There was something wrong. Jungkook knew that much. It had started a few months ago. He started to grow more tired than usual, his appetite decreased and his inner omega had started to quieten down.
The instincts to nest had stopped completely a week ago and he felt restless all the time, like there was something he needed deeply and everything he was doing was just wrong. Jungkook, though, had no idea what it was.
He let out a deep breath as he wiped over the steamed up mirror after his shower he just had, hoping to wash away the itch but it was without effect. Then, he paused, eyes widening at what he saw on his neck.
His scent gland was bright flaming red with a large bump in its place.
Bringing his hand up to the inflamed gland he gasped at the sensitivity that shot through him, making him stumble back, hitting the glass of the shower panel.
“Jungkook, are you alright in there?” Came his roommate Namjoon’s worried voice.
Jungkook stumbled to unlock the bathroom door, meeting the alpha’s concerned expression. Immediately, Namjoon’s gaze zeroed in on him and any other day Jungkook would have been embarrassed at being practically bare, if not for the towel around his waist, in front of the other but he was too frightened to be conscious of it this time.
“Your— Your scent gland! Shit, you should get it checked out,” Namjoon stuttered for words as he looked intently at the gland, his normally calming scent turning worry filled.
“I’ll try to make an appointment soon…” Jungkook sighed, nervous at the thought of going to see a doctor. What if something was really wrong with him?
The alpha placed his hand on Jungkook’s shoulder comfortingly and reassured him, “It’ll be okay, Jungkookie. You have been experiencing some symptoms for a while now so it’s better to get it checked out. Just to know, don’t you think?”
“Of course… I’m just— I’m afraid something might be really wrong and I don’t have anyone around if that’s the case,” Jungkook let out quietly, avoiding eye contact as he fiddled with his towel.
With a squeeze on the omega’s shoulder, Namjoon responded with a raised brow. “I’m right here, aren’t I? For whatever you need. We’ve lived together for a year now, I'd like to think we’ve grown close enough to be considered friends.”
Jungkook’s chest warmed from his roommate’s words. “I consider you my friend too. Thank you for being here and caring for me.”
If he was to be more honest, what he considered the alpha to be to him blurred a bit when he discovered Namjoon’s scent for the first time a few months after he moved in and how relaxed it made him feel whenever the alpha wasn’t wearing any blockers. Paired along with how kind-hearted and charming the older was, ‘friend’ seemed a bit lackluster to what he actually thought of him as.
The alpha he secretly crushed on was more accurate, possibly.
Namjoon stepped back, giving him one last reassuring look. “Make that appointment, Jungkookie. I’ll be here.”
“The omega nodded, “I will. Thank you, hyung.”

Jungkook’s appointment was a few days later and he knew he had failed to contain his nerves.
His legs bounced up and down as he sat in the chair beside the doctor’s desk, picking at his nails as he awaited the results of the numerous tests that had been done on him.
The doctor looked at the computer screen in front of him as he explained, “From the symptoms you described to me, it’s very apparent that your inner omega is feeling neglected, which is why you can’t feel them as much any more and your natural omegan instincts have depleted.”
“What does that mean exactly? What’s causing that?” Jungkook asked worriedly.
The doctor scrolled through the results on the screen before swiveling in their chair, facing the omega. “When was the last time you were scented by another?”
Jungkook’s stomach sank as he thought about the doctor’s question. The last time he had truly been scented by another was probably by his ex boyfriend around three, almost four years ago. He hadn’t been close enough with someone to do something as intimate as scenting since.
“Over three years ago,” He truthfully answered.
The doctor nodded in understanding and suggested, “I think, based on what you have told me and the visible effects to your scent gland, it would be in your best interest to be regularly scented by another. Preferably someone your inner omega trusts.”
Namjoon’s face popped into his head at the suggestion of someone he trusted.
The omega nodded slowly. “… I see. How long would I need to be regularly scented for?”
“That I don’t have a definitive answer for. We’ll know when your natural omega instincts show themselves again. Although, for permanent effectiveness, it is recommended to scent with another at least once every few weeks, normally. It keeps your omega balanced,” the doctor informed him.
Jungkook took the information in, wondering how long he had unknowingly neglected his inner omega. “Thank you, Doctor. I will keep this in mind.”

What the doctor had told him was all he could think about as he returned home. He was slow in his steps as he walked through the front door, dreading having to have that awkward conversation about scenting with his roommate and telling him how it was his own fault all along for being essentially friendless and partnerless.
“Jungkook! How did it go? What did the doctor say?” Namjoon sprung up from the sofa as soon as he saw the omega coming in.
The alpha followed closely behind him as he sat on the sofa, taking a seat next to Jungkook as he waited for the news.
“The doctor said that my inner omega has been neglected and it has led to my scent gland becoming inflamed amongst other things,” Jungkook told him.
Namjoon’s eyes widened. “Neglected? How can that be helped? Have you been prescribed medication or something?”
The chuckle that left Jungkook was unstoppable before he answered. “No medication as such. It’s my own fault really. I was told to regularly scent with someone my omega trusts until my natural instincts come back and continue to do so in future.”
At the answer, Namjoon frowned and asked, “You don’t scent with anyone?”
“It’s quite embarrassing to admit but I don’t really have any friends so… no scenting for me,” the omega confessed, ashamed.
It was quite normal to scent with friends or family if you didn’t have a partner but Jungkook had no such someone nearby. Well, except for…
Jungkook took a breath and continued. “Which is why I wanted to ask, if you’re comfortable of course, if you would be willing to be that trusted person to scent me regularly.”
He expected some follow up questions, maybe a request for a moment to think it through before giving an answer but his roommate didn’t do any of those things.
Namjoon set his hand on Jungkook’s and squeezed comfortingly. “Of course I will. You let me know when and I’ll do it. I’m here when you need me”
“Would it be okay if you could scent me later? I just feel so… gross right now and to be honest I feel like shit so I’ll shower first. Only if you don’t have plans, of course?” Jungkook asked hesitantly.
The understanding look the alpha gave him perked something inside his inner omega. “You are anything but gross, Jungkook but of course I can do that for you.”
Jungkook gulped at the gentle fluttery feeling in his belly and patted Namjoon’s hand that was still resting on his own before getting up. “Thank you so much, you don’t have to do this but I’m so grateful.”
“Anything I can do for you, I will,” Namjoon responded, sounding so truthful.
Jungkook ignored the thoughts the response laid in his head. Namjoon was just being the nice, caring alpha he has always been, he didn’t mean it like Jungkook’s omega thought he did. He certainly didn’t mean it like Jungkook’s silly fragile romantic heart hoped for.
*ੈ✩‧₊˚
The omega made sure to take extra care in the shower, washing off all the scents from his travel to the hospital, leaving a blank canvas for Namjoon to cover with his own scent shortly.
His heartbeat quickened and he shook his head at himself. Namjoon is just helping. Nothing more. Don’t be silly, Jungkook.
When Jungkook entered the living space, Namjoon was waiting on the sofa, reading a book with his chunky framed glasses on. The alpha looked so soft it had Jungkook’s omega perking up in interest again.
“Are you ready?” Jungkook whispered, almost feeling bad for disturbing the other from the book he looked engrossed in.
The book was set aside before he could blink. “Of course. Ready when you are.”
Jungkook’s health couldn’t be more ready. He was tired of feeling awful and his roommate might be just the answer to that.
The omega settled beside the alpha on the sofa before asking, “What would be the best way to do this?”
“I think it would be best if you turn yourself towards me and for me to lean over you. Would that be okay?” Namjoon responded.
With a nod, Jungkook turned himself towards the alpha, crossing his legs on the sofa. “Like this?”
Namjoon nodded, leaning closer, his voice a low mutter as he confirmed. “Like that.”
With his roommate so close to him, Jungkook could feel the body heat radiating off the other and could see the delicate mole much like his own under his lip. He gulped, meeting Namjoon’s eyes then gulped again.
This close, Jungkook could pick up on the comforting sandalwood scent that soon would be coating his own scent gland.
“Ready?” Namjoon asked for permission before proceeding.
The omega gave a little nod and whispered softly. “Ready.”
The alpha glanced at Jungkook once more before leaning closer until Jungkook set a hand beside himself to stop himself from leaning backward instinctively. When Namjoon was a mere few inches from him, he leaned closer into Jungkook’s neck and the omega’s eyes fluttered closed.
Goosebumps rose on his skin as the alpha’s nose brushed along Jungkook’s neck carefully before Namjoon settled above the bump that was a very reddened, irritated scent gland.
“I’ll scent you now,” Namjoon muttered, his lips brushing Jungkook’s neck as he spoke.
Jungkook nodded timidly, trying to keep himself calm whilst internally feeling too many fluttery sensations to name.
He couldn’t contain the quiet gasp that left his mouth when Namjoon nosed at his scent gland slowly. Jungkook would have fallen backward if not for the hand that shot to hold him upright, resting on his back.
“Jasmine?” Namjoon questioned in a low voice, not waiting for a response before ghosting his lips over the gland.
Jungkook was shocked that he had been able to pick up on his terribly muted jasmine scent just from a few seconds of scenting but didn’t have a chance to react because soft lips pressed gently onto his scent gland.
It was like his whole body relaxed. He hadn’t realised he had been so tense before he was hopelessly falling against Namjoon, leaning closer for more.
The alpha’s lips pressed against the bump of the gland a few times and then he pulled away slightly, leaning back in to inhale deeply.
Something like a low rumble sounded from his roommate's chest but he was already pulling away before the omega had a chance to respond.
“Was that okay?” Namjoon whispered breathlessly.
Looking back up at him, Jungkook nodded, suddenly feeling his eyelids droop as tiredness overtook him. “That was… good. Thank you.”
“Let’s get you to bed, hm?” Namjoon spoke so softly as he pulled the omega up into his arms, lifting him with ease and carrying him to Jungkook’s bedroom.
Any other time, Jungkook would probably be shocked that he was being carried in Namjoon’s arms but he was far too sleepy to acknowledge anything other than the peaceful feelings that had overtaken him.
His eyes were barely open when Namjoon set him down in his nest carefully and fell asleep in seconds of his body meeting the soft fabrics.
*ੈ✩‧₊˚
When Jungkook woke up the next morning and realised he was laying in his pitiful nest, his body flushed all over.
Namjoon had placed him here, and seen his nest.
However could he face the alpha now? Not only had the scenting lulled him to sleep but Namjoon had seen his lack of essential omega instincts, how very unomega-like he was.
Jungkook was so embarrassed.
The omega was so quiet as he opened his bedroom door, peaking outside to ensure Namjoon was elsewhere as he made his way to the kitchen. He couldn’t face Namjoon first thing this morning, he wasn’t ready to face his embarrassment.
Maybe asking Namjoon was the worst idea Jungkook could have gone with. For now Namjoon knew how incapable of an omega he was compared to the perfection that Namjoon was.
Jungkook needed to get out of the house, at least for today, to… gather himself before proceeding.
Jungkookie
Hyung, I’m feeling better now so would it be possible to pick up a shift today?
Jin Hyung
Are you sure? If you need more time away it’s okay. Your health is the most important thing.
Jungkookie
I’m sure. You don’t need to worry about me. I’m okay, I promise.
It’s not like it was a complete lie. Jungkook really was feeling better despite his embarrassment. Namjoon’s scenting really had a big impact on him.
Jin Hyung
If you’re sure, I could use some help in an hour during the rush.
Jungkookie
I’ll be there. 🙂
Engrossed in texting with his boss, Jungkook startled, almost dropping his phone when he heard a door closing.
“Good morning, did you sleep well?” Namjoon asked, unaware of the awkwardness the omega was feeling.
Jungkook cleared his throat and nodded. “Yes, thanks. Did you?”
“I slept perfectly fine,” the alpha answered, moving his hands behind his back before moving closer to the omega and holding out neatly folded jumpers. “I thought, to help with your condition, maybe having some of my scented clothes might be able to help you.”
The sandalwood scent oozing off of the fabric was unmissable, strong enough that even Jungkook could pick up on it in his state.
Jungkook took a deep breath to settle himself. His legs beneath him suddenly felt wobbly from the strength of Namjoon before he hesitantly stepped closer and accepted the jumpers. “That’s very thoughtful of you. Thank you, hyung.”
Namjoon cleared his throat and moved past him, muttering. “Of course. No problem at all.”
Jungkook glanced down at the jumpers so kindly offered to him and tried his hardest to conceal the smile that wanted to pop out. Instead, he set them to the side in his room, unsure if he would even have the courage to make use of them.
The alpha had already done so much for him. Surely it would be too much to get even more attached to his scent.

It wasn’t easy to get into the flow of working again after a few weeks of being off sick. Jungkook tried to ignore it as best he could but it proved difficult when just the presence of an alpha made his scent gland itch.
He tried to ground himself by taking in more of the strong coffee smell around him as he scrambled to prepare drinks as the rush flooded in.
With his next order of drinks prepared, he moved them to the collection station as if on autopilot. He called the order but was not prepared for an alpha smelling as if he were on the edge of a rut to come over and brush his fingers across Jungkook’s as he handed them over.
Surely it wasn’t on purpose but it was enough to affect the omega, leaving him feeling uneasy.
His scent gland burned uncontrollably, heat rushed through his body as if he were painfully burned, unlike anything he had ever felt before.
Jungkook grabbed a hold of the counter to stop his legs from giving up below him. Immediately, Seokjin’s attention was on him.
“Jungkook, are you okay? Come— Sit down, you don’t look well.” He tried to usher Jungkook to sit down.
Jungkook shook him off. “I’m fine. I just need to get used to working after my break. I’ll be okay in a minute.”
Seokjin didn’t look too convinced but Jungkook didn’t let that deter him, only fueling him to keep going and work harder.
Not giving Seokjin an option to protest, Jungkook went back into the flow of making the drinks, careful to avoid inhaling any strong scents or accidental skin contact.
His scent gland on his neck continued to burn but he only ignored it as he had trained himself to do. He couldn't ignore the pain for long.
It happened far too quickly to comprehend. One moment he was pouring hot steaming milk into a latte, the next it had slipped from his hand, clattering all over the counter and a horrible sick feeling was overtaking the omega.
In the next moment, he was toppling over to the floor, his vision blurred and eyes struggling to stay open. It felt as though everything hurt and nothing would ever make it better.
He couldn’t process what was going on around him. It felt distant, as if Jungkook were out of his own body as he watched Seokjin’s panicked face as he cleared the space and attempted to pull the omega up.
Even with Seokjin’s careful touch, searing pain spread through his body.
“Ambulance— I should call an ambulance,” Seokjin pulled his phone out of his pocket about to dial but Jungkook suddenly became aware and afraid.
With a shaking hand, Jungkook pulled Seokjin’s hand away from his phone and shook his head. “No…. No ambulance. Please, Jin. I don’t know what they’ll do next. They might even send me away. I don’t want it. Please,” Jungkook begged weakly.
Seokjin looked conflicted before reluctantly asking, “Who should I call instead?”
There was only one person Jungkook could think of.
The omega handed over his phone and muttered out. “Namjoon. Please call Namjoon.”
Seokjin nodded quickly and scrolled through Jungkook’s contacts, immediately hitting dial when he found Namjoon’s name.
Only then did Jungkook’s eyes flutter closed.
When he opened his eyes again, Namjoon was in front of him, pulling Jungkook into his arms and lifting him.
“What happened? Jungkook? Can you hear me?” Namjoon asked, looking panicked.
Everything around Jungkook was blurry, except for Namjoon. The omega tried to look around but it only made him feel worse, as if he were too sick to look at anything else other than the alpha holding him.
“Don’t feel good… Alpha.” Any other time he would be mortified by so forwardly calling Namjoon alpha but in his state he had no conscience.
Jungkook couldn’t process what was being said between Namjoon and Seokjin. All he knew was they were heading away from the coffee shop.
The omega hoped it was home.
He buried his face in Namjoon’s neck as he walked, finding comfort. It was like medicine for the pain in his own gland. It burned less, itched less just from being near the alpha’s.
Jungkook only realised where he was again once placed down on the soft sheets of his bed.
Namjoon knelt by the side of his bed. “How are you feeling?”
“A bit better. I thought I was going to die. I couldn’t bear it any longer,” Jungkook let out brokenly, his voice weak.
Namjoon sighed, his brows furrowed as if he was deep in thought before he responded. “Why did you go to work? You’re supposed to be resting.”
Jungkook closed his eyes, embarrassed that he couldn’t even do the simplest of things. He hadn’t even been gone long, a few hours at most, and his body let him down once again.
“I thought I could manage. I’m sorry for troubling you,” Jungkook apologised, ashamed.
The alpha shook his head quickly. “You never trouble me. You need to stop apologising to me. It’s really okay. I’m here and I’ll be here as long as you need me to be.”
Jungkook shook his head. “But— What about your work? You were probably busy—”
“As I said, it’s no trouble. I want to help you so please let me,” Namjoon reassured him again.
Too weak to argue further, the omega sank into his bed, his eyes too tired to stay open for long.
“You have a rest, okay?” Namjoon instructed before touching his hand on Jungkook’s forehead, feeling his temperature.
Jungkook hadn’t meant to, but he leaned into the caring touch, his body drawn to the other.
“Gosh. You have a bit of a fever. I’ll get you some water and medication,” Namjoon let out before Jungkook heard him rushing off, occasionally banging clumsily into things.
As he waited for the alpha alone, he wondered to himself again, just what had he done to deserve the care of his kind hearted roommate?
He was too out of it when Namjoon arrived back by his side and he wasn’t sure if he was imagining it in his dreams when he distantly heard the alpha whisper softly, “Please get well soon. It’s killing me seeing you like this. Sleep now, sweet omega. I’m here.”
Jungkook knew better than to believe it to be true and not just another one of his dreams about the alpha he would never have.
*ੈ✩‧₊˚
When Jungkook awoke, the sheets around him were drenched from his fever but the horrible feeling he had yesterday was relieved.
Namjoon.
Namjoon got him from work, carried him all the way back to their home and tucked the omega in bed.
He shot out of his bed, stumbling as a pile of clothing fell from the sheets. The scent from the clothing fallen on the floor unmissable.
Sweet omega.
He shook his head, that had to be part of his imagination. There was no way Namjoon called him something so tender.
Eyeing the clothes on the floor, Jungkook sighed to himself. He wasn’t sure that he wanted to know how the scented clothes Namjoon had given him had ended up in his bed.
The clinking of plates drew his attention away. Namjoon was awake and in the kitchen, that was enough for Jungkook to finally get the courage to leave his bedroom.
When the omega opened his door, Namjoon’s attention was quickly on him from where he stood at the sink.
The alpha scratched the back of his neck, shifting on his feet as if nervous. “Do you feel any better? You went to sleep through the night without dinner so I assumed you’ll be hungry this morning. I tried to cook, which as you could guess, didn’t go to plan so I ordered instead.”
It was difficult to be anything but endeared by Namjoon’s caring rambling. Jungkook’s stomach warmed at how thoughtful he was, just for him. Even though his roommate was a terrible cook and a hazard to the kitchen, he still tried his best.
Jungkook knew he was well and truly doomed for Namjoon but, at this rate, he didn’t think he would ever be able to get over it. He just had to let it be until he couldn’t anymore and he didn’t think he would be able to handle the day it happened. The day he would lose his roommate and his only friend.
“I’m feeling a bit better. I’m sorry for all of the trouble I caused yesterday, I won’t try to go to work again until I’m feeling better,” Jungkook responded carefully, not wanting the feelings overwhelming him inside to spill out.
Namjoon shook his head. “Not at all. Here, come sit down. I ordered from that place you like.” The alpha pulled out a chair at their small dining table and took out some large containers, laying them out carefully.
“Thank you,” Jungkook spoke politely and took the seat, eyeing all of the food in front of him hungrily.
“Eat as much as you want, I ordered enough for there to be leftovers if you don’t feel like cooking,” Namjoon told him and took a seat on the opposite chair, taking a plate for himself too.
They ate in peaceful silence, until Jungkook’s belly was satisfied after yesterday’s draining day. Just when he was about to get up to at least do the dishes, Namjoon beat him to it, rushing to collect the dishes in the sink and began doing it himself.
“I’ll do it. You rest some more,” the alpha insisted, scrubbing away at the plates.
As Jungkook rested, he watched as Namjoon washed the dishes and couldn’t not notice the way his arms muscles would tense nicely as he scrubbed. It was a sight that left Jungkook feeling warmer, his stomach clenching in a way only his inner omega caused.
He isn’t our alpha. Stop ogling him, he’s just being nice.
Once Namjoon was done with the dishes, he turned around to face Jungkook again and when he did, he stopped, glancing at the omega’s face before asking, “Are you running a fever again? Would you like me to run you a bath?”
Jungkook frowned, touching his face that he hadn’t realised was wet with sweat. “That sounds good. Thank you, again. I don’t think I'll ever stop thanking you, actually.”
Namjoon shook his head with a genuine smile. “Don’t mention it.” Then, he walked away into the bathroom to prepare the bath.
The omega stayed put as he waited for the alpha, unsure what to do with himself. He scratched at his neck, glancing around the living space, starting to feel restless as the minutes went by.
It felt like forever before Namjoon returned. The alpha gestured Jungkook towards the door.
“Bath is ready for you.” He paused, staring at Jungkook’s neck. “Is it hurting? Your gland is all red.”
Jungkook took his hand away from his gland, not even aware that he had been scratching it for so long.
“I don’t know— I didn’t even realise I was scratching it. Shit. Now it hurts,” Jungkook muttered and tried his best not to touch it despite the need to keep scratching.
Jungkook walked into the bathroom. The bath was perfectly filled with bubbles and a few candles were lit around the sink.
“I thought it would be relaxing for you… Now I see it might be too much,” Namjoon suddenly looked so unsure and it didn’t suit him at all.
The omega reassured him, unable to take Namjoon in such a way. “It’s perfect. I already feel better just looking in here.”
Namjoon nodded. “I’m glad.” He hesitated for a moment at the door before letting out, “Would you like some help with your scent gland?”
Jungkook froze in his spot. “How do you want to help?”
“I don’t mean to overstep but— I did some research and scent gland massages are said to be helpful,” Namjoon answered earnestly.
As if the alpha couldn’t get any more loveable, he had to go out of his way even more for Jungkook and his care.
“You did some research for me?” Jungkook repeated what the other had said just to be sure he wasn’t dreaming it.
Namjoon nodded. “I just want to help you as much as I can, whatever you need.”
“Thank you, Namjoon. A scent gland massage sounds nice. Hopefully it can help dull the itch, it’s so frustrating,” Jungkook told him.
The omega made a move towards the sink to get a better look at the lit candles casting a beautiful glow around the room but as he made those few steps, his legs shook beneath him, threatening to give way.
Namjoon was by his side in an instant, pulling Jungkook into himself, steading him. “Hey, I got you. Careful.”
Jungkook leaned into the other, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to—”
“Shh, I got you. Don’t worry, omega.” Namjoon led him to the edge of the bathtub, helping him sit before crouching down in front of him.
From this level, Jungkook had a perfect view of the neckline and the slight hints of his scent coming through his dulling blockers. The omega leaned forward then, inching closer to where his uncontrolled instincts lead him.
“Jungkook? How are you feeling? You still there?” Namjoon asked softly.
The omega gave a little nod, his nose moving across Namjoon’s scent gland and inhaling, searching for any stronger hints of his roommate’s scent.
“… Perfect,” Jungkook let out in a mutter, losing himself in the sandalwood scent.
Large hands ran through the omega’s hair as he tucked his head into Namjoon’s neck. “Are you going to be okay in here alone? Do you need some help?”
Jungkook pulled away then, his heart clenching in his chest. “Even more help than you’ve already given me?”
“I told you, I’m here whenever you need me and I mean it. Now, would you like some help in here?” Namjoon spoke seriously.
Jungkook nodded, afraid that if he responded with words he would give away just how badly he wanted that.
“I’ll turn around.” Namjoon stood and turned.
It took a moment to understand what he meant but then Jungkook realised it was so he could strip and get into the bath that was still waiting for him to sink himself into.
He lifted his oversized top over his head, which now that we thought about it, he couldn’t recall changing into, and set it to the side. Then pulled his sweats down along with his underwear, folding them neatly before finally stepping into the bath.
The pleasant warmth blanketed around him and he sunk into the warm water, the bubbles floating around him, covering his body. He let out a blissful sigh, leaning his head back against the tub.
“You can turn back around now,” Jungkook told him shyly.
Jungkook stared at the bubbles covering him as the alpha faced him, keeping an eye on them in case they shifted and exposed him to the other.
“Do you want to dunk your head? I’ll wash your hair too,” Namjoon asked as he fetched the stool from the corner, placing it at the head of the bath.
The omega instantly flushed at the offer, choosing to quickly dump his head in hopes Namjoon wouldn’t notice the evidence of how such a question made him feel. He could just squirm at the idea of Namjoon running his gorgeous hands through his hair, pressing into his scalp.
When he came back to the surface, Namjoon had already picked the shampoo and poured it into his hand, ready to wash his hair.
“Close your eyes. I’m too clumsy not to get this everywhere," Namjoon instructed with a bashful chuckle.
As soon as Jungkook closed his eyes, perfect hands ran through his hair, scrubbing his scalp carefully and running through every strand.
He let out a peaceful sigh, leaning backing into the feeling of those wonderful hands that just felt right.
Namjoon was so, so careful as he washed Jungkook’s hair, being extra attentive to not getting water all over his face, instantly wiping it away when it got too close for his liking.
It was going to hurt. It was going to hurt when Jungkook eventually got better and would have to say goodbye to all of this. Then they would go back to being normal roommates.
Roommates — because that’s all they were. Every time Jungkook reminded himself of that fact, all he wanted to do was bury it down further and continue to imagine that they weren’t.
What if… What if?
“Your hair is all done. Is it okay if I touch your scent gland now?” Namjoon’s question pulled him from his thoughts.
Jungkook nodded. “Thank you, that felt nice.”
The omega tried to remain calm and still as Namjoon’s hand approached but nothing would ever prepare him for the touch of the alpha.
“I’m glad,” Namjoon muttered just as his fingers landed on the omega’s scent gland.
At the first touch, a deep breath escaped Jungkook’s lips before he sagged against the tub, leaning back, unable to support himself.
Namjoon used his other hand to support Jungkook’s head, stopping him from dipping into the water. “Careful, there.”
“Sorry. Jus- sensitive…” Jungkook slurred out, his body feeling tingly all over, down to his toes.
Slowly, almost hesitantly, Namjoon swiped a finger over the red bump that was the omega’s gland.
Jungkook sighed out blissfully, his eyes closing in a daze. He was warm all over, so full of warmth from Namjoon.
“How’s that? Is it too much?” Namjoon asked worriedly.
Jungkook shook his head as much as he could in Namjoon’s hold. “It’s good. More?”
Namjoon chuckled, continuing to swipe his finger on top of the gland, pressing down harder onto the bump.
The omega shivered, tilting his head and facing Namjoon as he began to message his scent gland. He smiled, content with the alpha’s touch.
As Namjoon continued, Jungkook didn’t even notice when the itch began to wear off, when the ache dulled and his breathing evened out smoothly. All he knew was peace.
“Alright, I think that’s enough for now… Lets get you out,” Namjoon murmured, his voice like a lullaby to the omega.
Jungkook nodded sluggishly. About to stand up, out of the bath, completely forgetting that he was bare before Namjoon turned around swiftly.
“Here, I’ll get the towel.” Namjoon pulled a towel from the rail, holding it behind himself for Jungkook to reach for.
He didn’t turn back around until Jungkook had the towel wrapped snuggly around himself and tapped him on the shoulder.
A hand was offered and taken, and then Jungkook was helped out of the bath and led down the hall and to his bedroom, Namjoon there to guide him every step of the way, his scent surrounding the omega.
When they arrived at Jungkook’s bed, he climbed in ungracefully and then his duvet was pulled over him, Namjoon tucking him in.
Jungkook watched his every move as Namjoon looked back at him before looking around his bed, seemingly looking for something.
The alpha paused, staring down at the floor, and crouched down to pick up a bundle of clothes, bringing them to his neck, rubbing them across his scent gland.
“There’s always these, if you want them, of course,” Namjoon mentioned, his voice hoarse.
Jungkook reached his hands out, making grabbing hands for the clothes that were being offered to him. Namjoon’s clothes. Freshly scented.
Namjoon smiled as he passed them to him. “Call if you need me, I’ll be working at my desk.”
A soft hum sound was all Jungkook could let out before he was once again, dozing off into a deep slumber.
*ੈ✩‧₊˚
As soon as Jungkook woke up and stumbled his way to the kitchen, a fumbling Namjoon came out of his bedroom, dashing to prepare a coffee.
From his presence, something deep stirred inside Jungkook, an urge to be at Namjoon’s side and nowhere else.
“Are you feeling any better?” The alpha asked as he stirred the coffee, making it just how Jungkook liked it.
Jungkook guessed that he could say he was feeling much better but now that the itch on his gland was going, his omega was itching for something else. Or more like someone. Someone who had prepared his coffee just the way he liked it and had been going out of his way to look after him. His roommate.
He shrugged before answering, “My gland isn’t feeling as irritated but my omega just…” Jungkook trailed off, trying to find the words.
How could he tell Namjoon that his omega wanted to be close to him, physically?
“What is it? How can I help? Are you in pain?” Namjoon asked urgently, worry filling his perfect features.
Jungkook shook his head quickly, “Not in any pain! Just…” He hesitated. “My omega wants to… be with you.”
Namjoon’s eyes widened. “Be with me?”
With a deep breath, he explained, “Like… be close to you. I know it's weird and too much but—”
“No. It's fine. You’re welcome to be close to me if that’s what you want and will make your little omega feel better. I’ll ease off the scent blockers too,” Namjoon cut off his rambling.
The omega inside Jungkook perked up at the name. Little omega.
“Are you sure? I don’t want to be annoying.” Jungkook asked.
Namjoon nodded, confirming with a beautiful smile. “Positive.”
With permission, Jungkook instinctively stepped closer to him, taking his coffee with a smile he hoped wouldn’t give away how hard he was swooning. “Thank you, this is just how I like it!”
Namjoon grinned. “No worries. There’s a new book that I’m in the middle of editing at my desk. I hope it won’t be too boring for you but you’re more than welcome to sit beside me. Or even bring your iPad with you so you can watch that new anime you’ve been watching.”
Jungkook hadn’t realised that Namjoon had noticed his love for anime and the thought was overwhelming to say the least. His heart in his chest skipped a beat and his belly fluttered with butterflies.
Just how much further could Namjoon’s care even go? He didn’t think he ever wanted to stop finding out.
“That sounds nice. Thank you,” Jungkook answered bashfully.
As soon as Jungkook finished his coffee, he was trailing close behind Namjoon’s every step, following him as the alpha stopped outside his room to collect his iPad. Then, into the alpha’s bedroom and accepting the seat pulled out for him next to Namjoon as he worked at his desk.
The scent of sandalwood flooded his senses in the most pleasantly overwhelming ways and the omega wanted to drown in it. His room, the scent coating every inch of the space was so Namjoon.
“Comfortable?” Namjoon asked as he started up his laptop, preparing his work.
Jungkook nodded, engrossed in his anime, receiving a chuckle from Namjoon as he got to work.
He wasn’t sure how much later it was when his head smacked into something hard and a concerned voice was in his ear immediately.
“Are you okay? I hope my shoulder didn’t hit you too hard,” Namjoon held Jungkook upright as he leaned onto him, his eyes drooping.
When he was aware of his surroundings again, Jungkook sat himself upright instantly, embarrassed that he’d managed to fall asleep again, on Namjoon’s shoulder of all places.
He rubbed his eyes, waking himself up. “I’m so sorry. Is your shoulder okay? I’ve been sleeping too much, gosh I’m a mess.”
“It’s fine. Don’t worry, Jungkook.” Namjoon reassured him, the hand holding him up right moving in circles comfortingly before pulling away. “If you’re feeling tired we can move to the bed, I can bring my laptop with me. If you’re comfortable with that, of course.” His hand moved to scratch the back of his neck as he finished.
Jungkook gulped. An invitation to Namjoon’s bed. Not quite as he imagined in his dreams but an offer nevertheless.
The omega inside answered for him, standing himself up and heading towards the bed. Namjoon followed him as soon as he grabbed his laptop and glasses from his desk. Then he climbed in and opened the duvet for Jungkook to join him.
Jungkook couldn't have moved faster if he tried.
Jungkook failed to focus on the iPad in front of his face but that proved hard with Namjoon next to him. He could feel the heat coming from him, his scent gland a few mere inches away, almost like it was teasing Jungkook to come closer and leave his own muted scent all over the alpha.
He shifted, pulling himself further away from Namjoon’s very tempting neck but of course the other was as attentive as ever.
“Are you still feeling bad? Is it your omega?” Namjoon worried.
By now, he understood Jungkook more than he understood himself.
The omega nodded. “… Want to be close again. Your neck is so close and….” He muttered, unable to find the words to finish.
“Would you like to scent? It’s good that your omega is recognising what they need,” Namjoon suggested.
There was only one answer to the offer and Jungkook spluttered it out quickly, turning around to face him. “Yes!” His voice raised before he recovered it with a quiet, “ … please.”
“Here.” Namjoon didn’t waste any time, moving his laptop to the side and tilting his head to the side, showing his bare scent gland.
For a moment, Jungkook remained still, taking in Namjoon’s tender expression as he allowed him to do as he pleased.
Gosh, he liked him so much. It was bordering on unbearable. He wondered if Namjoon had noticed it by now and was just being as polite as always in not commenting on it or what if…
No, there was no way he knew. He couldn’t.
“Thank you,” Jungkook managed to let out in a low mutter, shuffling closer and closer to his roommate before pausing inches away.
He inhaled deeply, letting Namjoon’s scent fill his senses. He shivered.
Then, Jungkook leaned an arm over, bracketing Namjoon in place and burrowed his nose into the crease of Namjoon’s neck, taking deep breaths as he moved not to miss a single note of his scent.
“There you go. Take what you need, sweet omega,” Namjoon whispered, his voice so low it was barely audible but enough to spur the other on.
Something in Jungkook’s chest made a deep, unhuman-like noise in response to the name, a quiet little purr before he started to swipe his nose across the scent gland, smothering it. The purr grew louder, a continuous rumble in the omega’s chest.
Jungkook did just that, he took what he needed. He wasn’t sure how long he was swiping at Namjoon’s neck before he caught himself, just as his tongue was about to lick across it. It was then that he pulled himself away before he could take it too far.
“Better?” Namjoon spoke, appearance slightly disheveled and voice rough.
Jungkook gave a little nod, moving himself back to lay on his back beside the alpha.
When Namjoon sat up and leaned over him, he surprised him by saying, “I must say, your scent seems to be getting stronger. The jasmine is lovely.”
Jungkook’s omega preened, proud that his scent is lovely to the alpha that they adore. Then, he tilted his head, showing the alpha his own scent gland.
Namjoon’s eyes widened a fraction before he nodded in understanding. “You want me to?”
With his neck offered to the other, Jungkook nodded, words lost to him as he hoped for the alpha in front of him to accept his offer.
“Alright. Whatever you need, sweet thing.” He moved closer, making Jungkook lean back on the bed, looking up at Namjoon as he hovered over him, laying on his side.
Jungkook’s breathing quickened when Namjoon dragged his nose into Jungkook’s neck, taking deep breaths as he trailed down, pausing at the bump of the gland.
The omega inside Jungkook tensed as Namjoon nosed above the gland, his hands clenching in the sheets below him, desperate for the other’s scent all over his own.
“Such a pretty scent,” Namjoon complimented in a low, breathy voice, his lips brushing the sensitive skin as he spoke.
His words made Jungkook shiver below him, his breath hitching and a quiet whimper like noise coming from the back of his throat, his omega responding to the alpha.
Namjoon chuckled softly, continuing, “It’s an honour to do this for such a sweet omega like you. It makes me and my alpha so, so pleased. Thank you for letting us take care of you, Jungkookie.”
Jungkook was thoroughly done for when Namjoon finally began to swipe his nose across the gland, smothering the gland in his own scent. Finally, the itch, the neediness was settled for a moment. The omega finally found some peace with the alpha.
The purr returned as the gland was covered with sandalwood, blanketing him from everything around him except them, as they lay together in Namjoon’s bed.
“That’s it…” Namjoon muttered, his breath fanning over Jungkook’s ear before he continued.
Jungkook continued to purr for who knows how long as Namjoon took his time, mapping out every inch of skin on his neck until it was scented perfectly. Only then did he pull back, his eyes glazed over with something Jungkook hadn’t noticed before.
“Better?” Namjoon asked in a gruff voice.
Finding his voice then, Jungkook responded, “So much better.”
Namjoon nodded, taking his glasses back from his bedside table and putting them back on, returning to work on his laptop whilst Jungkook slowly came back to the world around him and pressed play on the anime he had completely forgotten he was watching.
No one mentioned that the omega was still purring away, filling the pleasant silence.

Later that night, Jungkook still remained close at Namjoon’s side. Trailing behind him as his roommate headed to the living room to read. He sat only a few mere inches away, iPad still in hand and watching his anime.
A growl in someone’s stomach broke the quiet.
“Are you hungry?” Jungkook asked, his iPad immediately forgotten about.
Namjoon nodded bashfully. “I can order something or—“
Jungkook was getting up before he could finish his sentence. “I’ll make you something, pasta okay?”
Namjoon’s eyes lit up and he nodded rapidly, answering, “More than okay. Thank you. Do you need any help?”
“Are you any good at chopping?” Jungkook asked with a knowing smile, having a hunch of what the alpha’s response would be.
Namjoon’s face dropped. “I fear I might cut myself and somehow you if I try with a knife… You said pasta right? I can boil the noodles?”
Jungkook grinned, his heart blooming that the other was wanting to help despite not being skilled in the kitchen. “Perfect. You’ll be close to me too so my omega is more than pleased.”
He was glad that after everything Namjoon had been doing for him, Jungkook finally had something to do for him in return.
Whilst Jungkook was busy cutting up the ingredients, Namjoon was by his side, passing him whatever he needed.
“That smells amazing,” Namjoon commented, smelling around the frying pan.
Jungkook bit his lip, not trusting that his omega wouldn’t jump up to show his roommate just how much they enjoy his compliments.
He passed the pack of spaghetti over to Namjoon. “This is almost done. You’re up, alpha.” He told him, teasing him with the name.
Namjoon paused noticeably, then took the spaghetti, his jaw tensed before he responded, “I’ll do my best, omega.”
This time, the answering omegan chirp couldn’t be helped. Jungkook clamped a hand over his mouth the second he made the noise.
A warm hand patted his shoulder. “It’s alright. Your omega is very sweet.”
Of course, Jungkook was mortified but it was alright because it was Namjoon. Namjoon, who thought his omega was sweet.
Now he was determined to finish making this pasta and make it the best pasta the alpha had ever eaten.
Extra care was taken by Namjoon when he measured out what he thought was the correct amount of water and spaghetti, cooked to perfection.
When they mixed it together and plated it up, not making it to the table, Namjoon took a fork and jabbed it in the pasta and shoveled it in his mouth.
He waved his fork at the dish as he ate, only stopping to compliment, “This is seriously amazing. Delicious.”
This time, Jungkook let the omegan chirp out without bothering to contain it.
Alpha liked it.

If Namjoon was bothered by the clingyness, he didn’t show it. He encouraged it even.
When they sat in the living room, the alpha was patting the spot beside him, welcoming the omega to sit by his side and pulling a blanket over the both of them as they watched a random documentary.
It was all too good to feel real. The perfect evening. It had to end at some point and when it did, Jungkook wouldn’t allow it. He couldn’t.
“Well, it’s getting quite late and I must say I’m shattered. You must be too.” Namjoon yawned, turning off the TV and standing up.
As the gentleman he was, he offered a hand to Jungkook, who took it sleepily and allowed himself to be pulled up. Their hands stayed locked together as Namjoon turned off all the lights, trailing the sleepy omega behind him until they were outside their bedroom doors.
That’s when Jungkook’s heart fell in his chest.
Namjoon eyed him with a gentle smile and began, “Goodnight—”
Jungkook tugged at his hand, drawing the other closer and let out a quiet, “… No.”
Namjoon’s breath hitched. “No?”
The omega shook his head rapidly, refusing to let go of his hand. Refusing to let go of him.
“Don’t want you to be away from me…” Jungkook admitted in a whisper.
Namjoon was ever so understanding as he responded easily, “Then, would you like to sleep in my bed with me? Would that settle your omega?”
It would do so much more than just settle Jungkook’s omega but he would never know that.
“Please…” Jungkook stepped forward, looking up at Namjoon pleadingly.
Hand held tightly in his, Namjoon led them to the bathroom, stopping in front of the sink and told him, “Let’s brush our teeth first and then we can go to bed.”
Jungkook’s omega settled in his chest. Alpha wanted to rest with them.
He had never been so happy as he brushed his teeth beside Namjoon, seeing them in the mirror as they brushed their teeth together.
Every time he looked up, there they would be, in the mirror standing side by side, looking like the picture of Jungkook’s fantasy dreams.
When they were done, they still remained practically glued together as they made their way back to the alpha’s room where they would spend the night together.
Jungkook always hoped spending the night in Namjoon’s room would be for different circumstances rather than it being because he made himself dangerously ill due to his own loneliness.
He watched for a moment as Namjoon climbed into his side of the bed before joining him on the other side. The strong scent of the other hitting him instantly, spreading warmth throughout his body, settling in his tummy.
Instinctively, all he wanted to do was roll around in the sheets, smothering himself in his roommate's scent but that would have to come only in his dreams, he couldn’t become any more greedy than he was already becoming when it came to the other.
“Goodnight, Jungkook. Sleep well,” Namjoon muttered sleepily, shifting in the bed before settling.
Jungkook pulled the covers over himself and inhaled quietly, hoping he wouldn’t hear it, then responded equally as sleepy, “Goodnight, alpha.”

Jungkook truly didn’t know what he had done before it was far too late.
At some point during the early hours of the morning, he awoke with Namjoon still asleep, snoring softly next to him.
Glancing at him, Jungkook admired how soft and peaceful he looked. The contrast of his dark hair against the pillow, hand clutching at the sheet, cheeks slightly reddened and his scent naturally oozing off of him as he slept, was so peaceful and innocent. Vulnerable.
Too vulnerable according to Jungkook’s omega. His heart sped up, their alpha needed to be protected whilst he rested.
There was only one solution to fix it in his mind. He scrambled out of the bed, to his own room, collecting his pillows and as many blankets as he could fit in his hand and ran back, placing them on his side of Namjoon’s bed.
Then, as quietly as possible without disturbing the alpha, he opened Namjoon’s wardrobe and pulled out a bunch of clothes that were drenched in his scent.
Once he thought he had enough to work with, he got to work.
One by one, he laid pillows wherever felt right along the outside of Namjoon’s bed. Moving them when they weren’t pretty enough for his liking and weaving his blankets mixed with the alpha’s clothes in a secure barrier.
Then he created a small middle layer, tucking Namjoon in with a few blankets with the omega’s own faint scent until he was protected enough.
It had been hours before he was finally pleased with what he had made. Then he realised what it actually was.
A nest.
A nest, something he hadn’t made in months, maybe even a year properly and he had surrounded Namjoon in it.
He made a nest for himself and Namjoon. Mainly Namjoon.
After his moment of realisation, that’s when Namjoon began to stir. He watched nervously as the alpha’s eyes slowly blinked open, looking around before his gaze settled on Jungkook kneeling anxiously at the foot of the bed.
He sat up, rubbing his eyes. “Jungkook? Are you okay?” Namjoon asked worriedly when he noticed the anxious omega.
Sitting up caused some of the blankets laid on top of him to shift off of him and Jungkook made a noise in the back of his throat. The nest had been disrupted.
At the noise, Namjoon looked suddenly alert and that’s when he seemingly noticed what was surrounding him.
He sucked in a breath. “Is this… Is this your nest, omega?”
Jungkook nodded, confirming in a small voice, “Yes. To protect alpha as he sleeps. My instincts did it before I even noticed what it was.”
Namjoon grinned, looking all across the nest. “Well, it’s very pretty, Jungkookie.Thank you for protecting me.”
The omega preened, proud of himself and more encouraged than ever about his nesting, an instinct he thought had practically left him.
Slowly but surely, with Namjoon by his side, his omega was coming back to him in more ways than one.
ੈ✩‧₊˚
Things had only improved from there over the next week, with regular scenting with massages mixed in. His gland had only a hint of the red mark and the bump had gone down, all whilst they were still sharing the alpha’s bed.
He was feeling like his old self again except there was one major unmissable change. Namjoon.
Namjoon who had just turned to him as they lay in the nest, with his phone in his hand. “I’ve been thinking…”
Jungkook perked up, his heart skipping a beat in his chest. They’d been spending practically every moment together for the past month, maybe that meant that Namjoon shared his feel—
“Since you’ve been doing so well, what do you think about coming out with my friends and I?” Namjoon asked kindly, completely oblivious to where Jungkook’s mind had run off to.
Blinking out of his thoughts, Jungkook considered the suggestion before responding, “Do you think I’m ready for it and will your friends be alright with me being there since I’ve never met them?”
Instantly, the other nodded. “I think you are and you don’t have to be worried about my friends. I know they’ll love to meet you.”
“Really?” Jungkook was unsure.
Namjoon placed a hand on Jungkook’s shoulder gently and reassured him, “Really.”
Very aware of the warm touch on his shoulder, Jungkook distracted himself by asking, “So when would it be?”
The alpha pulled away and stood with a grin. “Tonight.”
Jungkook spluttered, climbing out the bed, “Tonight?! But I’m not prepared and I look—“
Namjoon stopped his blabbering. “You look perfect as always. Don’t worry, I’ll be there. Everything will be okay. I think this will be good for you and if at any point you’re not feeling it, we come home. Okay?”
The omega calmed slightly from the other’s comforting words. “Okay, I trust you.”
It had taken much longer than necessary for the omega to get ready for the evening but he hadn’t gone out in far too long which meant he had to go through his whole wardrobe before he found something suitable.
Namjoon had sweetly checked on him a few times once he heard Jungkook’s frustrated noises as he got ready but he assured him he was okay. Totally not still panicking at all…
A gentle knock came on Jungkook’s door as the time neared 7pm. “Jungkook? Are you nearly ready?”
He looked at the clothes he had gone with in the mirror, his leather jacket, oversized trousers and big chunky boots in his hands ready to go on.
With a deep breath, he headed to the door and opened it where his roommate was waiting.
“I’m ready,” He told him.
Namjoon glanced at him from head to toe, rubbing a hand on his chin and taking a step back. “I can see that. You look lovely.”
Jungkook felt his cheeks warm. “Thank you, you too.”
It was true, Namjoon did look as lovely as ever with his dark trousers with the coziest looking jumper slightly tucked in.
He looked like the perfect image of what Jungkook wanted to snuggle into and never let go.
“Let’s get going then, it’ll be about a ten minute walk.” Namjoon told him, his cheeks flushed with a hint of red.
Jungkook hadn’t properly been outside since the incident at work. His belly tensed as they neared the front door.
What if an alpha’s scent set him off again? What if the presence of others made his scent gland flare up again? What if all the progress was for nothing?
But Namjoon was there though and with him, everything was okay and he said if he’s not feeling it they can come home.
With Namjoon by his side, maybe he didn’t have a reason to worry at all, the other had given him no reason to worry since his diagnosis. He had been the sole reason for his recovery.
If Namjoon thought he could do it, surely he could? Right?
He followed wordlessly behind Namjoon as he locked the door and began the journey out of the building, to the bar.
The evening had a perfect breeze blowing, the direction blowing Namjoon’s sandalwood in his direction and unknowingly soothing the omega as they walked.
“I can hear you worrying from here,” Namjoon spoke softly as they walked.
Jungkook frowned, annoyed with himself. “I know, I’m sorry. Can’t stop thinking about it going wrong.”
“I won’t tell you to stop worrying because I know things aren’t as simple as that so I’ll just remind you, I’m always here for whenever you need me,” Namjoon responded wholeheartedly.
His heart warmed at the other’s words. He always knew what to say or do for him, better than he knew himself.
“Thank you, Namjoon. This means more than you will ever know,” Jungkook responded truthfully, his heart pouring through for the alpha.
They walked in comforting silence for a while before they arrived in the bar area and immediately the atmosphere changed. Loud laughter and chatter was around them and instinctively, Jungkook moved closer to Namjoon.
Namjoon seemed to understand as he grabbed ahold of Jungkook’s hand, leading him through the crowds and into the bar, only stopping when they arrived at a booth.
Jungkook glanced nervously at four men sitting and chatting amongst themself then paused to take a double take at a fifth person on the end.
“Jungkookie?” Jin beat him to it, saying his name with equal surprise as the omega was feeling.
Namjoon glanced between Jin and Jungkook and then to a brown haired man sitting beside Jin. “Ah, so this is the Jin you’re dating, Hobi?”
“Indeed he is. How do you know Namjoonie’s friend, Jin?” He confirmed and turned to Jin.
Jin recovered from his surprise and grinned. “This is Jungkook. He works at my shop.”
“And Jungkook is the same Jungkook as Namjoonie’s Jungkook. Interesting,” Another cut in with a smirk.
Jungkook grew flustered at being referred to as Namjoonie’s Jungkook but he supposed that was what he was. His omega enjoyed it very much.
“Introduce yourselves now that we all know Jungkook here,” Namjoon told them, shifting the conversation.
Jin’s partner introduced himself first, “I’m Hoseok, nice to finally meet you.”
“I’m Jimin, Namjoon sure has told us a lot about you. You’re gorgeous,” The blond one beside him followed.
Jungkook flushed at the compliment, what had Namjoon told them about him?
A handsome man smiled beside him. “I’m Taehyung, lovely to meet you, Jungkookie.”
“And I’m Yoongi.” The last one introduced himself with a nod.
Namjoon gestured to the booth with his hand. “You sit first.”
With a shy nod, Jungkook sat himself next to Jin with Namjoon following next to him.
“Nice to meet you guys,” Jungkook found his voice despite his nerves, although a bit quiet.
Jimin smirked. “Meeting both Jin and Jungkook in one night, hm?”
Namjoon’s jaw tensed for a moment, it was barely noticeable before it was gone.
“So, Jungkook and Jin, tell us about yourselves,” Taehyung spoke.
Jungkook allowed Jin to go, too shy to go first.
“Well. I’m Kim Seokjin, I own a coffee shop and I’ve been dating Hoseok for about a month now.” Jin pulled Hoseok into his side confidently.
Jimin giggled. “We know, he hasn’t stopped bragging about you, you know?”
Taehyung chuckled before turning to Jungkook, “What about you?”
Jungkook gulped, taking a nervous breath. It was just introducing himself to Namjoon’s friends, what was the big deal? Okay, it was a big deal to him.
A warm hand took hold of his underneath the table. Glancing down, he eased up, seeing his and Namjoon’s hands linked together. Namjoon was here. It was okay.
He found his voice. “I’m Jeon Jungkook. Namjoon’s roommate and I work at Jin’s shop but I’m on a bit of a break at the moment.”
“Are you single, Jungkookie?” Jimin caught him off guard.
He flushed as he nodded. “Yes. Haven’t dated in a few years, I’m afraid.”
“There’s nothing wrong with that,” Yoongi responded, speaking for the first time.
Jimin nodded. “Of course, I just can’t help my curiosity.”
Jimin and Taehyung glanced at each other, seemingly communicating silently with each other then glancing at Namjoon who looked away.
“Can I get you a drink?” Namjoon then asked.
The omega’s belly did a little swoop inside. “Are you sure?”
Namjoon nodded surely. “Of course. Alcohol or a soft drink?”
Whilst the alcohol would help him with his nerves, he didn’t want to make a fool out of himself with Namjoon’s friends who he had just met, so he chose the latter option. “Can I just get a pepsi please?”
The alpha stood before he even finished his sentence. “One pepsi coming up!”
Jungkook chuckled fondly to himself as he watched his roommate walk to the bar. He was still nervous as hell about coming out but so far it was fine and he was beyond glad that somehow Jin had a link between Namjoon’s friends. It was relieving that he wasn’t the only new person to the group of friends.
“So Jungkook, do you dance?” Hoseok questioned, receiving a laugh from Jin beside him.
Jungkook tilted his head at the question. “I mean… Not really? But I could?”
“Don’t mind the question, Jungkookie. He’s a dance teacher that insists everyone can dance,” Jin told him.
Hoseok spluttered, “What? It's true, everyone can if they try!”
Namjoon returned then with two pepsis in his hand and placed one in front of him. “You’re not drinking?”
“I just didn’t feel like it tonight.” Namjoon shrugged with a little smile.
The omega only managed a few sips of his drink before he was being pulled out of the booth by an excited Jimin and Taehyung. “You said you could dance so come with us. You too, Hobi!” They giggled.
The music blared around them as they moved through the sweaty bodies and into the group of people dancing. Jungkook laughed at Jimin and Taehyung’s over the top dancing with Hoseok bumping them from their sides.
Feeling their confidence radiating off of them and onto himself, Jungkook started to move along with them, receiving cheers from them.
Taehyung linked an arm around his shoulder as they danced together before Jimin leaned into Jungkook’s ear and told him. “Theres a guy over there looking at you, Jungkook.”
Jungkook looked around and, sure enough, to the side in a group of alphas was a guy looking at him. When he saw the omega looking back at him he raised his glass and smiled in his direction.
“You interested?” Jimin asked genuinely.
Jungkook rapidly shook his head. “No… Not that kind of night.”
“Alright!” Jimin understood, dancing closer to him, pulling him gently and turning him away from the guy interested in him.
Taehyung pointed to the booth and laughed. “Look at them over there!”
Jungkook glanced back to the booth and jumped slightly when he noticed Namjoon’s gaze pointed directly at him, sipping his drink slowly with a look on his face he had never seen before. Jin was beside him looking at Hoseok and Yoongi eyes are trained on Jimin and Taehyung.
The omega shivered instinctively when the alpha didn't look away from him. He kept looking back at Namjoon for long enough not to notice a presence behind him until there was a tap on his shoulder.
He turned and tensed when he saw it was the guy who had been looking at him from before. “How's your night going? Can I get you a drink?”
Jungkook coughed, suddenly anxious. “N-No it's okay, I already got one. Thank you though.”
The guy frowned and took a step forward, “But your scent—”
Jimin, Hoseok and Taehyung placed Jungkook between them before he could finish his sentence and then there was a familiar voice speaking sternly from behind them. “He said no. Move on.”
Jungkok jumped in his boots at Namjoon’s deep voice, a tone he had never heard him use before.
The guy got the message and scampered off but it was too late and Jungkook already felt like the world was falling from under him. His peace had been ruined just by a mere incident. He wanted to go home.
“What does he mean by my scent? What’s wrong with my scent?” His eyes teared up as he looked at the group for answers.
Jimin shook his head. “Don’t worry that guy was just being ridiculous.”
“What does he mean?” Jungkook asked Namjoon directly.
Namjoon looked conflicted before he sighed and answered, “Your scent is quite strong right now.”
Was it? Jungkook had been having so much fun with the group that he hadn’t even noticed. Now that he was aware, he smelt around himself and the scent of jasmine was very potent in the air.
Unknowingly he had put a target on himself with his scent flowing so strong, attracting anyone nearby.
“Namjoon?” Jungkook called, seconds away from breaking.
Namjoon was in his space immediately. “Yes, Jungkook?”
“Please take me home.” Jungkook stared at the floor as he asked, too embarrassed to face any of them.
It had been going so well until it wasn’t. Until it went as bad as it could have gone. He thought he was getting better but of course he wasn’t. He couldn't even control his own omega. His own omega was rejecting him.
“Of course.” Namjoon didn’t ask any questions as he pulled him into his side, leading him out and onto the street where he quickly called an uber.
The group followed worriedly after them.
“It’s really okay, Jungkook. It’s been really nice to meet you,” Jimin tried to comfort.
Although his words came from true kindness, Jungkook couldn’t hear much of what was going on around him. He was far too ashamed of himself.
He heard muttering around him as Namjoon ushered him into the car when it arrived and eventually found his voice as he was about to close the door. “I’m sorry for all of this. God, I’m so embarrassed. I was having fun up until…”
“You don’t need to explain. We understand and we look forward to seeing you again soon,” Yoongi stopped him, tone filled with understanding.
When Namjoon closed the door and got in on the other side, embarrassment only tortured Jungkook’s mind. It had been going so well, too well, he should have known it was too good to last.
The car ride was silent and Jungkook couldn’t help but picture the look on Namjoon’s face. Was he mad? He hadn’t spoken a word since they began their journey home. Maybe disappointed?
They entered their home a few minutes later and the alpha still hadn’t spoken a word. That's when Jungkook couldn’t take it anymore.
“Are you mad at me? I’m really sorry, I don’t know what my omega was thinking. I didn’t mean to cause a scene with your friends, especially when you’ve been so kind and invited me out with you. Please, I’m really sorry. I know I’ve disappointed you and everything you have done for me has been for nothing. I’ll find someone else to help with it, I don’t want to burden you anymore.” Jungkook burst out, close to tears.
Namjoon’s jaw clenched once again before he shook his head, running a hand through his hair and sighing outwardly. “You think I’m mad at you? Of course not. I know you can’t help it, I don’t blame you for anything and you don’t need to blame yourself. Okay? It’s me I’m mad at. I’m the one who invited you and yet I… I let myself feel jealous over something you can’t help— Something I'm supposed to be helping you with! I let my feelings for you take over—”
His face scrunched up and he tugged at his hair. “Fuck, I can’t beleive I said that. Please ignore what I said but I understand if you’re uncomfortable living with me now that I just blabbered that out like an idiot. God. I’ve ruined everything.”
Jungkook put an end to Namjoon’s panicked rambling by placing his lips on his.
Namjoon froze against him long enough for the omega to worry that he had made the wrong decision but before he could pull away, the alpha’s lips began to move against his.
His lips consumed the omega’s, passionate and urgent as he kissed back. The alpha placed his hands onto Jungkook’s hips and tugged him forward, crashing him against his chest as he continued to kiss him.
Jungkook had never been kissed in such a way before and he didn’t want it to stop. He was completely lost to the world around him except for the way Namjoon was touching him.
Namjoon was kissing him! After so long of wanting him, hoping for something he thought he couldn’t have. Namjoon was kissing him.
A warm hand skimmed up Jungkook’s body until it landed on the back of his neck, holding him as their lips continued to move. A helpless whimper left him as he fought to keep up with the other but before he could, Namjoon abruptly pulled away.
“Fuck. Jungkook… I can’t get enough of you. Now that you’ve given me a taste I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to stop,” Namjoon groaned, sounding pained.
Jungkook’s heart bloomed in his chest, skipping beats. “Really? You don’t have to stop… I don’t want you to.”
Namjoon sucked in a breath, gazing into his eyes as he repeated, “You don’t want me to stop?”
The omega shook his head. “No. I never want you to stop. The truth is– I like you. I’ve liked you for a while. And when you accepted to help me with all this,” He gestured to the light red mark on his scent gland, “My liking of you only grew and never stopped. So tell me, did you really mean it when you said you have feelings for me?”
“Of course I did. How could I not? Do you know how hard it's been to keep my alpha in check when I’m around you? The first time we met, my alpha made it clear that he wanted you and then the more I got to know you I wanted you too. All of me has always wanted you,” Namjoon confessed breathlessly.
Jungkook couldn’t quite believe it so he repeated again. “Really?”
With a chuckle Namjoon nodded. “I really do…” He stepped closer and asked, “Now, could I kiss you some more?”
Jungkook giggled, feeling giddy, wrapping his arms around Namjoon’s neck and leaning into him. “You sure can and if you want… You can do some more.”
Namjoon’s nostrils flared. “Some more? Maybe I will then, omega.” He didn’t wait for a response before diving back in and kissing him.
Once the omega had a taste of Namjoon it was like he couldn’t get enough. He didn’t stop moving his lips with his until he was breathless. He only moved away to catch his breath before moving back in. When Namjoon eased his tongue into the kiss, he met it with his in a dance.
He sighed into the kiss, letting all of his repressed feelings for the alpha out. He allowed the other to move them backward into their home, occasionally bumping into the walls as they backed into the alpha’s room, lips not leaving each other.
The soft sheets covering Jungkook’s nest surrounded him when Jungkook was gently pushed on his back on Namjoon’s bed. He watched as the alpha stood at the foot of the bed, pulling his top over his head, revealing perfect golden skin just waiting to be touched and tasted.
Jungkook licked his lips as he watched Namjoon’s muscles flexing when he leaned over his body. He wanted him. He wanted him so bad.
Namjoon’s nose twitched and his expression suddenly looked darker. He cursed. “Fuck. You smell so fucking good.”
Heat pooled in Jungkook’s belly at his words. He smelled the air, sniffing for his scent and then his eyes widened in realisation. The jasmine scent in the room was strong, much stronger than usual. He then became aware of the wetness between his legs.
He was wet. Dripping for the alpha above him.
Jungkook blushed profusely. “I’m–”
“You’re soaking wet for me.” Namjoon finished his sentence, eying him as if he were prey.
The omega gulped as he watched the other for his next move. He didn’t expect it when Namjoon pressed his lips to his forehead, before tugging on the bottom of his top.
“Can I take this off?” He asked for permission.
Jungkook granted it with a nod, raising his arms over his head for the alpha to tug it off, placing it somewhere to the side of the nest. Then, he leaned back down, starting from the omega’s neck, peppering kisses down to his chest where he took his time mapping out the bare skin.
When he pressed his lips to a nipple, Jungkook jolted when heat shot through him at the touch, receiving an eyebrow raise from Namjoon.
“Sensitive here?” Namjoon questioned in a low grumble, moving his lips back down to the sensitive place, paying extra attention to it.
Jungkook shivered against him as the alpha teased his nipple when he licked along it, sucking them into his mouth before easing off of it with a pop.
He continued his trail of kisses down his body, leaving his lips on every dent of muscle. Jungkook had never felt so much in his entire life. No one had paid this much attention to him and his body as Namjoon was doing. He felt treasured.
“You’re so damn beautiful,” Namjoon let out as he came back up, bracketing his arms around Jungkook’s head.
It was then that Jungkook felt the arousal resting against his thigh which wasn’t his own. His inner omega preened at the knowledge.
“And you smell so good, I need more of it,” Namjoon continued, pressing his nose into Jungkook’s neck, inches away from his scent gland and inhaling deeply.
The alpha sighed against his neck, drinking in his jasmine scent with every breath and teasing his tongue along the sensitive gland. The scent of sandalwood washed over him the more Namjoon scented him, it felt like he was being wrapped in a warm blanket of just the alpha.
Jungkook nudged Namjoon's shoulder when the sensation of his wetness began too much to bear, his arousal becoming too much to handle. He needed something and he needed it now.
Namjoon moved back in question and the omega could only let out a quiet, longing, “Please.”
With a gulp the alpha asked, “You’re sure?”
Jungkook nodded, moving his thighs apart, feeling restless.
“I want to taste you,” Namjoon told him, desire laced in his tone.
More slick dripped from him at Namjoon’s words. He couldn’t mean– Could he? No one had ever done that for him.
Namjoon’s hand moved down to the waistband of his trousers, resting there. “Can I take these off?”
Jungkook nodded, words feeling far away to him in the moment. He watched as his button was undone, the zipper was slowly tugged down and trousers tugged open, revealing the wet patch showing through his underwear from his desire.
“Lift your hips for me, pretty.” Namjoon tapped on his hips gently.
When Jungkook did so, the alpha pulled his trousers off and away, leaving him in only his boxers. He tried not to shy away under Namjoon’s gaze but it was difficult with how long the other was eying him up.
He attempted to look to the side but Namjoon placed a hand on his cheek, stopping him. “Don’t. I want to look at all of you. I’ve wanted this for so long.”
The alpha kept his eyes on Jungkook as he brushed his hand down his body, pulling at his boxers and lifting his legs to tug them off, revealing the omega just for him.
Gaze still locked to him, Namjoon took hold of one of Jungkook’s thighs, giving it a firm squeeze before lifting it to his chest. He pressed his lips along the pathway down, stopping at Jungkook’s heated arousal.
“Alpha.” Jungkook let out helplessly, growing desperate for him.
Namjoon hushed him softly, giving soothing rubs to his thigh. “Alphas here.”
Finally, after what felt like eternity, he dove down, licking the slick from Jungkook’s inner legs before arriving at the source. He showed no mercy as he licked at every drop, groaning low in his throat as he tasted the omega.
Jungkook’s head fell back as he gasped for breath, pleasure flooding his senses until all he knew were the sensations Namjoon was giving him.
“N-Namjoon, I–” He gasped out, breaking into a loud moan, completely overwhelmed.
Uncontrollable pleasure raced through him as the alpha continued, not slowing his fast pace and leaving Jungkook shaking in the nest. He gasped for air as he was completely lost in the feeling coming closer and closer to the surface until it washed over him, taking him completely.
Jungkook came with a pitiful whimper, gushing against Namjoon’s lips as he continued to drink him in, not leaving a single drop to waste as if he were starved.
Only when a stray tear ran down the omega’s cheek did he relent.
“Beautiful,” Namjoon whispered, coming up to wipe the tear gently.
When Jungkook came back to himself, an abrupt chuckle left him. He just couldn’t believe the reality he found himself in. A few hours ago he was feeling completely helpless, thinking that he was going to lose his inner omega for good but then of course Namjoon was there, holding him together.
For the first time in a long time, Jungkook was one with his inner omega.
“What’s making you laugh?” Namjoon chuckled along with him, smiling tenderly.
Jungkook shrugged with a giggle, “Oh nothing, really. I’m just really happy right now.”
“You’re precious.” Namjoon pressed a kiss to his forehead affectionately.
The alpha ran his hands down Jungkook’s thighs, his touch calming the omega. “Do you still want–” Namjooon began.
“I want. Please.” Jungkook confirmed, placing a hesitant hand on the waistband of Namjoon’s trousers.
Namjoon nodded, undoing his belt and unbuttoning his trousers. “Okay, omega. Whatever you need.”
Jungkook replaced the other’s hands with his own, fiddling with the zipper for a moment before pulling it down and tugging the trousers open.
“Thank you, Jungkook,” Namjoon spoke with a pleased smile then moved off of the bed, stepping out of his trousers.
When he climbed back over Jungkook, he was left in just his boxers, his arousal very noticeable behind the tight fabric.
He brushed a lock of hair behind Jungkook’s hair, whispering under his breath, “Gorgeous, gorgeous omega.”
His hand trailed between Jungkook’s thighs until he reached his hole, still dripping with slick. The tip of his finger teased his rim, rubbing at the slick before moving back up, pressing at the tip of his ignored cock.
Jungkook moaned, gripping onto Namjoon’s arm as his fingers teased him.
He touched the tip of his arousal, dragging his fingers back down to his hole, peaking the tip of his finger at the entrance, only going in a slight inch and rubbing with his slick.
It was like torture. The omega whimpered out, “Please stop teasing– I need you inside.”
“I know, sweet omega. I just enjoy exploring you. No more teasing, I promise,” Namjoon cooed.
True to his word, he stopped the teasing and instead carefully moved his finger, slowly moving it inside him before drawing back and repeating.
Jungkook tugged on his wrist, moving the alpha’s hand faster, insisting, “More.”
Namjoon listened, pressing another finger into him, continuing to move inside of him. When Jungkook began to thrust himself back against him, he sped up his movements, scissoring his fingers.
“You’re so tight,” Namjoon groaned as he stretched him out, adding another.
Jungkook could only hold onto him as he moved his fingers inside of him, dragging out the tortuous pleasure until he deemed him ready.
When Namjoon’s fingers left him, he brought his hand into his boxers and to his own cock, smearing the slick coating his hand onto his stiff arousal.
The omega watched in fascination as Namjoon rubbed his cock, now glistening with his slick and he kept watching as he pulled his boxers down, pulling them off of his legs and throwing them aside.
He was big. Bigger than anyone he had taken before and the knowledge made him nervous. Would he be able to take him?
“If it hurts at any point, please tell me and I’ll stop. Okay?” Namjoon told him seriously, picking up on his nervousness.
Jungkook nodded with a deep breath, opening his legs back up to make room for him which the alpha immediately filled.
When Namjoon took a hold of himself, inching closer to where Jungkook needed him the most, it felt like it went on for minutes on end when in reality it was only a few seconds. And when he finally pressed inside of Jungkook, stretching him to a thickness he had never felt before, it was like the world stopped.
He gripped onto Namjoon’s back, needing something to hold onto as the alpha pushed in a few inches and paused, watching for his reaction.
“Does it hurt?” He asked worriedly.
Jungkook shook his head because it didn’t. It was just a lot in the most overwhelmingly perfect of ways. His inner omega rejoiced at being so full.
He kept his grip on Namjoon when the other pushed in further, ever so carefully, feeding him inch by inch, keeping his eyes locked to him the entire way until he bottomed out.
Without meaning to, Jungkook clenched tightly around him, making Namjoon twitch inside him and groan deeply above him. “You’re killing me, sweet.”
“You’re filling me so good, alpha,” Jungkook whimpered out, his hips trying to move against him.
Namjoon’s jaw clenched as he pulled back and sunk back in, thrusting slowly inside of him, rocking him into the nest with every movement. He breathed deeply as if he were holding on by a mere thread as he sank into him.
“Alpha,” Jungkook called out, matching his thrusts and clawing at his back for more.
Namjoon called right back, speeding up with his movements, “Omega.”
The scent of sandalwood and jasmine exploded around them as they breathed in each other's air, not glancing away from each other for even one second, completely consumed with one another.
With the bedpost rocking into the wall, Namjoon pulled Jungkook closer to him by his hips, lifting him slightly and slamming back into him with heavy force.
“Ah– Please!” Jungkook moaned out, begging him.
Namjoon angled his thrusts perfectly, jabbing into the spot that made him see stars again and again, and muttered heatedly, “What do you want, Jungkook?”
Jungkook gasped for breath, trying to find the words for a few moments before they spilled out of him in an overwhelmed stutter, “I wanna come. Please make me come.”
“Oh, I can certainly do that for you, sweet omega.” Namjoon grinned menacingly, snapping his hips harshly.
Jungkook knew he couldn’t last much longer with the way Namjoon was relentlessly fucking into him as he even had a few tears streaming down his cheeks from how much pleasure the alpha was giving him.
“Come with me,” Namjoon breathed out as he ground his hips down, bringing the omega to his peak.
His eyes snapped shut as he sobbed out, clenching down on the other as he spilled deep inside him. Namjoon was there holding him as he shook from the force of the orgasm, still riding the waves of his own.
When Jungkook eventually came back to himself, he was tucked into Namjoon’s side, purring as he rubbed soothing circles on his back, still holding him.
He glanced up, Namjoon’s attention on him as their gazes met, and whispered, “Namjoon?”
“Yes, Jungkook?” He whispered straight back.
Shyly, Jungkook asked hoping he wasn’t thinking too far ahead of himself but needing to know, “Are we boyfriends now?”
Namjoon shook against him as he chuckled before answering, “Yes, we’re boyfriends now, my sweet thing.”

A few Months Later
“Your scent gland inflammation has gone down as well as the redness and your scent levels have improved massively,” The doctor told Jungkook as he sat in the examination room with Namjoon in the chair next to him for support, his hand held by the alpha’s on his lap.
Jungkook smiled, relieved. “So I’m on my way to being fully recovered?”
The doctor nodded, confirming, “Yes, indeed. I’d even say you’re on your way back to regular heat cycles. A few months at most before your next heat.”
Jungkook’s heart dropped in his chest. A heat? He hadn’t had one in quite some time and it was something he hadn’t even discussed with Namjoon yet. He didn’t even know if the other was comfortable being with him during it.
“Will your alpha be helping you through it?” The doctor asked, gesturing towards Namjoon.
Namjoon squeezed his hand, looking at him for an answer with the most understanding expression.
The choice was left with him and from that look alone, Jungkook knew Namjoon would be okay with whatever he decided, but he only wanted one thing and he was sure of it when he answered, “Yes, he will.”
“Well, that’s perfect. I wouldn’t advise a heat alone when you’re nearly at this stage of full recovery,” The doctor spoke, typing away on his computer.
When they left the hospital room, Jungkook stopped them on the way to his car. “You really want to help me through my heat?”
Namjoon nodded with an earnest smile. “Of course I do. I’m always here for whenever you need me so if this is what you want, I more than want to help you through it.”
Jungkook threw his arms around the alpha, making him stumble slightly before he caught himself and wrapped his arms around him. Then they pressed their lips together, sharing a tender kiss.
The End.
