early. He rubbed his eyes as he stumbled to his front door. He opened it hastily, about to yell at whoever was there. He stopped himself as he saw who it was. “Secretary Ahn?” Jungkook asked, standing upright immediately.
“You’re father has suffered a stroke, you are to take over the company until he recovers fully.” Secretary Ahn announced as he let himself into Jungkook’s apartment. “Pack your things, you’re returning to the company by Thursday.”
Jungkook tried to wrap his head around everything that was going on. He stumbled as his head spun. “But, I have a life, I have a bo- I have friends..” Jungkook tried to explain, catching himself before he exposed his relationship.
“You have duties before anything else.” Secretary Ahn responded, almost robotically. He proceeded to turn around and head back to his car.
Jungkook collapsed onto his couch, his thoughts going a mile a minute. Nothing was making sense in his head; it was all too jumbled and messy. Jungkook took a deep breath and tried to calm himself down.
He had to do something. But he couldn’t. Jungkook blinked back tears and brought his hands up to his face; he rubbed at his eyes and nose roughly. He wasn’t going to cry. He was a Busan man, and Busan men were strong.
He let the tears fall anyways.
--
In the end, Jungkook went back to his dad’s company. He left the school, making an excuse of how he had some complications with other students their. Jungkook was still dating Jimin, and even went out with him at least once a week on a date. He just had to keep the secret that he was a CEO. And he had to keep his dad from knowing he had a boyfriend.
Jungkook’s dad wasn’t necessarily homophobic, in fact, when Jungkook had come out as gay, his father had accepted him right away. He had even done some research and tried to find ways to support his son as much as he could. The response his father had given had encouraged Yoongi to come out as pan, and while it was a little harder for Mr. Jeon to accept, he tried his best with his eldest son as well. So, no, it wasn’t the gay thing that Mr. Jeon would be mad about. It was the boyfriend thing; the significant other that had been distracting Jimin from his duties the past few months.
Mr. Jeon did not approve of either of his sons dating at such a young age, he instead thought they needed to concentrate on the business. He couldn’t have them be distracted by someone when they had paperwork and deals to focus on. So Jungkook didn’t want him to find out, naturally.
Jungkook also didn’t want Jimin to discover he was a CEO in the making. It was mainly because he had kept it from Jimin for so long, he believed Jimin would be mad and leave him if he found out. He knew Jimin loved him, and he knew the older boy was very understanding and cared for him greatly. But if he had hidden this from him for months, it was natural for Jimin to be mad. It was natural for Jimin to think he couldn’t trust Jungkook and leave him. It was natural to drop everything they had.
Jungkook was scared that that would happen. He was scared of being alone, scared of the only love he had ever had desiring him. And so he kept it from Jimin. He acted like nothing was out of the ordinary, like he wasn’t the rich boy that he really was.
--
Jungkook was filling out forms in his office when the door had slammed open and banged against the wall, causing the hung up frames to jiggle. Jungkook looked up, startled from the noise. His eyes widened with shock looking at who was standing in his doorway. “Father?” Jungkook asked. “Shouldn’t you be resting?”
Mr. Jeon was obviously seething, his face was a dark red and his brows were furrowed together, a frown set on his face. He strode into Jungkook’s office, pushing the door shut behind him. He walked up to Jungkook’s desk, threw a manila folder on it, and sat down heavily.
Jungkook raised a brow and grabbed the folder. He didn’t know what was going on, but he assumed it was something bad. Maybe he had messed something up? Did he make an error, mistype something? Jungkook opened the folder and pulled the objects inside out. He turned the small rectangular papers around.
There, in his hands, were pictures of Jimin and him, holding hands, kissing, hugging, walking… doing everything they had thought they were doing in secret. “Father…” Jungkook started, blinking back tears that threatened to fall.
“Who is he?” Mr. Jeon demanded, spitting out the ‘he’ as if it disgusted him.
“I… he’s my- Father, I-” Jungkook stuttered over his words, at a loss as to what he should have said. He took a deep, shuddering breath, “he’s my boyfriend.”
Mr. Jeon laughed crudely and Jungkook cringed. “Boyfriend? And how long have you been dating him, hmm?”
“4 months, Father.” Jungkook whispered, scared of what his dad would say next.
“Jeon Jungkook. You know the rules of having serious relationships. I don’t want you dating anybody until you are fully capable of taking over this company. I don’t want you getting distracted or hurt. We’ve been over this.” Mr. Jeon was strict, his voice hard and unmoving.
Jungkook tried to protest, “but dad. I love him, and he loves me. And I- I’m not getting distracted!”
“I don’t want to hear it. You are to break up with him immediately. You aren’t allowed to see him again. I will send Secretary Ahn to explain to him.” Mr. Jeon left before Jungkook could object to his conditions.
Jungkook’s head fell onto his desk, his tears fell harshly onto the papers on his desk, ink smearing as he cried.
--
“Yoongi hyung.” Jimin greeted, eyes unfocused. Yoongi sighed as he spotted Jimin, his hands were shaking and his eyes were red with tears. He was wearing one of Jungkook’s shirts, the long sleeves covered his hands. Jimin reached up with one of the sleeves and wiped at his eyes.
“Jimin, buddy.” Yoongi said lightly as he sat down next to him. He reached up to rub Jimin’s back, but the younger flinched away and curled up at the edge of the sofa. “Jimin… I’m sorry for not telling you. I’m sorry for keeping this secret from you, if I had just told you and Taehyung from the beginning, this wouldn’t have happened. It’s my fault, I’m so sorry.”
“It’s not your fault, hyung. It’s Jungkook’s… and mine. Jungkook should have told me, I would have understood and supported him. But instead he sent his secretary to tell me. He broke up with me via secretary, how pathetic am I?” Jimin sniffed loudly, fresh tears threatened to fall from his eyes and he groaned loudly. “I hate him, I hate that I love him. I was so foolish, I thought he was different. I thought he loved me. But he played me. God hyung, I hate him.”
“Jiminie… Jungkook wouldn’t do this. Trust me, Jungkook loved you so much. He was head over heels for you since the first day he saw you. All he ever talked about was how much you meant to him and how much he adored you. I don’t want you to doubt yourself nor his love for you.” Yoongi continued after he saw Jimin wipe his tears and sit up a little, “if it was anyone who did this, it was my dad. Our dad, I mean. Jungkook is my real brother by the way. Father has always been adamant about us not getting into a serious relationship until we are ready to overtake the company. He doesn’t want us getting distracted and abandoning our duties as his son. It’s just father has always been harder on Kookie as well. Father knew that I didn't know shit ‘bout being a CEO, and he knew Jungkook thought it was cool. So he pushed him to being the perfect heir to overtake his company. And in doing that, he restricted Jungkook a lot more than me. Jungkook only ever had one friend growing up, and once he had graduated high school, he didn’t even talk to me anymore because he was so stressed to be the perfect son. But then he met you… and he wanted to change his life for you. He didn’t want to risk losing you, but Father found out anyways…” Yoongi trailed off and looked up from his lap to Jimin hugging his knees.
“Will I ever see him again?” Jimin asked, his voice wavered and there was a audible roughness to it.
Yoongi glanced away, “if Jungkook has anything to do with it, and if he loves you as much as he said he did, you’ll see him again.”
Jimin breathed deeply, “I guess that’s as good as it gets.”
--
4 months later
Jimin trudged his way through the snow, his body shivered as the wind picked up. He was on his way back from his last dance class of the day, and he really wished he had lived on campus this year. It was another ten minutes until he reached his shared apartment with Taehyung and Yoongi hyung. Those ten minutes would be spent ankle deep in snow and negative degree weather with strong wind blowing right at him.
Jimin groaned into his scarf and tried to warm his hands in his jacket pockets. He was shivering badly, almost like a leaf about to fall if a tree. Jimin continued to walk, contemplating of he should stop for food or just go home.
A voice calling his name startled him out of his tteokbokki related thoughts. Jimin glanced up from his snow covered feet and looked around. It was almost 11 at night and he was in a quite run down part of town. He had no idea who would be trying to get his attention right now.
Then Jimin saw it. A dark figure about 40 feet away that was approaching him quite fast. Jimin panicked, his fight-or-flight senses kicked in as he contemplated what he should do. He could run away, but he didn’t want to risk the chance of slipping in the icy streets. He could stay and fight, but he could tell that the man (or woman) was bigger than him.
Jimin was fucked. With no choice left but to run and maybe fall to his death, Jimin bolted down the sidewalk right as the figure reached him. There was a startled shout behind him as Jimin pushed his already tired legs to their fullest. He had just danced for 4 hours, he was in no shape to run full speed. “Park Jimin! Slow down! Stop Running!” Wait a second, Jimin recognized that voice.
Jimin stopped abruptly, almost falling onto a heap of snow. He turned around right as the figure caught up to him. The man (that was definitely a guy's voice) wrapped his arms around Jimin’s body to make sure he didn’t go anywhere. Jimin struggled for a little bit, but gave up when he grew too tired. “Who are you?” He questioned harshly.
“Wow, you don’t see me for four months and already forget my voice.” The person tried to joke, but Jimin stopped everything.
His mind halted as he tried to think of something, anything to do. Jimin blinked slowly before, out of peer instinct, he reached a gloved hand up, pulled back, and punched Jungkook in the face as hard as he could.
Jungkook fell to the ground, his hand clutched his nose as he winced. “What the fuck, hyung!”
“Don’t you ‘what the fuck’ me. You actual fucking asshole!” Jimin yelled as he looked down at a groaning Jungkook.
“Listen, I need to explain everything to you. Can you please help me up without punching me?” Jungkook accused Jimin.
“‘Can you please help me up without punching me’” Jimin mocked as he reached down to heave Jungkook up. “Follow me and don’t speak until we’re inside or else I’ll break your nose instead of just bruise it.” Jimin grumbled as he marched the block it took to get to his apartment.
When they reached the building, they entered the lobby quietly, bowing to the person at the front desk as they walked towards the elevator. It was an awkward silence, not at all like the ones the two were used to. They were both avoiding eye contact as the elevator made its way down. When the doors opened, Jimin entered first, pushing the 6th floor button quickly.
Jungkook opened his mouth, as if to say something, before he shut it abruptly. Jimin sighed internally. This was horrible. Not only was Jimin mad at Jungkook for leaving, but he was also mad at him for being here right now. Jimin was angry that Jungkook thought he could just waltz - or more like run - back into his life. He was annoyed that Jungkook wanted to explain himself four months later, as if he couldn’t have done it when it first happened. He was annoyed that Jungkook looked perfectly calm and happy while he was freaking out internally, completely panicked.
The elevator doors opened with a ding, and Jimin was once again the first one out. He lead Jungkook down the hall to his apartment, pulling out his key, he unlocked the door. As soon as they entered the apartment, Jimin looked around to see if Taehyung and Yoongi were home. “TaeTae? Yoongi hyung?” Jimin called.
There were muffled voices coming from Taehyung’s room, hasty footsteps and drawers slamming closed were also heard. After a few seconds of indecipherable yelling and banging, Taehyung’s bedroom door opened and both Taehyung and Yoongi walked out. “Hey, Jiminie. Don’t mind us, we were just… working out.” Taehyung winced as he came up with a non-believable excuse. Jimin was about to answer when Taehyung’s eyes met with Jungkook’s, who had been shifting on his feet by the door. “What’s the asshole doing here.” Taehyung nodded in Jungkook’s direction.
Jimin sighed as Jungkook tried to object Taehyung’s nickname. “I don’t know. He followed me home, said he had to explain something to me. I’m gonna kick him out soon so you and Yoongi hyung can fuck in peace though, no worries.”
“We were not fucking. We were merely working out, as buddies do. Can’t be lifting weights without a spotter, you know. Anywho, if Nugget Fucker gives you any trouble, just call me and I’ll kick him out.” Taehyung said.
“Don’t call my baby brother a Nugget Fucker, Tae. That’s not nice. He’s more like a Cranberry Fucknut.” Yoongi drawled from his place next to his not-so-secret-but-secret boyfriend.
“Yoongi!” Jungkook exclaimed, offended.
Jimin rolled his eyes, “I already punched him once, I can do it again no problem.”
“If you’re sure.” Yoongi agreed, dragging Taehyung back to his room.
“So, what is it?” Jimin asked as he crossed his arms and turned around to face Jungkook.
“God, I’m so sorry.” Jungkook started, he paused and tried to find the words to say.
“Is that it? You’re ‘so sorry’? Is that all I’m worth to you?” Jimin demanded. Jungkook tried to interrupt, but Jimin shushed him. “I spent four months crying my eyes out practically every night wondering why you left. Wondering why you sent your secretary to inform me we were over. Why you decided to hide the fact that you were a big old CEO. I tried to forget about you, because you seemed to forget about me. Every time I saw you on the TV smiling happy at a press event my heart shattered. You never really loved me, did you?” Jimin laughed bitterly. His eyes shone with unshed tears and he took stuttering deep breaths.
“Jimin, baby.” Jimin winced at the pet name. “Don’t ever doubt my love for you. You are and always were the most important person to me since I met you. You mean the world to me. And I’m sorry I kept everything from you. If you could just let me explain.” Jungkook reached out, but Jimin took a step back.
“Explain then.”
Jungkook sighed in relief before he started talking, “I didn’t tell you I was a CEO’s son because I was worried you’d leave me. I thought that if you knew I’d lied to you, you wouldn’t talk to me ever again. I was selfish and didn’t think of your feelings.”
“If you had just told me at the beginning, I would have understood.” Jimin started to soften towards Jungkook. He uncrossed his arms and gestured towards the couch and chair to sit at.
Jungkook sat down in the big recliner, continuing to explain his side of the story to Jimin. “I kept you from my father because he doesn’t approve of relationships. He thinks that I won't be prepared to run the company if I’m too busy dating someone. But then I guess he thought I was acting suspicious, so he sent one of his guards to follow me. He took pictures of us on our date, and my dad forced me to end it when he found out. I didn’t have a say. He sent Secretary Ahn without my permission and banned me from seeing you.”
“I thought you sent the secretary…” Jimin flushed as he thought over his mistake.
“No, I would never intentionally hurt you. I spent these past four months convincing my dad to let me date you. I would have snuck out months ago if my dad didn’t put security around me 24/7. I even had one guarding my door at night.” Jungkook spat out bitterly and Jimin smiled, just slightly. “I never meant to hurt you, baby. You are the best thing to ever happen to me.”
“I… don’t know if I can forgive you right now… but I can forgive you in the future.” Jimin said hesitantly and Jungkook grinned in reply.

“Park Jimin!” Jimin smiled as he shook hands with the staff and took his diploma, walking down the little runway and back to his seat. After 5 years of college, he was finally done at his performing arts school. Jimin was ecstatic to be able to finally open his own dance studio, and he hoped he’d have a future in music as well.
“Kim Taehyung!” Jimin cheered loudly as Taehyung grabbed his diploma and joined him in the seats. Taehyung grinned from ear to ear as he waved his diploma in front of Jimin.
“Finally, I’m going to be the best damn music producer/saxophonist/vocalist/dancer/actor/lyric writer that has ever graduated from this school.” Taehyung shouted as he kissed his diploma in glee.
Jimin giggled, “you majored in World Literature and Poetry, Tae, why isn’t that on your list?”
“Oh yeah, fuck.”
“You’re adorable.” Jimin patted his best friend on the head.
“Better not let Jungkookie see that, he gets jealous easily.” Taehyung mocked as his eyes glanced over to where Jungkook and Yoongi were standing on the side lines.
“Jungkookie shouldn’t be jealous of you, we all know I wouldn’t touch you with a 10 foot pole romantically or sexually.” Jimin laughed as he too glanced at his boyfriend.
“Tell that to 14 year old Jimin who was convinced I was the love of his life.” Taehyung smirked, his eyebrows wiggled as well when he made kissy faces at Jimin.
“We do not talk about Freshman Jimin! I was going through a sexuality crisis!” Jimin yelled, slapping Taehyung repeatedly. Taehyung burst into laughter as the last names of their class were called.
“Congratulations to the graduates of twenty-eighteen!” With a final shout, the graduates all flung their hats in the air.
As Jimin picked his hat up off the ground, he felt strong hands wrap around his midsection and he squealed. “Jungkook-ah!” Jimin laughed as he was lifted into the air.
“I’m so proud of you, hyung” Jungkook smiled as he set Jimin back down and turned him around. “I love you so much.” Jungkook leaned down and kissed Jimin lightly, he brought a hand up to cup his cheek and deepen the kiss.
Jimin grinned and pulled back, “I’m proud of you too, baby. You’re officially the CEO of your father's company!” They kissed again, happily letting their lips explain their emotions.
“They’re disgusting.” Yoongi scoffed as he looked away. “Anyways, I-I know th-that you like flowers. So I, um, got you specially made, uh, b-boquet. I hope you like it…”
Taehyung grinned at his boyfriend proudly, grabbing the bouquet from his hands, and kissing him lightly.
“And he says we’re gross.” Jungkook sneered. Jimin laughed, gripping onto Jungkook for support.
“I mean, to be fair, we are really cheesily gross.” Jimin amends. Jungkook laughs in agreement.
Their relationship still wasn’t perfect, Jimin was still upset over the catastrophe, though he had already forgiven Jungkook. And Jungkook was still having trouble convincing his dad he was capable of handling both the company and a boyfriend. But they were happy and they supported each other. And that’s all that mattered.

Bonus:
Five years later, Jimin was dancing in his studio, teaching his middle-grade class the basics of their next dance. “So then you step to the left and spin.” Jimin demonstrated in front of the mirror before he turned around to see the kids do the same. “Ah, Sunghee! Left, not right!” Jimin shouted just as two kids crashed into each other and fell. The class laughed as Jimin rushed over to help, hiding his giggles behind his hand. “Alright, I think that’s it for today.” The class cheered as they gathered their things and collapsed to the ground, waiting for their parents to pick them up. “Don’t forget! There’s no class next week because-”
“You’re going to your husbands gala, we know, Mr. Park!” The class echoed the same sentence he’s been telling them for weeks.
“I just wanted to make sure you remembered!” Jimin grinned as he walked towards his bag, searching for his phone. He went to his texts, checking to see if Jungkook or anyone else had texted him.
Kookie ❤️
hyung~ I’m gonna be at your studio in 5, I’m bringing jjajangmyeon!!
seen: 6:56 pm
Before Jimin could replyto his text, his students all shouted, “hello Mr. Jeon!” in greeting. Jimin turned around with a grin as his husband greeted each kid as he made his way to Jimin.,
“Hey baby.” Jimin hugged Jungkook when he reached him. Jungkook returned the hug, with a hello and kiss to the cheek. “So… jjajangmyeon?” Jimin asked with a lick of his lips.
“Right here, Jiminie.” Jungkook held the bag up between them.
Jimin pushed his husband away and snatched the bag from him. “You can leave now.” Jimin teased. The two sat down and began to ate as the last of the dance kids filtered out of the room with their parents.
“How was class?” Jungkook asked through a mouthful of noodle.
“Good, we just started learning a new dance.”
Jungkook raised his eyebrows and smiled cheekily, “you’ll have to show me alone, sometime.”
Jimin giggled as he shoved Jungkook away from him, “shut up.”
“I love you!” Jungkook shouted as he tried to bring Jimin into his arms. Jimin laughed again, tugging himself away.
“I love you too, you nerd.” Jimin replied as he ate some more noodles.
With the last of their food gone, Jungkook sat against the mirrored wall, Jimin’s head laying in his stretched out legs. Jungkook stroked Jimin’s hair lightly and hummed a song he’d had stuck in his head. As he stroked his husband's hair, Jungkook thought about their past and everything that had lead up to where they were now. “You know, I’m really happy you decided to pick Yoongi as your partner for that project all those years ago.” Jungkook spoke quietly, his voice barely even a whisper.
Jimin turned his head and looked up at his husbands face. “And why’s that?”
“I never would have met you if you hadn’t.” Jungkook smirked, leaning down to kiss Jimin’s lips lightly.
