You slowly open your eyes.
You've just awoken from the best slumber ever, just to be greeted by your Boss holding your favorite breakfast in his hands.
Well, he's your dad, but it's kind of weird to think of that.
He isn't actually your father, yet he adopted you. He took you in when he found you. He never questioned your past, what led you to the place he met you, why you acted like you were in such a rush; he just accepted it, and called you his child.
“I heard you had a hard day yesterday. You don't have to tell me about it, I just want you to know I'm here." He sits the breakfast on your bedside table and sits down beside you. His gloved hand finds your face, and wipes off your drool.
Corvus even fixes your crooked blanket. He always dotes on you or preens you.
You're not quite sure why, but he's shared a lot about himself to you. You do know that he's super old, because he shared that he has lots of life experience. You called him the age you thought he was, but you were far off!
Honestly, a lot of his behaviors are probably just explained by how old he is.
You remember calling him unc, and that had you explaining slang to him. The best part was how intently he listened. It's always funny when he says slang around the other Cleaners. You try to hold back a smile when you remember him calling Semiu “twin”.
You don't smile, though. You remembered yesterday and the days before.
Corvus was on his little business trip where he visited a friend of his named Kuro. You met Kuro once. You thought Kuro was pretty cool.
A few days ago was when he got back, and you, along with some other Cleaners you aren't as close to, were assigned to a mission sometime after Corvus told Rudo about a lady in Penta No man's land.
Go visit the lady of Penta who has allegedly seen someone cross the border between the Ground, and Sphere.
You all went to get protection spells drawn on too, and you found out the really cool spellcaster passed. That also upset you.
When you all went to the actual place, the story of the girl deeply upset you, along with what else happened. She made you remember some memories you never wanted to relieve again. When you were out of that daze, metal was pierced through you. At least you survived, but the memories were hard on you. That left you to avoid everyone, and just head to your room to go to bed.
You look up at Corvus and simply say
“It's nothing, Boss."
He slightly frowns
“You know you can just call me by name, or anything else besides boss."
“I know."
He stares at your off look and then offers
“Would a hug suffice for a talk?"
You nod and sit up
You're engulfed by his warmth. His big arms wrap around. Truly, it's a grounding feeling.
You return the gesture.
His gloved hand finds your head as he pets your head. His other hand pats your back.
You can't help but sniffle
“You can cry if you need to, my sweet child. I won't judge, and I won't even look."
That's when you just sob. You feel bad for getting snot all over his chest, but you know he doesn't care.
When you were younger–around the time he first found you to be exact–, you had thrown up on him while you had a fever.
After you cried it all out, you pull away and he offers you the glass of water he brought. His smile is so warm and gentle, you feel bad for always taking up his time.
" Sorry, about taking up your time” you say after sipping your water
He laughs. His laugh is soothing to you. You want to call him Dad. It just feels wrong, because you don't deserve such a relationship.
" Don't be sorry, I actually prefer this over work. Either way, you're too independent for your age. You know, I'm always here."
Corvus smiles at you
“Now eat."
He says while holding some food on a fork to you.
He'll never let you go hungry.
You're so thankful for your Dad.

Sadly, sometime during the day, some of Team Akuta along with three members of Team Child were taken by Raiders. You only find out when Semiu storms into Corvus’ office, where you and him are just lounging. He is still drinking his coffee as Semiu scolds him for not wearing his choker. He gives her a simple reason for the fact that you and him were privately talking.
Surprisingly, she never scolds you for not wearing yours. Corvus told you not to, so you just don't. You honestly hate the feel on your neck. The wrist one also sucked.
He's not worried at all, he's honestly annoyed. He rings up Kuro and gets some information, you say hi to Kuro over the phone and Kuro of course tells you a joyful high and that he loves you. Kuro is like an uncle to you, so it's normal for him to dote on you as well.
Semiu finally reaches Enjin over the chokers.
You aren’t sent as back up.
When you and Corvus are back in his office, he groans
“So much stuff to do. Kuro still isn’t telling me full information without being so vauge. I am his brother, yet he still will not tell me everything.”
You look up at Corvus with a blank stare
He smiles
“What? You know I care about the Cleaners, but I’ve told you why the organization exists.”
You sigh
“Yeah, and I forget how focused you get on one thing at a time” You smile back at him
He’s doing that heartwarmed look
“My sweet baby noticed something about me and smiled!” He says with pride and joy in his tone
Corvus pulls you into a tight hug. You get bombarded with kisses on your head
“Dad!”
You groan, yet do night fight back
“I’m just so glad my baby isn’t as cold as always!” He coos. Honestly, he’s more like a mother to you. If you said anything about that, he’d probably insist on the title.
You hate being his sweet baby.
However, you absolutely love being loved unconditionally by someone who actually listens to you.
You’re definitely telling Kuro about Corvus being a softie when you visit.
