‘Damnit’ thinks Ryuusui while looking into the mirror checking his outfit again. Tonight has got to be a special night with no mistakes whatsoever meaning his suit has too be top notch too. ‘Everything has to go smoothly.’ If Ryuusui has never been nervous in his life before then he definitely was it now. Who wouldn’t be? Since today was the day he was going to propose to his love Ukyou.
“It’s not too much is it? Ukyou hates too fancy stuff. I don’t want him to be uncomfortable.” rambling on to Francois who was standing further behind in the room about if it’s really appropriate to go with his outfit or if he should change again, she interrupts him “Master Ryuusui, I am completely sure that Master Ukyou wont mind nor care. You are worrying too much.” Ryuusui looks at Francois through the mirror with a conflicted look before taking a deep breath before looking down at the small velvet box in his hand smiling softly: “You’re probably right.”
Looking back up at the wall to look at the clock in his room Ryuusui noticed that it’s almost time for their date. He insisted on picking up Ukyou from his apartment meaning he had to get going in half an hour to get to his boyfriend on time. After all he hates to keep Ukyou waiting.
Arriving at the building of Ukyous apartment Ryuusui sits in his car for a little while trying to calm his nerves. “Everything is going to be fine after all I planned the whole day through. There’s nothing that could go south.” Ryuusui said this in hopes of trying to reassure himself. Exhaling a breath he leans his forehead on the steering wheel attempting to gather his thoughts. His gaze shifts to the bouquet of flowers on the passenger seat that he bought for Ukyou. It’s Ukyous favorite flowers lilies. He mentioned liking them on one of their first dates. Since then Ryuusui always bought lilies for Ukyou. That memory brought a smile onto Ryuusuis face. Taking one last big breath he grabs the bouquet carefully to not break any flowers and exits the car walking up to the building. Ukyou lives on the forth floor and obviously there is no elevator making Nanami take the stairs. Reaching upstairs out of breath considering Ryuusui just had to run up all those steps because he already longs for his cute boyfriend wanting to be with him as soon as possible. With his usual confident grin plastered on his face he pressed the doorbell with one hand while with the other hiding the flowers behind his back. Footsteps could be heard from behind the door before it opened revealing a smiling Ukyou dressed up in a comfortable sweater and his usual yellow hat for their date.
“Hello, a tad early today, aren’t you Ryuusui? What’s with the suit?”, asks Ukyou looking Ryuusui up and down with a questioning look on his face. “HA- HA has there to be a reason to look best for his own boyfriend”, answered Ryuusui with his booming voice as he put his arm around Ukyous waist pulling him closer. Adding quieter now to show consideration for Ukyous sensitive hearing:“Also I missed you”. “We literally saw each other yesterday”, counters back the older man but still reaching up to lock his arms around the younger one’s neck. “Well still” says Ryuusui dragging out the words before capturing the others lips in a passionate kiss. Ukyou had to suppress a grin at the eagerness of his boyfriend but kissed back just as softly. A minute passed before they separated. Ryuusui ducked his head a bit to lean his forehead against Ukyous closing his eyes and just enjoying the presence of the love of his life. They stood there for what seemed like ages it only for it being a few seconds before Ryuusui opened one eye grinning pulling the bouquet from behind his back. “Some flowers for the cutest man alive.”, his voice had a teasing edge to it. Ukyou just rolled his eyes at his teasing leaning back to get a better look at the bouquet and taking the flowers:“You’ll never stop saying that, will you?” He already knew the answer so he didn’t need to wait for an it and just let Nanami in and went himself to the kitchen to put the lilies in water. Ukyous apartment was small but still so welcoming. Ryuusui noticed it the first time he had come over and he just cannot ignore how warm and lovely it all feels not like his parents house where Luxus is the priority. The few pictures of Ryuusui and Ukyou that are hanging from the wall’s in the hall were observed by Ryuusui for a short amount of time. They remind him of all the memories the two men have made. After lingering a little longer he followed the other into the kitchen. Ukyou was just putting them flowers into a vase as two strong arms wrapped around his waist from behind pulling him into the space of the man whose arms they belonged to. Ryuusui nuzzled his nose into Ukyous neck breathing in his scent. The ears of the other man flushed a little at this gesture but nonetheless he turned his head slightly to look at his handsome boyfriend’s face. He leaned their foreheads together as he whispered softly: “You’re clingier than usual today… Did something happen?”, asked Ukyou voice laced with slight concern. Ryuusui just opened his eyes and looked into the others gorgeous green eyes smiling softly at his lover. “Nope, everything is fine. I’m just happy to see you!”, he said kissing the other’s cheek and then nuzzling it making the other chuckle. Inside Ryuusui was freaking out worrying if he is being too obvious and if Ukyou had already caught on his nervous state. They stayed like this for a few seconds before Ukyou pulled back and turned to face the younger one: “Shall we get going to the restaurant? ” The confident grin of Ryuusui returned as he answered: “Jep. Let’s go, my love.”
They have put on their shoes and exited the apartment. By the car Ryuusui, the gentleman he obviously is, opened the door of the passenger seat for Ukyou before going over to the drivers seat.
It took about 30 minutes of driving before they pulled up to the restaurant. Usually they would go to a less fancier place cause Ukyou feels overwhelmed by the whole expensive decor and food but it was still their third year anniversary today so he didn’t mind it. Stepping out of the car first, Ryuusui opened up the passenger door for Ukyou to get out before linking in his arm with the others arm. Together they went inside the restaurant, which of course just had to have golden glass doors and everything, where a butler showed them to the back and more privater room of the restaurant. Much more expensive but Ryuusui insisted on it saying there would be less people. “Give me your jacket”, said the younger man taking his own jacked off to hang them up on the hook by them door. As he did that, Ukyou went to their respective table. Sitting down, Ukyou glanced back at Ryuusui who was fiddling with his jacket before coming to him. ‘Weird, what was he doing..’, Ukyous thoughts were interrupted as the waiter brought them menus. After ordering they sat there just talking about anything and everything. The red wine which Ryuusui allowed himself to order from them both came first along with water. Next came the food and both of them fell into a comfortable silence just enjoying each other’s presence even though it was becoming increasingly obvious that Ryuusui was fidgeting the whole time. ‘CALM DOWN FOR GODS SAKE, RYUUSUI!’, Ryuusui was scolding himself internally for being so nervous. It came all crashing down on him that with every passing minute the moment of his proposal was coming closer. Knowing that, he was freaking out. He still had some time after all he won’t propose in the restaurant because he knows Ukyou hates attention and would feel uncomfortable as hell so he has another plan to do that. Does not make it any easier though. Ukyo either didn’t notice or he knew that Ryuusui would have told him by now if it was important. They stayed there for a good hour and a half if not longer, just talking, drinking a bit and just enjoying each others presence. It was getting dark. Afterwards the waiter came back with the check but before Ukyou could even take out his wallet Ryuusui had beat him to it, paying for the both of them. At that action Ukyou glared at the other which made Ryuusui grin back in response.
After gathering their things, they set off to one of to the coast where also docked ships. They decided to watch the sea and the stars from the beach there. Hands linked together they went on the path to the shore. On the way there they continued their conversation from earlier but not before Ukyou grumbled at Ryuusui for paying for his portion too even though he could have done it himself.
“How pretty”, said Ukyou upon arriving at the coast. The moon was high up and the sea was reflecting its shine. It was like in a fairy tail. “It really is huh.”, answered the other one back. A moment passed in comfortable silence before Ukyo started taking his shoes and socks off. “Come on”, he said softly to the other who just watched, “a bit of water won’t hurt, right”. He waited for his boyfriend to take his shoes of too before both of them stepping into the water with just their feet. “Today has been great.”, starts Ukyou. They are facing each other now hands intertwined together as Ryuusui sways those a bit out of nervousness. “Yes it has.”, agreed the younger one. Standing there looking at his lover, Ryuusui knew that Ukyou was his biggest desire he would ever have. He knew that it was either now or never. Inhaling and exhaling deeply, he started somewhat serious: “Ukyou,.. I have something to ask you.” Ukyou looked up at his tone with a questioning look, signaling that he’s listening. Ryuusui heard his heart racing. Ryuusui was getting more nervous and at the same time more flustered by the second: “… Ukyou, since the moment we meet I knew that there was something different about you and all the people i have met before. You never want anyone to be hurt or uncomfortable and because of that you always look out for others without wanting anything in return. And that is the most selfless a person can be. You treated me like a person with feelings instead of money. You didn’t care about my wealth and still don’t. You see me for my personality, my good traits and bad traits -heck you even excepted my greediness... I could never ask for another lover by my side than you. I want to be by your side until the rest of our lives and for many other lifetimes. That is why I’m gonna be selfish and ask-“ Saying that he let go of one of Ukyous hands to take out the velvet box from his pocket. Ukyou only started to realize what was going on when Ryuusui went down on one knee who wasn’t even caring that his pants would be wet as hell. His attention was fully on Ukyou. He held up the box with the silver ring which had a red, small but very visible ruby in the middle to Ukyou. “Ukyou Saionji, would you make me, Ryuusui Nanami, the greediest man alive, also the happiest one there is…” the younger man’s voice cracked slightly before continuing:”Will you marry me?”, his voice got massiv quiet by the end but he knew Ukyou had heard him. Everything was still for a few moments. The silence was driving Ryuusui crazy by the second. Ukyou just stood there mouth agape with hands covering it and eyes wide. Next thing Ryuusui sees is Ukyou tearing up saying softly through sobs:”…oh god Ryuusui… Yes, yes , yes and a thousand times yes, of course”. Even though he was crying it was obvious those were happy tears. Ryuusui felt a weight being lifted off of him as he heard his lovers answer. In an act of happiness and instinct, Ryuusui has stood up and lifted Ukyou up by his waist just to swirl him around. He didn’t even notice that he was also crying. At that action Ukyou wrapped his arms around the others neck and his legs around his waist to be steady. They stayed like that pressed together in silence yet again except for their quiet sobs.
Ryuusui had his face buried in the crook of Ukyos neck refusing to let go for even a second. “.. I love you..”, was the only thing Ukyou heard. “I love you so much, you’ve got no idea.”, muffled Ryuusui against the older ones neck. At his words, Ukyou held on tighter before pulling back to lean their foreheads against one another. A soft whisper escaped Ukyou:”Goodness…I love you so much too. Staring into his lover’s eyes Ryuusui could get lost in them, observe them without end non stop. After a moment Ryuusui closed the space between them, connecting their lips to a soft passionate kiss mixed with love and salt from their tears and as Ukyou returned it, Ryuusui couldn’t help himself as to grin into the kiss. After they parted Ryuusui let the other down taking his hand into his. “May I?”, he asked for approval and as Ukyou nodded smiling from ear to ear as he put on the ring on his now fiancé. It made Ukyou tear up again at the sight of the ring on his finger. Seeing him crying again, Ryuusui slimed softly leaning in to kiss away his tears, making Ukyou chuckle. A comfortable silence followed on eve again. “…. Now it makes sense why you were so nervous all day long.”, said Ukyou teasing the other. “Was I that obvious?”, asked the other face flushed with embarrassment but nonetheless grinning back. “A bit.”, added Ukyou cupping Ryuusuis cheeks with both his hands, pulling him down to his level. The taller one leaned into the contact as he was pulled into yet another kiss. Parting emerald eyes met copper ones getting lost in each other. They decided that they would head back to Ukyous apartment considering it really was a long yet most memorable day for the both of them.
Coming back they made quick way to the bed to go to sleep well except Ukyou who wanted to shower first in reality he just needed an excuse to look at the ring in detail. Afterwards Ukyou found Ryuusui already in bed waiting for the other. As Ukyou joined him, Ryuusui claimed the older ones lips in a kiss. With the kiss getting deeper, Ukyou parted his lips as a permission for the other to invade his partner’s mouth with hos tongue. Pulling apart, a string of saliva connected their tongues. They both breathed heavily before Ryuusui asked with a cocky grin:”And? Wanna do it for the first time as an engaged couple?” Ukyou pretended to think before answering:”Sure why not”,said Ukyou with the same grin as his lover. The rest is history.
Ryuusui was the first one to wake up the next morning with his hands tightly wrapped around his fiancés waist. Ukyou was still in deep sleep, giving Ryuusui the perfect opportunity to admire his cute future husband. Laying there observing him and glancing at the ring on Ukyous finger, Ryuusui realized that he would get to spend the rest of his life with this man he’ll call husband. He questioned what he had ever done to deserve someone like this. Scooting closer he lied back down closing his eyes as he heard Ukyous steady breathing. He could stay like this forever as long as Ukyou was by his side. Slowly but surely sleep caught him again and he felt at peace.
