Work Text:
Kara walked into the bar dressed in a black mini dress that hugged her curves, and let her hair down. She walked with an air of superiority, and coldness that was the antithesis of her usual self. Winn and James watched her walk over not quite sure what to make of the shift in their friend.
“Hey! Wow.” Winn calls out as she reaches them. “Hey, look at you. Wow” Winn comments, genuinely loving the look on her. James looks her over, nodding approvingly at the dress; a little frazzled.
“Yeah, that’s what I was going for.” She says looking directly at James basically ignoring Winn. He chuckled awkwardly looking between the two. “You want to dance,” Kara asks. Her entire vibe was intense, like saying no would be a bad idea.
“Uh, yeah, yeah.” James answers a little stunned from her entrance. Kara grabs his arm roughly, and pulls him to the dance floor. “Oh! Kara, whoa, whoa, hey, hey!” James can’t break her too tight grip as she pulls him along.
Kara immediately starts dancing against him. “I love this song.” Kara says practically against his ear.
“It’s a good song.” He says with a surprised chuckle at how openly flirtatious she was being. Her intense gaze returned as they danced together, Kara gently wrapped her arms around his neck pressing herself against him.
“You okay?” He asks, starting to get concerned.
“I’ve never been better.” Her voice was seductive as she leaned in.
“Maybe we should, um…” He quickly tried to turn down the flirting and remind her about Winn. “Let’s go have a drink with Winn real quick.” He offers uncomfortable leaving him alone at the bar.
“No, no.” She placed her hands on his shoulders and pulled him back so she was in control of their dancing. “Why would I get a drink when I’m finally getting what I want?” She almost kissed him, but instead pulled him in to whisper in his ear. “What I want… is what the poor man’s Lois Lane was too idiotic to keep.
“What are you doing?” James asks, genuinely upset with her behavior. “Yo, that’s not you, come on!” She just laughs at his anger. “Come on, man!” James turns to walk away and she roughly grips his arm pulling him back towards her; She nearly dislocates it.
“Don’t walk away from me.” She looks into his eyes with that same intensity. “You need to get her out of your head, James.” She pulls him in again barely an inch from his lips. “Lucy was a clingy, insecure daddy’s girl, who was afraid and jealous of your-”
“Kara, stop.” James whispers, afraid, uncomfortable, and angry all at once.
“I’m done pretending.” She pulls off her glasses and quickly takes them.
“What are you doing? Stop it!” He stage whispers as he puts them back on her face gently. His phone rings in his pocket and Kara looks like she was interrupted. “It’s my phone.” He turns away to answer. “It’s Cat.”
“Oh Why don’t you just tell her to get back in her little box and leave us alone?” James scoffs at her, completely done with her awful behavior.
“Ms. Grant.”
“I need to talk to Supergirl. Press your silly watch, or whatever it is, and send her here now.” She hangs up, and Kara is already gone.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Instead of going to meet Cat like she was supposed to Kara decided she was done taking orders from the Media Mogul, and instead was going to go find someone else to share the night with since James decided he wanted to reject her advances, so fuck him. She walked into an upscale hotel bar; much less noise, but more likely to find someone to get back at James with; someone who would be worth her time.
She delicately sits on the bar stool next to a beautiful woman who glances at Kara for a second before sitting up and locking in on Kara. She looked at Kara for several long seconds. Lena thought about how much the woman next to her looked like Supergirl; Her brother having tried to kill her, the anti alien sentiments in her home, and just being genuinely lonely made Lena’s crush on the Superhero make sense. And the woman next to her was just as muscular, a similar height and blonde, which was enough for Lena to decide she wanted her even if it was just for the night.
“You are gorgeous.” Kara says looking Lena up and down. Kara could see, and hear the woman’s reaction to her appearance. The woman had a few too many drinks already, and was subsequently letting the alcohol and her libido make bad decisions.
“I could say the same about you.” Lena offers slurring slightly. “What brings you here?” She asks, genuinely surprised that someone built like a Greek hero would be here dressed so provocatively.
“I came to find some good company.” Kara offered leaning towards her slightly. “Does that sound like something you’d be interested in?” Kara offers and Lena swallows nervously. Some distant part of her knew this wasn’t safe, or wise.
“What kind of company are you interested in?” Lena asks, leaning towards her slightly not close enough to be obscene. Kara reaches out and caresses her inner thigh. “Would you like to come up to my room?” Lena immediately adds. Something about the woman in front of her drew Lena in, and something about her own loneliness and drunkenness made that an easy question to ask.
“Yeah?” Kara asks, pushing her hand up Lena’s skirt while the woman looks at her, like she’s an oasis in the desert.
“I…” Lena swallows hard looking at Kara with hunger and a need for closeness. “Please…” Lena begs softly, and with a smirk Kara stands up.
“Lead the way…” Kara whispers against her ear.
Once in her room, Kara pushed her roughly against the door locking lips with her. Lena moaned into her bucking her hips against the woman, literally begging for her touch. She takes both her hands pressing them against the door, her leg coming to rest between her thighs.
“Fuck…” Lena panted, while Kara nipped and sucked on her neck creating a deep hickey in an extremely visible spot that would be hard to cover. Kara looked at it satisfied, before picking her up without an ounce of trouble and dropping her on the bed roughly. Kara takes off her glasses, setting them on the night stand. Lena watched her with immense focus, her brain fogged by lust. Kara kneeled at the end of the bed and yanked Lena to her without any preamble.
“I’m going to taste you.” Kara explains her tone almost lovingly, as she gently kisses down her thigh. Lena watches with bated breath enjoying the show. “Then I’m going to take you, and make you beg me to stop when it feels too good.” She spoke so reverently. “I love making people beg.” She ripped Lena’s underwear at the seem not caring about showing off her powers.
“Fuck.” Lena wants to beg her to start, but is also enjoying the view. “I want you.” Lena was biting her lip now, her breathing uneven.
Kara smirked before diving in slow long strokes first making sure to take in her taste. She moaned into her lower lips savoring the favor. Lena’s breathing became quicker, as Kara’s speed and pressure increased. Kara gripped Lena’s thighs hard enough to leave bruises and keep her moving away from her touch.
“Superigrl…” Lena moaned gripping the sheets on either side of her. Kara glanced up at her for a split second, and smirked picking up the pace immensely, her tongue vibrating. Lena let out a surprised yelp and her hips bucked at the sudden vibration against that bundle of nerves. “Fuck me!” She screamed out her moans louder and more needy then she would ever have let a stranger hear. “My god.” She bites her lips trying to keep quiet and Kara glares at her stopping immediately.
“I want to hear ever fucking whimper and moan.” She orders and Lena nods quickly; she had been right on the edge when Kara stopped and was starting to lose it.
“Please. Don’t stop.” Lena’s tone made it clear it wasn’t a request, but a need.
“I want you to set yourself free for me.” Kara repeats before licking her thumb and letting it vibrate against her throbbing clit once more. Lena gasps her hips bucking again, but without Kara keeping her in place she takes herself off of it. “I will give you the release if you…” she kisses her hip. “...just give in to me.” Lena nods enthusiastically at the woman. “Good.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kara woke up with the sun like she did most days. If she doesn’t set an alarm she always wakes up at sunrise. Lena was dead asleep, which brought Kara great satisfaction. She was always like this as a lover, something one of her past conquests called a pleasure domme. She never looked into it, or cared because she needed to control the sex, not just for her enjoyment, but for her partner’s safety, if she got too excited before getting them off she would hurt them as she got more into it.
She slid from the bed, and grabbed Lena’s purse off the floor; finding her cell phone. She used Lena’s thumb to unlock her, and took a picture of herself in the full length mirror naked and legs spread on the ground. She decided not to give the woman her number, or name, but left her a picture to remember her by. She smirked as she set the provocative photo as Lena’s new phone background.
“I wore you out.” Kara mumbled to herself wishing she had brought her strap to use on the woman. She sets the phone down on the nightstand beside Lena’s sleeping form, and closes her eyes. She focused on her breathing and heartbeat; the steady sound of someone she cared about’s heartbeat was soothing to her anxious heart. ‘Someone she cares about?’ Kara flies that information away, maybe she’ll find the woman again someday. Kara isn’t awful, so she left a note admitting what was obvious now, that she, the woman who didn’t offer her name, was Supergirl.

The Venture explosion brought the Kryptonians together. More importantly it brought them to Lena Luthor, the sister of Clark’s enemy Lex Luthor. Kara didn’t know much about the Luthor’s, and certainly didn’t know he had a sister, as she used to try extremely hard to stay out of anything that might have made her want to use her powers. Had to stay away from Clark, or risk them both being discovered.
Kara followed Clark into the new Luthor Corp headquarters. Lena had apparently started the move right after her brother went to jail to help rebuild what he destroyed. Lena was stepping into the elevator, and Clark made it his mission to catch the door before it closed. Lena’s expression went through several almost imperceptible micro expressions when he gave her a tight smile, climbing into the elevator with her with Kara on his heels.
“Ms. Luthor.” He nodded to her and Kara said nothing while staring at the woman. The ride up was almost embarrassingly quiet for several long seconds.
“You are early.” Lena comments, keeping her eyes forward as they rise up in the confined space.
“Well, you know what they say; if you’re early you’re on time, if you’re on time you’re late, and-”
“Late is unacceptable.” Lena finishes. Her father made that one of his life mottos. “I assume you are here to question me on why I wasn’t on the Venture.” It wasn’t a question, it was a statement of fact. She glances at Kara, unspoken emotion flashed across her face and she turned back to the door as it opened. She quickly walks back to her office.
“You have a reason for not being on board yesterday.” He asks as soon as the doors open.
“There is a perfectly reasonable explanation for why I wasn’t on the Venture yesterday.”
“Well that’s why we’re here.” Clark offered, in a friendly manner.
“There was an emergency regarding planning for a ceremony I’m holding tomorrow.” She hangs up her coat not looking at them. “I’m renaming my family’s company tomorrow. I had to cancel.” She explains and turns towards the two of them.
“Ah, lucky.” Clark said dismissively. And Lena laughed at his rudeness.
“Lucky, is Superman saving the day.” Lena counters.
“Not something someone expects a Luthor to say.” Clark says in a slightly condescending tone. Kara looks at him surprised for a second before jumping in.
“Right, and Supergirl was there too.” Lena really looks at her for the first time since their night together, and Kara finally recognizes her, but Lena already had and looked mildly impressed with the woman.
“And who are you exactly?” Lena asks while Kara tries to process that she slept with Lena Luthor. Clark nudged her slightly.
“Uh, I’m Kara Danvers. I’m not with the Daily Planet. I’m with CatCo Magazine. Sort of.” She rambles slightly not sure how to act anymore.
“It’s a publication not known for its hard-hitting journalism.” Lena looks amused and watches as Kara’s eyes turn soft watching her every move. “More like ‘high waisted jeans, Yes or no?’” Lena enjoyed the way Kara was watching her, especially now that they both knew who the other one really was, now that she knew who Supergirl was outside of the suit.
“I’m, uh, I’m just tagging along today.”
“Right.” Lena turned back to Clark, her expression hardening slightly. “Can we just speed this interview along? Just ask me what you came here to ask me, Mr. Kent. Did I have anything to do with the Venture explosion?” She turns to her paperwork pen in her hand.
“Did you?” He asks, staring her down without an ounce of fear, or uncertainty.
“You wouldn’t be asking me if my last name was Smith.”
“But it’s not. It’s Luthor.” His face holds a tight smile, and his voice holds steel. Kara looks at him again, clearly uncomfortable with how he’s talking to her.
“Some Steel under that Kansas wheat.” She smirks at him slightly before replacing her mask and answering the question. “It wasn’t always. I was adopted when I was four.” She turns her gaze to Kara as if speaking directly to her instead. “And the person who made me feel most welcome in the family was Lex. He made me proud to be a Luthor.” Her voice turned sad thinking about it. She turned towards the window to hide her face from them. “And then he went on his reign of terror on Metropolis. Declared war on Superman. Committed unspeakable crimes.”
Kara kept her eyes on Lena the whole time the plan to x-ray the room, gone from her head, as the woman speaks of something clearly painful. Kara couldn’t look away, or risk the feeling of abandoning her.
“When Superman put Lex in jail I vowed to take back my family’s company, and rename it L-Corp. Make it a force for good.” She was looking into Kara’s eyes again. “I’m just a woman trying to make a name for herself outside of her family. Can you understand that?”
“Yeah…” Kara agrees with a small comforting smile. A smile that says; I understand, and believe you, even if no one else does. They hold eye contact, both feeling understood in a way that was hard to describe before Lena looked back to Clark.
“I know why you’re here.” She moves to her feet heading for the stack of USB drives on a table against the wall. “Because a subsidiary of my company made the part that exploded on the Venture. This drive contains all the information we have on the oscillator.” She hands it to Clark without a second thought looking for a chance to save her father’s company. “I hope it helps you in your investigation.
“Thank you.” Clark says after a few seconds a small, but genuine smile on his face.
“Give me a chance, Mr. Kent. I’m here for a fresh start. Let me have one.” He nods almost imperceptibly.
“Good day Ms. Luthor.” He turns and walks away.
Kara is emotionally torn between leaving with her cousin and staying. She quickly hands Lena her cellphone. Lena stares at it for several long seconds before taking it with a small smile and adding herself as a contact. No words were exchanged, but they both understood that this was an invitation for something. Though Kara wasn’t sure what it was an invitation too.
“Good day.” Kara offered softly before taking her phone and following the man out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kara had immediately texted Lena once they were on the street so she could have her number too.
K: Hey! This is Kara!
She immediately sent a second text, nervous about the first one.
K: No pressure, just making sure you can contact me when you decide that you’re ready to talk about stuff.
“I didn’t see anything when I X-rayed the room.” He explains and Kara decides to ask him his opinion.
“Can I talk to you about something?” She asks softly. James told her that Clark knew about their flirting and that they had a date scheduled.
“What’s up?” He asks, sounding concerned.
“I decided not to keep seeing James.” She said softly so only they could hear. “We’re going to stay friends.” Kara says holding back as much information as humanly possible.
“You two have talked about this?” Clark asks her gently.
“Yeah, we talked yesterday after I got back.” Kara explains nervously.
“I thought you both really liked each other?” Clark didn’t sound disappointed, or upset, but he was a little confused.
“Durring the Red incident…” She spoke carefully so only he would understood. “Basically everything I did was because of it, but I met someone when I got mad at him for not wanting me, and we…” She paused with a slight blush. “I went up to their hotel room, and I didn’t leave until morning.” She adds, taking a deep breath. “I haven’t been able to stop thinking about how I just left him at a moment’s notice.” She explains having told all of this to James already so he understood. “I don’t feel bad about sleeping with them. I feel bad because I don't feel bad. James and I had something romantic going that was vaguely a relationship, and then Lucy, and then…” Kara looked at Clark.
“You don’t need to explain anything to me, Kara. You and James weren’t dating, and you didn’t do anything wrong.” Clark offers and wraps a brotherly arm around her. “It’s going to be okay. If you and James aren’t meant to be that’s okay. I hope you and your mystery guy work out so I can meet him.” He says giving her a loving squeeze.
“Thanks Clark.” Kara didn’t have the courage to explain that it was a woman, and even less to utter the name Luthor. She felt almost worse after telling him the half truth than without saying anything.
Superman, and Supergirl were together when Kara got the call from Alex.
“Lena Luthor was the target, not the perpetrator.” Kara took off back to the soon to be L-Corp and Clark followed soon after having heard Alex through the phone.
They arrived in time to stop the first wave of bullets from the drones. They stayed between the drones and the helicopter. The pilot doesn’t even think about setting it back down; instead he keeps it in the air for more maneuverability, to hopefully keep them both alive.
“I thought you two would show up. You spoil all the fun.” He sounded genuinely sad they ruined the easy kill.
“You know, if you were expecting us to show up, you really should have brought something a little more powerful.” Superman taunts the man, and Kara glances at him not liking that comment at all.
“I did. I brought my wits. I’ve drones planted throughout the city, targeting civilian populations as we speak. Your choice, aliens. Innocent civilians, or the chopper?” He sounded so smug as another drone arrived as backup.
“Go! I got the chopper.” Kara orders and Superman nods, taking off to defend the civilians. She hits the one closest to her with her heat vision taking it out with ease. As Superman is fighting off the other drones.
The second drone sends a missile at the helicopter which Supergirl stops by throwing herself in its path. Lena felt the shockwave and watched Supergirl fall to the roof of her building seemingly out cold. The pilot began defensive maneuvers managing to keep from getting hit for several precious seconds before Supergirl fly threw the drone destroying it instantly.
Supergirl grabbed the helicopter by the landing skid and forced it back to the roof. Lena was incredibly pale when Supergirl opened the door to turn off the engines.
“You’re safe now.” Kara offers as she examines the pilot.
“What the hell was that?!” Lena was frantic and her hair was a mess.
“Someone’s trying to kill you.” Kara explains and pulls the pilot out of his chair. Clark lands next to her. “Can you take him to the hospital?” She asks him and he almost protests, but the look in her eyes makes him shut up and take the man away.
Kara opens Lena’s door and offers her hand to the woman.
“Let’s get you inside and safe so I can check you over.” Kara offers, her voice gentle. Lena takes it in shock from the fear and trauma of the event that just took place. Kara helps her down only for Lena’s legs to give out. Kara carries her back into the building and down the roof access stares to the executive offices floor. The moment they are safely back in Lena’s office Kara lowers her onto one of the couches that was clearly for meetings.
“Ms. Luthor, I need you to breathe for me.” Kara’s voice was soft and reassuring. Lena followed the advice, taking in a slow, yet shaky breath. “Please keep breathing.” She pleaded and Lena’s breathing and heart rate lowered closer to her normal still elevated, but adrenaline will do that to a person.
“You can go.” Lena tells her dismissively, once she’s calmed down enough to not need to think about breathing.
“I have nowhere to go, not yet anyway.” She adds her face, and voice soft. Lena looks into her completely sincere eyes for several long seconds. Kara feels the tension, and notices the glance at her own lips. Her tongue flicks out to wet her own, and Lena surges forward. She needs the closeness, Kara tells herself. She needs this, she reassures as she kisses back longingly.
Lena’s kiss was rough and needy, while Kara tried to keep things at the kiss.
“Take me.” Lena begs and Kara pulls away just enough to stop Lena from kissing her again.
“I can’t…” Kara let out a shaky breath of her own. “Not right now, at least.” She gripped Lena’s thigh where she had left her mark a month ago. “Right now, I need to make sure you’re okay.” She presses their foreheads together, closing her eyes. “Do I have your consent to use my X-ray Vision on you?” Lena just stared at her for several long seconds.
“You aren’t like you were that night.” Lena comments unsure of how to feel about it.
“No.” Kara answers looking away. “I…” She trailed off. “Did you hear about the day I went crazy?” She asks genuinely hurt by the memories.
“Of course I did.” Lena says surprised. “I saw you destroy a police car.”
“I was under the influence of a radioactive material that someone designed to hurt me, but it turned me… evil.” Kara was clearly upset, and physically pulling away from Lena. “I didn’t hurt you, and I am glad, but when we were together I was under the influence of Red Kryptonite, and I had just hurt one of my best friends before finding you.”
“My brother talked about Kryptonite, but I’ve only heard of green.” Lena looks deep in thought.
“It was synthesized in a lab, and they didn’t get it right, what was created made me evil instead of hurt me.” Kara looked at Lena thinking over what she was told. “I genuinely wanted you that night. I want more than just your body Lena.” Kara adds seriously.
“A Super and a Luthor.” Lena chuckles, suddenly exhausted. “Who would have thought?” Lena comments before taking a deep breath. Kara’s communicator goes off ‘911’.
“Are you okay if I go?” Kara asks gently again. “My government people are calling me.” Lena smiles at her softly.
“Go. I can’t keep you all to myself, can I?” Lena jokes and Kara smiles at her fondly.
“I’ll come by when we have more information.” Kara promises and kisses her forehead gently.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Lena, we haven’t caught him yet.” Kara was in civilian clothes and wearing her suit underneath. “I don’t think it’s a good idea to go through with this.” Kara was practically begging her not to go through with this.
“I know, but I have to Kara.” Lena doesn’t elaborate, and doesn’t stop as she makes her way out of the building and towards the stage. Kara falls into step with her.
“Why though? Why can’t this wait?” She was genuinely worried for the woman.
“Because I need to save my company, and setting all of this up was extremely costly. Changing our HQ, our name, so many expensive legal, tax issues.” Kara walks with her frowning, but understanding nonetheless.
“My brother’s serving thirty-two consecutive life sentences. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised there isn’t a bigger turn out.” Lena jokes and Kara looks at her with genuine worry.
“You’re taking an awful risk, going ahead with the renaming ceremony while your life’s in danger.” Kara tries one more time.
“I won’t have a life if I can’t make this company into something positive. All it will be remembered for is Lex’s madness.” Kara watches her. Kara understands, she really does, Lena is trying to do what she thinks is right. Kara can’t help, but worry that it won’t be worth it.
“I want to thank you all for coming.” Lena begins her speech. “My brother hurt a lot of good, innocent people. My family owes a debt, not just to Metropolis, but to everyone. I intend to pay that.” She takes a small calming breath no one, save Kara, seemed to notice. “By renaming my company L-Corp, we will usher in a new age of cooperation and community. Together, we will chart a brighter future.”
A large explosion goes off behind her destroying the old Luthor Corp sign and sending people flying. Kara took off switching to Supergirl mode as more explosions took over the stage and surrounding area. Soon the building begins to blow and pieces of rain down on the civilians below. She barely stops a chunk from hitting James and an injured woman.
“Go!” She orders as he helps the woman get up and out of danger. The building starts to tip and fall apart like it plans to fall. Kara flies up barely holding it together.
Superman joins her in keeping the build up right.
“You’re late!”
“There was really bad traffic.” He retorts, helping her hold it in place.
“Winn!” Kara calls for help.
“Kara, Corben took out the southwest retaining column. Basically he targeted the buildings one weak point. Just like that perfectly placed shot to take out the death star.” That annoyed Kara so much more than it usually would have.
“I don’t need a Star Wars reference right now, Winn. I need a plan!” She was kind about it, but made it clear she needed help.
“If you repair the column the build should hold.” J’onn offers and Winn looks at him with the genuine realization he should have started there.
“Repair it with what?” Kara asks, unable to even move at the moment while they work on a plan. She spots steel I beams on the ground and comes up with a plan.
“I’m gonna fix the building.” Kara says suddenly.
“Go, go! I got this.” He says taking the wait of the entire building while Kara flies off to try and fix the column. She grabs a stack of the I beams heading into the building. She moves with Superspeed placing the I beams all around the column to support it before melting everything into place with her heat vision.
Almost instantly the building stopped shaking and she took a much needed deep breath to accept the worst was over. She flew out to look for Alex, and Lena to make sure they had gotten away safely. Only to see Corben holding a gun on his sister. She landed several feet away with Alex between them. She was terrified she'd hurt him if she touched him right now, afraid of her own rage. The second he registered her, he grabbed Alex pulling her into him to hopefully use her as leverage.
“Let her go!” Kara ordered her voice full of rage.
“Are you gonna let me get out of here?” He asks and Kara steps towards him, her eyes boring into him.
“Lex Luthor hired you to kill his sister, didn’t he?”
“Luthor still has resources and reach, even rotting in maximum security lockdown. Now I’m leaving and there’s nothing-” A gunshot caught him off guard. The bullet went straight through him, it was seemingly perfectly timed to when Alex tried to escape.
Lena watched him not lowering her weapon. She kept it trained on him, her face full of fear and fury. Kara was looking at her with an unreadable emotion. Lena stayed there a slight shaking in her hands.
“Bullet went through-and-through, but he needs a hospital. Nice work Supergirl.” She said holding pressure on the exit wound. Kara started walking towards Lena slowly.
“I had help.” She glances over her shoulder to where Superman was floating over them. She reaches out and gently lowers the gun in Lena’s hands.
“You did great. You saved Agent Danvers.” Kara whispered to her as Lena finally looked at her.
“What?” Lena asked, tears forming in her eyes.
“Shh…” Kara said gently, taking the gun from her hands and setting it down next to Alex. “You saved Agent Danvers, Ms. Luthor.” She adds and Lena sat down, her eyes unfocused and heartbeat erratic.
“Kara…” She whispered, not caring that others could hear her. Kara wrapped Lena in a tight embrace not caring that her sister now knows Lena knows who she is. Corben had already been taken away by Superman.
“She knows?” Alex asks, trying to keep her tone from sounding like an accusation.
“I will talk to you about this later.” Kara informs picking Lena up and flying her off to the hospital. Alex watches her go clearly pissed off. “Supergirl…” She said it like an insult.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A day later L-Corp was fixed and operational again. While Clark was in town he missed most of Kara, and Lena sneaking around together because neither girl wanted Superman to know just yet. Clark had written a genuine, and true article; there was no bias for, or against Lena, and it was just the truth, and her own quotes.
Lena stood up after reading the article genuinely appreciating him for not trashing her.
“Thank you, Mr. Kent.” She said with so much genuine feeling in her voice Kara couldn’t help, but smile. “This is exactly the kind of press my company needs after yesterday’s attack. And thank you for including that part about me shooting the guy. That’ll teach Lex to mess with me. He’’l be the laughing stock of cell block X.” She says this part to Kara with a genuine smile.
“Well, that’s not exactly why I wrote it. I wrote it because it’s the truth. I was wrong about you, Ms. Luthor. I’m sorry.” Kara watches her cousin give Lena a much deserved apology.
“Well, if I can make a believer out of Clark Kent, there’s hope yet.” Her voice was quieter as she’s slightly overcome by emotion.
“What about you Ms. Danvers?” She turned her attention to the woman who had been so gentle with her. “I didn’t see your name on the byline.” She questions and Kara stutters slightly.
“Oh, I’m-I’m not a reporter.” She readjusted her glasses nervously.
“You could have fooled me.” She offers. The look they shared was something charged, but it ended all too soon with Clark there. “I hope this isn’t the last time we talk.” Lena offers flirtatiously and Kara flirts back
“I hope not either.” Clark glances between the two, before leading the way out. Kara follows almost immediately looking almost like a love struck teenager.
“So…” Clark asks once they were in the elevator. “Lena Luthor, huh.”
“What?” Kara asks, clearly confused.
“Your mystery guy. It’s Lena Luthor.” He says as if it wasn’t a big deal.
“How did you
…?” Kara trails off and he glances at her lovingly.
“I’m a reporter, Kara. I have an eye for things people don’t want me to see.” He adds and glances at her. “Does she know about us?” He asks more curious than upset.
“No. Well she knows about me, but she doesn’t know you’re Superman. I actually told her I was Supergirl during the Red incident on our first night together.” Kara explains. “So your secret is safe.” He nods slowly.
“Okay.” He answers, and bumps into Kara. “I’m glad you found someone. Since you know you’re an old spinster now.” He smirks at her and she dumps back into him, rolling her eyes.
“That’s because my partner would have been picked for me by the time I was sixteen.” Kara isn’t upset, but the playfighting is fun. “I like that on Earth I get to choose.”
