“Surprise!”
“By the Seven fucking Gods! I love you so much, Jace!”
Jacaerys laughs. Aegon’s joy can be so pure about the little things! And then, he remembers he comes from a family unit where love isn’t that obvious. A distant father, an emotionally abusive mother, an actually abusive grandfather, gaslighting…
Little surprises or gestures aren’t that obvious for him.
He knows how to give, gives fully even, but he’s not on the receiving end often.
Jacaerys grew up with a father and a mother who cared about each other, who respected each other, who supported one another. And when his father died and his mother remarried Daemon, he grew up seeing a man worshipping his wife. His stepfather isn’t good with words. So he acts and shows.
He buys Rhaenyra flowers just because he thinks she’ll like them.
He brings her her favourite candies when she’s stressed out.
He courts her despite the years of marriage, the pregnancies.
Little surprises or gestures are engraved in Jacaerys’s brain.
“Well, you told me you wanted to play the game.” He says
“Yeah, but… It was sold out!” Aegon stutters
“I pre-ordered it on day one.”
“Jace… marry me.”
The Velaryon laughs.
“I will one day. But first, let’s pop this bad boy in! I want to see if you’re as handy with a controller as with my joystick.”
The Targaryen gasps.
“Resident Evil : Requiem and a sex joke? Jacaerys… I am eternally yours now.”
He already was before. But it’s nice to hear him say so.
