It's up to you to decide whether you want to keep seeing the older man as your fatherly figure, or take a shot at loving each other differently through compassion and resilience.

Seong Gi-hun x Gender-Neutral!Reader

COMPLETED: June 25, 2026

Notes:

Welcome to the last installment of GAME OVER. The Squid Game Dating Simulator and Visual Novel proposals!

This work may contain themes such as abuse, violence, and character deaths. This work will be a little bit darker than the other previous five proposals, and will also be the first and only work to be directly taking place from the main show rather than an alternate universe. Here, the games DID exist, and your character and Seong Gi-hun voted yes to be released from the Games after the first one went horribly.

Now it's up to you to survive out in the real world. Your former player number from the Games is all up to you to choose, except 001, 456, 067, 199, and 218. (your friends' numbers) There's also 101 and 212.

The reader (you) is gender-neutral, so throughout the story "they/them" pronouns will be assumed for the player, although they are free to customize their own appearance and shape their personality, etc.

Chapter 1: Introduction - Welcome

Chapter Text

Voting was your only way out of the Games. After nearly dying through movements in Red Light Green Light, you were saved by the bell: Mr. Seong Gi-hun and his newfound team of what you hope to be his allies and eventually yours. There's sweet and compassionate Pakistani immigrant Ali Abdul, badass North Korean defector and pro-pickpocket Kang Sae-byeok, and the cold and calculated Cho Sang-woo who also happens to be Gi-hun's childhood best friend.

With the vote counts in, you were one of those that pressed the red X button, wanting to leave. The voting was a success, and with majority on the X side, every surviving player was free to leave. It was unsure if anybody returned to the Games, but should there be a need to do so, the same card would be handed over to you. Call the number and meet up again on the same date and location, and you will return to the island.

You did not want to return there ever again, and neither did Gi-hun and his friends. Without a home to return to after already escaping your abusive family, Gi-hun offers to take you under his wing. While he still lives with his mother, he wants to help you too.

It's up to you both to find a way to survive out in the real world together without ever having to go back to the Games. With your newfound friends' help, you may just be able to rise back up.

That is, if your past doesn't catch up with you.
