The video opens with a rather ordinary looking girl sitting on a couch. She is wearing an NRC uniform but has no armband, and she is looking off camera.
(???): Is it recording?
Three thumbs up emojis (👍) briefly appear at the bottom of the screen. The girl smiles and waves brightly at the camera with both hands.
Text appears at the bottom right corner of the screen with a background of gray: Yuu,a first year, Prefect of Ramshackle Dorm
Yuu: I’m a little nervous now that I’m actually doing it but it's too late to back out.
A sweat dropping emoji (😅) briefly appears over her head. She clears her throat.
Yuu: So, uhm, hello everyone! My name is Yuu, and I’m the prefect of the Ramshackle dormitory. It's technically not an official dorm of NRC but I am enrolled here under special circumstances.
Yuu's smile grows a little strained and she coughs into her fist and smiles brightly again.
Yuu: But anyways, under the request of our… illustrious headmage — I, and a few other people — will be introducing you to NRC! We are aware NRC tends to have a… reputation so to speak.
Sparkle emojis (✨) alongside the word ‘reputation’ appear in bold.
Yuu: So we are going to show you around, answer a few questions and clear the air! … Or prove you right, that's still left to be seen
Text appears at the bottom of the screen. “What is NRC?”
Yuu: So if you weren't aware, Night Raven College, colloquially known as NRC, is a prestigious four-year arcane academy. Its doors are only open to students deemed to possess magical aptitude as determined by a magical artifact called the Dark Mirror.
Yuu: Students here are trained in various disciplines — the college has produced many outstanding mages in various fields. From researchers, to potion masters, to Spelldrive players.
As Yuu speaks, various people flash through the screen, NRC graduates who have made names for themselves. The video again focuses on Yuu.
Yuu: The first three years in NRC are strictly school based, with both theoretical and practical classes honing a student's skills. And finally, in their fourth year, students are distributed to various areas and fields aligned with their prospective career for an internship. Students can either stay in one site for the duration of the school year or they can take up to three different internships with each lasting for three months.
Yuu: Student's internship site options will vary depending on the individual's electives, class credits, and grades. Some internships require special technical exams and/or interviews. It is also possible that some internship sites will scout desired students in advance — so if you have the chance to enroll here, you should have a clear idea of what you want for your future by your second year so you can start working for the required units.

Yuu: Yes, I am indeed quoting the official website and I know that's a lot to take in. So instead of that let's talk about things that aren't on the NRC website! Now, everyone knows about the seven dorms of NRC but there's a little bit more to it.
An emoji of a ghost (👻) appears on the screen and enlarges until only gray is seen. The emoji slowly gets smaller and when it is gone, Yuu is no longer on the couch but rather standing outside —- behind her are several statues.
Yuu: So we have left my humble abode and we are now standing on the part of campus known as Main Street. Here, we have the statues of the people of which the seven dormitories are based off, some of them will no doubt be familiar depending where you live but I’ll be introducing them all anyways.
Yuu then goes to the first statue, introducing them and their achievements before moving on to the next one. Yuu does this for all seven and finally ends with the Thorn Fairy.
Yuu: Now that that's over with, it's time for a tour! So, for security purposes — I will not be giving a tour of the whole campus. But I have been given permission by the housewardens to show the dorms! And while we walk, I finally address some of the questions we’ve seen floating around
The camera follows Yuu as she begins to walk, and exactly as she says — she answers questions. Text appears at the bottom of the screen. “How is it decided what dorm you go? Is it based on where you're from or what species you are?”
The girl giggles
Yuu: Nope! I’ve learned from your comments that this is a common misconception. What dormitory you're sorted into is decided by the Dark Mirror, the same artifact that decides who gets invited into NRC. The mirror takes a look at your soul and sorts you based on what trait you most embody, as each dorm has a different characteristic. For example, Savannaclaw, based on the King of Beasts spirit of persistence. While the dorm hosts many beastmen and athletic students — it's not being a beastman or being good at sports that places you here, it's continuing to strive for a goal despite failures.
Yuu: I was talking to Professor Trein about this the other week actually —
A picture appears at the side of a tall elderly man with small grey eyes and greying, neatly combed-back hair. He wears a standard black suit beneath long maroon robes. Attached to his collar is a white jabot, which is tied off with a turquoise-colored pendant.
Captions appear underneath the picture: ‘Mozus Trein’ and in smaller text underneath ‘teaches the school's social studies curriculum, including the history of magic. NRC Alumni’
The picture and captions both disappear.
Yuu: And he said that most likely, students from certain regions end up in certain dormitories due to a mixture of culture and history. Like for example, students in Octavinelle are typically mers because the dormitory is based off of the Sea Witch — a greatly admired figure among mer society. Thus her values are what are being imparted in mers. But of course it always boils down to the question of nature vs nurture.
Yuu: Well professor said a lot more but I’m simplifying it to that.
Yuu continues walking until she reaches a building and walks in. Inside, there are 7 different mirrors underneath different banners with one large mirror underneath a banner depicting the NRC logo. Captions appear on the bottom of the video ‘Mirror Chamber’
Yuu: So if you weren't aware, the seven dorms of NRC aren't actually on campus. The dorms exist in pocket dimensions that are connected to the main campus via mirror portals.
She gestures at the mirrors.
Yuu: These portals are extremely stable, don't worry, it's impossible for it to collapse and leave you stranded in the pocket dimension. Although fun fact, the headmaster or the housewardens — in cases of emergency — have the ability to ‘lock’ the portals so to speak to prevent intruders from coming into the dorms.
Yuu grins, practically bouncing over to one of the mirrors — specifically the one underneath a royal purple banner and in the middle is a deep blue shield topped with a pointed golden crown. The center features a silver dagger piercing a skull-faced poisoned apple, surrounded by tiny stars and crescent moons. The name "Pomefiore" is written near the top in a cursive script.
Yuu: Now speaking of dorms, we're about to enter the first and oldest dormitory: Pomefiore, the dorm based on the spirit of tenacity of the Fairest Queen!
Yuu enters the mirror and the camera follows. Soon, Yuu steps out into a well kept courtyard. In the distance, you could see a tall, beautiful white castle with purple rooftops and there is also a grove of apple trees with beautiful, delicious looking red apples.
Yuu: Welcome to Pomefiore! We are now at the entrance and as you can see in the distance, that's the dorm building! Yes, students do in fact live in a castle. And that grove over there are magical plants — they are maintained by the students and the apples can apparently be used in a special spell.
Text appears at the bottom, the word ‘special’ in bold followed by a two thinking emojis, one with a monocle (🧐) and the other with its hand on its chin (🤔).
(???): Oh la la, what do we have here? Monsieur Trickster?
The previous text fades.
Yuu visibly perks up at the mystery person speaking from off the camera. She waves with a wide grin.
Yuu: Rook-senpai!
A man with blonde hair in a bob cut and straight cut bangs, wearing the Pomefiore dorm uniform and a wide-brimmed hat with a large feather on top appears on camera. He waves at Yuu, then at the camera.
Rook: Bonjour ~
Text appears under him ‘Rook Hunt, third year, vice-housewarden of Pomefiore’
Rook: I see you are already starting the video headmage had asked of you
Yuu: Yup! It's perfect timing that I ran into you actually, do you know where Vil is? I’m going to be asking the housewardens questions for the video. Well, I’ll be asking just half of them first — I think doing a whole tour would make the video too long.
Rook: Roi des Poison is inside the building, he is doing consultations at the moment so you may have to wait for a few minutes before being seen to!
Rook and Yuu then start walking, heading to the castle.
Yuu: I don't mind, actually while we walk why don't you explain a little more about Pomefiore dorm life and Vil specifically.
Rook very visibly brightens. Captions appear over his head ‘Loves to talk about Vil. Seriously. Is part of multiple Vil fan clubs’
Rook: Beaute! I am more than happy to talk about beautiful Vil!
A sweat dropping emoji (😅) appears over Yuu's head as she realizes her mistake, so she tries to backtrack. Text appears next to Yuu with an arrow pointing at her ‘Has listened to Rook talk about Vil for 2 hours straight. 5 times’
Yuu: Let's start first with the dorm! Like why don't you explain the design of the dorm first before talking about Vil.
The deflection thankfully works and Rook starts pointing out various aspects of the Pomefiore dorm. Explaining how certain items were actually a reference to the Fairest Queen and how the dorm was modeled after the Fairest Queen’s home.
Rook also mentioned that while there are cleaning spells active, the Pomefiore students also personally clean the dorm themselves - well all dorms do but Pomefiore does it most often.
Rook: To a Pomefiore student, everything has the potential to be better, more perfect, more pristine. When everything in their world, from the people to the environment, becomes better, then the people within it will be happier and healthier both in body and mind.
Yuu: Which is why you guys clean the dorm often?
Rook: C’est ça!
Translation shows up on the screen ‘that’s it!’
Yuu: Hmmm — I have an idea! Rook, could you as vice-housewarden tell me about what makes a Pomefiore student, well — suited for Pomefiore.
Rook tilted his head at Yuu.
Yuu: Well, to give a little context one of the things I was talking about with them —

Yuu: Is how students are sorted into dorms, and I kinda touched on how students are sorted by the Dark Mirror based on your soul and the traits you have. So
Yuu trailed off, looking meaningfully at Rook.
Rook: Ah, you wish for me to elaborate on what traits those sorted into the dorm of the Fairest Queen embody. But of course!
Rook clears his throat, pointing playfully at the camera like someone about to give a lecture.
Rook: Pomefiore is based on the tenacity of the Fairest Queen. What this means is students in Pomefiore values relentless self-improvement and the pursuit of one’s ideal self. We take pride in our heritage, talents, and accomplishments, believing that perfection is attainable in unique ways for each individual. While we acknowledge that absolute perfection can never be reached, we dedicate ourselves to constant refinement and daily upkeep to avoid decline, making tireless effort toward lifelong self-betterment.
Yuu: So Pomefiore philosophy is basically striving for excellence while recognizing the endless nature of the journey?
Rook: Beaute! Bravo! 100 points!!! Monsieur Trickster you said it eloquently and beautifully!
Yuu and Rook have now arrived at what looks like a throne room, as at the end of the hall is a throne with peacock feathers on a dais. Vil sits at the throne and in front of Vil are two students whose faces are blurred.
Vil: That is all, you may go now.
Pomefiore Student A: Thank you housewarden!
Pomefiore Student B: Thank you our Queen.
Rook and Yuu step aside to allow the students to leave, leaving only Yuu, Rook and Vil in the room. Rook and Yuu continue walking to stand in front of Vil's throne.
The camera focuses on Vil. Text appears on the bottom of the video ‘Vil Schoenheit, third year, housewarden of Pomefiore’
Then in smaller text beneath ‘did I even need to introduce him??’
Bowing emojis (🙇🙇🙇) also appear at the bottom of the screen.
Rook takes off his hat and holds it over his heart, bowing his head. Yuu just smiles.
Rook: Ah beautiful Vil you are as radiant as ever! I see the beautiful servants have been blessed with your guidance.
Yuu: Hi Vil!
Vil smiles at them both until he notices the camera. Then he frowns.
Vil: Spudling, could you not have given me advanced notice before coming to film? I am not presentable at the moment.
Question marks (⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️) fill the space beside Vil, as if asking: how are you ‘not presentable!?’
Rook: Mon roi —
Yuu slaps Rook's arm, stopping the blonde from speaking.
Yuu: I am cutting you there because if I let you speak we will be here for hours and I have other dorms to show.
Yuu then refocuses on Vil, who has pulled a hand mirror out of nowhere.
Yuu: Vil you could be in rags and still look effortlessly better than most of the population, and you look perfect right now.
Vil: Potato you know as well as I do that perfection cannot be achieved without effort.
Yuu smiles, and a lightbulb (💡) emoji appears over her head.
Yuu: Wait before you lecture me, Vil — could you answer two of the questions I was meant to ask?
Vil raised one fine eyebrow. Text appears over Vil’s head ‘I know what you are doing but I am letting it pass, for now’ He sighs and clears his throat, one finely polished nail tapping on the arm of his throne.
Vil: Very well little spudling, what did you wish to ask?
Yuu: First, what is a housewarden? Like people get the general idea that a housewarden is a student leader but aside from that, well
Vil takes a moment to mull over the question, one fine nail tapping on his throne. Finally he spoke. His voice was smooth, articulate, and carried the weight of someone who took his role very seriously.
Vil: A housewarden is the pinnacle of their dormitory. We are not merely leaders — we are standards. We set the tone for what our students should aspire to be. In my case, that means pursuing beauty both inside and out, discipline, and the relentless refinement of oneself.
Vil paused before adding.
Vil: To be a housewarden means carrying responsibility on your shoulders at all times. We oversee academic excellence, personal development of our students, and the upholding of our dorm’s values. We correct flaws, nurture potential, and in my case — ensure that every student under my care is polished in appearance and in character and demeanor.
A heart eyed emoji (😍) appeared over Rook's head as he clapped.
Rook: Beaute! Absolutely stunning how you said it mon roi!
Yuu smiled as well and she brought out her phone and the camera could just slightly see she had opened her notes app.
Yuu: Thanks Vil! Now, I have another question for you — It's about dorm transfers, some people online were curious if students were allowed to transfer dorms.
Vil: Students are allowed to transfer dorms but it is not as simple as packing up your things and moving to another dorm. There are proper procedures to be followed.
Vil holds up his pointer finger.
Vil: First, you must write a formal letter requesting transfer of dorms, it must be signed and approved by both your current housewarden and the housewarden of the dorm you wish to transfer into. That is the first step of the process, now, Rook?
Rook: Understood my queen! After gaining the approval of both housewardens, one may now stay in the dorm of their choosing for two weeks
Yuu tilted her head, and a puppy emoji (🐶) appeared over her head.
Yuu: Two weeks?
Vil: An assessment period. I’m sure you're aware prefect but each dorm has its own unique… culture — so to speak. The two weeks are meant for the student to see if they can withstand the dorm they wish to enter. The housewarden would also typically be keeping close watch over the hopeful transfer to assess if the student is fit for the dorm.
Vil: Students attempting to transfer aren't actually rare, the faculty mentioned there are at least a handful every year — especially among freshmen who aren't content with their placement. However, most transfers are rarely successful.
Rook: Oui! After all, the Dark Mirror decides placements based on the shape of one's soul. A leopard that changes its spots remains a leopard does it not?
Vil: There are a few successes, but they are the exception not the rule. Rook being one of them.
An arrow points at Rook and text appears connected to the arrow. ‘Was formerly in Savannaclaw’
Rook: It was not an easy transition, I sought out help from Professor Crewel in understanding the mindset of a Pomefiore student. The lessons were as difficult as getting Roi des Lions to agree to my transfer.

Yuu: Leona was against the transfer?
Rook: Oui, although it had nothing to do with personal attachment. Simply that the paperwork for final dorm transfers are … tedious.
A look of understanding passed over Yuu's face. But it quickly cleared up and she turned back to the camera.
Yuu: Well thank you for entertaining me guys! I’ll be heading over to the other dorms — I’m going to be interviewing the other housewardens.
Vil and Rook waved goodbye at the camera. An apple emoji (🍎) appeared in the middle of the screen and slowly grew larger until only red filled the screen. The emoji then grew smaller and showed Yuu was back in the Mirror Chamber, now standing in front of the mirror under the banner with a crest framed by prominent, curved black dragon horns at the top and surrounded by a border of thorny black vines. The center features the silhouette of a walking dragon on a beige background, with a vibrant green banner reading "DIASOMNIA" stretched across the bottom.
Yuu: Now, we're going to head over to another pocket dimension. This time, our destination is Diasomnia, the dorm inspired by the Thorn Fairy’s spirit of nobility! We’re going to be looking for Malleus, but interviewing Rook gave me an idea so we’ll also be looking for Lilia-senpai.
Yuu steps through the mirror portal and soon Diasomnia was revealed. It's a dramatic contrast to Pomefiore, with darkened skies and a black castle in the distance. The gothic architecture loomed dramatically against the misty backdrop, thorny vines curling around ancient stone towers.
Yuu: Now, you can really see that each dorm is very different from each other! We’re not just talking about the culture of each dorm, but the aesthetic and even weather of the dormitory differs from each other.
Yuu starts walking and the camera follows along. Yuu starts pointing out the plants which are thorny vines, and explains that they are magical plants that doubles as the dorm's defense.
The camera suddenly jolts as out of nowhere, a face appears very close to the camera. It is a fae with red eyes and dark black hair streaked with hot pink, two tufts extending from the top like bat ears.
(???): Boo!
Startled emojis (😱😱😱) alongside the words ‘jump scare!?’ appear at the bottom of the screen.
Yuu turns around and smiles at the fae, who backs up enough to allow the camera to catch them completely. The fae is floating mid air, casually lounging like gravity is a suggestion as he smiles at Yuu.
Yuu: Lilia-senpai! Hello! Just the person I wanted to see.
Text appears beneath the floating fae. ‘Lilia Vanrouge, third year, vice-housewarden of Diasomnia’
Lilia: Hello prefect, I hope you don't mind that I gave your viewers a little scare
Yuu: I don't mind, I’ll be sure to ask the students editing the video to please keep it in the final cut. I’m sure they also won't mind.
Text appears at the bottom of the screen ‘We mind!’
Lilia: How wonderful! Getting a little shock to make the heart pump is good every now and then. Now, may I ask what you are doing prefect?
Yuu goes on to explain what she is doing and at the end Lilia nods and settles on the ground.
Lilia: I assume then that you will want to see Malleus then?
Yuu: Yes please! Is he around?
Lilia: Yes, your timing is very fortunate actually — Silver and Sebek had just managed to locate him. He's in the common room at the moment.
Two pictures appear on screen. One is of a silver haired teen — captions underneath declare him as ‘Silver Vanrouge’. The other is a teen with some fae features and green hair — his captions indicate his name is ‘Sebek Zigvolt’.
Text appears over both ‘Malleus’ knights and retainers’
Yuu: Score! I thought I would have to call one of the housewardens to get him.
A pause icon appears on the screen and the scene freezes. Text appears
‘Yuu NRC Fun Fact!
Malleus likes to wander and sometimes loses track of time — and his phone, making it hard to find the fae. The housewardens have developed a system that allows them to locate Malleus, but only the housewardens know the system. For NRC students if you are in need of Malleus for whatever reason and cannot find him, please just ask one of the other housewardens’
The text fades video resumes. Yuu and Lilia are now walking towards the dark castle, Lilia sharing tidbits about the similarities of the Diasomnia dorm pocket dimension with Briar Valley.
Yuu: Oh right! There was something I wanted to ask you Lilia! As vice-housewarden of the dorm, what can you say makes a student Diasomnia quality?
Lilia grinned at the question, fangs peeking out with how wide his mouth stretched.
Lilia: Oh I like that question!
Lilia started floating again, one hand tapping thoughtfully at his lip.
Lilia: So I’m sure you already mentioned that Diasomnia is based on the Thorn Fairy's spirit of nobility, and what this means is that Diasomnia emphasizes refinement and mastery of innate talents. While many students are naturally gifted, true value lies in how we cultivate and perfect those abilities. Our focus is less on broad personal growth and more on disciplined training to achieve excellence in their chosen fields. Diasomnians uphold elegance, confidence, and composure in all circumstances, guided by a code of chivalry and courtliness that ensures we treat peers with the same regal dignity we ourselves embody.
Yuu: So basically, nobility is upheld by discipline and skill refinement?
The fae made a see-saw motion with his hand.
Lilia: More or less
Finally, the pair reach the entrance of the castle. They cross the bridge over the boat and enter. The interior was breathtaking: high vaulted ceilings, floating green flames in ornate candelabras, and suits of armor that seemed to watch passersby.
Students wave at the pair as they walk and Lilia points out the little homages that Diasomnia have as a nod to the Thorn Fairy.
Lilia and Yuu arrive at the Diasomnia common room, where as Lilia mentioned earlier — Malleus could be found. He is seated comfortably in front of the fire on an armchair, a book on his lap. Captions appear over his head ‘Malleus Draconia, third year, housewarden of Diasomnia’
The dragon fae looks up and smiles at Yuu and Lilia, and by extension the camera. Small heart eyed emojis (😍) appear discreetly at the bottom of the screen.
Malleus: Hello Child of Man, I’m glad to see you so hale
Yuu: Heya Hornton!! I’m going around showing the internet around NRC.
Malleus looks straight at the camera this time and gives a slight inclination of his head.
Malleus: Good afternoon internet, how do you do?
Yuu and Lilia both chuckle, and Malleus shifts his attention to them.
Yuu: Anyways, mind if I interview you for the video?
Malleus put aside his book and turned fully to the girl and to Lilia
Malleus: I would be honored, Child of Man. Ask me anything
Yuu positioned herself beside him, Lilia floating off camera with one last wave.
Yuu: Alright, first question, what is a housewarden, and what do you actually do?
Malleus straightened slightly, slipping naturally into a regal but approachable tone.
Malleus: A housewarden is the leader of their respective dormitory. We are chosen based on strength, capability, and — in the case of Diasomnia — magical prowess. Each of us oversees the students in our dorm, maintains order, organizes events, and represents our dormitory in school-wide matters.
Malleus: For me, that means in Diasomnia, I ensure that our students uphold the values of nobility, loyalty, and excellence. Housewardens handle internal disputes, plan celebrations, and work closely with the other housewardens during joint meetings
Yuu grinned.
Yuu: So you’re basically the kings of your dorms?
Malleus chuckled, the sound low and warm.
Malleus: In a sense. Though people should not forget that the position comes with significant responsibilities — academic oversight, disciplinary actions, and representing our dorm during events like the Interdorm Magical Shift tournaments. It is both an honor and a heavy burden.
Yuu gave Malleus a thumbs up then opened her phone, presumably to her notes app. The girl then says something that gets covered up by chirping noises.
Malleus tilts his head curiously.
Yuu: I forgot! I already asked Vil that question!
Lilia from off camera: Well you can still keep it, it would be interesting to hear the different perspectives.
Yuu: True, but I do have another question for you Hornton! How does one become a housewarden?
Malleus: There are three main ways to become a housewarden. The first is the simplest: getting chosen as housewarden by the former housewarden. That is the case for Azul, Idia and Kalim.
As Malleus spoke text saying ‘Category 1’ appeared beside him and chibi heads of Azul, Idia and Kalim appeared. Chibi Kalim was smiling brightly. Chibi Azul was smirking. Chibi Idia had a hood obscuring his face.
Malleus: The second manner is to defeat the current housewarden in a sanctioned duel that must be witnessed by the headmaster or another housewarden. That is how I, Leona and Riddle all became housewardens.
The words ‘Category 2’ appeared beneath the chibi heads, and chibi heads of Malleus, Leona and Riddle appeared in Category 2. Chibi Malleus was just smiling neutrally. Chibi Leona was yawning. Chibi Riddle was also looking neutral.
Lilia appeared on camera again with a chuckle, still floating although upside down now.
Lilia: All three of your challenges were very iconic and set NRC records.
Yuu: Oh? They did?
Lilia grinned and right himself, easily settling down on the floor.
Lilia: Indeed! When Malleus challenged the previous housewarden, he gave up immediately!
Text appears on the bottom of the screen. ‘Well, when your opponent is Malleus Draconia…’ followed by three sweatdropping emojis ‘😅😅😅’.
Lilia: Leona set the record for fastest duel. I felt like I just blinked and it was over! Leona hadn't even moved a step!
Yuu: Wait you were present for Leona's duel?
Lilia: I was! See, if rumors were right, Leona hadn't actually wanted to be housewarden — but his dorm mates begged him to become housewarden. I wanted to see the match so I snuck in to Savannaclaw.
Yuu: Sounds about right for Leona. I think I know the record Riddle set, youngest ever isn't it?
Lilia: Correct! Imagine the shockwaves it sent throughout the school when students heard about it. A first year challenging the housewarden, a third year, within the first week of school and winning in a time just a hair's breadth over Leona's.
Malleus suddenly smiled and chuckled.
Malleus: I remember the first time I met Riddle as a housewarden, it is amusing now that I recall.
Lilia and Yuu both turned to Malleus.
Lilia: Malleus! You never told me this story!
Malleus shrugs.
Malleus: It never came up. I do not recall the exact time, but I believe it was rather recent to Riddle becoming housewarden. I had been passing by the courtyard and Riddle had spotted me. He confirmed my identity as housewarden of Diasomnia and asked me to serve as a witness — assuring me it would take but a moment. There were a few challengers that wished to duel him for the title and he wished to duel them all at once as he had things that required his attention.
Yuu: So that was your first meeting? What was your first impression?
Malleus: I was deeply amused. Not only did he approach me so fearlessly, he is also petite and looks like a porcelain doll. And yet, he wanted to take on 20 opponents, most of them third years.
Yuu and Lilia: 20!? At once!?
Questioning exclamation points (⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️) also appeared around them
Malleus: Yes. I was sure he would lose, and yet he proved me wrong. He did exactly as he said and defeated the challengers but moments after the mirror shattered on the ground.
Yuu looked like she wanted to say something, but glanced at the camera.
Yuu: Oh right, we're still filming. Malleus we’re definitely going back to that conversation. Anyways, that's two ways. What's the third?
The previous text with the categories and the chibis appeared beside Malleus once more.
Malleus: The last way to become a housewarden is the assessment. Although this is rare as it only happens when a housewarden has no chosen successors by the end of the year. Each dorm has a manner of assessing their students, and each dorm's test is unique from each other. Vil falls into this category.
‘Category 3’ appears beneath chibi Riddle, Malleus and Leona. A chibi head of Vil with sparkles appears in Category 3.
Malleus: I believe to claim the title, Pomefiore housewarden hopefuls had to brew poison. The one with the most potent poison becomes housewarden, Vil’s poison was so powerful even Professor Crewel was impressed.
There's the sound of a record scratch and the video pauses. The scene gets grayscaled and it transitions to the scene with Yuu from earlier.
Yuu: We are aware NRC tends to have a… reputation so to speak. So we are going to show you around, answer a few questions and clear the air! (Or prove you right, that's still left to be seen)
The scene repeats again, but this time in slo-mo and it focuses on the sparkle (✨) emojis alongside the word ‘reputation’ appear in bold.
Sweat dropping emojis (😅😅😅) appear at the bottom with the words ‘we’re not helping our case are we?’
The video resumes as normal.
Yuu: Thanks Hornton! I’ll be going now since I still have to interview one more dorm for part 1!
Malleus and Lilia both look at the camera. Lilia waves cheerfully and Malleus just nods. The emoji of a dragon (🐉) shows up in the middle of the screen and grows larger until the whole screen is one color. It then grows smaller and shows Yuu is once again back in the mirror chamber.
Yuu: We’re back!! Again! Okay, that's it - for the next video we are skipping this part and I’m just going to be in the dorms immediately. That cool with you?
Thumbs up emojis (👍 ) appear at the bottom of the screen.
Yuu: Alright, last dorm for the video!
Yuu is now standing in front of the mirror under the banner with a large playing-card-style heart divided vertically into red and black halves. The red side features a diamond pattern, and a row of small card suits (spade, heart, diamond, club) sits across the middle. A golden crown rests at the top, and a banner reading "HEARTSLABYUL" wraps across the bottom.
Yuu dives into the mirror and the camera follows. Once again the dorm is complete contrast to the one before it. What greets the camera are long rows of hedges, all of them blooming with perfect roses. The sky above is a beautiful blue, and fluffy white clouds dot the sky line.
Yuu: Welcome to Heartslabyul! This is the second oldest dorm, and it is based on the Queen of Hearts' spirit of strictness!
Yuu started walking on the stone path, obviously very familiar with the space.
Yuu: I won't lie, this is like my favorite dorm to visit. Partially because my best friends are here, but also because well — this is the only dorm with animals you can play with!
Yuu's eyes were sparkling as she turned to the camera.
Yuu: Ok like, Scarabia has animals like elephants and camels but those are Kalim's animals not really Scarabia's. Plus, I’m kinda scared to interact with them. And Octavinelle has lots of fish but well, they're… fish. So I can't really play with them.
Yuu: But!!! Heartslabyul has hedgehogs, flamingoes and dorm mice! I’m not officially a part of Heartslabyul but Riddle still lets me play with and help take care of the animals whenever I want. Disclaimer, Riddle only let me help after very extensive training — you cannot just walk in here and be like ‘let me help you out with the animals’.
The girl turns to the camera with a smile very different from the ones she had shown. A scarily smiling emoji (🙂) appears over her head.
Yuu: Not only will the animals themselves get angry, I will too. And not just me, Heartslabyul as well — especially Riddle. And you know what happens if you anger the queen.
Yuu makes a line across her throat with her thumb and pretends to let her head fall. Her grin is wide and manic.
Yuu (whispering): Off with your heads.
She cackles and terrified emojis (😰😰😱😱) appear at the bottom of the screen.
Yuu grins again all cheerily and sunshine once more and faces forward, humming.
Text appears at the bottom ‘To anyone worried about our prefect, don't — she is NRC through and through’
Yuu then stops talking as she spots something off camera. The girl grins widely and runs out of the camera range.
Question marks emojis (❓) appear at the bottom along the text ‘She forgot about us… good thing housewarden Shroud made sure to prepare for that…’
The camera moves and soon, it catches sight of Yuu, she is playfully tussling with a teen in the Heartslabyul dorm uniform with reddish-orange hair and a heart mark around one of his eyes.
Three people surround them, watching and laughing at the teen. Another teen with dark blue hair and a spade around one eye is apparently cheering Yuu on. A third teen with orange-red hair and a diamond mark is videoing the whole thing laughing. A fourth teen with green hair, glasses, a fedora hat and a clover mark is shaking his head but he is smiling.
All four teens in the Heartslabyul inform are holding paint brushes and cans of red paint can be seen on the ground.
The camera draws closer.
Yuu: I told you the answer was sage mint! But did you listen? No!
(???): Ah shut up!!! It's not my fault sage mint and hoar eucalyptus smell the same pulverized!
Yuu: Professor Crewel gave me 3 deductions for that!
(???): Get him Yuu! Make sure that it's your knuckles making contact for maximum pain!
(???): Oms you freshies are totes adorbs! #SiblingBonding!
(???): Now, now, Yuu perhaps you can let Ace go? We still have a section of roses to paint.
The teen with the diamond mark notices the camera and he smiles and waves. Captions appear next to him. ‘Carter Diamond, Heartslabyul third year’
The other members of the group stop after noticing Carter’s actions and Yuu chuckles awkwardly, straightening up.
Yuu: Sorry, forgot about you huh?
Unimpressed emojis (😑😑😑) appear at the bottom of the screen. A sheepish emoji (😅) appears over Yuu's head. She clears her throat.
Yuu: Anyways, these are my best friends and first friends here at NRC! This is my headache (she points at the blue haired teen) and my migraine (she points at the reddish-orange haired teen)
Both teens: HEY!
Yuu ends up cackling, and the other teens laugh with her while the ‘migraine’ and the ‘headache’ pout.
Text appears over the teen with the heart mark ‘Ace Trappola, the ‘migraine’, Heartslabyul first year’. Similar text appears over the teen with the spade mark ‘Deuce Spade, the ‘headache’, Heartslabyul first year’
(???): Now, now Yuu that’s not very nice.
The camera then focuses on the teen with the clover mark. ‘Trey Clover, third year, vice-housewarden of Heartslabyul.
Ace and Deuce both brighten at being defended by their senior.
Trey: Even if it is true
Both teens look betrayed at the vice-housewarden while Yuu and Carter laugh in the background.
Carter: But anyways Yuu-yuu, watchu doing here? I don’t think you came just to bother ADeuce.
Yuu gestures at the camera.
Yuu: You know the video Headmaster Crowley asked me to do? I had the idea that instead of yapping at the camera, I’ll go around and I’m interviewing the housewardens and vice-housewardens.
Trey: I’m flattered, but I’m sure the others will be better to interview Yuu
Carter immediately turned to the teen and playfully smacked his arm.
Carter: Trey-trey, Yuu is here to interview you. Have a little pride m’kay?
Trey smiles and turns to Yuu.
Trey: Alright, but could you wait a little Yuu? We still have to paint the roses.
Yuu: I don’t mind! Can I help? I see you’re doing it old school style right now.
Trey: Yes, Queen of Hearts rule 350: when two dorm mice touch their noses together on a Wednesday the roses must be painted without magic.
Once again, text appears at the bottom of the screen: ‘In addition to school rules, members of the Heartslabyul dorm follow the 810 rules of the Queen of Hearts. Some rules may not make sense at times but are dutifully followed by all members’
Yuu picks up the brush and she starts playfully interviewing Trey as they paint the roses, Yuu gets Trey to talk about Heartslabyul dorm life, and the activities and chores they have like Unbirthday parties, croquet tournaments, painting the roses, taking care of the animals etc.
Yuu: Alright, last question Trey-senpai! As vice-housewarden, what would you say are the characteristics that make a student ‘Heartslabyul’?
Trey hums, quiet for a moment as finishes painting the rose in front of him.
Trey: What makes a student Heartslabyul huh? Well, most people would assume that being a complete and utter rule follower would make someone Heartslabyul but that’s not necessarily true.
Trey turns to Yuu
Trey: The Heartslabyul dorm emphasizes living by a personal moral code that guides every decision, from daily routines to interactions with others. While each student’s code may differ, it is central to their identity and conduct. People think we blindly follow external laws, such as the Queen of Hearts’ rules. In reality, we follow rules because we treat them as societal guidelines necessary to uphold justice and improve society. At the core of our belief is that rules exist to end discord, create peace, and protect people, not to cause unjust suffering.
The vice-housewarden chuckles.
Trey: After all, the Queen of Hearts established her 810 rules not to force someone to dry off with a run in the ocean, but to maintain order to combat the chaos that was prominent in her kingdom at the time.
Yuu smiles at Trey, but before she could say anything there is the distinct click-clack of heels that could be heard.
The camera turns at the same time as the five people, and it catches the entrance of Riddle. Riddle stood in the center of the stone pathway, hands on his knees, bending slightly as he was inspecting a row of perfectly painted roses. His cape fluttered slightly in the breeze. At that exact moment, a gentle wind picked up, sending a swirl of red rose petals dancing through the air toward him.
‘What kind of anime protagonist entrance is this!?’ appeared at the bottom of the screen.
Riddle smiled at Yuu and the four males.
Riddle: Hello everyone, the roses have been painted perfectly.
There are various exclamations of the housewarden’s name. Text appears over Riddle. ‘Riddle Rosehearts, second year, housewarden of Heartslabyul’ and beside the captions are smiling emojis surround by hearts ( 🥰🥰🥰).
Yuu: Hi Riddle! Are you free at the moment? I was hoping to interview you for the video the headmage asked for
Riddle: I am available, although would it be amenable for you to conduct your interview in my office? There are two third years I will be tutoring in half an hour.
Yuu: I don’t mind, I’ve been wanting to sit down anyways.
The two bid goodbye to Trey, Carter, Ace and Deuce and begin walking towards the dorm building. They chat as they walk but it is muted. Finally, they arrive at the building and walk inside.
Dizzy face emojis (😵) appear on screen, and its understandable why. While the dorm is amazing to look at, it can also be seen that some areas are distorted and even upside down. Riddle has no problem of course and is already walking, heels click-clacking but Yuu has to center herself by taking the arm Riddle had offered.
Yuu: I’ve visited so many times but sometimes I still get dizzy just walking around here. I don’t understand how you do it in heels.
Riddle chuckles.
Riddle: Practice, but I understand you. Vil also dislikes visiting all the way to my office, he doesn’t take off his heels but he mentioned that the first time he came he was sorely tempted to do so.
The scene again gets paused by a pause icon, the scene grayscaling as text appears
‘Yuu NRC Fun Fact!
Both Vil and Riddle wear high heels regularly! Students know immediately who is approaching when they hear the sharp click-clack on the ground. Riddle and Vil are both so accustomed to heels that they have no trouble sprinting wearing them. Our fashionable queens!’
The video resumes, Riddle and Yuu now reaching Riddle’s office. He pushes the door open to a wide office with a desk currently holding tall stacks of papers, two couches a coffee table and the walls are lined floor to ceiling with books.
Yuu sits down on the couch and Riddle summons a tray of tea before settling across from Yuu.
Riddle: Now, what is your question Yuu?
Yuu: I have two actually, first question, what is a housewarden?
Riddle: A housewarden is the chosen leader of a dormitory. We are responsible for upholding the traditions, rules, and values of our dorm. In Heartslabyul’s case, that means enforcing the Queen of Hearts’ 810 rules, maintaining order, and ensuring all students strive for excellence and propriety.
Yuu nods
Yuu: Next question! Some people have noticed from the NRC Official website that the housewardens dress differently from their dorm members. Is there any particular reason for this? And who dictates the housewarden’s uniform? After all some housewardens uniforms just have minor differences while for example yours and Azul’s count as a whole other uniform
Riddle: The difference in uniforms is simple, it's to easily identify the housewardens which is why we are actually required to have a difference no matter how minor — like Idia’s having a hood. As for who dictates the uniform, it is one of the privileges we have as housewardens. We are the ones to customize our own uniform.
Yuu: Hm, makes sense now that I think about it. Idia probably added a hood for his preference and oh Vil probably added a crown as homage to the Fairest Queen.
Riddle: Vil’s choice has a little more history than you would think. The crown is an item kept in the school archives for the housewarden of Pomefiore, it is as old as the dorm itself — similar to the fang necklace Leona uses. Both were items first used by the first housewarden of their dorm, and may or may not be used by the current housewarden of the dorm.
Yuu: Let me guess, your crown too?
Riddle: Correct. Malleus’ cape and Kalim’s turban with the parrot feathers are historical articles as well, belonging to the first housewardens of Diasomnia and Scarabia respectively.
Yuu: What about Azul and Idia? Do they use any of the items passed down?
Riddle: No, neither chose to use the artifacts offered by the school. Azul however, much like I did, modeled his uniform after the uniform of the first housewarden. Hence why Azul has a coat and his shirt is white and his bowtie purple in contrast to his dorm members where the colors are reversed.
Yuu: Thanks for answering my questions Riddle!
Riddle: I look forward to seeing the fruits of your labor prefect, alongside the Film Club members in charge of editing the video.
Yuu: Ah right, the housewardens will be the first to watch the video right?
Riddle: Yes, it will be presented at the weekly meeting for us to review and ensure no sensitive information was shown or said. We of course don’t think you would show anything intentionally but just in case there is something in the background or such.
Yuu: Right, you guys are also in charge of the security of NRC… I’ll make sure to send this over to the editors so they can hopefully get it done before your meeting.
Riddle: Please do prefect.
Yuu: Alright, say goodbye to the camera Riddle! I’ll end the part of Heartslabyul here, do you mind if I stay a little longer?
Riddle: Of course, you have not finished your cup after all.
Riddle and Yuu then turn to the camera and wave goodbye. A rose emoji (🌹) appears on the middle of the screen and grows larger. When it grows smaller, the scene has transitioned and Yuu is back on the couch from the start of the video.
Yuu: Well that’s it for the first part of the video guys! Don’t worry, in part 2 I’ll be showing you around Savannaclaw, Octavinelle, Scarabia and Ignihyde!
Yuu waves goodbye at the camera. The scene fades to black and the NRC logo appears.
