“It was nice seeing you! We should catch up soon!”
Aegon doesn’t say a word. He even smiles. But Jacaerys knows better.
Aegon doesn’t say a word. He even smiles. But Jacaerys knows better. His uncle-boyfriend is jealous. And he cannot say it’s not without cause : it is well known that Cregan Stark was Jacaerys’s first gay panic, the man who made him realize he wasn’t as straight as he thought he was.
Still, it stings.
He has given Aegon no reason to doubt his faithfulness.
He knows it’s not that deep and not against him per se: he gets the same way with his friends. He has abandonment issues, self-esteem issues he disguises under his jokes, traumas… and he actually tries to work on it.
Aegon has a therapist.
Aegon still drinks, but his drinking has reduced quite significantly.
Yet, despite knowing all of this, it stings. It burns even.
“You do know there is nothing you have to fear about Cregan?” He asks
“No, of course not. He’s taller than me, he has his life in order…”
“Aeg…”
“And he’s handsome, so no wonder and…”
“And he’s straight.”
The Targaryen looks at him, confused.
“He what?”
“Cregan is straight.” Jacaerys repeats
“Yeah, right.”
“He is! Years ago, I actually asked him out!”
“You did what?!”
“I confessed my crush on him and asked him on a date. He told me he was flattered, but he couldn’t love me the way I loved him because he is straight. Friendly dates, he was okay with. But that was all he could give me. Heck, I was his best man at his wedding!”
“Fuck…”
“Yeah… I’m his son’s honorary uncle. Besides, even if he came out one day, which he won’t, you’re the one I’m with! You’re the one I love! So stop it, your skin will turn green.”
Aegon doesn’t apologize. But he takes Jace’s hand into his own and kisses his knuckles.
“You know… He’s kinda hot. I get why he was your gay panic.” He tries to joke, his voice shaky
“Who was your gay panic?”
“Martyn.”
“Wha…”
“But he turned me down because he was already going out with Leon. Leon simply said I had great taste.”
Jacaerys has a question in mind, but he doesn’t ask it : Aegon’s past sexual life is none of his concern!
