[Maul wakes up in the middle of a pain flareup. Obi-wan has some creative ideas on how to distract him from it]

Notes:

Title inspired by Head Over Heels by Tigercub. It's a great song, and so insanely them so I highly recommend!

There are simply not enough wireplay fics for Maul on this site, and so I thought I would be the change I want to see in the world.

A big thank you to my best friend as well for reading through this a million times and giving me tips! Really putting that writing degree to good use! Love you loads though (and I swear you will be reading more like this in the near future, so prepare yourself)

Hope you enjoy!

Work Text:

Initially, Obi-wan was unsure as to what woke him up. He could see the moonlight streaming in through a crack in the curtains and could feel a cool breeze from when he’d forgotten to close the window earlier. Laying completely still, he strained his hearing for any threat. To his surprise, he did hear something, however it was coming from the being beside him. Maul was facing away from him, but he could see the outline of his chest heaving and could hear his stifled grunts of pain. Sitting up, Obi-wan placed a cautious hand on his lover’s arm. Maul flinched back aggressively and in this light Obi-wan could see the sweat beading on his brow.

“My love, what’s the matter?” He asked, shaking his head in an attempt to bring himself to full consciousness.

“Go back to sleep Obi-wan” Maul growled lowly. He seemed to shrink into himself as he turned to half glare at him. Obi-wan could feel the slight tremor wracking his frame. Well, that wouldn’t do.

“Is it your legs again? Are you in pain?”

“When am I not?” Came his blunt reply. Sighing, Obi-wan stood and made his way to the modest kitchen in their quarters to grab him a cup of water. If Maul didn’t want his help, then at least he could do this. When he returned, Maul was pushing himself into a seated position, breathing heavily through his nose. Obi-wan passed him the cup wordlessly and Maul nodded his thanks, not yet trusting his voice to remain steady.

Sipping the water slowly, Maul tried to centre himself. His nerves felt like fire, his body forgetting he no longer had legs to stretch. He shifted slightly, instantly regretting it when a bolt of pain shot through him. He inhaled deeply again, trying not to flinch and spill the water everywhere. That’s when Obi-wan’s ever attentive hand came again to take the cup off him.

“Please darling, what can I do to help? I can’t just watch you do this alone.”

Maul sighed. As much as he loved Obi-wan, there just wasn’t much he could do to help. He turned his piercing gaze on him. In this low light, his eyes glowed like twin suns, his face twisted into his ever-present scowl. Obi-wan sighed too and rested his hand once again on Maul’s arm, tracing his tattoos. This at least seemed to drain some of the tension from him. Spurred on by this, Obi-wan moved his ministrations up to his shoulders, trying to ease the tightness. Maul sighed again, leaning into the touch. He groaned when another spike of pain shot through him and Obi-wan pulled their foreheads together, his hand on the back of Maul’s neck.

Looking into his eyes, Obi-wan begged for the last time “Maul, please. Let me help you.”

Maul looked up, exasperated. Fatigue was starting to set in alongside the unrelenting pain. Obi-wan took advantage of the space to press a chaste kiss to the column of his throat. He felt Maul take a deep breath, hitching slightly. He moved to continue pressing open-mouthed kisses along his neck. Maul struggled to stifle his moan when he felt Obi-wan graze his teeth along his pulse-point, a phantom heat pooling in his gut. Obi-wan slowly continued his charge upwards until he was pressing feather-light kisses across Maul’s cheeks and brow, easing the scowl off his face. He pulled back slightly to peer into Maul’s half-closed eyes. His face was still pinched slightly, but at least some of the tension had slowly started to bleed from his frame. Finally, he looked back at Obi-wan, and he could see a lifetime of pain within that gaze. It was here that Obi-wan’s resolve hardened.

Maul surged forward then, cupping Obi-wan’s face and sliding his tongue into Obi-wan’s mouth. Obi-wan’s lips parted to make space for the sudden onslaught. He twisted his head to deepen the kiss, sliding his hand from Maul’s neck to his broad chest.

“I’d like to try something, my love, but if at any point you want to stop…”

Maul’s face twisted into one of confusion, but also curiosity. He nodded, “I trust you”. With that, Obi-wan leaned in to kiss along Maul’s neck. He leaned his head back to let him roam, his grip tightening slightly on his shoulders, humming in appreciation. Obi-wan continued down Maul’s chest, peppering kissing down the thick black lines of tattoos, occasionally stopping to graze his teeth and bite gently. Maul groaned in response, momentarily distracted by the bliss. It was then that Obi-wan reached down to his prosthetic legs. He worked his fingers nimbly between the planes of metal, trying to find one of the countless wires hidden underneath.

“What do you think you ar-“ Mauls voice ground out before it faltered just as Obi-wan had located one of these wines and pulled gently. Obi-wan was studying his face for any discomfort when Maul suddenly turned to him wide eyed. He pulled on the wire again and Maul fell back, a strangled moan tearing from his throat.

Obi-wan experimentally rolled it between his fingers and felt Maul tense under his palm, but this time heard nothing. Rolling it again, he suddenly became slightly worried that he’s misjudged Maul’s previous reaction. However, looking up at his face, Obi-wan was gifted with the sight of Maul’s lower lip caught between his teeth, his face tight with focus in his effort to hold back any sounds.

“I take it this is okay then?” Obi-wan said with a grin as Maul nodded minutely.

His unoccupied hand found the dip of Maul’s waist in a steadying motion for himself as much as Maul, leaning down to press a firm kiss against his sternum. He continued to mouth at Maul’s chest as he dug his hand further in to find another wire at the junction of his hip. Maul seemed to be in a daze from just this, eyes closed and panting quiet grunts into the night.

Without warning, Maul pulled him up into another searing kiss, almost surprising Obi-wan into forgetting what he was doing. But not quite. He pulled again sharply at the wire and swallowed the way Maul keened into his mouth. As if to distract him, Maul pawed at the tent slowly forming in Obi-wan’s pants, but he gently directed him away. Breaking the kiss, Maul looked at him, confused. Obi-wan only chuckled. Shaking his head lightly, he turned his attention again to Maul’s legs. Unfazed, Maul reached again only to be stopped.

“My love, just appreciate this for the moment.” Only then did Maul stiffly lean back, apparently unhappy with all the attention being on him. He looked at Obi-wan suspiciously, trying to find the catch, and when finding no such thing, haltingly leant back all the way, a small hiss escaping as his legs protested the movement. Slowly feeling that daze return to him, his hand found its way to his mouth, clamping down on any treacherous sounds trying to escape.

It was then that Obi-wan seemed to find a particularly sensitive spot, because Maul’s eyes suddenly flew open again with a sharp gasp. His hands flew to the blanket beneath them as he once again tried to even his breaths, only now for a completely different reason. Obi-wan froze, unsure whether to continue until Maul’s eyes locked onto his.

“Well don’t stop now” Maul said roughly. Obi-wan chuckled, giving in immediately. He carried on massaging that sensitive spot, relishing in the half-stifled growls and whimpers it was pulling from his lover. Maul’s back suddenly arched off the bed, as he reached lower, almost taking Obi-wan’s fingers with it. He pulled his hand back harshly, bracing himself on the place when flesh twisted into metal. Maul turned to him, panic written across his features. He reached out to thoroughly check Obi-wan’s hand for any lasting damage, and when finding none moved to hold the side of his neck, gently stroking his beard.

“I’m okay love, you just scared me is all” Obi-wan said with a small laugh “The only drawback it seems is that your legs are very well made”

Maul stared at him blankly for a second before he frantically reached down to pull at the plates protecting the wires in his pelvis. Panicked, Obi-wan reached out to grab his hands, attempting to cease his efforts. Maul growled low in this throat batting his hands away. “Maul. Stop, you’ll hurt yourself!”

One final tug, and the plate finally snapped out of place. With a triumphant look, Maul twisted around to throw the newly removed metal onto the floor. Obi-wan could only look on in horror, a mental checklist of tools in their quarters and his own rudimentary repair skills beginning in the back of his mind. There was a beat of silence before Maul burst into laughter. “They can-” he tried before dissolving into another bout of maniacal cackles “They can come off”. Obi-wan couldn’t have rolled his eyes harder if he’d tried. He playfully shoved Maul’s arm while the other wiped at his eyes.

“Honestly, your face, you should have seen it!” he cackled again. Obi-wan was growing impatient now, and so simply laid his hand upon the newly exposed wires. The laughter ceased immediately, cut off by a gasp that threw Maul’s head back. His hands flew to find purchase on Obi-wan’s chest, whimpering at the new sensation.

“That’s much better” Obi-wan grinned.

Maul tried to glare but was too caught up in remembering how to breathe for it to really hold any weight. He leaned forward slowly, resting his head to pant into Obi-wan’s shoulder. He tried reaching for Obi-wan again, eager to give something back, but Obi-wan carefully moved his hand away “No, dear. This is all about you”

His gaze softened as he let Obi-wan softly push him back. By the stars he thought, what did I do to deserve this? He leaned back on his elbows, keen to watch as Obi-wan tangled his hands among the delicate wires. He felt as though struck by lightning, every nerve firing under Obi-wan’s careful attention. He felt pulled taught as a bow. The thunder under his skin crashing in harmony with the ache from before. The new exposure increasing the sensation ten-fold; A perfect mix of pain and pleasure.

Obi-wan methodically rubbed his hand over Maul’s waist and chest, careful to not snag Maul’s piercings as he did. He wasn’t expecting him to be so reactive to all this. But with the loud moans it was pulling from him now, he found he didn’t mind at all. He leaned down to once again mouth at him, attempting to keep him grounded. Maul was beautiful like this. One arm slung over his face as he gasped and whimpered. His sharp teeth glinted in the moonlight and Obi-wan took a second to appreciate the way his tattoos shifted as his muscles tensed. He placed a hand next to his head to get a better look at his lover’s face, and Maul wasted no time in reaching out to hold him. To anchor him. Sharp claws digging in like a lifeline.

Ah, Obi-wan, please!

“What is it you want my angel?” He asked sweetly, now nosing at Maul’s collar bones. Maul held on to him for dear life, raking scratches down his arm and back.

Obi-wan slowed down slightly, pulling his hand away by a fraction. Maul already seemed dangerously close to the edge, and he didn’t want to overwhelm him so soon. Doing so however caused a whine to escape him, already missing the contact. Maul writhed on the bed, trying to tilt his hips back into Obi-wan’s waiting hands. The action caused burst of pain to shoot through his hip, a sharp gasp ripping from his throat. His lungs constricted, fighting to get his breathing back under control to no avail.

“I want – Ah!” He wailed as Obi-wan finally relented, locating a bundle of cables close to the core. He continued his assault on it as he watched two tears spring free from Maul’s closed eyes. His face was pulled tight in pleasure as he began to beg incoherently. He rubbed at it as Maul’s moans reached a fever pitch. He briefly hoped there were no Jedi still awake at this hour, or else they definitely would have heard.

Maul fisted the sheets almost to the point of tearing. His legs whirring in a desperate attempt to regulate. His chest mirroring the action, heaving in its attempt to keep up. He bent his leg without really thinking about it, bumping into Obi-wan’s arm and pushing his hand further into Maul. His hips lifted again to grind into that hand, momentarily forgetting the pain until it spiked again, sending him crashing back down onto the bed. The hand returned however, meeting him where he was. As if Obi-wan could deny him of anything.

The whirring kicked up a notch. Maul turned to hide his face in one of the pillows, biting down harshly, half-mad from all the stimulation. Lights in his cybernetic legs began flicking on and off of their own accord. Obi-wan was fascinated, he didn’t know if Maul even knew they were there. He twisted his hand again and Maul saw stars explode behind his eyes. He pushed his face into the soft plush of the pillow, trying desperately to muffle the loud moans as his pleasure reached its height.

There was a series of clicks and the whirring stopped, plunging the room into silence broken only by their ragged breaths. Maul removed his face from the pillow only to sling an arm over his eyes instead, breathing heavily through his nose. Obi-wan didn’t dare move, only now worried about pulling something out of place. He looked at Maul, taking in how his muscles relaxed, watching the rise and fall of his ribs. He followed the labyrinth of tattoos up to his face, surprised to see one amber eye peering at his from under his crimson arm. Maul smirked lazily at him.

“Staying there all night?” he purred. Obi-wan felt himself go bright red, slowly untangling himself from Maul’s pelvis. A deep sigh emanated from Maul as his tried to straighten his leg again. Sensing his struggle, Obi-wan gently reached out to help guide it back down, careful not to hold on too tight.

As his breathing returned to its regular rhythm, Maul took in how Obi-wan looked, blue eyes bright in the dim lit room. The sliver of moonlight peeking through their curtains made him look ethereal. Maul couldn’t help but think how lucky he was.

“Are you sure you don’t want me to take care of you too?”

“Oh- um,” Impossibly, Obi-wan managed to go even redder. Maul was worried he would pass out if it got any worse “I’m afraid that’s already been taken care of, my dear” he said as he looked away shyly.

“What do you-?” Maul took in Obi-wan more keenly now, eyes roving down until they landed on the wet patch forming in his pants. He couldn’t help but stare openly in shock, uncomprehending. Obi-wan cleared his throat, using the silence as an opportunity to escape.

“I’m just going to, um- clean up…” He mumbled as he shuffled across the room before hiding in the ‘fresher. Maul lay there completely still, half sat up, staring at the door he’d disappeared through. He blinked, trying to recover.

Several thoughts overtook Maul like a dam breaking, the main one being What? There was no way that had actually happened, right? But why? He hadn’t even touched himself, let alone let Maul get close? Then how- Oh…

Maul felt his face grow warm, the shock subsiding and allowing for one feeling to come into devastating clarity: That is so hot. He strained his ears, listening to Obi-wan shuffling in the ‘fresher before the door whooshed open. He looked a little more put together, but with a light blush still dusting his cheekbones.

Maul smirked, “Feeling better?”

Obi-wan cleared his throat again, avoiding eye contact as he padded over to the bed. He seemed intent on ignoring him, settling back into the bed like nothing had happened. Maul chuckled as he copied the action, turning to face Obi-wan as he pulled the sheets over them. He placed a gentle hand on Ob-wan’s cheek, leaning in to press a chaste kiss against his lips. Finally, his eyes flicked up to look back at him, blush coming back in full force.

“There’s nothing to be embarrassed about, my love. It’s a perfectly reasonable response to my devastating good looks” he teased. Obi-wan scoffed loudly, pushing him away in exasperation. The laughter bubbled up out of Maul as he tried to pull him in again, arms circled around his waist.

“You’re insufferable,” Obi-wan deadpanned “but with your pretty face I guess I’ll let you off this time”

“Oh, this time?” Maul grinned. Obi-wan simply pulled him in, smiling into the kiss.

They both settled in, bodies slotted against each other like puzzle pieces. Obi-wan watched as Maul’s tattooed complexion began to relax, sleep overtaking him. Just as he felt unconsciousness creep up on him too, a cool breeze cut through the room.

Obi-wan pulled the sheets up around them more, remembering suddenly the damned window still open. Just as he went to do something about it, he felt Maul’s wrist flick at his back, the window clicking shut in one smooth motion. Obi-wan could have sworn he was already asleep but glancing back he saw a small smile playing at Maul’s lips.

With the problem now solved, he placed a kiss to the tip of his nose, and Obi-wan finally let himself sink into a deep and restful sleep, the rise and fall of his chest in synch with Maul’s.

Epilogue:

Sunlight was streaming in though the large windows of the training room. Obi-wan was stood off to the side, watching as Maul walked Ahsoka through a number of saber techniques. He was periodically checking the time, waiting to see when his former apprentice would finally make an appearance.

Suddenly the door opened to reveal Anakin, hurriedly making his way over just as Maul and Ahsoka began sparring, putting her new skills to the test.

“And what time do you call this? Honestly Anakin.” Obi-wan said, as he tried to fight the smile that crept up automatically

“Sorry Master. I overslept, it won’t happen again” he said, eyes locked on the mat.

“Ah that’s okay. Happens to the best of us.” Obi-wan said good naturedly, already looking around the room for where to begin their own sparring session. “Did you not sleep well?”

Anakin paused before he looked him in the eye. “Um… well...” he stuttered, aborting the eye contact just as quickly. Obi-wan looked at him expectantly, patiently waiting for him to finish his sentence. Anakin visibly steeled himself before looking at him again “You know my quarters are just across the hall from yours, right?”

Obi-wan blanched just as a sharp yelp came from the mats in front of them. Ahsoka was crouched next to Maul who was rubbing the side of his head, apologies tumbling out of her mouth.

“I’m so sorry! I thought you would block that!” She said as she helped Maul to his feet.

“It’s alright. It’s alright,” he hushed, and met Obi-wan’s eyes across the room “I was just distracted for a second.”

Obi-wan went beet red as Maul settled back into an opening stance to begin again. He turned to look at Anakin again, who was giving him a sidelong glance.

“Yes, ahem, well… Let’s start over here, shall we?” It was Obi-wan’s turn to lock eyes with the mat now, turning sharply and marching away. Anakin followed laughing quietly. Honestly Obi-wan thought, who raised that boy?
