Chapter Text
"Amy, do I really have to?", Ángel whined as he clung to her, dropping to his knees and clutching her hips.
"Yes you do, baby.", She smiled as she ran her hair through his messy, chestnut curls that he tried and failed to comb earlier that morning.
"Damn it.", He sighs into her stomach before standing up and brushing imaginary dust off his trousers and button-down shirt.
"It's going to be okay. We both have an important day today, so let's do our best.", She consoles him.
He nods hesitantly and she kisses his cheek before they both head out.
One of Amy's friends from her sorority picks her up and they head off to the university.
Ángel sighs as he flies down the freeway in silence.
I can't believe I didn't get in. How couldn't I? We studied for the same amount of time. We studied together for hell's sake!
He turned up the radio, effectively drowning out his thoughts via a DJ mindlessly chattering over obnoxious music.
His first day was horrible to say the least.
He arrived, already not-so-chipper when, on his way to his desk, someone with boiling hot coffee bumped into him and spilled it all over him! Not a droplet reached the floor or the person at fault. His white shirt wasn't so pristine anymore. He had to remove his shirt and put on a blazer in that freezer of an office. When he got to his desk, his computer took an hour and a half to start up and his code just wouldn't work for some reason. At lunch, the food he woke up extra early to cook ended up spilling the moment he opened the lid, so he had to buy something and by the time it arrived, lunch was over. By the end of the day, he got zero work done, had a stained shirt and a bad attitude.
Amy, on the other hand, had the most perfect first day ever. When she arrived, her sorority girls gave her a tour of the campus and showed her around with all the facilities before wishing her good luck. In all of her classes, she was able to participate and earn the attention of her biology professor. The lunch Ángel cooked for her was amazingly delicious and she got to enjoy that delicacy without a care. After her morning classes, she had none scheduled for the rest of the day, so she hung around in the labs doing a bit of research before taking the bus home.
Ángel arrived home, meeting Amy on the couch snuggled up in a blanket, laptop open, music playing.
"How was your first day Ángel?", She chirped as she jumped from the couch and ran to embrace him.
"It wasn't perfect.", Ángel sighed into her arms, not wanting to ruin her mood "What about you?".
"It was stellar! My biology professor told me for the first day, I was showing promising possibilities for my future. He said my attitude is just what they look for in biochemists, apart from their skill, of course!", She beamed as she went on and on about the little parts of her day that made her happy.
"How was lunch?", Ángel murmured, peeling his shoes off.
"It was tasty, baby. Did you enjoy it yourself?", She purred, stroking the collar of his blazer.
"No. It spilled before I could get any. Do you think we can order in tonight?", He pouted.
He knew how much she disliked fast food, but he really needed a comfort food right now, and unfortunately for her, that was his.
"Ángel...", She exhaled roughly.
"Please baby, I had a long day.", He whispered to her, hazel eyes glazing over her pleadingly.
"Fine, but you have to have a salad tomorrow, okay?", She negotiated firmly.
"Deal!", He shot up, smiling. His mood immediately switched. All she could do was shake her head.
He ordered a pizza and she made herself an alfredo with garlic knots.
They decided to watch a movie together until Amy decided it was time she went into bed. Ángel followed her in shortly after.
"It's going to be a long week, huh?", were Ángel's thoughts exactly.
Ángel kept replaying his entire day. He already hated his job. It's not like it wasn't a 9-5 but he wanted to spend time with his girlfriend. Then again, maybe he was just being dramatic. One day doesn't define an entire experience. Amy always encouraged him to stay positive, so that he will try to do. Tomorrow is another day, all he can do it hope for the best.
With that, he closed his eyes and drifted off, cuddling his already snoring partner and dreaming of her pretty face.
