sorry about the lack of fic posts/updates, I had a big test for my vocational school, I was ending the school year, I started a summer chemistry course for college that is supposed to be 15 weeks, but I'm doing the accelerated course that's 5 weeks (it's like week 3), oh and on the 18th, I graduated high school, and I've also been attending awards ceremonies/other graduation things, grad parties, planning/getting ready for/doing my own grad party, and job training!

Hopefully things will be slowing down soon and I can get back to writing!

(this series was supposed to start the 8th of June, but I've been far to busy/did not have a proper idea/story for this prompt/ship until recently (see, slowly working on it when I have a chance))

anyways, enough rambles, enjoy! :3

Work Text:

The warm sand feels funny as Jimmy steps on it, his and Scott’s flipflops stored in Scott’s bag on his back, the two of them walking hand in hand, down the beach, enjoying the warm sand and the cool waves lapping at their toes.

The day’s light is waning as the sun dips lower over the horizon, the night coming close, a storm on the horizon.

The two husbands enjoy their walk down the beach, just enjoying the scenery, and each other’s presence.

As they walk, their joined hands sway with their steps.

After a bit, Scott brings their hand up, and Jimmy stops, turning slightly to face his husband.

The cyanet brings their joined hands to his lips, pressing a kiss to them, “Petal,” he speaks softly, “The day’s almost gone, and I can smell rain’s petrichor.” he says, "how about we head home?”

“I’m fine with that.” Jimmy says, leaning forward and pressing a kiss to his husband’s forehead, “Let’s go then.”

Scott smiles and the two of them turn around, making their way back to their car.

When they get there, they dust the sand off their feet, climbing into the car.

Scott climbs into the driver's seat, putting his bag in the back, and he pulls out of the parking spot.

Jimmy connects his phone, putting on a playlist he feels fits the slow day they have been having, “Days seem sometimes as if they'll never end, sun digs its heels to taunt you.

It starts to sprinkle, the rain lazily falling as they head home.

Jimmy looks out the car window as his husband drives, watching the rain drops combine and fall down the glass.

After about 20 minutes, Scott pulls into their driveway.

Jimmy reaches into the backseat and pulls out Scott’s bag which he then hands to the cyanet, who puts it on his back.

“Ready?” Scott asks his husband, smiling.

“Ready.” His husband replies, grinning.

The two of them jump out of the car on their respective sides, slamming the doors shut, sprinting towards their home, the rain pouring down on them, their still bare feet pounding against the pavement and concrete as they run up to their patio.

Once they are both there, they laugh, hard and full of fun.

Scott pulls up the house key, holding it up to the door knob, unlocking the door.

Jimmy gently grabs his face, curling his fingers under Scott’s chin, “you look so nice right now.” Jimmy says, his cheeks a deep red.

Scott’s cheeks warm as he stares up at his husband, his yellow-blond hair, wet, some of it plastered to his forehead, cheeks red.

Jimmy leans down, pressing a soft kiss to Scott’s lips.

After their sweet moment, Scott opens the door and they go inside.

Scott’s bag is placed by the door and the blue haired man goes to the bathroom to quickly wash his feet off in the shower, getting the sand off.

When he comes back, he sees Jimmy standing by a chair where Flick is purring, rubbing his head up against Jimmy’s hand.

The moment’s sweet and it makes Scott’s heart melt.

Jimmy sees him and walks over to him, pressing a quick kiss to his forehead before walking past him to go wash the sand off his feet.

Scott heads to their kitchen, pulling out the ingredients and equipment that is needed for their next activity.

The blue haired man gets lost in what he’s going, putting his phone going, the same playlist Jimmy had going in the car, going for the same vibe they had in the car.

He gnarly jumps when hands wrap around his middle, “Hey there beautiful.” Jimmy mummers into his hair, burying his face into it.

“Do you still want to bake cookies?” Scott asks him.

Jimmy nods into his hair, letting him go, helping him grab things.

After everything’s been grabbed, the two of them work together, mixing the cookie dough, placing it onto the baking tray, and putting it into the oven.

Jimmy does the dishes as Scott puts more dough on a 2nd tray, taking the cooked cookies out of the oven, placing them on a cooling rack.

Once the dishes are done, Jimmy dries off his hands, grabbing a chair from the little table they keep in their kitchen for meals where it’s just them, sitting down.

Flick’s little paws patter through the kitchen as he walks up to his human, jumping up in Jimmy’s lap.

The little cat starts to purr, pushing his little head into Jimmy’s hand as the human scratches behind his ear.

Scott feels a little face benign pushed into his leg, and he looks down from where he’s leaning against the sink, waiting for the cookies in the oven to bake.

Normal purrs as he rubs his face against Scott’s leg.

He remembers when he and Jimmy were first dating, back then it was only Norman, the cat was wary of Scott at first, but came to love him.

Shortly after Jimmy and Scott got married, and Jimmy moved into Scott’s house, Flick came along.

Jimmy had come home from work, holding a small kitten, and Scott’s heart had melted at the sight of his husband, soaked from the rain that had been pouring down that day, having been outside when he rescued Flick, the poor kitten having almost gotten hit a few times when Jimmy was on his way home from work.

Their family feels complete with the two cats and Scott would not trade it for anything.

The oven makes a noise as the timer goes off and Scott pulls out the hot tray of cookies, taking them and putting them on the cooling rack, turning off the oven.

Scott grabs a cookie off the cooling rack, one for him, and one for Jimmy.

He hands his husband his cookie.

Flick attempts to eat it, but Jimmy holds it away, eating it and not letting the cat get the cookie, making Scott laugh.

“I guess it's their dinner time then.” Scott chuckles, heading over to where they keep the dry cat food, dishing out two bowls of it, placing them on the floor where two kitties, one bigger and older, one smaller and younger, both run to, purring happily as they eat side by side.

Jimmy stands up, “I think I’m going to take a shower before bed.”

Scott nods, “Okay, I think I’m going to read a bit before bed then.” Scott says, leaning up and pressing a quick kiss to his husband’s cheek.

Jimmy goes, going to get ready or his shower well Scott puts the left over stuff from their baking, putting the cookies away for the most part, putting the last rack of cooling ones in the microwave, knowing if he does not, two little trouble makers can, and will knock over the whole rack, and or eat everything off it, making them both sick, and giving Jimmy, Scott, and both of them, a very bad experience.

Once the cookies are secured and out of the reach of the cats, Scott goes to their bedroom, getting dressed for bed (a pair set of pajamas Jimmy got him for Christmas this year), grabbing the book he’s been reading recently (a fantasy book with a romance between the main characters, set in the world of the fae). He sits down on his side of the bed, curling his legs up next to him, sitting against the headrest, his pillow to his back.

As he sits there, reading, the cat seems to finish up their food as Flick some tromping into the room, going up to a cat tower they have in the room, jumping up and curling up on top of it.

Norman does not follow, he will be outside the bathroom door, waiting for Jimmy, his little Deputy Norman as Scott and Jimmy call him, sitting by the bathroom door, sticking his little paw under the door, especially when Jimmy steps out, trying to swipe at his feet.

Scott continues reading his book and after about 20 minutes, his husband walks into their room, his hair a mess from the towel he used to mostly dry it.

The blond is dressed in a pair of soft pajama bottoms, printed with little cartoon cat faces, and an old band tee draped over his broad shoulders, one of his favorite shirts to just be lazy around the house after a long day, usually cuddled up at Scott’s side as they watch a movie.

The blond walks over to their bed, flopping down on it, crawling over to Scott, laying down, resting the back of his head on the cyanet’s right thigh, staring up at him, a cat having jumped up onto the bed after him, curling up on Jimmy’s pillow.

Scott slips a hand into his hair, mindlessly playing with it as he reads.

Jimmy closes his eyes, enjoying the feeling.

After a bit, Scott’s done with the chapter he was on and he closes the book.

Jimmy cracks an eye open, the hand in his hair having stilled as Scott places the book on his night stand.

“Hey, are you ready to go to sleep?” Scott asks Jimmy, gently brushing some fingers along his jaw.

Jimmy smiles, nodding into Scott’s gentle touch. The blond pushes himself up, shooing Norman off his pillow, who runs off to the cat tower, curling up in a little hidey hole for the night (till he tries to sit on Jimmy’s face in the morning). Jimmy slips under the covers, laying on back.

Scott turns off the lap, plunging the room into darkness. He then pulls back the cover, slipping under and laying down next to Jimmy, snuggling up against his husband, resting his right cheek on his chest.

The two of them lay there, the sound of the rain outside their little home, a soothing sound, their breaths added to it as they even out, their hearts seemingly in sync as they sleep.
