Chapter Text
Despite the pain rippling through your stomach a small amused smile was working its way onto your face. This happened pretty regularly and yet, every month, Hongjoong was stressed, shocked and angry with himself.
You huffed slightly, “Joongie,” You waved at him through the screen.
He turns toward his phone screen, his pacing stilling for a long second, he sits back in his studio chair and gets close to the camera, trying to see as much of you as possible.
“What’s wrong? Are you feeling faint? Have you eaten yet? I’m going to order some soup to the apartment, and more pads. Do you have a heating pad?” He turns to his computer screen, quickly closing his production program to get on a delivery app.
“Hongjoong,” You snort, he was extra cute when he was worrying, “I’m okay, the cramps just hurt.”
He glances back at the phone, still propped on his desk where he could see you, “Then you need pain meds! Which one was it again? The little pink ones or the orange ones or the white ones?” His focus is back on his computer screen.
You pressed your heating pad further against your stomach and watched him with a fond look on your face. You couldn’t be upset with your cute squirrel boyfriend even if you tried.
“I’ll get them all!” Hongjoong decides, adding five different pain meds to his online cart, “And the soup too, I know you hate having to think about food on the first day.”
“You’re sweet Joongie, but I have lots of pills from two months ago.”
Hongjoong pauses, “What? Are you sure you have enough?”
You nod, “I promise, you bought the big bottles of everything and it’ll probably last me a year, babe.”
“I just don’t want you to run out. And I feel bad I forgot about this again,” He crosses his arms, looking rather upset with himself.
“Joongie, all I want is some cuddles and maybe a back massage,” You say softly, smiling into the phone, “and stop acting like you betrayed me or something, It's fine.”
“Never,” Hongjoong shakes his head, turning back to the screen, “I took the meds off, but I’m leaving the food, do you need anything else?”
You pause and request a few sweets along with the soup which your boyfriend quickly adds to his cart before standing.
“Okay, I’ll be there in 30 minutes, sit tight okay?” He asks, picking up his phone.
“You don’t have to leave work for me Hongjoong, I know you have a lot to do this week,” You say softly, despite wanting him with you more than anything else.
“Nope, I’m coming, I’ll bring a laptop to work while you nap!” He says cheerfully, and you chuckle, knowing he was going to force you to nap and would get bored while you slept.
You concede and he grins, waving goodbye before hanging up the face time.
It takes him only 25 minutes to get to your apartment, letting himself in with his key, soup and sweets in hand.
“Babe?” He calls softly, feet padding quietly through your apartment. He frowns when he sees you curled up around your heating pad, looking tired more than anything.
“Hey,” He crouches by the bed and gently swipes a hair from your forehead, “Are the pain pills helping at all?”
You nod, “Starting to work, a few minutes ago.”
“I’m glad to hear that,” Hongjoong presses a quick kiss to your forehead and stands, disappearing for a few minutes.
“Here, I warmed up some of the soup,” He's holding a bowl and spoon in hand, moving back across the room with careful steps, eyes on the liquid in the bowl.
He winces at your groan as you sit up and lean against the headboard.
“You sure you’re okay?” He leans closer, examining your face.
You shrug and carefully take the bowl from him before he can forget he’s holding it and spill it. He watches intently as you eat and then starts talking, about something that happened at work, quickly switching mid sentence to something about Jongho back at his own apartment.
You hand him the empty bowl once you finish the soup, and he blinks for a second, coming back to the present. He grins and slips back out of the room to wash the dish.
You’re already laying back down again when he comes in, and slips onto the bed with you. He begins fussing over the blankets, the heating pad, whether you feel comfortable or not. You assure him that you’re okay and scoot closer to him, sighing happily when his arms find their way around you, holding you close.
“Get some rest, babe, I’ll be here when you wake up,” He says softly, rubbing your arm softly.
It doesn't take long until you are fast asleep in his embrace - full, warm and safe.
