Work Text:
Jas sat on the floor of the Adventurer's Guild, close to warm fire while she quietly played with two dolls. Gil and Marlon both leaned against the counter, talking with Marnie.
"Thank you so much for this," she said for probably the fifth time. "With Shane out of town I thought I might just have to take her to the clinic with me. But Yoba knows she hates that place. As any child does, I suppose."
"It's no problem Marnie," Marlon insisted. "We're always happy to help."
Gil agreed with a silent nod.
"Thank you. Jas, be good okay? I'll be back soon."
"Okay Aunt Marnie," Jas replied with a smile. "Goodbye."
Marnie left the old building with one last smile to Gil and Marlon.
"Mr. Marlon?"
In the few seconds Marlon had been looking towards the door, Jas had made her way to stand right in front of him.
"Yes Jas?"
"Can we play a game?" She asked with wide eyes.
"Sure kid, what were ya thinking?" He inquired, carefully kneeling down closer to her height.
"Hmmmmmm," Jas thought for a minute, seemingly weighing options in her head.
"Oh! I have a game!"
"And what's that?" Marlon inquired.
"Chase!"
Jas sprinted towards the old door, slipping outside and hurrying off down the back mountain paths.
"Jas! Oh Yoba…"
"Good luck!" Gil called with a laugh as Marlon hurried after the young girl.
