Underestimated

Summary:

In a world where Eddie Munson survived and came back *mostly* the same and Jason Carver didn't die ... Steve gets some revenge

Work Text:

"You know, everyone underestimates me."

Jason struggled against the ropes that bound him to the tree. The last thing he remembered was leaving practice, there'd been a pain in his skull and then nothing.

"They just see the rich boy, the jock."

Jason knew that voice - he'd idolized Steve Harrington when he was a scrawny sophomore and Harrington was a senior.

"If they only knew. But you're going to find out. Because you messed with my family."

A figure appeared out of the shadows as Jason continued to jerk against the ropes. The man was clearly Steve Harrington but there was an aura of darkness around him - he was dressed in steel-toed combat boots, a pair of jeans slung low on his hips and a white tank top. Clutched in one hand was a wicked looking bat covered in nails.

"I didn't touch your parents," Jason protested.

"You think they're my family?" Steve gave a dark laugh as he got closer. "They fucked out of here once they realized I wasn't just gonna tow the line. No, I'm talking about Lucas." A pause. "And Eddie."

"Munson? And Sinclair" Jason asked. "Family?"

"And a myriad of other misfits," Steve replied. "But right now, Lucas and Eddie."

"I didn't -"

"But you did." Steve gave the bat a twirl and Jason felt his stomach drop. "So you're going to learn what happens when you mess with people important to me." Steve spun the bat again and stepped closer. "You tried to take a few things from me, so I'm going to return the favor."

Before Jason could react he saw Steve swing, heard the bat whistle through the air, heard a crack and then screamed in pain as he felt the bat connect with his knee. The spray of blood that exploded from the contact decorated Steve's face and shirt in bright red droplets.

"There goes any basketball career you might have," Steve said, tone conversational. "Did you ever think about having kids, Carver?"

Jason barely registered Steve's question before he felt the toe of Steve's steel-toed combat connect with his groin - he saw stars and then passed out from the pain.

Sharp pain in his knee snapped him from unconsciousness and he registered a finger digging into the wounds on his knee.

"You were taking too long." Steve removed his finger and took a few steps back. "One last present, something to remember me by."

Another figure appeared from the darkness and Jason watched as the figure stepped behind Steve and wrapped arms around his midsection, long fingernails painted black scratching Steve's stomach.

"My dark queen," the figure rumbled.

Jason continued to watch as the figure tilted his head and began to lick the blood from Steve's face. Steve offered the figure a blood covered finger and groaned as it was sucked and licked clean.

"Tastes like fear," the figure continued.

"He's fucking terrified," Steve said, turning his face for a kiss. "Ready for this, baby?"

The figure nodded and stepped out from behind Steve - Eddie Munson stood a bit taller than Jason remembered, his eyes an almost opaque red over their normal brown and his canines were just a bit longer.

"See, Eddie didn't kill Chrissy, he helped save the world. My baby survived something you'd piss your pants and run screaming from. He came back a little different, but I love him just the same."

Jason gave a soft whimper as Eddie stepped closer, one of his fingernails easily slicing through Jason's polo shirt.

"He can still go out in the sun, still eats regular meals, still fucks like a god," Steve continued. "But every once and a while? My baby needs a little blood." A pause. "He already fed, so he's not going to drain you." Steve gave a dark laugh. "Did you think I was going to kill you? Jason, that would be too easy for a shitstain like you."

Jason quivered as he saw Eddie's nail approach and then screamed when Eddie started carving into his chest.

'SHITSTAIN'

The word appeared in deep red cuts against his skin and Jason fought against the nausea that threatened to make him throw up all over Eddie - he had the sense to not further piss off the man/creature currently torturing him.

"That's perfect, baby," Steve praised.

"Knew you'd appreciate that," Eddie replied with a dark smile.

"C'mere."

Through a haze of pain, Jason watched as Eddie and Steve embraced and kissed, Eddie's long nails scraping through Steve's hair.

"Fuck, that's the stuff, baby," Steve crooned, grinding against Eddie as they continued their makeout session, but then Steve pulled back.

"Gonna finish that at home," Steve said. "Not giving Carver a show."

"Of course," Eddie replied. "My dark queen."

"Ass," Steve said, tone light and fond. His gaze then turned to Jason and darkened. "We're going to release you - the main highway is that way -" Steve pointed. "-so you should be able to flag a car down."

Jason flinched as Eddie approached again and used his nails to slice through the ropes binding him.

"No one will believe you if you say it's me," Steve said as Jason fell to the ground and began to crawl away. "I'm the rich kid, the jock."

The last thing Jason saw before he made it through the thick copse of trees was Steve and Eddie wrapped in an embrace.

"Everyone always underestimates me," Steve voice carried through the trees.

"Not me," Eddie's voice followed. "My dark queen."

"Yours."
