Work Text:
“Seriously babe, are you sure everyone was sent the schedule? Including the plus-one guests?” Nathaniel asked this— and many other questions— for the hundredth time this night. He’d been pacing around Marc’s room for the past 20 minutes, you’d think he’d form a dent in the floor.
Marc sat on the edge of his bed, listening intently to Nathaniel’s rambling. It’s been like this for the past month, ever since it hit May 25th and Nathaniel realized they were getting married in a month.
“Nath, I think you’ve double then triple then quadruple checked everything that was planned for tomorrow. It’s high time you sat down and started thinking about all the fun we’re gonna have tomorrow!” Marc’s voice was croaky from the late hour of the night, but it still radiated the sweet tone he’d always had. Nathaniel found comfort in it, it always soothed him.
”Yeah but—“ The ginger slowed down slightly, his movement slowing to a halt. “I’m just scared it won’t be perfect. That maybe, something might go wrong.”
Marc’s eyes softened, but his voice never faltered. “Nothing could possibly go wrong tomorrow. It’s gonna be our special day, and no event or sudden shock will ever ruin it. It’ll be the start to an even longer adventure between the two of us, something special, and beautiful.”
No wonder Marc was the writer. They always had such an amazing way with words, it always brought Nathaniel’s spirits up.
The red-head inched towards the bed, and sat down next to his fiancé. He rested his head on Marc’s shoulder, letting the warmth of their shoulder soothe him.
There was a pause in the conversation, until Nathaniel finally replied. “You’re right love, tomorrow will be special no matter what.”
At this, Marc smiled so brightly, Nathaniel wanted to melt into a puddle. Yeah, Marc’s right. Tomorrow would be amazing, no matter what.

The night was starting to edge towards its later hours, the clock’s hands creeping much past midnight. Sleep was obviously very important before big days, but that never stopped Nathaniel! (Especially before exams, Marc can confirm. He was the one Nate stayed up texting all night.)
The two lovers were tangled up with each other. Marc’s hands were stroking Nathaniel’s hair, their head buried within the crook of Nate’s hair. Nathaniel had one leg on top of Marc’s torso, and the other stretched out, almost dangling off the bed.
They weren’t speaking or anything, just embracing each other. The silence was comforting, a warm feeling that soothed them both. Marc was almost asleep at this point, his eyes drifting between open and shut.
”Can we kiss? I feel like I shouldn’t need to ask that but like, you know…” The sudden sound of Nathaniel’s voice jolted Marc back to reality. Was he seriously asking this? But then, who was Marc to say no?
”Hmmm, let me think…” Marc smiled, as if he were contemplating a difficult situation. “Of course love.”
Marc pulled Nathaniel in for a small kiss. His lips pressed against the others with a slow rhythm. It was soft, sweet, and lovely. There was so urgency, no fire, just pure sweetness.
Nathaniel tasted like moonlight, whatever that meant. His lips weren’t cold, but they weren’t warm. It was like sinking into the sea, except the sea was rocking you in such a way your entire body was affected.
The two broke away for a quick draw of air. They held eye contact, slowly breaking into smiles, and then light laughter. It was so refreshing. Just basking in the company of each other, nothing else could be better.
“Marc…I love you. I really love you, and I cannot wait for tomorrow. You and I… we’re— we…” The words to describe it were nonexistent. This could only be portrayed in an obscure way, something only Nathaniel and Marc would understand.
“I love you too Nath, I love you too.” Marc searched for Nathaniel’s hand and squeezed it tightly, gently stroking the back with their thumb.
