Work Text:

It was a beautiful, cloudless night. The sky was a dark blue, fading into a deep purple. The stars were shining bright in the sky, perfect to look at and admire. There was a soft breeze drifting through, and it was a cozy environment in general.

During this cozy night, the algabrilans were all sleeping peacefully at the Equation Playground. Well, all of them except for One and Three.

These two were sitting on a hill, stargazing. One had bought her telescope and was looking at the stars, eyes filled with wonder. She had always admired them, and would gaze upon them every chance she got. She was practically mesmerized by their beauty.

Three was laying just below her, eyes closed, one arm under her head, legs crossed. Her other hand, swiveling through the comforting grass, letting the breeze go through her.

One turned the telescope slightly to look for a constellation. She adjusted the telescope once more, until she was able to see it clearly, “Hey Three?”

The red algabrilan looked above, shifting slightly, “Yeah?”

“Come look at this!” One said, grinning like a little kid, pointing to the telescope with one of her legs, excitement in her eyes.

With a smile, Three got up and went to the telescope. She bent down slightly to look through. She looked for a moment, trying to find what her companion wanted her to see, until she gave up, “I don’t see it…?”

One excitement faded a bit, before quickly coming back. She pointed to the stars, “There.”

Three smiled again, albeit, a bit nervously, “I still don’t see it, heh.”

The blue alagabrilan playfully rolled her eyes, and started tracing it with her leg.

Three nodded, and looked back at the telescope. She looked at it closely, remembering the shape One traced, “Ohhhhh now I see it! What’s it called?”

“Orian. It’s one of my favorites.” The blue number said with joy she had never felt before. She was so happy to finally have a friend! After being ignored for so long, it feels good to know you have someone who cares.

Three hummed in response and kept looking. She then stepped away, grinning and grabbed One’s leg, and dragged her-as well as herself- down to the soft grass ground.

“H-hey!” The integer said in response.

The red number, ignoring what the other had said, hugged her, “Thank you for showing me this, One! I never knew the sky could be so beautiful!”

One blushed at this, though she didn’t know why. Then she softly chuckled, “N-no problem. I’m glad you're here.”

Three’s grin somehow grew wider, “Thanks for showing me the power, too! It was very nice of you to show me!”

One smiled, “Of course! You’re my friend! Just…please keep that a secret between us. Please?”

The other nodded, let the grass consume her. It was always very soft around late summer. “Now lay down with me!” She yawned, “I’m tired.”

One did what she was told and sighed. This was just what she had always wanted, to  be alone, with someone who cares; a friend.

The two laid in silence for a moment.

“What do you think the others are doing right now?” One asked, breaking the quiet.

“Not having as much of a good time as us!” Three responded.

One blushed for a second time that night.

“Aren’t the stars pretty tonight?” She asked.

“Yes, very.”

Three rested her head on One’s shoulder, “Good night, One”

One looked at her, then at the sky. She smiled warmly, then looked back at Three,

“Good night…friend.”
