“And you’re sure you’re comfortable down there,” Sally asks, unable to contain a giggle at the end.
Amy nods with a mouth full of popcorn. She’s sitting on a bean bag and nestled in between some cushions and an inordinate amount of throw blankets. Her back is against the door to Sally’s bedroom, keeping it firmly shut. After swallowing she confidently announces, “Yes, absolutely. I’m perfectly cozy down here and I know, for sure, that no one is getting through me to drag you away on your night off,” before stretching out her legs to emphasize how comfy she is.
“But if there’s an emergency you’ll let me leave, right?”
“No way. You’re staying here.”
“But the knights…”
“The knights will just have to make a decision on their own for once.” Amy huffs and crosses her arms, “They can figure it out. I’m not giving up movie night with my girlfriend again. I’m only letting you out if the castle’s on fire.”
Sally chuckles. It has felt like every time she’s been called for help lately it’s something the kingdom could really have handled without its overworked leader.
“Alright. One more question.”
“Shoot?”
“Can I join you down there?”
