"Look, I ain’t expectin’ you to feel the same way. But I needed to say it.” Bones turned away from Jim.
Jim hadn’t ever seen Bones look so defeated. All he wanted to do was wrap his arms around Bones.
Wait.
Bones startled as Jim wrapped his arms around his waist. Jim just nestled his face into Bones’s broad back, mumbling into his shirt.
Repeating Bones’s words was hard, not because he didn’t feel that way but because he never thought he’d be brave enough to tell Bones.
Jim pulled his face out of Bones’s back. “I love you too.”
