Art Post for: "Broken Horses"

Fic Summary:
Jensen escaped the dangers of being the only person in his village with magic as a child, fleeing to the forest that’s become his sanctuary, his ability to transform into a horse his true escape from ever being associated with the hateful humans he’s left behind. He remains undisturbed as he grows into adulthood, until a strangely familiar man is chased into his territory, also fleeing for his life. At first reluctant to help, Jensen finds himself intrigued by the stranger and led on a journey to return to his humanity, and maybe even his former home.

Jared grew up thinking that his best friend had been an imaginary one, shielded by his parents from any association with magic that might condemn him. When his own magic manifests in him as an adult, he’s forced to run for his life, into a forest he has no idea how to survive on his own. Unexpectedly approached by a lone horse, he finds himself not only surviving, but reunited with his very real childhood best friend. He only wishes he didn’t have to drag them both back into danger, but he can’t abandon the family he’s left behind.

When timehasa_way picked my art during claims I was ecstatic and wait until you read the amazing J2 RPF fic she wrote to go with my prompt. This art was in a previous event before but the author had to drop due to IRL matters, was very up front about it. Well, and I laughed, smiled, and cried while reading the fic, it is absolutely magnificent.

Work Text:

This fic, this collaboration I could have done another three art pieces and still not have captured all the amazing, touching scenes that Timehasa_way magicked on paper as the wordsmith that she is.

I have always loved horses, they are my favorite animal and while watching Tumbled with my little human the idea came to me to have Dean or Jensen be a horse shifter of some sort, because his eye and hair color along with his freckles just work so well for that. This art, the prompt where Sam or Jared in this case is gently cupping the snout of horse Jensen / Dean, was probably about the 2nd or third art piece I have ever made in Photoshop so you will see some changes in art style between the three pieces of art. I tried to mimic the unblended style of the original art though.
