Work Text:
Coyote's tail wagged apprehensively as Amdi formed a crescent around it, the sixsome's eager eyes brimming with excitement. It was fitting, in a way. Those eyes were the last thing many prey creatures had ever seen, and soon, they'd be the last thing Coyote would witness as a lone entity.
The crescent was shrinking as Amdi's members drew closer and closer. The noise of their their 'mindnoise' was a buzzing, rippling river washing up and down the spectrum of audible frequencies, some peaking high enough that Coyote could only feel the vaguest impression of them as they tickled its eardrums. Soon, it'd be able to hear the entire range of mindnoise. Not only that, it'd be able to understand it, be a part of Amdi, share in and contribute with the thoughts of the pack. Coyote held itself still, heart pounding as Amdi began tripping over themself to get at it. Usually, the pack moved with uncanny coordination as the various members acted as one unit, using their maws as grasping paws. Sometimes, if they were particularly excited about something, that cohesion began to show cracks. This was one of those times; Amdi's members were jostling against one another, parts of the pack holding the rest of themself back to avoid overwhelming Coyote in a single, unified pounce.
A firm nose bumped into Coyote's side, then another, knocking it over. Coyote whimpered faintly as the pack finally surrounded it, its senses swamped with Amdi's scent, warmth, and that eerie, thrumming mindnoise. Maws, firm and gentle, closed in on Coyote's twitching leg, holding it in place while another member lay behind it, providing a nice spread of soothing comfort to contrast the feeling of another's teeth.
Coyote's pelt began to prick and tingle as Amdi's mindnoise sank deeper and deeper into its flesh and bones, the pack's excitement driving the range of frequencies higher and higher until Coyote only sensed them as a full-body fizzing. Itchy spots blossomed on its head and shoulders as its flesh began to change in response to Amdi's thoughts. Its fur began to shed as the itching spread outwards, taking on the shape of the tympana on Amdi's assorted members. The all-encompassing mindnoise sounded increasingly clear to Coyote as its new sound-absorbing organs took shape, buzzing in sync with Amdi's thoughts, reaching higher and higher up the spectrum, funneling the sounds through freshly-grown nerve endings straight into and up its spine, right into the base of Coyote's brain.
The transforming singleton's nervous panting started to distort as its vocal chords reshaped themselves within its neck. Reflexive chirps and gobbles joined its whimpers until it was mimicking Amdi's own noises, unleashing its own undisciplined attempts at mindnoise. Amdi squirmed at the new presence among their midst, but held firm. Any new member took time to get used to; this would especially apply for a member who was new to actually being a Tine in the first place.
Coyote twitched and writhed as its body reacted to thoughts and impulses that were not its own, flowing unfiltered into its tympana. The itching was fading as the transformation neared its completion. The last and furthest reaches of mindnoise were being tuned in, until at last, all of Amdi's mindnoise was audible to Coyote.
Images that were little more than dappled blurs were dancing across the foreground of its mind, splintering its vision into a kaleidoscope of disjointed points of view. There were a cluster of moving shapes in a sea of green, viewed from a distance. There was a white, tan and brown canid shape that it belatedly recognized itself. It craned its lengthening neck, trying to figure out which of Amdi the image was coming from. It made blurry eye contact with itself, watching through another’s eyes as the last of its nose was covered with soft fur, the nostrils spread apart, the faint sheen of dampness gone.
Thoughts, sensations, memories and more flowed unimpeded throughout Amdi as they thrummed with delight. Slowly they released their grip on their newest member, wagging happily as Coyote carefully sat upright. With so many new viewpoints in its head, it had to rely even more on the sensations from its inner ear for balance, lest it try to right itself according to another body. The newly minted member was unsteady, their mindnoise a bit too harsh and loud, but that was nothing that couldn't be soothed over with practice. Another of Amdi's members went nose-to-nose with the newly minted Tine, weaving his head back and forth, a method used for training new pups to react to mindnoise. Coyote mirrored the motion, or at least tried to. It was just a half-second too slow, allowing the male to dart forward and lick its head. Laughter rippled through Amdi, Coyote's unfamiliar gobbling joining in with the rest of the pack's voice.
Laughing and singing, Amdi's members finally closed in fully on themself, nuzzling and scenting and licking their newest part, mixing its scent into their own. Tongues danced on tender tympana, the taut and leathery flesh vibrating in sync as it was bathed in new levels of sapience. Having a new mind added to oneself could be both exciting and scary, but the same could be said of any intimate relationship. The risk was well worth the rewards, rewards that Amdi was eager to reap as their explorations traveled lower on the new member’s body, curious muzzles nuzzling between their new hindlegs...
