Canada cautiously knocked on Germany’s door. That was the one downside of his—what should he call him? Friend? Yeah, Friend sounds right—his friend living with the German, he always needed to knock for Germany to let him in. Prussia had told him multiple times that it was okay to just walk in, but to the Canadian, it just felt wrong.
Germany opened the door and nodded at the blonde, moving aside to let him in. Canada gave him a small smile before making his way towards the basement door. He knocked once. Waited a few minutes, and when he was going to knock a second time, he heard running up the stairs.
The door flew open, almost hitting Canada in the face. “Birdie! Sorry it took me a bit. But the awesome me is here now!”
Canada smiled at him, “Well, Prussia, may I come down?”
“Of course! Just make sure that you shut the door behind you. West doesn't like it when I leave it open.”
Canada nodded, closed the door and followed him down the steps. “Why are there lights on the stairs?”
“Oh, those? I’ve tripped on these stairs one too many times, so West installed them. They’re just LED’s so I can even change their colors!” Prussia excitedly said as he ran out of view, seconds later the lights changed from white to a bright green.
Canada soon made his way all the way down the stairs, something that surprised him was how clean it was.
It’s probably because I’m over. People tend to clean before they let guests in.
“So, wanna play that video game I mentioned a little while ago? I finally got my hands on it.” Prussia said, digging through a box near the t.v.
“Sure, why not?”

“Ahhh! Come on!” Prussia exclaimed before looking at Canada, who was cheekily smiling. “How are you so good at this?”
Canada shrugged, “Beginners luck I guess.”
Prussia pouted, “No fair!”
Canada smirked at him and went to grab his cup of water, then frowned when he realized that it was empty, “Want me to get you something to drink? I’m heading upstairs to refill my water.”
“Could you get me another beer?” Prussia began to read the back of the game manual as if it would tell him how to beat the Canadian.
“Sure,” Canada was at the stairs already.
“Thanks, love you.”
They both froze.
Silence.
It was a long and very uncomfortable silence.
“Shit. I didn’t mean to say that.” Prussia whispered once he realized what he said.
“Do you mean it?”
“Yeah, I didn’t mean to say it. It just flew out of my mouth.”
“Not that. The other thing.”
Prussia’s pale skin went beat red. “U-uh… Yeah… It’s stupid. Nevermind. Forget I said anything.”
“No. It’s not stupid. I…” Canada’s voice turned into low mutters.
“What did you say?”
“I said that I feel the same way.” Canada said, squeezing his eyes shut.
He heard Prussia sigh in relief, “Well, uh, wanna go out for dinner sometime?”
“What?” The blonde’s eyes flew open in surprise.
“I mean… I think that would be nice. But… if you don’t want to, we don’t have to.”
“N-no, I’d like that. A lot actually.”
“Okay then!” Prussia’s grin returned.
Canada gave him a small smile, “Wanna help me get some drinks?”
“Sure!” Prussia was quickly by his side, “But, uh, could we keep it a secret for a bit? I don’t want it to be publicized quite yet.”
“Alright,” Canada smiled at him and gently took his hand, “but we will have to tell them, I think France is getting suspicious with how much time I’ve been spending with you.”
Prussia stared at their hands for a bit before playfully rolling his eyes, “Francy-pants? I’ve got him covered, I’ll just tell him that we’ve been playing video games together, not like it’s a lie.”
“Oh ha ha. Now, come on.” And with that. Canada dragged Prussia up the stairs, into the next step in both of their lives.
