Chapter 1: Take me to your bestfriends house

Chapter Text

Every year Eden Academy sends one class to summer camp. Attending this summer camp was non-negotiable, since it was created to form new friendships and gain more ‘wisdom.’ If you didn't attend, you could receive up to two tonitrus bolts. This year, class 3 of Cecile hall was selected. And everyone knows a bunch of angry 15 year olds trapped in a camp never goes well.

The bus ride up was loud. Kids threw balled up paper at one another, gossiped, argued, and shared snacks. Anya and Becky were seated at the back of the bus, and Becky was angry-braiding Anya’s long hair.

Becky was wearing a newly bought designer shirt, (with shoes worth more than the bus) and denim shorts. Anya was wearing something similar, but nothing designer. She had on a bright yellow shirt, and a denim skirt with black hightops.

The brunette huffed and pulled Anya’s hair. “I cannot believe my luck. I refuse to believe Daddy would let me go to this stupid summer camp!”

Anya yelped. “Ow, okay okay, you're definitely done braiding my hair.” She pulled her hair to the front, and began unbraiding what Becky had done previously.

Becky put her hand on the younger girl's shoulder apologetically. “Im sorry. I just don't want to go to a stinky bug infested summer camp.”

Ewen, Emile and Damian were a seat ahead of the noisy girls, and Damian felt himself flinch at the words ‘bug infested’.

Ewen and Emile both wore a white shirt and black shorts, while Damian had on a striped shirt and denim shorts that went to his knee.

Damian looked the two blondes up and down. “Did you guys plan to match or something?”

“No.” they said simultaneously.

“Me and him had the same outfit on and I told him to change, but he refused!” Emile barked.

Ewen rolled his eyes. “Its just an outfit you big baby!”

“If I’m such a big baby, why are you sitting next to me?”

“I don't know!”

The two crossed their arms and turned away from each other in sync.

And Damian melted into his seat.

This is gonna be a long trip. He thought.

Anya leaped up from her seat and slapped the side of Damians. “Second son!”

Damian whipped around. “What could you possibly want?”

Emile turned around too. “Yeah, we don't want anything to do with your braiding chronicles.”

Anya rolled her eyes. “Do either of you guys have any snacks I could borrow? I'm really hungry.”

Ewen joined into the conversation. “We absolutely do not. If you wanted to be greedy you should’ve brought extra food.”

Damian groaned, dug into his backpack and handed her a mini bag of peanuts. “Now leave us alone, will you?”

Damian turned around. Ewen and Emile looked stunned for a second, but eventually whipped around, also.

Becky loudly gasped. “Anya,” she whispered. “Do you see what just happened?!”

Anya stopped eating the peanuts to stare at Becky. “Uh…no?”

“This is basically episode one of Berlint in love!” Becky squealed.

Anya was stunned. “...How…exactly?”

Becky looked genuinely disappointed. “Do you not see the patterns? He knew exactly what your favorite food was, and in episode one, Derick knew Annabeth loved macaroons!”

“I think everyone knows I love peanuts Becky.”

“But everyone didn't bring them on the trip! Plus I have never seen him eat peanuts in his life. Its obvious he’s in love with —”

The bus hit a bump. Becky yelped, and Anya laughed at her dramatic scream.

“That was not funny!” Becky barked. “What if my makeup flew out of my backpack? Would you buy me more?”

Anya rolled her eyes and laughed harder. “I'm not driving the bus. You should probably talk to the bus driver.”

Becky suddenly found the humor in her blood curdling scream, and began laughing at herself too. “Whatever. What were we talking about?”

Anya shrugged. “I don't remember.”

“Of course you don't."

Mr Henderson's voice boomed from the front of the bus, making the students go silent. “We’ve reached our destination. Please seize your luggage. Boys, if girls cannot reach, be elegant and offer help.”

Every year a different Teacher was assigned to guide the children through summer camp, and every year it was randomly chosen. This year, Mr. Henderson was selected.

After all these years of not having this class, I've been assigned to these ass — ruffigans again. But older, and with odors. He thought.

Anya laughed. Mr. Henderson truly hadn't changed, even after nine years.

Becky and Anya stood up, and reached for their luggage.

Anya stood on her tippy toes and jumped, but she still could not seem to reach her bag. “Becky, can you grab mine?”

She turned around expecting to see Becky, but instead she saw George Glooman.

He gave her a polite smile. “Hey Anya! Do you need some help?”

Anya smiled back, despite being startled. “Definitely. Also, do you know where Becky went?”

He reached up and easily pulled her luggage down. “Shes at the front of the bus. Here you go.”

From the front of the bus, Damian watched. And gritted his teeth when he saw Anya smile at the boy.

Ewen was behind him, and it was pretty obvious who he was staring at. He looked up from his book. “Damian?”

Damian turned towards Ewen. “Yeah? What's up?”

“Do you like Forger?”

Damian froze. And turned red.

“No — I uh, if this is about the peanuts I was just being uhm, nice!”

Ewen laughed and put a reassuring hand on Damian's back. “If you do like her, this trip is probably the perfect chance to figure out if she likes you back.”

The greenette was now the same color as a tomato. “What?!”

“Just saying,” Ewen said, singsongy. “Dont waste your chance.”

And with that, Ewen went back to reading.

Damian felt his heart drop to his ass.

This is gonna be a long trip.
