"Haneul! Wake your ass up or you're gonna be late!" Lisa yelled from the living room.
"Ugh!" Haneul groaned as she stepped out of bed.
She glanced at the clock on the wall. It was 8:25 am. "Oof," she let out before walking out of her room.
"You really need to lay down on those movie marathons. I know you love them, but if you wake up late again, you better not blame me for not waking you up," Lisa, her roommate, teased her as she was drinking her coffee.
She was completely ready, uniform on, breakfast eaten and she was about to go out and work.
"Yeah, yeah. For your information, I'm not late. Just overslept a little," Haneul defended as she snatched a sandwich from the plate that Lisa had kept for her. Lisa rolled her eyes.
"Thanks for this." Haneul signaled to the sandwich.
"No problem. I'm going now," Lisa said and put on her coat.
"Alright. Be safe, I'll see you later." Haneul waved.
Lisa said her goodbyes and left. Haneul quickly finished her sandwich before getting ready for class.
Haneul is a film production major and is halfway through her first year. She loves movies so she did it with pleasure. Her classes started at 9 and to her luck, she arrived at 8:50.
Haneul was on her way to her classroom when someone joined her by her side.
"Hey, sleepyhead. How are you doing?" Namjoon asked as he slung an arm over her shoulder.
"I'm good. What about you? Haven't seen you for a while," she asked.
Kim Namjoon is her childhood friend. They grew up together in a town in Ilsan where they were neighbors. They even went to high school together. They were the bestest of friends. When they moved to Seoul together for college though, they both got busy with their own work. However, they'd still see each other on campus or exchange texts.
"Heh. You know me. I had to focus on studying for my exams last week," he replied.
Namjoon is a music production major. He's always been exceptionally smart, but he has loved music ever since he was a kid, so he followed his heart. It isn't easy, but Namjoon is a hard worker.
"I get it. It's okay." Haneul smiled up at him.
They talked a bit more until they reached Haneul's classroom. They separated and Haneul went to sit in her usual spot in the classroom, all the way in the back.
Students were quickly flooding in and soon, the seat next to her was also occupied by the usual person.
"Good morning!" Taehyung grinned at her with his boxy smile.
"Hey Tae. Good morning," Haneul greeted back.
Kim Taehyung is, just like Haneul, a film production major. On the first day of college, he conveniently went to sit down next to her. Somehow, they started a conversation and because of the great passion the two share for films, they were quick to become good friends.
Taehyung is a pretty popular guy. He has a lot of friends and his dashing looks helped with that. But he is also a real social-butterfly. Even though he hung out with Haneul a few times, there were more times when he would go out with his other friends. Of course, Haneul didn't mind as she had two of her other friends to hang out with. Namjoon and Lisa.
"Have you seen the movies I recommended last week?" Taehyung asked quietly as the class had already started.
"Mhm... I watched them all weekend. They were great," she replied, equally quiet. She kept her eyes focused on the front.
Taehyung softly laughed. "That's my girl," he said and put out his fist to her.
Haneul shook her head with a smile and bumped her fist against his.
The class was over and hours went by until she finally finished all her classes for the day. It was Monday and it was already exhausting. After college, Haneul had to go to work. Conveniently, she and Lisa work at the same shop. A rental DVD shop downtown.
It wasn't that far from her college so she walked before arriving at work. Her shift hadn't started yet, so she went to sit in the back as she talked with Lisa who was on her break.
"So how was college today?" Lisa asked while she prepared her instant noodles.
Haneul sat at the table and decided which movie she should watch today in the back of her mind.
"Like always," Haneul shrugged.
"Oh come on! Don't give me that crap. I don't go to college, you should at least give me some tea to entertain me," Lisa whined and sat down with her noodles.
Haneul rolled her eyes. "Get a life," she said.
"Hey! I should say that to you!" Lisa retorted. "You haven't gone to any of those college parties nor gone out to a club with me in so long."
"Yeah well, I have been busy," she lied and averted her eyes.
Haneul isn't very into partying or spending her nights watching as her friend got drunk.
"Ugh, whatever."
Finally, Haneul's shift started. After a few hours of working with Lisa, the store was finally closed. The store wasn't very popular since most people just watched movies online, so it was mostly peaceful, and that made working there quite nice.
After they closed up the store, Lisa and Haneul walked home together. Even though it was quite late, after they had eaten their dinner, Haneul went to watch the movie she picked out that day. Once it ended at around midnight, she went to sleep.
That was her usual day. It became a routine and she was content with it. She is happy with the choices she made to get to this point. She is sure it'll stay that way.
