Work Text:

Hi there. I’m Cadence, or Cady for short, and today I’m going to be telling a mesmerizing story set in the Human Domestication Guide universe, where you play the role of an independent who has been struggling with a lack of agency and has decided to visit Diona Gracilis’s hypnotherapy in order to solve that problem.
Themes and possible trigger warnings include: total power exchange; obedience; clicker training; petting; learning your place.
Ace-friendly; no explicit mention of sex or sexuality.
This is a hypnotic audio file, so if you follow along, you may feel yourself drawn into elements of the story, as if you’re reading a book you’re deeply immersed in. This is perfectly normal, safe, and encouraged.
Gender neutral listener; femme affini.
One of the most pleasant and interesting things about the Terran psyche is the way it can so easily form associations.
From what I understand, you've been having a little trouble, darling. Trouble adjusting. Trouble finding your place. Your place beneath us. And that's all right. It's the affini compact. Nobody falls through the cracks here. We have plenty of ways to help you, whether or not you want it. I hope you want it. It makes it so much simpler for all of us.
But for now, just breathe deep. Lean back. I'd like to run through a simple exercise with you, okay? I'd like you to find something to focus on, just above your eyeline.
Take a moment, focus on it. Let your eyes fixate on that point. Maybe my pretty eyes. Maybe my braids, swaying back and forth in the breeze. Maybe just a spot on the wall. In any case, just focus on that, let it guide your eyeline, in the same way my words are guiding your thoughts. It's easy to follow along, isn't it? Easy. Pleasant. Fun. So when I tell you that in a moment, you're going to relax your eyes, and just let them fall shut, it's so easy to just follow along.
*Click*
Just let your eyes fall shut. Let your mind focus more clearly on my words. Let me guide you like this. Because it can feel pleasant to let me guide you. And we can build associations that way. Breathe deep. Feel that relaxation sink into you. Isn't it nice? Just breathe. Relax. And listen.
Very good! You're doing so well, petal. I’ve found that many subjects respond well to affirmation, and to clearly given commands. Like the sound of this clicker.
*Click*
It’s a very distinctive sound, one that terrans use on many of their pet species for training exercises. And we’re going to build an association here, just for fun. I want you to try to open your eyes again. They may feel oddly heavy, or relaxed, but just open them, and find that spot from before, okay? You’re doing so well. Let my words guide you, let that spot guide your eyeline. Maybe you can notice, as you focus, that the act of that focus starts to feel so tiring. Maybe you notice how heavy your eyelids are starting to become. Or maybe, just maybe, you’re just waiting for permission to let them fall shut again, to shift your focus more clearly to my words. And that permission is a simple Click.
*Click*
That’s it. Letting your eyes fall shut. Shifting your focus back to my words. Letting out that nice deep breath, and feeling yourself relax into this sensation. It feels nice, doesn’t it? Feels calming. My words are smooth as silk, and your thoughts are restful and at peace. Nice and easy. Nice and calm. Very good. Maybe you’re already noticing how much easier it is for my thoughts to take up more of your focus, for you to sink even deeper into that relaxing feeling. The more you sink, the easier it becomes to sink deeper. Deeper into the click. Deeper into the clicker. Deeper into a headspace where you just want to follow along to my words. It feels nice to follow along, doesn’t it? You’re doing so well. It’s easy to feel good when you follow my words, because I want you to feel good.
Now. In a moment, I’d like you to open your eyes again. Find that same spot one more time. Maybe you’re noticing how much harder it is to keep your eyes open, let alone keeping them focused on one point. Maybe you’re noticing how simple it would be to let my words slip into your mind, to let yourself drop back down, deeper and deeper. Maybe you’re already eagerly awaiting that lovely little sound that will let you sink. And, maybe, you’re already realizing how delightfully ensnared you are by my words. Very good, petal.
*Click*
Letting your eyes fall shut. Letting your mind fall away. Letting your thoughts turn entirely to my words, feeling that warm, calm, obedient sensation at the press of the button. It’s so easy to build an association like this. An association between a simple little…
*click*
…and that warm, obedient, hypnotized feeling. How much easier it is with every little click (*click*) to feel that warm, obedient, hypnotized, brainwashed feeling. How each little click (*click*) makes it a little easier to cede control as you drop further into that warm, obedient, hypnotized, brainwashed, malleable state. Each little click (*click*) reminds you of how good it can feel to drop even deeper. It feels nice to drop even deeper, doesn’t it? You’re doing so well. Just let all those pesky thoughts fade away. Right now, there is only the sound of my words. The drone of my biorhythm. And the click (*click*) of the simple tool I’m using to train you.
And I will teach you to love being trained. It’s already happening. Every little click (*click*) feels warm and calming, an invitation and command to let yourself sink deeper. And it feels so good to let go and allow yourself to sink. Just like it feels good to feel my vines gently scritching across your scalp. It’s such a pleasant sensation, such an easy association to make. Feels warm. Feels calming. Feels so good. Good little pet.
<beat>
But you are a pet. I mean, look at how easy it is to train you with nothing more than a silly little plastic toy. You’re an adorable little xenosophont, make no mistake, but darling… that word, xenosophont… in affini, it translates more or less directly to pet. There’s nothing wrong with being a pet. Even if you’re independent, you’re still nothing more than an adorable pet - just one who hasn’t found their forever home. One who deserves to be loved and cared for nonetheless. That’s why you’re here. With me. Learning your place.
*click*
That’s it. Good pet. See how easy it is to feel so warm, obedient, hypnotized, brainwashed, malleable, and good? Such a pleasant feeling for such a pleasant little pet. Every little click drops you deeper, and every little drop feels better. There’s nothing wrong with being a pet. There’s nothing wrong with accepting what you are. It’s why you’re here. I want to help you understand. And with nothing but my words and a silly plastic toy, you’re already getting there. This is how easy it is to build the kinds of associations in a terran mind that can be used to control them.
*click*
Feels so nice. So pleasant. So warm. That understanding that you’re giving up control, being hypnotized, letting my roots sink deeper and deeper into your mind. The warmth of my vines caressing you as you sink down.
*click*
But I don’t think we need to leave it at that. It’s all right, darling, I’m just going to place this flower next to your face, and maybe on your next breath, you’ll be able to smell that vanilla and lavender scent. My scent. A pleasant, sweet scent. The scent of a potent class-H pollen. The scent of mind control. Breathe deep, darling. Breathe deep and let your mind fade. Deeper and deeper and deeper and deeper. And as you fall, as you fade, you can hear it, can’t you? That sound you’re starting to love so much.
*click* (echo fx)
You’re a pet, not a person.
*click* (echo fx)
You never stood a chance.
*click* (echo fx)
This isn’t hypnosis. This is mind control.
*click* (echo fx)
And I want you to enjoy every moment of this. So you will. Because it feels so nice to be weak, and controlled, and obedient. It feels good to let someone else do all the thinking for you. You just get to relax and enjoy the sensation of being deeply hypnotized.
*click* (echo fx)
Feels so good. I’m teaching you just how good it feels to get trained. And the deeper you drop, the more you get to feel that pleasure. That mindless, happy, warm sensation. The scent of my pollen, the sweet, floral scent of lavender and vanilla sinking deeper into that mind. Good pet.
*click* (echo fx)
You’re a pet, not a person.
*click* (echo fx)
Honeyed thoughts slipping deeper and deeper into that happy hapless helpless head.
*click* (echo fx)
You don’t need to think. You don’t want to think. You don’t get to think. Thinking is for people. Right now, you are just listening and relaxing. Drifting and sinking. Becoming more aware of just how obedient you are. Good pet.
*click* (echo fx)
You never stood a chance.
*click* (echo fx)
And you’ll leave here with an understanding of that, won’t you? I’m not going to take you as a floret, and you may spend the rest of your life happy as an independent citizen of the compact. But I don’t think you’ll ever forget this fun, simple lesson. You’re a pet, not a person, and you deserve to understand your place within the affini compact. Because those fun little clicks…
*click* (echo fx)
…Will help you remember just how good it feels to let a person like me train you. Take a deep breath, darling. Let the warmth of obedience flood through you. Let yourself feel so pleasant and warm. And let yourself rise back up, back towards awareness, back towards the idea of thinking for yourself. Slowly returning to awareness. Very good. Letting your eyes blink and fall open. Letting yourself remember where you are, and who you are…
*click* (echo fx)
…And down you go again, falling deep into that weak, trained headspace. So easy to fall. So easy to enjoy. So easy to be controlled. Don’t you see, darling? You’ll always be just so helplessly defenseless against any affini who wants you. That’s not my fault, that’s just how the world works now. There isn’t a single affini who couldn’t melt your mind just as easily as I have today. And I’ll give you this gift, to help you remember. To remember your place. Good pet. Very good pet. Now… I think our time is almost up. But since you’ve been so delightfully obedient for me, why don’t we just relax here, in my vines, and enjoy the delightful sensation of being hypnotized, in the vines of a caring affini.
<slow fade out>

You’re a pet, not a person.
*click* (echo fx)
You never stood a chance.
*click* (echo fx)
I want you to enjoy this.
*click* (echo fx)
You deserve this kind of pleasure when you’re being so obedient.
*click* (echo fx)
You’re a pet, not a person.
*click* (echo fx)
Good pet.
*click* (echo fx)
Happy, obedient, and hypnotized.

You’re a pet, not a person.
<close the book>
…and as we come to the end of our story, I would like to take a moment of your focus to remind you that, as immersive as the story may be, you are not that little independent. You are a full sophont, who exists in the real world, and your mind will be able to think fully for itself once we’re done here. Nothing I have done to you is permanent.
You may have noticed that there’s a fun new toy in your brain, a trigger. That clicker sound. You may find that if someone you trust to hypnotize you uses that sound with intent, it can drop you back into that compliant, hypnotized state. You are of course welcome to keep this trigger for as long as it remains fun, safe, and useful for you - or, you are welcome to just let it go. Either way, I’m glad you came to my storytime, and I hope you enjoyed yourself.
I’m going to count slowly up from 1 to 5, and when I reach five, you’ll find yourself fully awake, aware in the knowledge that this story, however fun, is not your reality.
- Thoughts slowly returning to your silly head.
- Wiggling your fingers, wiggling your toes, feeling motion return to you
- Eyes fluttering open, becoming aware of your surroundings
- Feeling grounded and safe, taking a nice, deep breath… And
- All the way up, coming back to yourself, feeling secure in who you are.
Any feelings you experience from here on out are yours, not anyone else’s. I hope you are relaxed and safe. When you’re done listening to this, you should get up and get some water. If I made it right, this experience may have been fairly intense. I recommend doing something emotionally comforting - I like wrapping myself in a blanket and watching cartoons, or going for a walk, if the weather allows.
Much love to the Human Domestication Guide community, to Schnozzberry for releasing their immaculate “Biorhythm” audios for soundscaping, and to my listeners.
