I’ll Drain You All Away

Summary:

Haruka is worried her vampire heritage might put Minori in danger. She calls Minori to the rooftop to tell her to keep a safe ways away.

[MinoHaru Week 2026] Day 6 - Cover Song: Vampire!

Notes:

For anyone wondering, I did skip day 5. No ideas came to me when I sat down to write. 🤷‍♀️

Now, onto day 6! I was originally going to do Near, but I saw Vampire on the wiki while browsing and was like "oh yeah that's an option!" I have a soft spot for vampires so I kinda changed plans 😌

I made sure to toss in plenty of little references to the songs lyrics~ Hope I wasn't too heavy handed with it. Enjoy!~

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“YOU’RE A VAMPIRE?!”

“Shhh, not so loud, Minori!” Haruka hissed. From beyond the gate of the rooftop, she glanced nervously down at the school courtyard to make sure no one below had overheard the loud shout. “Yes, I am. The ancient blood I was talking about yesterday? That’s ancient vampire blood.”

Mouth agape, Minori stared blankly for a moment, her eyes off looking at something that was... probably in her head. After blinking a couple times, she finally found the words her wide eyes had been looking for.

“So, wait, I don’t get it. You’re saying your idol aura comes from you being a vampire?” Minori asked slowly.

Haruka couldn’t help but to smile a bit at the mention of Minori’s “idol aura” idea. “It takes a lot more than the inherent pull of a vampire to be an idol.” She laughed. “But that does sound a bit nicer than the way I was going to put it, so if it helps you understand.”

Even with the help of her understanding of “idol aura” to ease her in, Minori still seemed to look confused, even a little overwhelmed. Her nervous fidgeting, even when she was clearly trying to conceal it, was incredibly obvious.

“Ah!” Minori suddenly yelped, only to correct her volume soon after. “Does that mean you suck people’s blood? Like in the movies?”

Even though Minori was the first person she’d ever told about her blood curse, she somehow knew that was coming. Even if Minori’s tone was honest and innocent, her words still brought about a loud sigh.

Quickly realizing her words had hurt in some way, Minori spoke before Haruka could. “Ah, I didn’t mean it like that!” She blurted out. “It’s just the only reference I have to vampires. Sorry! I’m really sorry, Haruka-chan.” She bowed profusely.

“It’s okay,” Haruka said. “That was what the vampires of old did and humanity never forgot. Nowadays, we blend in and get all of the energy we need from other people’s love.”

Minori jumped at the word. “L-Love?!”

“Yes, love. Every show we do, I get a small amount of energy from all of our adoring fans, but it’s nothing compared to the real thing.” Haruka glanced down at the floor. “At least from what I’ve heard from my mom and, well... experienced now.”

Cheeks burned on both sides, though Haruka was sure whatever the heat she felt looked like was nothing compared to the absolute furnace of a blush on Minori’s face. Considering her hands went up to wave away the flash of heat she was experiencing, Minori was absolutely blushing harder.

There was a brief silence while Haruka tried to gather all the feelings scattered all over the floor. Their first kiss had happened. Here. On the rooftop. It was a freak incident of circumstances she was still guilty about. If anything, Haruka wanted to apologize again for her vampiric aura’s influence on her love.

But Minori wouldn’t like that.

“So...” Minori’s fire had not been quelled. Instead, it seemed to blaze forward. “All I need to do is give you love?” The words came out so confidently that they seemed to lash back at Minori. She suddenly swiveled around to hide her face and stuttered, “Ah! Did I really just say that?!”

The words were well meaning, cute, even, but they stung like the lingering pain from a bite wound. Nervously, Haruka bit her bottom lip, gently enough that her sharp cuspids didn’t pierce, fearing for the possible future her weakness had invited.

“That’s not why I invited you up here. I only wanted to explain what happened fully,” Haruka said.

Minori turned back around quickly. “But love’s all you need to survive right?”

“...basically, yes. Why?”

“Then... I can give you that,” Minori said. Her eyes shot to the ground for a moment, but they quickly returned back to Haruka with new resolve. “I can give you all of the love you’ll ever need, Haruka-chan!”

Haruka’s heart fluttered, but it only flew up to meet her fear. Everything was turning out exactly how’d she expected. This was why she’d called Minori to the rooftop.

“I appreciate the thought, Minori. I really do, but...” Haruka looked longingly toward the waning moon, it’s soft light still visible through the afternoon sky. “I’ll drain you all away.”

Confused, Minori looked toward the same moon. “What do you mean? I felt the drain when you k-kissed me, but I woke up fine anyway, right?” She said.

Haruka shook her head. “That’s now, but as I get older, I’ll need more and more energy to sustain my lifeforce, and, each time I do, it will take from yours.” Haruka looked Minori seriously in the eyes. “I learned that every time I kissed you, you lost minutes off your life. I’m sorry, I’ve already taken some of your life from you. You should... stay away from me.”

As Haruka looked down in shame, holding back the tears that welled up against her eyes, she felt warmth collapse around her body. She looked back up to see Minori, squeezing her tightly in a comforting embrace.

“That doesn’t matter to me!” She shouted.

Tears that’d been suppressed now fell freely as Minori squeezed them free. “I already told you I loved you!” She said. “I love all of you! So what if I lose a couple days off my life? That doesn’t matter if I get to spend them with you!”

Through her trickling tears, Haruka could feel the slow glow of love filling her body. The cold, silent guilt grasping her heart gorged on newfound warmth until the shimmering succulence of love filled it’s need.

Minori pulled back from the hug to look Haruka in the eyes. Her smile was so warm. “Even if you sucked all of my blood away like one of those scary vampires in the movies, I would still love all of you,” she said.

Even Haruka’s sobs couldn’t hold back her laugh. “Even if you turn?”

“I would gladly turn into a vampire for you.” Minori rested her head against Haruka’s shoulder. Clearly all of the love she was giving Haruka was slowly making her tired. Her eyelids drooped between closed and open as she looked dreamily at the target of her love.

Haruka couldn’t feel guilty anymore.

As if Minori had an aura of attraction of her own, Haruka felt her self pulled in. Her lips puckered as she drifted toward the one who held her close. The desire she’d tried to hold back finally surfaced fully as it’s own as Haruka approached for a kiss.

Minori’s eyes opened just in time to see what was coming, but the tired smile that crept onto her face spoke a resounding “yes.”

“Well then, please give me lots of love, Minori,” Haruka whispered as her kiss sent Minori into a deep sleep against her shoulder. Her soft breathing seemed so happy.

Notes:

If it seems like there's context missing, there's a good reason for that... 😵‍💫 I will not lie, this is a direct sequel to Enticing Beauty by Blood, or at least it's a draft for a scene from a future chapter 2.

I hope it was still enjoyable even if missing the context. Thanks for reading!
