‘’One black coffee, please!’’ Diantha shouted to the barista. ‘’And a Lumiose Galette for Keldeo!’’ Keldeo let out an excited neigh, and Diantha lowered her hand to stroke its mane.
Just then, a lady who was sitting at the table across from her exclaimed, ‘’Could it really be?’’ Diantha shifted her gaze to where the lady was looking and gasped in shock.
‘’No! Those Malasadas are mine!’’ a lady with silky blonde hair that went down to her legs cackled. A group of children stood in front of her. They looked both scared and angry, staring at a basket in her hands.
‘’Hey, I bought those with my allowance for my little sister!’’ a young boy screamed. ‘’Riolu, use Vacuum Wave!’’ Riolu held out its arms, releasing a shock wave that pushed the slender woman back.
‘’Gothita, Psychic!’’ a brown-haired girl shouted.
‘’Attack with Swift, Eevee!’’ the shortest girl exclaimed. The attacks hit the mysterious lady, but she did not look like she was about to surrender. She pulled out a Poké Ball, revealing a gray and golden Pokémon with red eyes that glowed like Mega Stones. The serpentine Pokémon towered over the children, and even from the café Diantha could make out their scared faces. ‘’Giratina, show those ignorant fools your true power! Shadow Claw!’’ Giratina slashed its shadow-coated claws across the air, knocking out Riolu and Gothita in an instant. ‘’And for you, a special Dragon Breath!’’ she shouted at the short girl with the Eevee. The girl pulled out a Poké Ball and recalled her Pokémon as fast as she could.
‘’Who is that? Diantha asked.
‘’She’s a member of Team Galactic. The Lieutenant, to be precise,’’ an Ace Trainer explained.
A Rising Star added on, ‘’She used to be the Champion of Sinnoh, but became convinced to join Team Galactic. That makes her a formidable threat,’’
‘’In fact, despite only being a second-in-command, she has skill that could rival the boss himself,’’ a Beauty said.
‘’Her name is Cynthia. She possesses a Legendary Pokémon, Giratina,’’ a Hiker replied.
‘’I can take her on,’’ Diantha declared. ‘’I’m a Champion too!’’ The patrons in the café were shocked. She left the café, slipping a small check on her table. When she got outside, she found herself face to face with the woman. Their eyes met, and Diantha was captivated by her beauty. It felt ethereal, how her blonde hair shimmered in the bright sun, how her grey eyes looked like they were made of the finest silver and how her whole outfit looked so coordinated. Diantha stood paralyzed, until she heard the woman call Giratina to use Dragon Pulse.
‘’Keldeo, Hydro Pump!’’ Diantha shouted. Keldeo shot a stream of water with so much force that it overpowered the Renegade Pokémon’s Dragon Pulse. However, Cynthia, excited to have an opponent on par with her ability, commanded her Pokémon to use Shadow Ball. The Colt Pokemon had no problem destroying the attack with Bubble Beam. ‘’Then, use Sacred Sword!’’ Diantha called, ignoring the fact that Ghost-type Pokémon were immune to Fighting-type moves. Giratina dodged, and Keldeo’s horn hit Cynthia instead. The lady collapsed on the ground, and Diantha noticed that blood was already starting to seep through her dress. ‘’I’ll take you to the hospital,’’ Diantha assured her.
‘’No, I’ve failed. My boss will kill me,’’ Cynthia sobbed, weak from blood loss.
‘’You have to go to the hospital. I’ll call an ambulance,’’ Diantha said in a stern voice.
At the hospital, Diantha told an unconscious Cynthia, ‘’I love you. I was hesitant to fight you because I loved you. But I had no choice,’’ She paused for a second, then continued, ‘’But deep down, I hope you will change. Maybe even leave Team Galactic so we could be together. But that’s just wishful thinking,’’ Then, she noticed a faint smile on Cynthia’s face, and smiled to herself.
