I'm slowly forgetting your face

Summary:

“It was for your safety, my star.” Night admitted, brushing hair out of Lunar’s face.

“It's not fair,” Lunar replied, clinging to his shirt.

“I know.” Night sighed, his touch fading away

Work Text:

Lunar huffs as they push the door open, relieving his messy room, trying to ignore the plies of clothes stuffed in the corner and the dirty plates on his desk, he turns the lights on in the dimmed room, noticing his partner inside who was waking up from the bright light beaming into his eyes, “night?” lunar asked before pausing.

“Nighhhhhtttttt’ they whined, entering the room quietly, shutting the door that let out a  loud groan. Taking a step closer to the other waking up male. Night stirred, his middle length hair, now fluffed up like a dog's after being dried.

Night pushed up from the comfortable couch, rubbing the sleep from his . He waved at the other with a soft smile before signing, “hello lulu.”

The moon boy looked beautifully laid out like that, his long almost white blonde hair covering most of his face, and his gorgeous maroon eyes looking down at the tan male made him blush. Lunar couldn't help but admire his partner

Night was stunning, with looks akin to a goddess. His pale skin even if covered in burn scars was glowing, and his eyes were breathtaking. They were a pretty pinkish color that shimmered in the light like a bloodsea but his white long eyelashes lidded his eye. Though under his eyes he always had deep eyebags, most  likely because the male didn't sleep all that much.

Luna loved everything about the other, the way they laughed silently or how they always got protective of him, maybe how his lips were stained a red from how much they ate strawberries. Or how they always tease him. Everything about night was addicting to the shorter.

Lunar whined as they collapsed onto the bed. “Long day?” night signed with a concerned look in his eyes earning a nod from the eclipsed male. Lunar signed and curled up towards the taller male. Night looked down at the shorter male then slowly started carding his hand though the shorter hair, earning a delighted sound from the tan male.

Lunar looked up at the taller male, his long black hair swaying slightly making a pretty sight. The males laid entangled with each other. Night raised his hand to sign, “you know this isn't what happened, right?” night signed quietly, still brushing Lunar's hair.

“Yeah.” Lunar admitted, looking away from the other. “I know.” lunar added solemnly. Lunar gripped the blanket below him. Night's finger that once felt warm and comforting turned cold and fake. “I'm dead, lunar.” Night signed before adding, “you can barely remember what I look like, can you?”

“I.. I remember what you look like.” Lunar said louder than usual, almost trying to convince himself of that. “You have.. Blue eyes? No no theyre not blue.. Was it green?” they question. Gripping the blanket tighter. “Why.” Lunar asked.

“Why what?” Night  questioned, still playing with the shorter hair, thought his hand movements were more robotic now. “Why did you do it? Why did you run out there, you could've lived. But you ran out there. You- you left me.” He growled out, anger bubbling over.

“It was for your safety, my star.” Night admitted, brushing hair out of Lunar’s face.

“It's not fair,” Lunar replied, clinging to his shirt.

“I know.” Night sighed, his touch fading away

“You should wake up, lulu.”

….

Lunar shot up from his deep slumber, blinking the sleep from his eyes. Taking in his surroundings. It's his dirty as hell room still, but something is missing.

Someone's missing.

“Oh.” He mumbles, pushing the blankets off him, remembering what happened, Monty, the bomb, Dazzle, Night.

Lunar swallowed the lump in his throat as he stood up. He's dead. It was just a dream.

Waffles rubbed against his feet, whining. “Hungry, boy?” He asked, trying to sound happier than he was.

Waffles lead him over to his food bowl, whimpering. “Ok ok babes.” lunar mumbles, filling the dog's food bowl up to the brim. Watching as the old dog digs into the food, trying to ignore the lingering thought of the dream.

Lunar tried to ignore the tears pouring down his face, “Nights gone. That goddamn idiot! He got himself killed.” He took a deep breath, hoping to calm down, but the tears kept falling from his eyes.

Waffles perked up from his food at the sound of his owner’s distress, pawing over to him. They crawl into the eclipse male lap, whimpering for his owner’s attention.
