Work Text:

Green- or who everyone alive thought was Green- calmly walked away from a dying White. Somehow, even after getting their throat split, White refused to die without all eyes on them one last time. Green, the real Green, who was a ghost now cursed to watch this twisted version of him kill all their coworkers, floated over to White’s lifeless corpse. Assuming that it would be like Orange and them ascending from their bodies, they waited for White’s ghost to join them.

It didn’t take long, of course, but by the time White did ascend, Green was hyperventilating. They’d been doing such for a while, but they weren’t going to hide it now. White floated next to them, sitting on the bloodied floor.

“Hey Green.”

”…Hi White.”

”You doing alright?”

This was awkward. They clearly weren’t doing alright, what were they thinking? They just detached a version of themselves kill someone, for God’s sake!

”No, not really.”

They actually thought of a helpful response this time, ”Would you— like to talk about it?”

”I just don’t want to think right now.”

Green buried their head in their lap, hugging their knees tight. White responded the only way they knew how to, “I know a good way to empty out your mind.”

Okay, maybe it isn’t the best idea, but it’s all they could come up with. If drinking wine made their mind feel all mushy and relaxed, they were sure it would work on Green too.

“You do…?”

”Yeah! Hold on, I’ve seen ghosts do this on movies all the time!”

They focused their mind, a small ball of light fluttering in front of them. And, just like that, a bottle of wine. White reached out and grabbed it, which they didn’t expect they could do.

White took a swig of the wine, savouring the rich flavour straight from the bottle. White offered the bottle to them, the other clearly being confused on if they should be drinking out of the same bottle. They chose not to question it, being the people-pleaser they are, and gingerly sipped the wine. They both passed the bottle a few times, Green getting bolder with how much they drank each time. The two went through a few bottles.

White, clearly buzzed, leaned over onto Green’s shoulder, Green blushing profusely in the process. They looked up at the other, who was now burying their face in their palms. They took their hand up to their chin, turning Green to face them. This did not help with the blushing. White chuckled, “You’re… cute when you do that.”

Green turned away, attempting to not combust on the spot from White’s actions. When they didn’t respond, White continued, “Y’know, I really like you. When we first came onto the Skeld, you were so tense and nervous. It was super cute.”

Green sunk harder into themselves, but White kept pushing, “Seeing you now, like this, mind-numbed, just— I can’t believe you trusted me so much.”

”W- was I not supposed to?”

”I mean, you leaned into my touch and trusted me when you were at a vulnerable state, and I think it’s nice that you can trust me, even if I am arrogant sometimes.”

”and stuck-up, and cocky, and selfish…”

”Okay, I get it. But, it was nice not to be selfish for once.”

The two just stared at one another. White’s hand was still on Green’s chin. They took this as a cue that their hand was right where it wanted to be. Green leaned forward, kissing the other softly. They remained like that for a moment, savouring the taste of wine and each other now lining their lips.

They parted after a minute, glossy eyes staring at each other. White blinked a few times before diving back in again, this kiss being more hungry. Green leaned into it, kissing with the same passion and lust.

The two only separated for air now, the wine having fully taken effect on the two. They separated once more, Green’s eyes half-lidded from the alcohol. Their low tolerance meant they were now tired and probably overwhelmed.

“Will… we remember any of this?”

”Im not sure how different ghost brains are from human brains, or how different ghost wine is from… wine wine, but just know that I love you, regardless of if you remember me saying it.”

Green smiled back at them, moving to curl themselves into White’s arms. For once, their public image didn’t matter, because the only image the public would see is their remains.
