Go Tell Aunt Rhody

Summary:

What would happen if the Eds instead of crashing in the middle of nowhere crashed on the Baker family swamp after escaping Peach Creek?
An AU to Big Picture Show.

Work Text:

It was a normal day at the swamp. The water was still and dark, surrounded by tall trees with moss hanging from the branches. Birds sat on the branches, singing their usual tunes while frogs croaked somewhere nearby. The air was warm, smelling of mud and withering plants. Sunlight peeked through the trees in some places, making patches of the ground shine here and there. Everything was quiet and still just like any other day in the area.

The calmness of a swamp was interrupted from it's complete silence when a wrecked up car came crashing down on the ground. There were three boys inside of the car. The biggest and the strongest of the boys, Ed, resumed to being the motor of the car but slowed down a little, knowing no one was chasing them now while the shortest of the boys, Eddy, looked over his shoulder to reassure himself that nobody was chasing them. It looked like they were in some kind of swamp. It was beyond him how they ended up here but it was better than the cul-de-sac.

"Ha! We lost them!" Eddy exclaimed happily as he shifted his gaze to the last member of their group who was a scrawny beanie wearing boy whom they called Double D.

"How can you be so certain, Eddy?" Double D asked, trying to regain composure as he looked like he was seconds away from having a panic attack.

"Those chumps'll never catch us now!" Eddy beamed, resting his feet on what was left of the steering wheel, "From here on out, it's nothing but smooth sailing!"

Eddy found out how wrong he was just a second later. No sooner had he finished bragging than Ed with his no sense of caution slammed the car into a tree. The impact shook the car violently as the car fell apart in an instant upon hitting the tree and the three Eds collapsed into different places. Ed wiggled his way out of the exhaust pipe. Not wasting any time, he made his way to the driver's side door where three familiar hairs were sticking out. Ed rolled Eddy up as if he was a window and then collapsed on the ground.

Eddy got up from the ground and yelled in Ed's face, "Way to go lummux! You couldn't just watch out?!"

"Gentlemen!" Double D called out from inside of the car as Eddy and Ed shifted their gaze to him to see Double D was trapped inside of the car. Their friend was trying to get himself free as he was wedged awkwardly between the bent metal and the shattered dashboard

Ed instantly rushed towards the car, "Double D!"

"Perfect! Just perfect! How could this day get any better!?" Eddy exclaimed in frustation as he walked over to the car to try to get Double D out of it.

"I got you, Double D!" Ed shouted as he pressed against the side of the car, trying to push the bent metal away from his friend

"Ed! Please! Be careful!" Double D told his friend, "Excess force may worsen the situation!"

Eddy crouched on the other side, "Come on, Double D! Don't just sit there, help us out a little!"

"Okay." Double D replied in understanding as he he carefully shifted his weight, trying to ease himself free without putting more pressure on the twisted metal.

Ed and Eddy continued with their attempts at prying the metal apart but the wrecked car wasn't moving even with Ed's strength. Both of them continued to put more pressure on the car with hopes of creating an opening for Double D as Double D carefully adjusted his position to help his friends a little before an opening for him to slip through was created. He wasted no time and climbed through the opening, finding himself out of the wrecked car along with his friends.

Double D shifted his gaze between his two friends, letting out a deep breath as he unleashed what was building up inside of him, "I've followed all the rules! Lived a life of decency and principle! So why didn't I trust my instincts? That one day these short-sighted sophomoric shell games would go too far!"

Ed hid behind Eddy at the outburst, "Double D's dark side makes my armpits sweat, Eddy."

"What doesn't?" Eddy asked, moving away from the smell.

"Lost souls are we, gentlemen, doomed for eternity!" Double D exclaimed, feeling like he was going to pass out as he collapsed on the ground.

"Lighten up, Sockhead. Hasn't Eddy always steered you right?" Eddy asked Double D, helping him up. Double D opened his mouth as he was about to answer to this question only for Eddy to cut him off, "Don't answer that."

"Oh, oh! If I might partake in this chat?" Ed exclaimed as he waved his hand as if he was in school. Whatever words he had in his mouth had died down when he glanced behind Double D and Eddy and saw something standing behind them.

Double D raised his brow, "Um, Ed?"

"Lumpy?" Eddy snapped his fingers in front of Ed's face to try to get his attention.

Ed kept looking behind them before waving his hand, "Hello! My name is Ed!"

"What are you doing?" Eddy asked in confusion as he and Double D looked in the direction Ed was pointing towards and saw two men standing in front of them. Double D opened his mouth, wanting to add something but whatever words he had in his mouth had died down when he saw what Ed saw.

The three friends saw two men standing behind them and watching them from the distance. The first man was a balding man in his mid 50's with glasses over his nose and while the second man was a man in his mis 20's with a hood over his head. The older man looked at them with a calm look on his face, studying the three boys in front of him while the younger man smiled at them, having his hands in his pockets. The three friends couldn't help but feel like there was something off about the younger man's smile.

The younger man kept his hands in his pockets, "Looks like she wasn't wrong about the noise."

"You boys hurt?" The older man asked as he stepped forward to the three friends and eyed them up and down.

Ed shook his head, "We are fine!"

"What are you three doing here?" The older man wanted to know. There was no suspicion in is tone. Just normal concern.

"We crashed." Ed explained, ponting towards the wrecked car on their side.

"Can you tell us where we are, sir?" Double D asked in a respectful tone. The older man smiled a little. He liked this boys tone.

Eddy nodded in agreement, "Yeah. We don't really know where we are now."

The older man smiled at them and quickly provided them with an explanation, "You're on my family's property."

Eddy raised his brow, "Your family owns this place?"

The older man nodded in confirmation, "It has for generations."

Double D looked at the man with an apologetic look, "I'm sorry if we're trespassing, sir."

"Don't worry, son. It's fine." The older man reassured Double D as she crouched down a little to met their eye level, "What are your boys names? I'm Jack. Jack Baker." He pointed at the younger man, "That man over there is my boy Lucas."

Lucas waved his hand lazily, "Hey."

Ed waved back immediately, "Hey, Lucas! My name is Ed!"

Eddy sighed, "We know. You said it like five seconds ago..."

Double D stepped closer to Jack and adjusted his hat, "It is a pleasure to meet you both, Mr. Baker, Mr. Lucas. My name is Eddward. But everyone calls me Double D."

Jack nodded with a look of approval on his face, "Polite kid."

"Thank you, sir." Double D smiled at him.

Eddy pointed at him, "I'm Eddy."

Lucas laughed, "Ed, Edd and Eddy? You three have the same name?"

"What a coincidence." Jack smiled warmly

Eddy rubbed his neck, "Yeah. We get that a lot."

Jack got himself back into a full standing position and pointed towards the wrecked car, "That's your ride, boys?"

Eddy groaned, "Unfortunely, yes."

Jack shifted his gaze between them with a questioning look on his face, "Why would children your age even get your hands on a car?"

Double D tensed up a little, "That's a long story."

"Yeah. Too long to say." Eddy added quickly, not wanting to add the detail of why he and his friends had to escape from their hometown to a recently met man.

Jack smiled at them, "Fair enough."

Lucas stepped closer to them with a questioning look on his face, "So what, you boys just wandering around the swamp in a broken car like it's normal?"

"Yes/No." Ed and Eddy replied at the same time. The two glanced at each other as Ed smiled proudly while Eddy facepalmed, letting out a groan.

"Alright. Doesn't matter now." Jack replied as he rasied his hand in a slow calming motion. He shifted his gaze between the three kids in front of him, "You're not gonna stay out here. Not safe. Swamp'll swallow you up if you're not careful. How about me and my boy will take all three of you to our house where you'll rest and clean yourself up. You three can stay in Lucas' old room during this as well."

Lucas deadpanned at him, clearly not a big fan of the idea, "Come on, old man. Can't you put them someplace else?"

"Lucas. You've outgrown that room a long time ago." Jack pointed out to his son, rolling his eyes. His expression warmed up when he shifted his attention back to the Eds, "What do you boys think? My wife Marguerite will prepare you something to eat and something to drink while my younger daughter Eveline will play with you. I'm sure she'll be happy to have someone her age around our house for once."

The three friends didn't give Jack an answer straight away as they exchanged glances with each other. Given their current circustamnces and them knowing they can't go back to Peach Creek anytime soon without getting beaten up by the other kids. A place like this would definitely help them come up with their next move as well even if Eddy already had an idea in his mind. Jack seemed pretty kind as well so they doubted he had any ill intention even if his son seemed a little off.

Eddy eventually nodded at Jack, "Okay. Take us to your place."

"Thank you for your hospitality, sir." Double D gratefully smiled at Jack.

"No problems, boys." Jack smiled back at him as he turned away from the three friends and motioned them to follow him and Lucas, "Come on. It's not too far from here."

The Baker estate sat there like it had grown out of the land instead of being built on it. It was a large property located in the middle of the swamp. The Eds admired the property as they slowly approached with with Jack and Lucas, trying to get the best possible first glance at it as they could. The place was so huge that couldn't even get a full look at it from where they stood and if they were to ever see the full estate, they would have to explore the insides of it.

They looked around their surrounding as well as they saw several places were connected to the estate. The most notable parts of their surroundings was an abandoned trailer standing not to close to the house. All three friends cringed a little at the view of this, getting reminded of the Kanker sisters while at the same time Double D and Eddy asked themselves why would the family have a trailer outside fo their house when they had a house.

They saw a barn standing next to the main house and the trailer as well and there wasn't much the three friends could say about this other than just it being a regular barn. There was a path leading further from the house as well but none of the friends had much to say about this because they couldn't see what was at the end of it. If they were to guess, the Baker family must been using it one way or another.

Jack pushed the door to his family estate opened and called out for his wife, "Marguerite! We're home! Eveline wasn't wrong. Something did crash close to our house and you're not going to believe me who I and Lucas just found."

Lucas didn't say anything as he followed his dad into the house and the Eds kept themselves silent as they walked into the house and looked around it. All of them immediately got hit with a strange smell upon entering it. If the three friends thought the place was large when they were outside, them seeing it from the inside just confirmed it to them. The room they were in right now was massive on it's own with a full decor with a table standing in front of it with a few chairs standing next to it.

The three friends looked up as well as they saw a massive staircase above of them. This staircase must have been leading them to the upper floor of the house. Not only that they saw a statue of a man standing in a small room in front of them and what immediately caught their attention about this statue was the fact that it was holding a shotgun. Eddy smirked at the view of it while Double D shrugged it of, convinced this shotgun must have been a prop.

Ed looked around the place with an amazed look on his face, "This house is huge! It could fit fourteen chickens and a submarine or maybe even a whole farm!"

Lucas snorted, "Just wait until you'll see the rest of it, kid. It's the best place to play around."

Ed shfited his gaze to Lucas, "You have stuff to play with here, Lucas?"

"Yeah. The best one." Lucas replied with a hint of sinister tone showing in his words, getting a scolding look from Jack because of the tone he used while talking about this as he continued to face ahead of himself. Neither Ed or any of his friends knew the young man had a sinister smile on his face right now as they continued to look around the place around them.

Double D adjusted his hat as he nodded to himself after taking one more look. From where he stood with his friends, he couldn't see anything else about this place other than one final small room on their left. He couldn't tell much about it other than it having a small statue standing on an elevation in front a projector while Eddy immediately noticed the expensive-looking decorations of this place, looking at all the furniture.

"Man, this place's gotta be worth a fortune." The short boy thought to himself, thinking about how many jawbreakers he'd be able to buy with all of this stuff. He'd probably even have them more than Kevin in his garage. Just then some heavy footsteps echoed from inside of the house before a woman emerged from the door on the right. She was tall with a dark green hair. She wore a white yellowish shirt stained with something and a short dress.

"What is it, Jack?" She asked her husband just a second before her eyes caught the sight of the Eds, "Oh my..."

Jack smiled at her and pointed at the three boys behind him, "Found these boys crashed out in the swamp. Poor kids looked half dead out there."

Marguerite stepped closer to them with a concerned look on her face, "Oh. They're all so young..."

"Yeah. I was suprised to see them myself." Jack admitted, "They crashed just outside of our house and me and Lucas saw them trying to free our of their friends from a wrecked car."

"Poor things." Marguerite shook her head and shifted her gaze to the Eds, "You boys must've been terrified."

Double D immediately nodded in confirmation, "It was certainly an unfortunate experience, ma'am."

"What important is that you don't have to worry about it anymore." Marguerite smiled at them, "My name is Marguerite Baker. What's your names?"

"It's nice to meet you ma'am. I'm Eddward, but you can call me Double D and those two are my friends. Ed and Eddy." Double D introduced himself Marguerite. Before anyone could react, quick footsteps went down the staircase. A small pale girl with messy dark hair who seemed around the Eds's age rushed down the steps and stopped next to Marguerite.

The girl immediately looked at the the new guests with curiosity evident on her face, "You brought friends?"

"Sure did, Evie." Jack smiled down at her before looking back at the Eds, "Boys. This is our youngest daughter. Eveline."

"Hello!" Eveline waved at the Eds excitedly as Double D raised his brow at the 'youngest daughter' part. Could this man Jack and his wife had more than one daughter?, "I heard your names! You really have the same name?"

Eddy nodded in confirmation, "We sure do."

"And that's weird as hell." Lucas added as he leaned against the wall.

Jack shot Lucas a scolding expression, "Lucas."

Lucas crossed his arms, "What? It's true."

Eveline smiled, "That's funny."

Marguerite shook her head, letting out a soft laugh before pointing in the direction she came from, "You boys must be starving after everything you've been through. How about you go relax somewhere in the house while I'll go prepare you something to eat and something to drink in the kitchen."

Jack nodded in agreement, "I already told them they can stay in Lucas' old room before the

"That would be awesome." Eddy replied, more than happy with the offer.

Double D rubbed the back of his head, "Thank you, ma'am. But are you sure about this? I don't want to abuse your hospitality and I'm sure neither do my friends."

"Sockhead..." Eddy whispered to Double D, elbowing him as a way of telling him to keep his mouth shut.

"Don't worry, Double D. It won't be a problem." Marguerite reassured Double D and shifted her gaze to Lucas, "Lucas. How about you'll take them to your old room while I'll get everything ready for them?"

"Come on, Lucas." Jack crossed his arms, "It ain't gonna kill you to help out."

Lucas muttered something under his breath before glancing toward the Eds, "Fine. Come on then."

"Do you have monster posters in your room, Lucas?" Ed asked as Lucas pushed himself off the wall and start to walk towards the staircase.

"No." Lucas replied as Ed followed him.

"Aw..." Ed replied with a disappointed look on his face as followed them while Marguerite left in the way she came from and Jack left with her, leaving Eveline alone. Eveline titled her head as she watched the Eds leave with Lucas, eyeing the three boys with an interested look on her face.

Double D and Eddy exchanged glances with each other as Lucas led them and Ed up the staircase. They reached the top of the staircase a few seconds later looked around themselves. The upper floor looked older than the downstairs area somehow as the wallpaper was peeling in places. Other than that, they saw two doors. One pair of doors was located on the left and the second pair was located on the right.

Lucas didn't say anything to them as he continued to led them towards his old room. He walked over to the doors on the left and opened it. He stopped in the doorway, gesturing for the three boys to keep following him before going inside as the Eds followed him. They joined him on the other side of the door and followed him further down the hallway for a second before reaching a single door.

"Here's my old room." Lucas explained as he grabbed the door handle and opened the door to his room. He stayed in the hallway, waiting for the boys to enter his old room.

Ed, Edd and Eddy wasted no time and walked into Lucas' old room while the hooded man stayed in the doorway to it. The three of them looked around themselves and the place looked exactly how they imagined a room of someone young look like even if the room didn't exactly fit with the styles of their old rooms. Eddy and Double D's styles in particular as Eddy found the place to be too childish while Double D found the place to be too filthy.

The room was colored in two colors. One color was green while the other one dark gray. The room was littered with with many stuff. From the kids stuff rom the furniture to everything else. Double D shook his head at the view of all of this as his mind instantly jumped to cleaning everythind up and labelling everything. However, he knew Lucas probably wouldn't appreciate if he did that.

"Here's my room. You better not break anything or steal anything because I'll notice." Lucas warned as the three Eds turned around to see the young man standing in the doorway. Eddy and Double D tensed up a little. The way Lucas looked at them right now was really off. Ed failed to sense it and continued with his usual behavior.

"You have my word, Lucas." Double D promised Lucas, "We shall respect your property."

Lucas stared at the three of them for a moment before shrugging, "Good enough for me."

Eddy crossed his arms and gestured to the room around him, "You really used to live here?"

Lucas nodded in confirmation, "Yes."

"This place looks like a tornado fought another tornado." Double D stated.

"I liked it that way." Lucas smirked as he turned away from them and started to close the door, "You three stay here. I have some shit to attend to. Daddy and mama should done preparing whatever they have in mind for you in no time."

The hodded young man closed the door before any of the Eds could reply to him. The three friends glanced at each other after being left alone in Lucas' room. The silence settled over the three of them as they found themselves alone with just each other for the first time since arriving at the Baker estate. As the silence between the three of them continued, all three of them decided to make the best of this silence and relax for a bit.

Several minutes had passed and Ed, Edd and Eddy were split up across Lucas' room. All of three of them occupied themselves with their own stuff while they waited for the time to pass. Ed sat cross-legged on the floor near the bed, entertaining himself with a pile of old toys he had discovered laying on the floor. Most of his attention was set on a old cube as he constantly tossed it on the floor, cheering whenever he landed six on it.

Eddy laid on the bed in the corner of the room, resting on it with his hands behind his head as he stared at the ceiling above him with a relaxed look on his face. If he was honest with himself, this place felt like Heaven compared to everything he had gone through while trying to flee Peach Creek with his friends and this moment of relaxation was honestly something he deserved after everything.

Double D stood in front of the shelf in front of Lucas' old bed, looking at the trophies. He shifted his gaze between all of them, trying to keep his mind occupied as he realized Lucas must have been quite a smart person. Most of his trophies came from science and robotics from the local fairs. Most of them were second and third places but that didn't make it any less impressive to Double D in his mind.

He shifted his gaze away from the trophies to the other side of the room shortly after and laid his eyes on what seemed like a notebook. If Double D were to guess, it must have been Lucas' journal or notebook. A part of him was curious on what was inside of it. But he didn't read it out of respect for Lucas' privacy. Whatever was inside of probably wasn't even that important other than Lucas' personal thoughts or ideas as well.

Him trying to keep himself occupied with this didn't work for long, though as he looked down at the floor and let out a deep breath, "Oh dear..."

"What's wrong with you, Sockhead?" Eddy looked at him from Lucas' bed as he sat up on it, leaving his feet hanging above the floor.

Double D shifted his gaze to him and stared at him like he had grown a second head, "Do you really need to ask me that, Eddy? What are we going to do now? You know we can't go back home and we can't stay here for the long term as we are already using their hospitality more than we should!"

"Oh, oh! If I might partake in this chat? Could we not joineth the circus? Eddy could be the world's." Ed joined the conversation, looking away from his cube as he got up into a standing position while raising his hand in the air like a student in the middle of the classroom. He wasted no time and grabbed this, making Double D recoil as he started to re-arrange Eddy's body.

"Hey, ow, stop! It doesn't go that way...!" Eddy complained to Ed in a pained tone as he was made to look like an elephant by his friend.

"...shortest elephant!" Ed declared, placing the re-arranged Eddy on the floor before pointing at Double D, "And you Double D can be the clown!"

Double D looked down with a thoughtful look on his face, considering the option, "I suppose one could get used to the confining nature of tights."

"Talk about stupid." Eddy stated with an unamused look on his face, making himself look normal again. He wrapped his arms aroiund his friends, forcing them to sit down on the floor in Lucas' room, "If we're goin anywhere, I know a place so out of the way, it's practically invisible."

"Dare I ask?" Double D asked, facepalming, "And...?"

Ed nodded in agreement, "Yeah, Eddy. And?"

Eddy clutched his friends closer, "And If any of those losers find us there, they'll be mailed back to Peach Creek in a body cast."

"Where are we going Eddy?" Ed wanted to know.

"My big bro's place!" Eddy replied with excitement evident in his tone.

Double D shot him a skeptical look. He never mat this famed idolized older brother of Eddy's, "Eddy, I have my doubts your brother would offer us sanctuary."

"Neither should the Bakers and look at us now!" Eddy pointed out to him, "Me and my brothers are connected like twins brain wave stuff! He's talkin to me right now! C'mon!

"Oh boy, oh boy!" Ed exclaimed, bouncing up and down in joy.

"He's waitin for us! After we'll leave this place, we'll head straight for this place!" Eddy pointed at the door to Lucas' room. Any further conversation between him and his friends was interrupted when someone knocked on the door. All of them looked at the doors, "What? Who is that?"

"It's me Eveline!" Eveline's voice sounded on the other side of it, "Can I come in?"

"Uh...sure, I guess." Eddy replied as the door was slowly opened and d Eveline peeked her head inside first before stepping into the room completely. She didn't look around the room and instead settled her eyes on them.

Eveline stepped closer to the Eds, looking genuinely excited to have someone around her around her for once as she started to circle around them with an excited look on her face. The young walked around the Eds slowly as if studying them. Despite her young appearance, there was something unusual in the way she stared at people. Not threatening exactly. It was just weird, leaving Double D and Eddy uncomfortable.

Eveline stopped in front of Double D a second later and pointed at his hat, "Why do you wear that thing on your head?"

Double D stiffened slightly. "Oh! Well, I-I simply prefer to keep it on."

"Even when you sleep?" Eveline tilted her head curiously.

Eddy smirked, "Especially when he sleeps."

Double D groaned quietly, "Eddy..."

Eveline blinked a few times before nodding, "That's weird."

"..." Double D opened his mouth, then closed it again, deciding not to make a debate out of it.

"I once slept standing up." Ed chimed in as he leaned closer to Eveline almost as if he was sharing some long kept secret with her.

Double D rolled his eyes, "Ed. Sleepwalking doesn't count as sleeping standing up."

Ed didn't asnwer to this straight away as he thought about Double D's words, "...Wait. So that means I'm not sleeping when I'm sleepwalking?"

"That's not what I meant..." Double D told him, rubbing the bridge of his nose as Eveline giggled at their interaction.

"What are you doing here?" Eddy asked as he turned away from Eveline and walked back to Lucas' bed to sit back down on it, "Did you come here to interrogate us?"

Eveline shook her head, "No. I just wanted to spend some time with you. I haven't seen someone my age around here in a long time."

Double D raised his brow, "Really?"

"Aren't you going to school or something?" Eddy asked with a confused look on his face.

Eveline shook her head, "Daddy and Mama are teaching me at home."

"I see." Double D replied in understanding. Eveline must have been homeschooled. That would explain why she was so excited to see them. She must have been yearning for some contact with people close to age in her. That almost reminded him of himself when he first moved to Peach Creek and met both Eddy and Ed with their bottomless Ed scam.

Eveline smiled at them, "Do you want to play with me?"

Double raised his brow, "Play with you?"

"I'll pa..." Eddy started to say only to be interrupted by Ed.

"Sure!" Ed smiled back at Evelina as he pointed at Lucas' cubes, "How about we'll play with the cube? Whoevers gets the most sixes wins!"

"A game? Okay." Eveline's eyes immediately lit up at the mention of the game as she and Ed moved closer to cube. Eveline picked up the cube and instead of throwing it on the floor and rolling it, she held it up near her face, studying each side with unusual focus, as if she expected it to change if she looked long enough.

Eddy raised his brow at her behavior, "Kid. Are you going to roll it or something?"

"You can calle me Evie..." Eveline told him as she lowered the cube and rolled it. It stopped a second later, landing on six.

Ed's eyes became filled with excitement, "Wow! She did it on her first try!"

Eveline smiled at Ed as their game continued. They rolled the cube countless times and Ed couldn't keep smilling, keeping his full attention on the cube whenever it hit the floor and cheering even when he didn't get six on it and Eveline acted as a complete contrast from him. The young girl kept herself calm, keeping her smile on her face as her results kept matching or beating Ed's turns.

Eddy and Double D watched everything from their own spots as they kept their attention on them, not having anything else to do right now. Double D kept his eyes on Eveline, seeing the eway she acted during the same and seeing the way Eveline acted almost mechanical in some of her moves and followed some kind of pattern. He couldn't help but sigh a little. This is how sheltered Eveline must have been from her peers.

"She did it again!" Ed cheered loudly when Eveline landed six again, "You're so great at this game, Evie!"

Eveline shfited her gaze from the cube to Ed, "Thank you. I like you Ed. You're very nice."

Ed smiled at her, "I like you too, Evie."

Eveline shifted her gaze to Eddy and Double D, "I like you two as well. Even if we didn't play much. Maybe we could play together in the future or you'd show me the other stuff we can do together."

Double D rubbed his neck, "I'm sorry, Evie but..."

"We will be leaving soon for my bro's place!" Eddy added as Eveline's expression twisted a little. The way her expression twisted send cold chill down Eddy and Double D's spines.

"I see." Eveline replied in understanding as her expression grew stone cold as she stepped away from her new friends and walked over to the doors, "I should check on daddy and mama. They should be done with the dinner soon."

Double D followed Eveline, "Eveline. Can I ask you something?"

Eveline stopped in her tracks and turned around to look at Double D, "What is it?"

"Your parents said something about your olders sisters earlier. Will they be joining us for dinner?"

Eveline's expression twisted a little again, "I have two older sisters. Mia and Zoe. Neither of them will be around for the dinner. Mia has been bad and isn't allowed to eat with us for now while Zoe just isn't around anymore."

"Alright. I understand." Double D replied in understanding. Something about the way Eveline said it and her tone when she brought up her older sisters really put him off.

"I'll get going. I'll see you three soon." Eveline replied as she walked out of the room, leaving the Eds alone in it.

Ed continued smiled as she closed the door behind her, "Evie is nice."

Neither Double D or Eddy answered him right away. Double D remained standing near the doorway, staring into the hall Eveline had disappeared into. His thoughtful expression slowly shifted into unease as he replayed the conversation in his mind. More specifically, the way Eveline's demeanor had changed the moment Eddy mentioned leaving or the way she spoke of her older sisters.

He adjusted his hat with a concerned look on his face, "That was rather concerning."

Eddy scoffed, "You think? Kid went from creepy-smiley to ice queen in like two seconds."

"It wasn't just that." Double D stated as he turned to Eddy, "Did you notice how she spoke about her sisters? Particularly Mia?"

Eddy shrugged, "Grounded kids get denied dinner all the time."

"..." Their attention was shifted back to the door as someone knocked on it. Marguerite's voice sounded on the other side of it a second later before she opened the door and walked into the room, holding a tray with three glasses of with some strange liquor on it, "Boys! It's me!"

Double D raised her brow, "Ma'am?"

"Is it dinner time?" Ed asked with an eager look on his face.

"Not now, Ed. But it's getting close." Marguerite smiled warmly at them as she presented the tray to them, "I thought I'd bring you something to drink first while my husband watches over it."

Ed raised his brow, "An appetizer juice?"

Marguerite kept her warm smile on her face, "Something like that, sweetheart."

"Cool!" Ed exclaimed as he grabbed one drink for himself and immediately gulped everything in one go, "Tastes funny..."

Eddy jumped off the bed and grabbed his own glass next, "Finally. Service around here ain't half bad."

"..." Double D stayed silent as he accepted the drink from the older woman. The syrup like smell of the liquor hit him when he brought it close to his mouth. The smell of it was weird. It smelt almost like a syrup of some kind. He pulled away the drink from his mouth with an uncertain look on his face.

Marguerite noticed his hesitation and smiled at him to reassure him, "Don't worry, honey. It's homemade."

"Okay. Thank you Mrs. Baker." Double D replied. Even if her words didn't reassure him that much, he didn't want to be rude. He lifted the glass up to his mouth again and took a long sip from his glass. The taste was strangely bitter beneath the sweetness, leaving an old after-taste in his throat. He smiled slightly at the older woman in front of him, "Thank you again. It was good."

"I'm glad you liked it, dear." Marguerite's smile grew when she saw all three boys took a sip from the drink, "I'm sure Eveline will very happy to find out you drank it. She really took a liking in all three of you, you know? Ed in particular. She doesn't get enough playmates in her age around here."

Ed smiled widely at that, "I like Evie too!"

"I'm sure she appreciates that very much." Marguerite replied softly as all of the Eds placed their glassea back on the trial, "Well, dinner should be ready soon. I'll come get you boys once everything is prepared."

She turned away from the three boys after this and walked out of the room while the Eds stayed inside. For a few seconds nothing happened other than Eddy going to Lucas bed and laying down on it. But then Ed looked around himself as he felt the area around him started feeling wiggly before he knew it and before he could say anything to his friends, he collapsed on the floor with his face facing the cold floor.

Double D immediately looked at him in concern, "Ed!?"

"What's wrong with you?" Eddy asked as he got off the bed. Something around him changed the moment he set hisf eet on the floor, "O-Okay. Something is weird."

"Eddy?" Double D raised his brow only for the dizziness hit him to next. His vision became more blurry as he felt himself growing weaker, "Oh dear..."

Double D didn't say anything else as his body finally gave up and he fell forward and landed on the floor. Eddy shared his fate shortly after as he fell backwards and landed against Lucas' bed. The three friends found themselves sleeping on the floor after this as the door to Lucas' old room was opened, revealing Eveline and Marguerite standing outside of it. Eveline stepped into the room while Margureite remained in the back.

Eveline stopped in front of the Eds and shifted her gaze between each of them with a smile on her face, "Welcome to the family, brothers..."

Here we go with the first chapter and the Eds fell rigtht into the Baker family trap...

I wrote the first chapter out of boredom and we'll see where everything will go from here as I have several ideas on what can happen in this story. I don't really have update schedule for it yet as well because I have other stories so for now it will likely be updating when I feel like it kind of deal.

An idea for a story like this first popped out in my mind after seeing the "What happened to the the stairs?" crossover meme between Ed Edd n Eddy and Resident Evil 7 and an idea for a story like this stayed in the back of my mind for all this time and was slowly reignited when I re-played the game recently.
