ready to ignite

Summary:

"Are you single, by any chance?"

The guy's eyes widen in surprise, even if just for a second. It's the first expression Seungkwan's seen on him since he started interviewing him.

"Yeah, I am."

"Great!" Seungkwan smiles a little too bright, if only to fill in the lack of energy the guy's giving. "Would you let me set you up with someone here at the park if I paid for the date?"

While filming for the BooSeokSoon Tiktok channel, Seungkwan meets the prettiest boy he's ever seen. Too bad he has to match him up with someone else.

Or so he thinks.

Notes:

this fic is inspired by this Tiktok of the same situation. i thought it would be so cute with a solboo twist

thank you Silver for the beta! <3

Work Text:

"Ready to be a matchmaker today, Kwannie?"

Seungkwan pauses halfway through fluffing his bangs to roll his eyes at Seokmin. If it were any other day, he would take the question in stride; after all, he loves what he does as a content creator, especially when it comes to spreading the love. But he's in a particularly off mood, one he can't seem to brush off even as they're about to film.

Soonyoung immediately catches on.

"That's not a good look," he says. "I figured things didn't go well with the guy from Jack'd?"

"Ugh," Seungkwan groans, shaking his head and messing up the bangs he just tried to fix. "It was the worst date ever. He gave me a rundown of his entire life and bragged about his fitness Instagram. I'm pretty sure he knows the kind of videos we make because he kept talking about how low-brow our content is. As if seeing you dunk your face in ice cold water at five in the morning is compelling content!"

"Ew," Seokmin replies with a nose scrunch. "You dodged a bullet there."

"It's a shame," Soonyoung adds. "He seemed really hot."

Seungkwan shakes his head. "I think the muscles were doing a majority of the work for his looks." He sighs. "I don't think this dating thing is meant for me. I'm only destined to be everyone's matchmaker, apparently."

What started out as a way for Seungkwan, Seokmin, and Soonyoung to post random skits during college has turned into a blossoming Tiktok channel with hundreds of thousands of followers, many of which include interviewing random people around the streets of Seoul. Their matchmaking videos are always some of the biggest in terms of views and engagement; people really do love love!

"Don't say that," Seokmin assures, patting the top of Seungkwan's head, careful not to mess up his hair too much. "You'll find your person one day, I just know it!"

Easy for you to say, Seungkwan wants to say. Seokmin already has Soonyoung, of course he'd be more optimistic about love and romance!

"Let's start filming," Seungkwan says. "I'd rather help someone find their person instead."

Armed with a tiny microphone and the audio-video team consisting of Seokmin and Soonyoung, Seungkwan starts walking down Yeouido Hangang Park, scanning the crowds of people all around him taking advantage of the beautiful and sunny Sunday morning. As outgoing and extroverted Seungkwan considers himself to be, it can be tough finding a lone person willing to not ony be filmed for a Tiktok account with a semi-large following, but also get matched with another stranger, even if he, Seokmin, and Soonyoung are willing to pay for the date. With responses ranging from being blatantly ignored to getting cussed out, Seungkwan has developed a sixth sense in finding the right person to interview.

Today is tougher than most. He's already propositioned four people, three who have politely declined being on video and one who's already in a relationship. Maybe everyone can sense his slight disdain for anything related to love and dating.

Seungkwan is about to convince Seokmin and Soonyoung to call it quits for the day and go get some food when his eyes lock in on a lone man sitting on the concrete steps. The closer he gets to the guy, the more that it's obvious that he's probably not someone willing to be filmed. The guy has headphones on and he's staring out into the water looking lost in thought, barely paying attention to the world around him.

And yet, why is Seungkwan not turning the other way? From just looks alone, the guy doesn't seem like the type to entertain random strangers. Plus, between the ripped jeans, beanie, and black band tee, the guy looks way too cool for everyone, much less the bubbly trio that's BooSeokSoon.

As if he sensed Seungkwan's presence the closer he gets, the guy immediately turns his head in their direction, and their gazes meet.

Goodness, this man is gorgeous.

With a jawline that can cut through stone and brows so perfect they look tattooed on him, Seungkwan wouldn't be surprised if he was a model of some sort. Or a secret K-pop idol. That would do wonders for their Tiktok account.

Seungkwan's heart pounds, especially as the guy looks at him up and down, probably noting the microphone in his hand. His stare is so intense, it feels like he's looking right into Seungkwan's soul.

The guy's gaze never leaves Seungkwan the closer they approach. It's almost disarming to the point where Seungkwan wonders if he's staring daggers at them, practically daring the three of them to approach him. But then, he lifts his headphones from his ears, letting them hang around his neck.

"Hi," Seungkwan greets as soon as he's within the guy's earshot.

"Hey." The guy's voice is curt, face remaining expressionless. Seungkwan cannot get any sort of reading on him which is frustrating because he thrives off matching a person's energy in a conversation. And this guy has no energy at all.

Seungkwan glances at Seokmin and Soonyoung who are of no help at all. In fact, they look smug for some reason.

"We're doing a little video for our Tiktok channel," Seungkwan says, already planning his exit out of this conversation. "Would you want to be a part of it?"

"Um…" The guy's brows furrow and he turns silent for a moment. Seungkwan wants to jump into the Han River out of pure embarrassment. "It depends, I guess?"

"Of course! Are you single, by any chance?"

As expected, it takes the guy a moment to respond, his face contorting in a way that Seungkwan did not expect it to. It's almost cute the way he goes from completely neutral to thoroughly confused.

It takes him so long to respond that Seungkwan almost assures the guy that he doesn't have to do this so they all can move on with their lives. But then, the guy does the thing where he looks down at Seungkwan's tiny microphone once again and— woah, his eyelashes look so pretty on him.

"Sure," he replies, getting up on his feet.

"Oh!" Seungkwan replies in complete and utter shock. It doesn't help that the guy has a couple of inches on him. "Awesome, great! Those are my friends filming, Seokmin and Soonyoung." He glances over at Soonyoung and Seokmin, waving at the guy and looking positively and uncharacteristically gleeful for a standard matchmaking video. "What's your name?"

"I'm Hansol."

"Ah, pretty name for a pretty boy." Definitely not what Seungkwan means to say, but he has to swallow his embarrassment and continue on for the sake of his dignity. "I'm Seungkwan. I'll definitely help find your match in no time, Hansol. Come on, let's walk around the park. Anyone you're eyeing, let me know and I'll help you bridge the gap." They start walking along the river, with Hansol next to Seungkwan and Seokin and Soonyoung following right behind. "Do you have a specific type? Girls? Guys? We don't discriminate here!"

In fact, their vidoes matching up queer people always do the best. But Hansol doesn't have to know that.

"No preference," Hansol replies. "I'm bi."

Seungkwan's heart races. This handsome man also likes men. Very interesting— for the video! Not for Seungkwan at all.

"Okay. So no preference for gender, do you have a type in terms of looks or personality?"

"Hmm… I dunno. I don't really have a type in general, I guess? I think I just wanna date someone who's cool and matches my energy."

"Don't worry, Hansol. I'm sure there's someone here that will match your energy and more."

"I hope so." He turns to Seungkwan. Now that they're walking side-by-side, Seungkwan gets the full force of Hansol's stare. Was it always this intense?

"So Hansol…" Seungkwan says, trying to ignore the warmth spreading on his cheeks. "Tell me more about yourself. What three things do you want your future date to know?"

"Hmm…" Hansol's brow furrows, looking so seriously deep in thought over a small question, it's almost endearing. "I'm a music producer, I love cats, and I'm a huge cinephile."

"Ahh," Seungkwan replies. "So you're a 'movie and dinner on the first date' kinda guy?"

"Not really, to be honest. I wanna get to know someone better before we watch movies together. Film is kinda sacred for me."

Seungkwan barely stops himself from melting to the ground. Between this and the small tidbit about loving cats, he's incredibly endeared by this sweet and handsome man. It's a shame he has to watch someone lucky get asked out by Hansol.

"That makes sense," Seungkwan replies. "You like movies and you want to make sure the other person likes them, too."

"Exactly." Hansol nods with a smile.

"Okay, how about this: what's your go-to movie for a second date?"

Seungkwan is aware that he should be more focused on finding a match for Hansol, but he can't help it. He wants to know more.

"Hmm…" Hansol stops walking, lips pursed and brows furrowed as he stares a hole into the ground. "I think a Studio Ghibli movie would be nice. Like Princess Mononoke. That's one of my favorite movies."

"You know what, I haven't seen that one yet. I've seen Ponyo and My Neighbor Totoro but that's it."

"You definitely should see it. It's intense but really amazing."

"Noted." Seungkwan shakes his head, looking around him. "Right! Your date! Do you have an eye on anyone?"

Hansol shoves his hands in his pockets, craning his neck to look at his surroundings. This is probably going to be easy for him. He's hot, he's sweet and awkward in an endearing way, and Seungkwan's already flagged down a couple of solo parkgoers on their walk down the river.

"Um…" Hansol replies. "So you said I could choose anyone here at the park?"

"Yup! Literally anyone here at the park who looks single and ready to mingle. And don't worry about the date, I'll pay for it."

Hansol looks around him once again. A beautiful woman in a sundress walks past them but he pays no mind to her nor the tall beefy guy sitting on a bench on his phone. Instead, he turns towards Seungkwan, his full attention on him.

"I mean you're here," Hansol says, rocking back and forth on his feet.

"Pardon?" Seungkwan tilts his head in confusion.

"Are you single? I would take you out on a date, no lie."

"Wait, what?" It takes a moment for Seungkwan to process the words that came out of Hansol's mouth. He freezes, feeling warmth flooding his ears and cheeks. He glances over at Seokmin and Soonyoung, their smiles wide and looking like they can barely contain themselves. "Me?"

"Yeah, if that's chill." Hansol chews on his lip and tugs on his earlobe. If Seungkwan wasn't so distracted by the fact that he's the one being asked out, he might note how nervous Hansol looks despite the cool guy persona he has going on.

"Seungkwan is super single by the way!" Soonyoung exclaims from behind the camera.

"And he also likes boys!" Seokmin adds.

"Really?" Seungkwan's heart is pounding so hard, it feels like it's about to burst out of his chest. "You're serious?"

"Yeah." Hansol gives Seungkwan a small, shy smile, the tips of his ears reddening. "You're super cute and I like our vibe."

Seungkwan can't help it, he covers his face with his hands, feeling the warmth against his palms. If someone told him approximately several minutes ago that a cute guy would ask him out through his own video, Seungkwan would have laughed in their face. And yet, here he is, standing in front of the prettiest boy in the park who is interested in him.

"I would love to go on a date with you," Seungkwan replies. "I just… did not expect this."

"Really?" Hansol breaks out into a huge gummy smile, wide enough that his eyes turn into crescent moons. So, so cute!

Suddenly, Soonyoung yanks the tiny microphone out of Seungkwan's hand. Usually, Seungkwan would kick his ass for getting in the way of his hosting, but Hansol keeps looking at him with that sweet look and he can barely contain himself.

"This is a BooSeokSoon first," Soonyoung says to the camera, assuming the position as the new impromptu host. Seungkwan steps to the side and towards Hansol. "It looks like our matchmaker has finally met his own match!"

For the first time in a while, Seungkwan is camera shy. Hansol has a couple of inches over him and the more Seungkwan stares at him, the more he realizes just how beautiful this man is. Hosting is the least of his worries, right now.

"Wanna go on the date right now?" Hansol asks. "I'm free if you are."

"Seungkwan is definitely free right now," Soonyoung replies. "Seokmin and I have our own date to go on."

Seungkwan nods. "What he said."

"Sweet. There's a restaurant by the water I've been wanting to go to for a while."

"Great. Lead the way."

The first date with Hansol goes so well that for a moment, Seungkwan wonders if this is all a fluke, or if there's a ball waiting to be dropped that shows Hansol's true character. Except what Seungkwan learns is that Hansol is genuine in how he moves through the world.

The restaurant Hansol takes them to is an Italian restaurant with amazing views of the Han River at sunset. He pulls out the seat for Seungkwan so they can sit next to each other on the table and he can wrap his arm along the back of the chair. When their pizza comes out with tomatoes left on top, Hansol immediately notices the way Seungkwan's face drops and takes all the tomatoes for himself. Despite what Seungkwan said during their interview earlier, Hansol ends up paying for the dinner, sneakily handing his card over to the waiter while Seungkwan was in the bathroom.

In the grand scheme of things, Seungkwan and Hansol seem like the complete opposite of each other: where Seungkwan is extroverted, Hansol is introverted. Where he likes K-pop, Hansol is more of a hyperpop and rock'n'roll type of guy. Seungkwan is a proud F, while Hansol really embodies his T energy. Despite this, they can still meet in the middle: they both like going to clubs—Seungkwan goes to dance and have fun, Hansol goes to get immersed in the music. Seungkwan loves rock ballads and Hansol loves producing for K-pop artists (a piece of information that Seungkwan is trying his hardest to feel normal about).

It's amazing. Hansol is amazing, thoughtful, and caring, never letting Seungkwan apologize for being too much on the first date.

"You're never too much," Hansol says as they walk down the river at nighttime, the city lights shimmering along the water. His arm is loose around Seungkwan, hand resting right at the base of his back. It's the most PDA they can do considering they're in public in Seoul, but Seungkwan doesn't mind. "I love it. Never apologize for it."

Sometimes Seungkwan wonders if it's too good to be true. That the metaphorical ball is going to drop anytime soon, and that Hansol reveals himself to be an asshole.

But that moment never comes.

On top of being the most endearing boy Seungkwan has ever met, Hansol is incredibly hot. He's still not quite convinced that Hansol isn't a model or a secret idol. The more the night goes on, the more Seungkwan wants his hands and lips on Hansol, attraction growing ten-fold by the hour.

"Hansollie," Seungkwan says in a pseudo-whiny voice. It's nearing the end of the date but with the way they've been slowly walking down the streets of Seoul, it seems as though neither of them wants to leave this moment. As the night went on, their touches become more frequent, their gazes more lingering and less innocent. "I'm almost at my apartment."

"Aww," Hansol replies with a pout on his face that Seungkwan wants to kiss off.

"You can walk me up to my door, if you want." Seungkwan's voice sounds innocent, but he bites his lip and flutters his eyelashes: a move even Hansol isn't immune to.

"Yeah," Hansol replies, his gaze never seeming to leave Seungkwan's mouth.

Of course, Hansol doesn't just walk Seungkwan up to his door. With a cheeky smirk and a quick tilt of the head, Seungkwan asks Hansol if he wants to join him inside and the eagerness in which Hansol nods makes Seungkwan's hands twitch in anticipation.

As soon as the door shuts behind them, Seungkwan grabs the lapels of Hansol's jacket, pulling him into a searing kiss, drinking up the deep moan that erupts from his throat. Hansol immediately opens his mouth and deepens the kiss, hands firmly planted on Seungkwan's hips.

It's too much. It's not enough. Seungkwan can smell his cologne and taste the sweet tanghulu dessert from earlier on his tongue and he's greedy for more.

Seungkwan guides them towards the couch, pushing Hansol onto it and climbing into his lap. Their lips never break apart until the moment they have to strip off their shirts.

"Holy fuck," Seungkwan mutters, hands roaming around Hansol's newly exposed bare chest. "You're so fucking hot."

"You too." Hansol squeezes Seungkwan's ass, pulling their hips closer to each other, grinding shamelessly against their quickly tightening pants. He presses kisses down Seungkwan's neck, mouthing at his pulse point and making him moan. "I couldn't keep my eyes off you when I first saw you. Nobody in that park had a chance."

"Oh my god." Seungkwan pulls Hansol back so they can continue kissing, movement more desperate and feverish. "You're crazy. Please fuck me."

They continue making out for a while, content to drink each other up before Seungkwan plans to unbuckle Hansol's jeans, but then his phone vibration goes off several times in a row, enough that Seungkwan can't ignore it.

"Goddamn it," Seungkwan mutters, pulling away from Hansol's mouth with a resounding pop. He grabs his phone to turn it off, only to find a series of messages from Seokmin and Soonyoung.

"Good." Hansol squeezes Seungkwan's hips. "Now everyone will know I'm yours."

"Oh my god, Hansol!" Seungkwan buries his face in Hansol's neck. "You don't have to charm me any more. I'm already about to drag you to bed."

"Yeah?" Hansol cards his fingers through Seungkwan's hair. "I wouldn't mind that at all."

"Good, I wouldn't mind, either."

Seungkwan moves out of Hansol's lap, pulling him up on his feet. Grabbing the belt loops of Hansol's jeans, Seungkwan kisses him and tugs them back towards his room with a smirk on his face.
