Work Text:
It wasn’t supposed to be like this.
Bad fiddled with the ring in his hand. He was planning on proposing in a few days. Then Skeppy got mad at him.
Bad felt like his boyfriend was holding him back, just a little. Skeppy was stuck in the youtube grind, while Bad wanted to start other projects. He’d still do youtube, just less often.
The breaking point was when Bad wanted to move closer to the office of a company he’d been offered a job in.
Skeppy was pissed, he didn’t want Bad to leave.
“i don’t want to hold you back,” he said, “but can’t you find somewhere closer?”
No, actually. He couldn’t.
This job was very high up, especially for a streamer like Bad. He couldn’t just turn it down.
They had been arguing about it for weeks, each argument getting uglier and uglier until one day,
“Maybe we should break up.”
Bad’s heart froze. The world stopped. Skeppy continued
“Clearly, we both want different things.”
Now, Skeppy was back with his parents for the time being, and Bad was alone.
Alone.
He’d cried a lot since then. He was so upset- they’d been together for years- YEARS! Almost six. Skeppy was his boy. He was gonna propose and…
dang it.
He heard himself sob, and suddenly realized that he couldn’t breathe. Tears ran down his face, and he desperately tried to wipe them.
Even though no one was there, he couldn’t be this weak.
Skeppy POV
He’d been lacking in his streams, and people were constantly asking about his mental health.
He’d announced the breakup the same day it happened, and he just felt hollow from then on.
“alright chat” He said, his voice was flat and dull, “i’m going to bed.”
He closed the stream and got in bed. He stared at the ceiling. Fuck. He was so cold, despite having 3 blankets over him.
He missed Bad’s warmth.
He shouldn’t have done it. Why did he get so pissy, anyway? He knew this was a good thing and nothing would change- they’ve been long distance before, and honestly he probably didn’t need to do that either he could’ve just moved with him.
So many excuses.
Not enough money, time, he didn’t need the job, blah blah blah.
Most of it wasn’t true.
Skeppy buried his face in his hands and realized his cheeks were damp.
He was just scared of change.
He didn’t want things to be different. He didn’t want to play less minecraft with his boy, he didn’t want to not see him all day, he didn’t want to move, he didn’t want all these things.
He was being unreasonable and dumb.
And now it was over.
Bad’s POV
He was doing something stupid.
Bad packed a duffel bag and got in his car.
What the muffins was he doing?
He drove down a lot of streets. It was several hours, why was he doing this? He was on autopilot for most of it. He didn’t realize what he’d done until he was outside Skeppy’s house, and knocking on the door. Skeppy’s car was the only one in the driveway, so his parents weren’t home.
Skeppy POV
he sobbed and felt sorry for himself for a good while until he heard a knock on the door. Did mom forget her keys again?
He cleaned himself up, but couldn’t get the red out of his eyes as he walked to the living room and opened the door.
Fuck.
A familiar face was staring back at him.
“Bad..?” He said quietly.
“Hey..” Bad looked embarrassed.
“This was kind of a bad idea.. but… i missed you..”
Skeppy just looked at him, a little dumbfounded. Then he chuckled.
“i can see that.”
A pause. Skeppy opened his mouth again.
“Did you really drive 7 hours on impulse?”
The brunette smiled sheepishly, blushing.
“Just for you.”
They both giggled awkwardly.
“Why don’t you come in?”
They sat in Skeppy’s room in silence.
“Bad, i’m really sorry.” Skeppy felt like he was gonna cry again. “i really shouldn’t have said anything. i was being dumb.”
“i get it.” It was Bad’s turn to choke up. “But i shouldn’t have said some of the things i said.”
More silence.
“Bad..?”
“mhm?”
“Can we get back together..?”
The brunette sighed, looking at Skeppy.
“i was hoping you’d ask.”
Neither one in particular POV
More talking, which became laughing, which became cuddling and kissing.
They’d tweeted about getting back together almost immediately. The internet rejoiced, and so did they. Both of their phones were constantly pinging until they went on silent.
Skeppy lay on top of Bad, half asleep. His arms were around Bad with his head shoved under his chin.
Bad looked down and buried his face in Skeppy’s hair, taking in the scent of his shampoo.
They stayed that way for a good while.
Skeppy woke up in the morning, still on top of Bad, who had one arm around Skeppy, and his phone in the other hand open to instagram.
He smiled when his boy shifted.
“finally awake, muffinhead?”
“mmmmaybe…” Skeppy mumbled, his eyes still half open.
“You still talk in your sleep.” Bad said with a chuckle.
“Heyyy..”
“And drool.”
“Stahpp..”
“Well we kinda gotta get up. It’s 11:30 already.”
“ughhh..”
They got up and started morning routines before making breakfast. Skeppy’s parents were at work now, no worries there.
It was like nothing ever happened.
Skeppy poured some more batter into the pan.
“i’m telling you, waffles are better!” Bad whined.
“i’m not saying they’re worse, today’s just a pancake day.” Skeppy looked over to catch his boyfriend pouring some chocolate chips into his hand. “Hey! Those are for the pancakes!”
He half-assedly tackled Bad, not wanting to make too much of a mess in the kitchen, but not before Bad shoved the handful of chocolate into his mouth.
“Dude!”
“mmph-!”
Skeppy laughed, and Bad joined in once he swallowed.
They continued to cook, and after they were done eating the boys stood in the kitchen, Skeppy was washing the dishes, much to Bad’s dismay (he just wanted to help D: )
He sat on the counter just as Skeppy was finishing.
“i like this.”
“hm?” Skeppy looked over, drying his hands on a kitchen towel.
“This-“ Bad gestured around him. “i missed being with you.” and in a quieter tone, “and eating your chocolate chips.”
That got a laugh out of Skeppy.
“Yeah, i missed it too.”
He walked over and kissed Bad tenderly, though he had to stand on his tiptoes to do so, since Bad was still on the counter.
The sunlight peeking through the curtain, the smell of pancakes still lingering in the room, the two boys kissing- it was perfect.
And two months later, it was almost forgotten. Skeppy moved back in with Bad- who found out that soon after the job offer, the CEO of said company was outed as a pedo, and refused to work there. Of course, they couldn’t just completely forget something that almost ended it all, but it was as forgotten as it could be.
Then one day…
Bad had asked Skeppy on a date, simple. Wander around the city, get lunch, walk around, chill.
Simple.
Until he brought Skeppy to a quiet park, and into an even quieter corner of it. No one was there, and they were surrounded by trees.
“Bad, what are we doing?” Skeppy asked, confused.
“Nothin..”
Bad was nervous as hell, but figured Skeppy wouldn’t mind this setup.
They were both so used to everything being seen by everyone, being on the internet and all.
“i wanted to ask you something..”
Skeppy could already tell where this was going, just with those six words, but he didn’t really accept it as real.
“yeah.?”
And with that, his boyfriend got on one knee…
is this heaven?
