Work Text:

Those who work at the Dawn Winery are up at it's namesake and it's master is no different. Diluc is used to waking up before the sun but he's not sure how he feels when it's in the literal sense. At the ground floor of the winery by the fire place Diluc sees his guest.

Snug in their nest of borrowed blankets and pillows the god of the sun sleeps unaware of the world around them as the Traveler rubs at their eyes on the lounge. The group had been out the night before on a commission and while he had offered them a room they had needed the heat of the fire place to keep themselves from burning out and the Traveler did not wish to leave them alone.

Diluc smooths out his vest as his mind begins to wander. To think that the sun that watches over the land and creates the energy for the vineyard to prosper could be so easily snuffed out. It makes him think for a short moment that perhaps the sun in the sky may be false or at least separate from it's god's control.

It's worrisome and he can feel a bit of a headache coming on as he thinks about how he's become not only aware but acquainted with so many gods in only a year. He greets the Traveler and a sleepy Paimon in their arms offering them breakfast and the bath while they wait for their glowing companion. They leave upstairs to wash up and Diluc sees the god stir in their cocoon.

They sneeze and his head turns to the fire that has dwindled over the night. He's careful as he steps around them to add a few more pieces of wood and drawing power from his vision to relight the fire with a snap of his fingers. It takes a moment but they settle breathing smoothly again the light peeking from where their head is a bit brighter than before.

Diluc's not sure how long he stood there watching them but he snaps to focus when Adelinde calls him asking if she should save a portion for their sleeping guest. She leaves with his nod and he shifts on his feet before shaking his head. He'll let them sleep just a bit longer even if it is strange to be up before the sun.
