Work Text:
"Alright you've gotta go. I work alone."
"Wh- huh? I thought you wanted me over. I came all this way just to bring the supplies!"
"Yeah, but unless you're going to keep quiet - which I know you won't, then you can't stay."
Okazaki dramatically sighed and rolled her eyes as she pushed herself off Ninomiya's bed. Grabbing her messenger bag off the ground. The small trinkets on her bag jingled together, most of which she made herself. She was pretty crafty.
"Leave the door unlocked, I'm coming back in a few hours." She said, putting the bag strap over her shoulder as she walked to the door.
"Dude It's like 11:00 pm. Where the hell are you even going?" He raised an eyebrow in suspicion. Whatever it was, it was definitely sketchy.
"I'm just going to hang out with Katsuji. You have no reason to worry."
Uh huh. Right.
Ninomiya sighed. "Hey if you're just going out to hang out, can you get me some more energy drinks on your way back? I'm running low." He was mostly just trying to keep Okazaki out for as long as possible, but he was actually short on drinks."
"Mmkay." She swung the door open and made a very flashy departure with her oversized coat.
"Pfft. She's probably gonna do more creepy stalker shit again." Ninomiya muttered to himself.
Whatever. He had more important things to focus on. Like his new project.
Ninomiya stared around his room for a moment. Thinking. Then he spotted Okazaki's cassette player on his desk. He brought himself up to his feet from the carpeted floor and grabbed it. He needed to set the mood.
Walking over to his nearby shelf, he began looking through his cassette tapes to find a good song to play. Sure he could've easily pulled up a song from his phone but he wasn't super big on using music streaming services as opposed to using an MP3 player or the radio. It just didn't hit the same.
Once he finished finding a song of his choosing, he popped it into the cassette player and pushed play. It began playing Dawn Yarn by Heaven In Her Arms. It was definitely one of his top favorites.
He looked back at the rest of his room and realized he should probably get started now.
Ninomiya grabbed his craft supplies and his black backpack. The craft supplies basically being paint and a pack of all white color pencils. He made a new penpal who was interested in his artistic abilities. So he was going to be sending some photos of his progress in a letter.
This was something he's been wanting to do for a while, he was going to give his backpack a custom design.
He considered painting with bleach since that also would've looked cool but he didn't want to risk getting it everywhere. Bleach was messy.
Ninomiya made his way to his desk and set everything down and took a seat. He didn't need to look for a reference since he already knew what he wanted to do in mind.
He took out a white color pencil and began to sketch out the design of a fish bone in the center. He wanted it big so it was going to take a while if he wanted it done right.
He got through two song loops before he was finish with the sketch. It was looking good! Ninomiya smirked in satisfaction.
It wasn't done yet though. Not even close.
He had some empty space around the middle zipper area at the bottom that he wanted to paint on. He debated between a set of fangs and a skull before ultimately making his decision to draw a skull.
As an alternative artist, he naturally draws skulls a lot in his free time so this didn't take that much longer. Halfway through he realized it would've been really cool if he had given the skull a spikey mohawk but unfortunately he was too far in and didn't have any room for spikes.
That aside, it still turned out really awesome when he was done. Now all that was left was the paint job. Which inevitably was going to take longer to dry, but it was doable.
Ninomiya stood up from his chair. Stretching and yawning after doing so. It was almost 1am so he was getting tired but he was far too committed to finish.
He swapped out a new song in his cassette player and continued working.
All he needed was white paint so luckily this part should be somewhat quick.
Or so he thought. Because it seems that Okazaki bought him some cheap paint so it needed like five coats per section.
