Dizzy (and exhausted to the bone)

Summary:

Nico has a flare-up.

...that's pretty much it
(not needed [like at all], but I recommend reading the previous works, they're all of the same AU)

Work Text:

It was a terrible, horrible, no-good, horrendous, bad, bad day. Nico could barely even sit up without an aching pain at his lower spine, or stand up without nearly falling over with the strong vertigo that suddenly overtook him completely, leaving his ears ringing and knees buckling under his weigh.

And so, he didn't. He didn't stand, he didn't sit up, just laid in his bed, staring at the ceiling above until even that started to hurt. It didn't make sense to him, at all. You'd expect not moving wouldn't hurt when moving did. Well, that was wrong apparently.

It must have been at least an hour later, Nico assumed, not knowing the time nor seeing outside to see the sun, but he thought that it must be time for breakfast, or be nearing the end of it.

When Nico tried to get up again a few moments later, he found that the pain had subsided slightly. It was better, so he should go before it turns worse and- oh gods he feels like he just spun around for a minute straight, his vision swimming. But... It didn't hurt much at the very least? That was a win. Positivity.

When Nico got to the door, he realized what he was wearing; a ratty My Chemical Romance t-shirt (where did he even get it, he couldn't remember) and light pink Hello Kitty pajama pants. Welp, he won't try to chance to something else anymore, he's already late. There wasn't even that many campers now, it was only the start of May after all, the Spring holidays would start, at the earliest, for two weeks or so, and even then not everyone would be at the camp.

Bracing himself for the inevitable bright morning light and possible social death, not that his social life wasn't already one foot in the grave, Nico opened his cabin door and stepped out.

He was immediadly flashbanged with brightness. His temples dully throbbed, but Nico paid no mind to the building headache. His back and knee were worse.

Getting to the pavillion, Nico was already exhausted. He walked to the Apollo table, and ignored Will's question, not having heard it fully anyway, and sat down next to him, slouching to minimize the pain.

"-co?" Nico was startled out of his thoughts (wondering if he stabbed himself would the joint pain subside) as Will gently nudged his shoulder. When Nico looked up at his sunny boyfriend, the son of Apollo continued. "Should you eat? You are looking a bit too much like your nicknames, Deathboy."

Nico could tell that that was Will's attempt of making the situation lighter, and he was glad for it, not noticing the tiny smile that crept on his lips. "Yeah, I should," Nico nodded in confirmation, "Can you get me food? Please?"

Will chuckled. "Oh no, not the puppy eyes, I can't resist the urge to follow your wish, how can this be?" Will recited with an over-the-top dramatic villain impression, before true to his word, got Nico his usual breakfast, some toast and a boiled egg.

Nico wasn't hungry. Why was he not hungry, he didn't know, truly didn't. Why didn't he know anything today?

After playing with the remainder of the food for a bit, Nico was getting up to sacrifice it to his father.

He had unfortunately forgotten about the vertigo while chatting with Will, and nearly actually passed out getting up, black spots swimming in his vision. This naturally drew concern from the other, and attention from the campers closest to them.

Will slowly pulled Nico back down, settling a hand on his back and rubbing small circles. Nico couldn't help but to lean into the touch.

"Neeks, I think you should rest for today, you're looking... gray."

Nico didn't know shat Will was talking about. he felt fine- and nevermind. Why did he feel so hot and sweaty all of a sudden, his default temperature is normally under the 'normal range' Oh- wait, Will's saying something. What is he saying, and why can't he make it out?

"I- I can't make it out why can't I make it out it hurts," Nico nearly whimpered, not able to process much any stimulai at the moment.

Will froze at the sound of the younger's distress. Not that Nico noticed though.

It took a while for Nico to return back to the healthy color instead of the ashy gray he was a moment ago, and to get his breathing back under control.

By now the commotion had reached Chiron, whom had not been at the breakfast yet but arrived swiftly to see what was happening, and had gotten the nosy half-bloods to back off.

Will helped Nico to the infirmary, ignoring the worried and conserned glances and questions the other campers and Chiron shot at them.

Nico did not have much energy, and fell in and out of sleep for the rest of the day, barely wanting to open his eyes despite knowing that his boyfriend was next to him, or at the very least close enough to see when he awoke.

He was pretty sure that this amount of fatique wasn't normal anymore, if it ever was, and the last time he had felt like this was when he had used shadow travel after pulling an all nighter without food. It hadn't been his brightest moment if Nico was honest.

It has been nearly a month since the last time he had used shadow travel, so he truly had no idea why he was feeling like this at the moment.

Before Nico knew, he fell asleep again.

It's been a couple days. The haze hasn't gone away, like a weighted blanket of exhaustion and nausea at the thought of getting up or eating laid over him.

He had eaten and gotten up of course, but he just felt like it was too much of a work at the moment. He felt sick, but he wasn't sick, he wasn't coughing nor did he have a fever.

Will had checked his blood pressure and everything, yet he didn't find anything off. Kind of annoying in Nico's opinion. Why feel sick when nothing seemed to be wrong? That's just illogical.

He overheard Will and Kayla talking. Even though Kayla's gift and passion was in archery, she was a fairly decent medic. War does that apparently.

They thought Nico might have something chronic, like a chronic illness or a disability. Nico agrees to disagree, he's very much abled. Don't you have to like, not be able to walk or hear or stuff to be disabled anyway.....

Right?

Notes:

Heya! Yeah Nico is coming to terms with the fact that there might be something bigger behind his symptoms.
