Work Text:

Soobin doesn’t want to go to the gym, not now, not ever. He’s never even had an inkling of curiosity about the gym. But he does have to go, because Yeonjun is begging for them to go together, and he’s afraid he won’t hear the end of it if he doesn’t just give in.

So, he pulls on his loosest shorts, ones that look comically big against his slim thighs, and laces up a pair of sneakers that he hasn’t worn in years. He can’t remember the last time he purposefully exercised. Most of his time is spent bent over on his couch, playing video games, or bent over his office desk, trying to understand how his intern is fucking things up this bad again.

There’s a knock at his apartment door, definitely Yeonjun picking him up, because the older boy had responded with about a million exclamation points when Soobin had finally said ‘yes’ to going. The gym isn’t that far away, but it’s too hot out for them to walk, so they take Yeonjun’s fancy car with amazing air conditioning and fans built into the seats. Soobin’s car is one that still needs a key pushed in the ignition to start.

When Soobin opens his door, Yeonjun’s bright blonde hair greets him, and he wonders how long one person can reasonably have blonde hair before all of their hair falls or breaks off. Yeonjun has got to be nearing the end of whatever that threshold is, because Soobin can’t recall the last time that he saw Yeonjun with his natural blackish-brown hair.

Instead of saying ‘hello’, Yeonjun asks, “You ready?” with a wicked grin on his face that makes him look like a naughty cat. Soobin sighs in response and joins Yeonjun outside, locking his door behind him. Yeonjun is wearing possibly the tiniest exercise shorts on the market, and a shirt that is cut loose on the sides, so if anyone really wanted to they could probably see his nipples. Soobin’s t-shirt is old, ratty, and has minions on it. They definitely have different goals for the gym. Different mindsets.

The car ride takes them about ten minutes, and Yeonjun doesn’t run any red lights this time– only one yellow, which isn’t as bad as it could be. Or normally is.

Even from the outside, the gym looks scary. Foreboding. A cold, unforgiving building made entirely out of grey-ish materials, and a sign that is blinding to look at it. Not welcoming or hospitable in the slightest.

“You don’t have to pay,” Yeonjun says, holding the glass door open for Soobin. “I get to bring a friend for free with my membership.” Isn’t Soobin so lucky that that friend is him? He knows that whenever Yeonjun asked Beomgyu to come, the younger boy had flat out refused.

He trails after Yeonjun listlessly through the lobby, where Yeonjun scans something on his phone and the muscular employee lets them both inside. So muscular, it’s crazy, Soobin didn’t even know there were that many muscles in the human body. Yeonjun’s confident about walking in, a complete juxtaposition to the way Soobin’s fraught nerves are working overtime.

When they enter the part of the gym that actually has equipment, Soobin understands that he is more out of his depth than he originally thought. There are machines lined up wall to wall, different sections with different objects, everything looking entirely foreign and unfamiliar. Some of these machines look like they could be medieval torture devices. Maybe that’s where the whole concept of the gym came from.

“I’ve got a routine, you can just do it with me,” Yeonjun is saying. Soobin definitely does not want to do the routine with Yeonjun, but isn’t sure what he’d do instead of it, so he follows lamely.

It’s a routine that targets every muscle that Soobin definitely does not have. He hates it. By the end of it, he’s sweating in a way he didn’t know was possible, and he’s had to re-do the knot on his shoes twice so far. He had brought a water bottle, luckily, and he’s greedily drinking the water down. Yeonjun does everything with practiced ease. It would be enviable if Soobin didn’t hate the whole thing so much.

And by the end of it, he’s more than ready to be done. But Yeonjun still has one thing left to do– something that is pretty easy for Soobin to do, thankfully.

They find two open treadmills next to each other, even though the gym is pretty busy, and set their stuff down.

“Just go at a pace you can handle,” Yeonjun says to him, before setting the pace on his own machine so high that he has to immediately start running. Soobin is not doing that. He puts his own machine at a brisk walking pace, something he can keep up with because he’s gay and tends to walk faster than the average straight person. His legs feel like jelly from all of the squats and various stretches that Yeonjun had made him do earlier. He doesn’t know if he can ever come back with Yeonjun, doesn’t know if he can muster up the courage to put himself through this again.

He’s staring at the fan that is not on a high enough setting when someone sets their stuff down on the treadmill next to him. He doesn’t look over because he doesn’t want anyone to look back at him. The thought of being perceived in this state is too humiliating.

Except, after the person sets their water bottle down, they start running. Like, faster than Yeonjun. So fast. Soobin isn’t sure he’s ever seen anyone run this fast before. The thuds of their feet aren’t even that loud, despite how fast they’re running. Curiosity gets the best of him, and he looks over to see who the fuck is running next to him.

And maybe he shouldn’t have looked. It’s a guy, probably about his age, with fluffy brown hair and a really nice side profile. He’s so focused on running that he doesn’t see Soobin staring at him with wide eyes.

Soobin lets himself really look at the guy next to him. He’s wearing a tank top not that different from Yeonjun’s, except his arms are muscular, thick in a way that Yeonjun wishes. Veins run up and down his arms. He’s shorter than Soobin, by a lot, but his body is definitely more built. He’s tanned, smooth in a way that makes Soobin want to pet him oddly enough. He’s attractive. He looks like one of those guys on dating apps that has a gym mirror selfie thirst trap, one hand teasing their shirt up and showcasing their abs. Soobin always stares at those pictures longer than any others. Sue him.

Except, Soobin is staring for too long, mind wandering, and he forgets that he’s still on his own treadmill. Meaning, he has to move his feet to keep up with the pace he’s set– even if it’s set to a snail’s pace. And he forgets he’s supposed to be walking, and before he knows it, he’s sliding off of the treadmill, falling backwards and flailing off of it like it’s his first day on earth.

With a thud, his butt hits the ground. It’s a loud thud too, because suddenly so many eyes are on him and he wants the ground to swallow him whole. He shuts his eyes tight. It’s worse than embarrassing, it’s mortifying. Maybe if he stays on the ground long enough, he’ll disappear. His treadmill continues to run as if someone is walking on it. The sound of it is louder than anything else, echoing in his mind.

He just fell off a treadmill because he was too busy checking out the guy next to him. Ranked objectively, this is the worst thing to happen to Soobin. Ever.

“Are you okay?” A concerned voice hits his ears, the shadow of someone falling over him as he opens his eyes. The first thing he notices is that it’s not Yeonjun asking if he’s okay, because Yeonjun is doubled over laughing. This is the last time he’s ever doing something for Yeonjun. He might have to stop being his friend after this. The second thing he notices, which he wishes he didn’t notice, is who the voice actually belongs to.

The guy next to him on the treadmill. Muscles and all. Staring down at him, some messy bangs in his face, brown eyes so big as he stares down at where Soobin is still on the floor. Wow. This guy is cute. It’s not fair when guys are muscular and also cute, it feels like the muscular thing should be compensation for not being cute. But this guy is both. His big eyes are shining, his eyebrows are furrowed in what looks like genuine concern, and he has an arm outstretched towards Soobin.

Soobin remembers he’s supposed to respond. Other people are staring at him, too.

“Y-yeah!” Soobin says, though his voice comes out shaky, like he’s not okay. “I’m fine,” he pushes himself up, opting to not grab the guy’s hand because he’s afraid he wouldn’t want to let it go. It’s better not to know what his hand feels like, for Soobin’s sanity and also his dignity. He gets up, fully, and is now towering over the guy.

Yeonjun finally decides to see if Soobin is okay, though there’s still a smile on his face, and it’s red from laughing. Soobin shoots him a glare. “Oh my god,” he says with a gasp, “I can’t believe you just fell off the treadmill.”

Thank you, Yeonjun, for bringing that up again. As if they had all forgotten about it. Soobin’s face is redder than it’s ever been.

“Good thing you have all that ass,” Yeonjun jokes, “Softened the blow.”

Scratch that, this is the reddest Soobin’s face has ever been. Treadmill-guy is still standing next to them, hand stretched out even though Soobin had declined to grab it, staring at the pair with a look of shock or surprise or something else on his face.

“Yeonjun!” Soobin says, exasperated. Soobin pretends he doesn’t notice the way Treadmill-guy’s eyes go to his ass, as if he’s fact-checking what Yeonjun has just said. Soobin knows he has a nice ass, that’s not the problem here.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” Treadmill-guy is asking, eyes going from Yeonjun to Soobin back to Yeonjun and finally back to Soobin. He’s assessing something from the way his eyes look back and forth, but Soobin isn’t sure what exactly.

“Yes! Yes,” Soobin says, “I’m fine. Thank you for checking.”

The guy nods, slowly, before backing off, going back to his treadmill that he hadn’t fallen off of. Soobin turns to Yeonjun, and Yeonjun gives him that same mischievous smile, before Soobin is grabbing their water bottles and practically bolting to the gym bathroom-locker room combination.

“What the fuck?” Soobin whisper-screams when they make it to the bathroom.

“You totally thought he was hot,” Yeonjun responds, “You’re okay though, right?”

Soobin rolls his eyes, because he is okay, but he would have loved that energy when he had actually fallen off the damn machine. “Yes,” he says, “just embarrassed.”

Yeonjun pouts at him, a signature look, one well-worn on Yeonjun’s pretty face. “Poor Binnie, do you need me to nurse you back to health?” He reaches up to pinch one of Soobin’s cheeks, making a puckering face at Soobin.

Exasperated, Soobin pushes him away. “No, I just want to go home.”

“We can do that, honey,” Yeonjun says, wrapping an arm around Soobin’s waist and walking them back out of the bathroom.

On the way out, Soobin tries to not look for the treadmill guy, but his eyes fail him, searching for that mop of chestnut brown hair. He does find him, except, when Soobin does, he notices the man’s eyes are already on him. Big and deep and pretty, and staring at where Yeonjun is holding Soobin’s waist like they belong to each other in a way other than platonic. Soobin pushes Yeonjun’s arm off, fast, like he doesn’t want the guy to think he’s not single. Not that he’s ever going to see him again.

Yeonjun gives Soobin a confused look, but lets it go, grabbing the door for Soobin and following him out.

“I am never going to the gym with you again,” Soobin says once they’ve safely exited the building.

Yeonjun laughs, “I didn’t even get to finish my workout.”

Soobin, annoyed, pushes him lightly, pouting back at Yeonjun. “Buy me dinner?” And Yeonjun concedes, so Soobin gets into the car with a smile restored to his face.

Soobin had sworn to never end up in front of these doors again. Yet, here he is, staring at them like they murdered his grandmother. They might have. Yeonjun rolls his eyes, grabbing the handle and opening it for Soobin.

“We don’t even have to get on the treadmills this time!”

Soobin’s walking inside anyway, because Yeonjun had bribed him into coming again, and there was also a tiny part of him that was hoping that the really cute guy would be here again. It’s a completely different day of the week, and they’re going later this time than they did last time, but Soobin’s heart still has a tiny sliver of hope left in it. If he’s going to brave the evil gym again, he at least deserves to be able to see a hot man again. Something something good karma for what he went through last time.

Yeonjun scans his phone again, and a different employee buzzes them in this time. She’s got five facial piercings and dyed hair, which comforts Soobin, makes him feel more at home than he had been the last time they had been here.

“Let’s just stick to… the stretches or something,” Soobin says, his arms crossed over his chest like a petulant child, even though he had fully come here of his own volition. Yeonjun nods, and they walk towards a more quiet side of the gym. There are a few rows of barbell weights on this side, but lots more open space for them to lay out two mats. Yeonjun starts them off real easy, with simple stretches that even Soobin can do.

They’re on the mat, doing some variations of ‘cow’ pose and ‘cat’ pose when someone moves in Soobin’s peripheral vision. He doesn’t pay any mind to it, focused on getting from ‘cow’ to ‘cat’, which really just makes him stick his butt in the air, when the person actually enters Soobin’s line of sight. It startles him a little, too focused on his thoughts, but he turns his head and looks over at the figure now standing next to him.

Fuck.

It’s him. Treadmill-cutie-sexy-muscular-nice-gym guy. The same guy that had shown up in Soobin’s recent daydreaming scenarios. There’s a smile on his face this time, not the same concerned look as last time, as he looks down at Soobin now in ‘cow’ pose.

“I thought that was you,” he says, and his voice is so melodic, Soobin could bask in it like rays of the sun are shining down on him. Soobin lets out a breath he hadn’t known he was holding in, but that might have had more to do with the yoga pose. At least, that’s what he wants to tell himself.

“It’s me,” Soobin says, and his voice comes out quiet, shy almost. He had never heard himself so reserved. The guy’s smile lights up, and he bares his teeth, and he’s got a pointed canine that catches Soobin’s attention.

“Glad you’re staying away from the treadmill,” the guy says, looking at Soobin, still in the yoga pose. This time, Soobin is sure that he’s staring at Soobin’s ass, because he makes a show of looking at the way Soobin’s body is stretched out against the mat. Is he flirting with Soobin? Please God.

“Can’t do it this time,” Soobin says back, letting a pout line his face, “Trying to not embarrass myself again.”

The guy looks back at Soobin with an earnest expression on his face, “It wasn’t embarrassing. It could have happened to anyone,” and he says it so kindly that Soobin could almost believe him. Almost. Anyone could fall off the treadmill from checking someone out too hard, but Soobin’s the one who actually did.

Soobin smiles at him, gives him a small laugh, “Thanks,” and he had meant for it to sound sarcastic, but it really just sounds sincere.

There’s a pause, which Soobin thinks isn’t that awkward, before the guy speaks again. “It’s good to see you again,” he says, and he looks like he wants to say something else. “I guess I’ll see you around?” It sounds hopeful, wanting almost. Soobin definitely wants to see him around, except, he wishes that ‘around’ meant anywhere but the gym.

“Yeah!” Soobin says, too excited, so he coughs and tries again, “Yeah, I’ll see you around.”

The guy smiles, leaving Soobin to his pose, and Soobin watches his retreating figure before he realizes that he didn’t catch the guy’s name. Or, he had forgotten to ask. With such big, starry eyes staring down at him, it had been hard to remember what to ask or say or even think.

As he walks away, Yeonjun snickers from beside Soobin. Soobin had even forgotten that Yeonjun was there, continuing on with his stretches.

“Come on, Bin,” Yeonjun says, that same devilish look on his face, like he can’t help but to tease Soobin, “He was flirting with you. We’re on frog pose now, by the way.”

Soobin doesn’t respond– just moves to copy the position that Yeonjun is currently in, which looks more sexual than the last few poses had.

Soobin’s relationship with the gym is like an enemies to lovers romance book.

He hates it, the building and its bright lights that work to highlight every little imperfection. However, it provides him access to the cutest gym-goer he’s ever met, so he can’t help but to continue to say yes whenever Yeonjun asks him if he wants to tag along. He’s even getting better at some of the stretches and workouts that Yeonjun has him doing, even though he’s still refusing to go anywhere near the treadmills. Which sucks, because the treadmills are probably the easiest machine to use in the whole gym.

He’s started wearing shorts that look a lot like Yeonjun’s– small and showy, even if they’re advertised as exercise shorts. He bought a pair of actual workout shoes, grumbled about the price, and then immediately noticed the difference from his old, shabby pair. He brings his headphones now, plugging them in when Yeonjun gets a little annoying. Beomgyu has started to make fun of it, too, Soobin’s new-found obsession with going to the gym. Yeonjun is quick to tell Beomgyu it’s not because of the actual workouts, but rather, in hopes of seeing Soobin’s gym-crush again.

Except, Soobin hasn’t. The last three times they’ve gone, there’s been absolutely no sign of the guy. It sucks, because that’s actually the only reason Soobin is going, even if he likes to pretend that Yeonjun is lying when he says it.

Tonight, Soobin is hoping he doesn’t strike out again. He’s lost the chance to learn this guy’s name twice, and is not wanting to repeat that mistake. If he sees him again, he has to do his best to get this guy’s number. Or Instagram. He would even stoop to redownloading Snapchat if it meant he could contact the guy. LinkedIn if he absolutely had to. He’s determined, if anything, so that’s why he picks out his sluttiest exercise shorts and his smallest tank top to work out in. If anything, the sessions with Yeonjun have been making the lines of his body more lean, so he might as well look good while going.

Yeonjun’s at his house ten minutes late, and drives them to the gym like he’s in a high-speed chase, but parks pretty well all things considered. Soobin and him go to the gym and say ‘hello’ to the worker– the girl again, who they’ve actually become pretty good friends with– and Soobin’s heart is racing. The adrenaline is probably good for his upcoming workout, if nothing else.

They walk into the gym and Soobin automatically does a scan of it, looking at every single person, hoping to spot a familiar fluff of brown hair and a perfectly sloped nose bridge. He’s almost given up hope, looking around the gym, when Yeonjun taps him on the arm. He looks at Yeonjun, following Yeonjun’s line of sight, the way he’s nodded his head, and his eyes land on him.

Gym crush. Treadmill guy. Overall, the really sexy, muscular guy that Soobin desperately wants to be bent over by.

He’s by the weight racks, curling a dumbbell that looks way too heavy for Soobin to pick up, his arm muscles bulging. Wow. What a sight. It’s beautiful. That arm could absolutely hold him up against a wall and rail him into oblivion and–

“Close your mouth,” Yeonjun laughs, “You’re gonna catch flies.”

Soobin does close his mouth, but shoots Yeonjun a playful glare. God forbid he look at the fine specimen of man currently working out. This is it, really, Soobin is going to march over there and ask for the guy’s name and not stutter and maybe slip a marriage proposal somewhere in there. He’s confident about this, for all the times that he’s replayed it in his head, thinking of what exactly to say and how to say it.

He starts to walk over there, abandoning Yeonjun because there are more important things to do right now. If all goes according to plans, his four month dry spell will soon be over.

And then, the worst thing to ever happen happens. Or, the worst thing to happen to Soobin in a while, other than literally falling off a treadmill. It makes Soobin’s blood run cold, stop in his tracks, a look of anguish pass over his face.

A guy walks over to Soobin’s man. Well, his stake has only been claimed in his mind, but still.

The guy is tall– around Soobin’s height, with broader shoulders and bigger arms and bleached blonde hair. Not blonde in the way Yeonjun’s is, more like an icy blonde, Targaryen-esque. Gym-crush stops his curling (nooo) and smiles up at the taller boy, laughing at something he says.

Then: taller man lightly touches gym-crush’s shoulder, with aching familiarity, an intimacy that looks natural.

Has he unknowingly been planning on a taken man? Was gym-crush not actually flirting, just really nice? That makes Soobin feel queasy. The taller one is in a loose black shirt, hair pushed back across his forehead, and is, honestly, really hot too. Maybe Soobin can work a threesome angle into this.

Instead, he turns around, eyes trying to find wherever Yeonjun has fucked off to. He can’t possibly talk to the guy now.

He finally spots Yeonjun doing some warm-up stretches in the corner, and is grateful that he’s chosen a spot far, far away from where the weight racks are lined up.

When Soobin walks up to him, Yeonjun looks up with a look of surprise. “What?” He asks. “I thought you’d be getting your back blown out in the locker room by now.” It’s only been a few minutes. Soobin is grateful that Yeonjun thinks he can pull that easy.

“He has a boyfriend,” Soobin sighs, dramatically, grabbing a mat and placing it next to Yeonjun’s.

“You talked to him?” Yeonjun asks, restarting his stretches so that Soobin can join in. They start in warrior one. Soobin is not feeling much like a warrior right now.

“No,” Soobin says, “But he’s with a guy!”

Yeonjun levels him with a deadpan. “Soobin, you’re with a guy, too,” He gestures to himself.

“Yeah, but not like that. We obviously aren’t dating. This guy was touching him.” It made more sense when it was still a thought, locked up in Soobin’s head, because Yeonjun is giving him an incredulous look. Soobin hadn’t even said a word to now ex-gym-crush.

“We touch all the time,” which is true, except that’s because Yeonjun is a clingy, little cat who’s love language is physical touch.

Soobin just shrugs, obviously defeated, downtrodden by the events of the past fifteen minutes. This is worse than falling off a treadmill, and he would know, because both things have happened to him. He’s back to thinking that the gym is a cursed, evil place. What else could possibly explain it?

They complete the rest of their stretches and sanitize their mats, putting them back in place. Yeonjun likes to do different things on different days (“It’s leg day,” Yeonjun had said one day, like Soobin would understand what that meant).

He’s desperately hoping that ex-gym-crush does not see them at all. He doesn’t know what he would say. Hey, sorry that I have fantasized about your biceps choking me. Oh! Your boyfriend! Nice to meet him.

They’re going to the ellipticals, which are different enough from the treadmill that Soobin has accepted using them, when it happens. He probably shouldn’t have thought about it so hard. He jinxed himself, or maybe it was the evil spirit that possesses the gym.

“Hey!” is what Soobin hears, except, Yeonjun’s mouth definitely did not just move. So that means it had to come from somewhere else. Someone else.

Like the final girl in a bad horror movie, Soobin slowly turns around to meet the person who had just said that. He’s hoping it’s randomly some other acquaintance. So many people come to the gym, it could be anyone. Maybe a co-worker, or an old friend.

He almost curses under his breath when he does turn around. Ex-gym-crush is staring up at him, with a smile on his face. And– wow, are his dimples really that deep? Soobin wants to dig into it and find out for himself. Lick into it, too, maybe. He swats that thought from his mind. Is it wrong to think horny thoughts about someone in a relationship?

His smile is so, so sweet staring up at Soobin. Soobin wants him so bad.

“Hi,” Soobin says, ghost of a smile playing across his lips. He feels like he should say something else, but can’t think of anything to say, so he just stares back at the figure in front of him.

“I haven’t seen you here in a while, I was afraid I’d scared you off,” the guy says, and there’s a moment of nervousness on his face, hesitation, which is confusing because how could this guy scare Soobin off? He’s all that Soobin has thought about for weeks. His boss had caught him daydreaming the other day and scolded him to get back to work.

Soobin laughs, short and sweet and a little scared. “No,” he says, and it comes out awkwardly harsh in a way he hadn’t meant it to. “I mean, I’ve just been busy! I’ve still been coming, just at different times.”

The guy nods, his smile faltering a little, like Soobin isn’t reacting how he had wanted him to. Soobin doesn’t want to see such a pretty smile fall off his face.

So he says, “How are you?”

“Good,” the guy says, “I was actually hoping I’d get to see you again soon.”

This definitely feels flirty. The taller guy is nowhere in Soobin’s line of sight. There’s a chance they’re in an open relationship, or maybe that threesome really could be happening.

“Me too,” Soobin says, frank with his words. “I– I never got your name,” he adds, and it sounds breathier, more nervous.

The guy’s smile is fully reinstated now. Thankfully. It’s so blinding that Soobin is afraid to look at it for too long, but can’t get himself to look away for even a second. His emotions play on his face so truthfully, with such a pretty smile, that Soobin feels himself getting caught up in it.

“It’s Taehyun,” he says, and there’s a tension in the air between them. Soobin wonders if the other gym-goers can feel it, can feel how they are definitely going to be fucking soon, regardless of the boyfriend or not. It’s a simmering tension, one that Soobin hasn’t felt in a while, full of excitement and earnestness, and something else he’s afraid to put a name to. “What’s yours?”

“Soobin,” punctuated with a flirtatious smile. Is it bad to flirt with someone’s boyfriend if they’re flirting with you first? The answer is unequivocally yes. Soobin can’t seem to find it in him to really care.

“Pretty,” Taehyun says, “Nice to officially meet you, Soobin.”

Soobin’s name has never sounded better. It rolls off of Taehyun’s tongue with such ease that Soobin instantly starts to relax. Taehyun’s voice is so sweet, so magnetic. Sensual even if he isn’t trying.

“You too, Taehyun.” If Soobin were to look in a mirror, he’s sure he’d see a blush lining the tops of his cheeks, and his neck, and down his chest. Because his flush travels down, down, down.

“Not to be presumptuous, but could I get your number?” Taehyun asks, and he almost does a good job of covering up the nerves clearly filtering through his voice. This moment would be so perfect, except Soobin has to be a good person.

“But,” he starts, and hates that he’s about to ruin it for himself, “What about your boyfriend?”

A look of surprise flashes across Taehyun’s face. Then, his eyebrows cross, and he looks up at Soobin with a look of utter confusion. There’s a beat of silence– as if the whole gym is listening in on their conversation, seeing how it’ll end up.

“Boyfriend?” Taehyun asks, clearly lost, “What boyfriend?”

“You know, the guy you were with earlier?” Soobin says, but it doesn’t come out so confident, and he looks around the gym trying to locate said boyfriend.

“The guy with blonde hair?” Taehyun asks, and there’s a smile on his face, like what Soobin just said is so funny, he can’t help himself.

Soobin nods, solemn.

“That’s– Kai’s not my boyfriend,” Taehyun says, and lets out a little giggle, so, so cute that Soobin wants to take a bite out of him. It’s an involuntary reaction, like Taehyun is just too cute. It makes Soobin’s heart run in circles, go haywire.

“What?” Soobin asks, “But you were so… Close.”

Taehyun is actually laughing now, and Soobin feels a little ashamed.

“We’re just friends,” he says, and his dimple deepens, and wow, what Soobin wouldn’t do for that dimple. “You’re always close with your friend, too.” Which is true and exactly what Yeonjun had said earlier. Every once in a blue moon, Yeonjun actually makes a point.

“Oh,” Soobin’s face is feverish, glowing, “That’s just Yeonjun.” There’s no other way to really describe Yeonjun, not any way that captures him really, so that’ll have to work.

Taehyun nods. “And that’s just Kai,” he nods towards the side, where the guy has reappeared. He’s walking up to them, water bottle in hand, and Soobin is suddenly intimidated. He’s normally the tallest person in his general vicinity.

The guy– Kai– finally gets to them, smiling at Taehyun, looking at Soobin. “Hi,” he says, and he looks back between the pair a few times. “Is this the guy that fell off the treadmill?”

Oh my god.

Soobin had been tempted to pull Taehyun into the gym locker room and absolutely desecrate the showers. Taehyun, scared of losing his gym membership, had made them compromise.

The backseat of his car is probably too squished for Soobin’s long legs, but he doesn’t care. Yeonjun’s car had obviously been a hell no, so it was good that Taehyun owned his own car. Soobin had told Yeonjun to give Kai a ride home.

Soobin hasn’t been in the backseat of a car like this in years, not since he was a teenager, young and messy and desperate in a way that he thought he had matured out of. Except, Taehyun seems to be pulling it back out of him. Making him too frenzied and too eager.

Soobin is currently crowded into the backseat, head at an awkward angle, pressed against the door handle. The door is tightly locked. The sun had already set, so there’s a blanket of darkness shrouding Taehyun’s car.

Taehyun is more or less on top of him, pressing him into the leather seats, one knee slotted between Soobin’s thighs like it belongs there. It’s grinding against Soobin’s groin, almost enough but not quite. He’s kissing Soobin breathless, one hand holding himself up. Taehyun kisses with what feels like all of the strength in his body. It’s on the edge of desperation, like he’s holding himself back just in case, as if it isn’t abundantly clear that Soobin wants this too.

Taehyun bites down on Soobin’s bottom lip, nipping at it with his sharp canine, laving over the bite with his wet tongue. It draws a gasp, breathy and high, from Soobin, and Taehyun takes the opportunity to slip his tongue into Soobin’s mouth. It’s a welcome intrusion, his hot tongue slick and sliding over Soobin’s, feeling around Soobin’s mouth like he’s searching for something. Pulling whine after whine out of Soobin’s mouth, heated and aching. The taste of Taehyun on his tongue is something Soobin didn’t know he was craving, but now that he has it, he never wants it to end. Wants to choke on Taehyun’s taste and scent. Wants to feel around in his mouth, pressing against his canines, drawing blood from his finger and making Taehyun lick it clean.

Taehyun does something really nice with his tongue, and Soobin can’t help the gasps that escape his mouth, only to be swallowed by Taehyun’s. Soobin’s fingers are itching to touch, to explore the sinewy muscles of the man on top of him, feel around and see what he can find. So, he does.

He pushes one arm under Taehyun’s loose, workout shirt. His fingers trace along the skin he finds there, which is soft despite looking so tough, scorching hot and burning Soobin’s fingers in a way he can’t help but to like. He lets them wander up, feeling the hard muscles of Taehyun’s abdomen. Hard in a way that can only mean dedication, determination. Hard in a way that makes Soobin’s head feel dizzy. Taehyun must like this, because there’s a low groan at the back of his throat. Soobin feels greedy for Taehyun, anxious to have him in every way possible, needy as he clings to Taehyun.

Soobin’s other arm, which was linked around Taehyun’s neck, moves to pull at the waistband of Taehyun’s shorts. They’re just exercise shorts, so they’re doing very little to hide how turned on Taehyun is. The proof is exciting to Soobin, the evidence of Taehyun’s want for him. He’s in the same boat, his tiny shorts not hiding anything much better. Soobin pulls the waistband back and snaps it against Taehyun’s skin, just to hear how Taehyun reacts. The sound is delicious as it makes it’s way down Soobin’s throat.

Soobin can’t quite get Taehyun’s shorts off at this angle, so he pulls back from kissing him. A string of spit connects their lips, and they both go cross eyed to watch it.

“Take these,” Soobin says, breathless, “off,” it’s punctuated with a whine. He wonders if he’s always been this clingy, this weak. There is nothing but Taehyun right now, and the way that Taehyun’s gaze dances over Soobin’s face with a smile, not a smirk. A face too beautiful to be marred by a knowing smirk because all he does is smile at Soobin like he’s the most gorgeous thing in the world. Taehyun smiles at Soobin like he’ll give Soobin whatever he wants.

“Okay,” he says, leaning down to press a sweeter, more chaste kiss to Soobin’s lips. It’s awkward for Taehyun to really take them off, the angle wrong, but they do eventually. He’s wearing underwear– of course he is, because he probably hadn’t come to the gym and expected Soobin to jump him in his car. Soobin grabs those too, pulling them down just enough, hungrily eyeing the sight that meets him.

There isn’t much space for what Soobin really wants in the car, so he decides that that will have to wait. Because he most certainly is not. He retracts his hand, bringing it to his mouth to spit in his palm. It’s probably both of their spit by now, with how deep Taehyun’s tongue was down his throat.

Spit in hand, he brings his palm back down to Taehyun’s dick. He can’t help but to stare at Taehyun’s face as he does, because he’s itching to see Taehyun’s face wrapped up in pleasure. Taehyun stares back at him, eyes big, holding galaxies in them. Taehyun bites down on his own bottom lip. Soobin wants it to be his lip instead, so he pouts his lips out, wordlessly begging for another kiss. Taehyun obliges.

Soobin’s hand wraps around Taehyun’s dick, giving it a trial pump, stroking it to see what Taehyun likes. Taehyun moans into Soobin’s mouth, loud, motivating Soobin even more. It’s becoming less of a kiss, now, rather, their mouths are just pressed against each other, tongues tangling with urgency. Soobin’s basically just drooling into Taehyun’s mouth at this point.

The slide of Soobin’s hand is probably too dry, but neither of them seem to care. Taehyun bucks into Soobin’s grip, like he can’t help himself. Soobin strokes him again, pressing his thumb into the slit, swiping at the precum that’s collected there. Taehyun, Soobin is learning, is extremely sensitive. Every touch of Soobin’s hand is pulling low, earthy moans from him. One of Taehyun’s hands has moved to Soobin’s hair, holding him in place, kissing him so fervently.

Taehyun pulls away, for a second, saying, “Wait,” and Soobin is confused but his hand stills. Taehyun’s other hand taps at Soobin’s hip. “Take them off, too.”

Soobin nods, dumbly.

“Stupid shorts,” Taehyun mumbles, “So fucking short. I can’t believe you wore those to work out in. Practically nothing.”

A smile makes its way onto Soobin’s face, because he’s glad that his sluttiest shorts are doing their job. With a sigh, heated and heavy, he says, “Wore them for you.”

Because he did.

There’s a fire in Taehyun’s eyes, and Soobin is more than happy to fan the flames.

Once again, the maneuvering is hard, and Soobin is thankful he’s been stretching with Yeonjun. His shorts are barely pulled down, because it’s easier to leave them on. His dick springs free, almost trapped in between his and Taehyun’s body. It’s leaking, and Taehyun’s gaze is on it. Soobin has never been shy, but Taehyun’s gaze is so truthful it makes him a little shy. There’s hunger in Taehyun’s eyes, in the way he sucks in a breath at the sight of their dicks– almost touching, hinting at release, something they both want so badly.

Taehyun steadies a hand next to Soobin’s head, against the seat of the car. There really isn’t enough space. With his hand, and a display of strength that makes Soobin’s mouth water, he wraps his other hand around their dicks, aligning them together. His hand isn’t nearly as big as Soobin’s hand is, but the sight of their dicks in Taehyun’s hand makes Soobin’s brain go fuzzy. “Oh.”

It’s intoxicating. Everything about Taehyun is. Soobin isn’t sure that one time will be enough, is sure he’s going to be desperate and obsessive and possessive of this for the rest of his life.

With a slow pump, shaky and not wet enough, Taehyun strokes both of their dicks, holding them together. Soobin’s aware that his dick is big, but next to Taehyun’s, in Taehyun’s smaller hand, it looks huge. Taehyun’s dick favors girth, burning red next to Soobin’s, and the sight is almost enough to make Soobin come instantly. He lolls his head to the side, looking down where Taehyun’s hand connects them, too turned on to really do anything else. One of his hands moves to Taehyun’s neck, threading through the strands of hair that trail down it. He’s got a really great neck, Soobin can’t help but to notice.

His other hand grips onto Taehyun’s forearm, the bulging muscle there as he holds himself up against Soobin. The possibilities for Taehyun’s muscles are endless in Soobin’s mind. He’s daydreamed Taehyun in about fifty different situations already, many of them relating to these same muscles.

The slide is soon too dry, and Soobin grabs at Taehyun’s hand. Taehyun looks at him, confused, because it was feeling good anyway. Soobin pulls it to his mouth, slipping Taehyun’s fingers in, sucking around them like they are Taehyun’s dick. Taehyun stares at where Soobin’s mouth is sucking his fingers in, lapping at them like a dog.

“Fuck,” Taehyun breathes out. The air in the car is red-hot, the windows fogged with their desperation. Soobin can feel his need as if it is a physical thing, floating between them, a sense of urgency that he hopes Taehyun is feeling too. He gags on Taehyun’s fingers, a little, and Taehyun starts to fuck them in and out of Soobin’s mouth. There is no sound in the car but the saturated slap of fingers and tongue.

When Soobin feels Taehyun’s fingers are significantly coated in his spit, he pulls them back out of his mouth, drooling a little bit. He nods at Taehyun, as if to let him know he can continue. Soobin isn’t going to last much longer, anyway.

Taehyun moves his hand back down, resuming stroking them off, applying more pressure. Soobin wants to come so bad that he can’t breathe. He raises his head, biting down on Taehyun’s shoulder in hopes of stopping an embarrassingly loud whine from surfacing. In turn, Taehyun lets out a breath, at the bite of Soobin’s teeth. Soobin doesn’t let go, instead kissing over the spot, apologizing for the hurt.

“Please?” Soobin mumbles into Taehyun’s burning skin, his voice dripping with the desire he feels. It’s sweet, almost, soft– makes Taehyun sigh, speeding his hand up. They’re going to make a mess of Soobin’s stomach, at this point, because Taehyun pushes Soobin’s shirt up further, as if he’s thinking the same thing.

With a particularly firm stroke, Soobin is spilling onto his stomach, coming with a breathy sigh, Taehyun’s name is the only thing that leaves his lips. His eyes are hooded as he looks down at their bodies, the position they’re in, as his orgasm wracks through his body.

It must do it for Taehyun, the sound of his name coming from Soobin’s lips, because he’s coming too, spilling onto Soobin’s stomach. Their come mixes together– it would be impossible to tell whose is whose. Combining and melding together, and Soobin lets out a gasp he hadn’t known he was holding. Wordlessly, timidly, patiently, Taehyun lets go of their dicks. His fingers twirl around in the mess they’ve made on Soobin’s stomach. Soobin hopes that Taehyun has some napkins in his glove compartment.

Then, his fingers, coated in their come, are pushing into Soobin’s wet mouth, pushing down on his tongue, forcing him to swallow it. Soobin would have anyway, and he sucks at the fingers, before Taehyun is pulling them out.

“Good boy,” Taehyun says, though it comes out quiet, like he hadn’t really meant to say it. It heats Soobin’s cheeks, furious blush forming as if he hadn’t just been jerked off by Taehyun.

“You too?” Soobin asks, so Taehyun’s fingers dip back into the mess. The touch is light on Soobin’s stomach, stirring up the butterflies there, and Taehyun brings his fingers to his own mouth. He licks at them, kitten licks that expose his pink, rosy tongue. His eyes don’t leave Soobin’s as he does.

“Happy?” Taehyun asks in response, a question to a question. Soobin nods, suddenly shy, even though his spent dick is still out of his shorts, trapped in between their bodies. Taehyun smiles, that big, genuine smile, and leans down to press a fond kiss to Soobin’s mouth.

“You have to take me on a date, now,” Soobin says, which is met with a laugh from Taehyun. He peppers kisses all over Soobin’s face, pressing them to his nose and his forehead and his cheeks.

“Wouldn’t have it any other way,” Taehyun says, and his voice is full of awe. “We can go on a gym date,” he jokes, “Maybe I can teach you how to actually use a treadmill.”

Funnily enough, they do start going to the gym together. Soobin doesn’t have to actually get a membership, just starts going as Taehyun’s plus one instead of Yeonjun’s. Yeonjun only complains about it for two weeks. The one time Yeonjun tags along with Taehyun and Soobin, he complains about them acting too couple-y. He doesn’t go with them again after that.

Like now, as Soobin is set up on the stairmaster. It’s higher than all the other machines, and is right in view of the weight racks. While he is stepping on it, he can watch as Taehyun curls the weights in, working on targeting different muscles. He had explained it to Soobin in depth, once, but Soobin had been focused on other things (like the way Taehyun’s back looked— entirely distracting).

Taehyun notices Soobin’s eyes on him, looks at the taller man and blows him a kiss. If Soobin were still scared of the gym (and Taehyun), that alone might have caused another fall. But it doesn’t, and Soobin pretends to catch the kiss mid-air, holding it close to his heart.
