Chapter Text
July 6th, 2026
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Carter lays on her stomach on her twin bed, black ballpoint pen in hand. Notebook open on her white comforter. There are several neat but slightly rushed and unorganized notes jotted down in between the lines of the notebook. There are a few sketches scribbled on the sides and top of the lined paper.
Carter glances at the hockey game playing on the forty-inch TV attached to the wall across from her before quickly writing an abbreviated note on what she saw from the game.
As Carter studies the game, for a second, she feels her bed shake slightly beneath her but pays it no mind.
She brushes it off, assuming it was caused by her subconsciously adjusting herself.
Carter yawned, taking that as a sign that it's time for her to start getting ready for bed. Carter finishes up studying, putting away her stuff and getting ready to go to sleep, carrying-out her night routine.
After finishing her nightly routine, she picks up her phone from the end of her bed and disconnects AirPlay from the tv, letting the tv screen go black as she uses her thumb to swipe the tab of the hockey game on her phone away before shutting it off. Carter plugs her phone with its charger and places it faced down on her nightstand.
It wasn't until Carter finally settled into bed for the night, staring up at the ceiling around midnight that she started to hear muffled voices and moans.
Carter pressed either side of her pillow into her ears, huffing lightly once before closing her eyes.
Despite being irritated and annoyed, she still tries to get some shuteye. She hopes to fall asleep soon, blocking out the noise the best she can.
When her headboard starts to rattle and her bed frame starts to shake, Carter groans and kicks off her sheets, exasperated.
Carter lets go of her pillow, letting herself hear the muffled groans and moans coming from next door as she stares up at the ceiling once again.
Carter extends her arm up and uses her knuckles to lightly knock on the wall beyond the headboard of her bed. She gives her neighbors a moment but the moans seem to only get clearer and louder.
At one point she clearly hears a name being groaned out, "Fuck, Trinity!"
A beat.
Another voice moans.
"Fuck, baby, feels so good!"
Carter's bed continues to shake, the sound and feel of her rattling headboard starts to give her a headache.
Carter groans before knocking in the same place a bit harder this time. After doing so, she brings her hand back to her side as she hopes and waits that her neighbors will get the hint.
For a moment, it gets quiet and everything goes still. Carter thinks they've either finally got the hint or finished. She sighs before letting herself relax.
Just as she lets her eyes flutter shut, the moment comes to an end as her headboard and bed frame resume shaking. A second later, the moans and groans restart.
Carter's eye snap open, groaning softly and glaring up at the wall behind her headboard.
She grips and pulls the pillow from underneath her head and throws it across the room angrily before tiredly climbing out of bed and slipping on her brown Ugg slippers.
Carter leaves her bedroom, almost tripping over her discarded pillow in the process.
She walks through her living room, passing her small kitchen as she makes her way towards her front door.
Carter swipes her apartment key off her coffee table while passing through the living room, putting it in her plaid pajama pants pocket.
She opens her front door and steps out into the apartment complex hallway. She lets the door to her apartment shut behind her as she starts to walk toward her next door neighbors' door.
Muffled groans and moans persist, even out in the hallway of the apartment complex.
Carter is surprised none of the other neighbors have complained or put a stop to it yet.
Carter stops in front of her neighbors' door, 505, is printed in silver above the peephole of the black door.
She takes a deep breath to calm herself before bringing up her hand to use her knuckles to rap on the door.
When there is no answer, only the sound of persistent moans, Carter starts to pound on the door impatiently.
When the noises from inside the apartment stop, she stops her pounding, bringing her hand back down to her side.
She hears a couple stifled voices a few moments before the door opens. A dark curly haired woman holds the door open, wearing only a tank top and boxer shorts, leaning against the frame as she looks Carter up and down, "May I help you?"
Her hair is tousled, a few baby hairs stick to her forehead, and a couple hickeys are forming just above her cleavage on her chest.
"My eyes are up here, chica," the woman teases, a small smirk playing at the corner of her lips.
Flustered, Carter clears her throat before apologizing, "Sorry, it's just—."
"Did Whitaker forget his keys again? Who is it?" A feminine voice cuts Carter off from afar.
A moment later, the door is opened wider by a shorter, tatted woman as the taller woman lets go of the door handle and settles her hand on shorter woman's loose boxer brief clad ass.
Carter looks between the two, slightly surprised. She didn't expect two women to answer the door, but she's not complaining.
They're both beautiful women, the tatted woman has beautiful green eyes that contrast from her light olive skin and dark brown hair. The other woman has thick black curly wavy hair, gorgeous brown eyes and golden-brown skin.
Carter diverts her gaze to the floor as she scratches the back of her neck.
"Who is this?" The green-eyed woman asks as she observes Carter.
"I don't know, she hasn't introduced herself yet," the brown-eyed woman replies, not taking her eyes off of Carter as she looks at her expectantly.
Carter looks up at the two older women and shoves her hands into her pants pockets, "I just moved in next door yesterday, apartment 504–."
The tatted woman responds before Carter could continue, "Well, 504, It's a little late for neighborly introductions, don't you think?"
Carter chuckles sarcastically before replying, "Yeah, you know it's funny that you said that, cause don't you think it's a little late to be that loud at this time of night?"
Both of the older women have smirks on their faces as Carter has a tired sarcastic smile on her own as she finishes her sentence.
The older women glance at each other before directing their gazes back on Carter.
The green-eyed woman matches Carter's sarcastic energy with her own, sarcasm dripping from her laughter before speaking, "It's actually the perfect time for the type of activity we were participating in, the noise is just a side effect. Deal with it, you live in an apartment complex, not a penthouse," she grips the handle of her door slightly tighter as she continues,
"Aren't you a little too young to be up this late anyways?" She adds to her retort.
Carter scoffs, glancing at her own apartment door before looking at the older women, "I'm more than old enough to be up at this time,"
She leans in slightly as she continues, "The activity you're partaking in and it's 'side effects' are keeping me and probably this whole floor, if not the whole building awake and some of us have to work tomorrow, don't you?"
Carter looks like she is about to walk away, she stops herself, "Could you be any louder?" She asks, exasperated.
"Yeah, actually we can, give us five minutes and we'll make sure of it." The green-eyed woman retorts then winks at Carter.
"Oh, I don't doubt it," Carter replies, before continuing. "You know, it's like one in the morning. I don't mean to come off as rude or anything, but I would actually like to get some sleep tonight. So, if you guys don't mind, could you please keep it down? Or at least try not to create another earthquake?"
Carter stands there, out in the hallway before the two older women, fists clenched inside her pajama pant pockets as she awaits their response. Her left hand is clenched around her apartment key, probably leaving a mark or two in her palm.
The green-eyed woman smirks, sarcastically replying, "We'll certainly try."
The brown-eyed woman snickers as she steps back to let the green-eyed woman shut the apartment door.
As the door clicks shut, Carter scoffs, looking at the closed door for a moment. She shakes her head once in disbelief before muttering under her breath, "Cunts."
Carter goes back to her own apartment.
She tosses her key onto the coffee table as she walks toward her bedroom, not caring where it landed on the empty table.
Walking into her bedroom, Carter picks up her pillow from the floor before continuing her way towards her bed. She lazily tosses her pillow back at the head of the bed next to her other pillow.
Carter yawns as she kicks off her slippers before she climbs into bed.
Thankful that the noise and movement has stopped, even if it could be temporary, she's grateful for the peace.
Carter sighs contently as she lets her head rest against the pillow and body relax into the mattress beneath her as she closes her eyes.
Carter falls asleep with the two annoyingly hot women stuck on her mind.
