"Och Doctor! That food machine is broken again." Jamie bashed it with his fist. The machine made a groaning noise and then shut down in protest.
"You might find that it works better if you don't keep bashing it, Jamie!" Zoe piped up. "This isn't the way to get us breakfast."
"Don't bother me now, you two! Can't you see I'm busy?" The Doctor flapped his handkerchief at some smoke rising from the console. "Why don't you go to the TARDIS kitchen and see what you can find there?"
"I didnae know you had a proper kitchen," said Jamie. "All this time I've been eating the bars this thing comes out with." He gave the machine a prod with his foot.
"Well now you do, Jamie. Go down the corridor there and follow your noses. I'm going to be rather busy here. I really shouldn't have tried to bypass the fluid links." The Doctor blew on the smoking part of the console.
"Come on, Jamie. I'm sure we'll find something edible in the kitchen," Zoe said as she grabbed Jamie's hand and steered him into the TARDIS corridor.
The kitchen took a little finding, but they came across it after opening half a dozen doors to rooms that they'd never come across before. Who knew that the TARDIS had a cricket changing room? Once they entered the kitchen, Jamie began rummaging through the cupboards.
"There's some bowls here," he said. "This one's got a load of packets in it."
Zoe opened the cupboard with food boxes in it. "It looks like cereal will be the easiest option. Which do you prefer, Jamie? Space Krispies or Timeloops?"
"I'll try the timeloops." he said.
Zoe poured the cereal into two different bowls and added milk. "Do you think the Doctor will want any?"
"No. That one rarely eats. I swear he lives on photosynthesis."
"Gosh Jamie, look at you, using scientific terms!"
"Well maybe I've picked up a thing or two spending so much time with you, eh?"
Zoe smiled. They ate their timeloops in contented silence.
