Chapter Text
It’s was supposed to be an ordinary day – or at least what counts as ordinary day for you when you’re a literal vigilant who spent most of his time fighting in the street of New York and stopping villain who can’t seem to bear the idea of a healthy life away from crimes nor the word redemption plus the store robbery all across the city – but nonetheless he doesn’t sense any danger for a moment.
He was sitting on the edge of some kind of apartment building – resting – after a tiring fight with the kingpin. He originally planned to patrol one last time before he calls it for today but he was so worn out that he decided to rest for a little bit.
The weather up in gave off a thick–refreshing–cool air that will be enough for anyone who takes a deep breath and exhales to temporarily forget all of the stress and problem that they're currently facing, with an overall bright – but not too hot – sun that gives peaceful warm sunlight to his people and a huge clouds that took different shapes.
To say the least everything seems quiet and perfect—
….
‘Gosh, I shouldn’t have thought of that! Welp I definitely jinxed it.” He thinks to himself right after he took a last–deep–relaxing breath as he begins to push himself off the roof and stood up all while he was dusting off any dust or dirt there was, that was stuck onto his suit.
After he was sure that he at least looked decent enough to patrol around, he raised his wrist web shooter towards the other building and fired.
Thwip!
After a few minutes of swinging around, he heard a distance child voice call his name.
“Mama, look! spiderman!” A little kid excitedly shrieked down on the side walk all while pointing onto the sky he’s swinging by, even when the mother finally decide to give in to look at where he’s pointing, the boy still insisted on tugging the poor woman’s dress and look between him and her to see if she’s still looking.
He chuckled at the sight he’s witnessing and so that he can ease the poor woman's stress level, he abruptly changed the direction that he’s heading and aimed his shooter towards the building next to the mother and son to pay them a little visit.
“It’s Spider-man with hyphen, little guy.” He informs the boy at the same time that he lands in front of them. The boy didn’t waste a single second before he rushed towards him, the kid was so excited that he couldn’t help but to pat his head, the boy didn’t seem to mind but started to attack him with a bunch of question like where did the web come from, where can he buy one and stuff like that but at least the kid actually listened and added a hyphen on his name.
“Come on, Mark. Stop interrogating Spiderman and let him breath” The mother soon appeared next to her kid, she was shaking her head as she spoke with a fond smile that she wore shortly after she took a deep sigh. The people around them started to either pull their phones up – mainly the teenagers – to record the moment or just watched the entire interaction between the boy and Spider-man all while living at the moment.
“Actually ma’am—“
“Ma! Spider-man said that his name has a hyphen!” The boy – Mark – quickly corrected her before he could even do it, with frown eyebrows and a pouted lips that he wore as he faced his mom to complain which honestly makes him look like he’s adorably sulking rather than being mad.
The woman was momentarily stunned by the boy's outburst – looks like the kid was polite enough that he never raised his voice like that to her – before she quickly hid a quiet laugh.
He was also trying to hide his smile ‘thank goodness for the mask’ but then his spider sense informs him.
Go. Needed. Bad!
His muscles immediately instinctively recoiled at his spider sense warning as he clutched his fist and prepared himself to shatter the boy’s happiness by leaving almost immediately but before he could even say anything the mother did it for him.
The woman must have sensed that he tensed up cause she immediately held her son’s shoulder and spoke.
“Come on, Mark. Say goodbye to Spider-man, there are places that he needs to be and people who might need his help.” The mother urged his son as she pushed him toward the hero.
“But it’s… only been minutes…” Mark muttered and complained to his mother as he put on the biggest puppy eye that the boy could manage and clutched his hand on her dress.
Seeing this, Spider-man couldn’t help but soften up at the sight of the boy who looked like a kicked puppy.
“Don’t worry, mark! I promise I'd swing by this spot to look for you and miss..?” He trailed off at the last sentence as his way of asking for a name all while he was patting the kid's head.
“Just call me Mrs. D, I need to set an example of not telling names and stranger danger after all.” She replied with a smile and that finally made him chuckle to himself before he finally raised his web shooter and fired.
Thwip!
“Mrs. D it is, Mark behave and listen to your mom! Okay!” He lectured him as soon as he felt the web connected onto the building.
“I promise! Bye Spider-man!!” He heard Mark gleefully replied to him right after he took off and quickly gave him a quick salute.
Thwip!
After a while of his spidey sense guiding he finally spotted a familiar flame in the clear blue sky of New York, it was from his hot idiotic lover who for some reason kept on insisting to message him – to meet at their usual place – using his flames to make out words from the sky instead of just messaging him through the phone like a normal person.
“The usual place huh” He sheepishly read to himself as felt an overwhelming surge of embarrassment wash over him when he swing by through the tall buildings in the city and would occasionally spot some of New Yorkers on their balconies grinning ear to ear trying and failing to hide their smugly grins while shooting him a look that’s basically saying ‘i know what you are’ as he passed them by.
‘And Hey! it’s not my fault, i’m blushing through my mask that moron is basically loudly announcing our relationship to the citizens of New York!’. He angrily thought to himself but soon cut it off as soon as he spotted a familiar back figure in the flames of the torch that the Lady of Liberty was holding.
‘It’s pretty ironic, if you think about it. The Human Torch of the Fantastic Four sitting on the flame of the torch of Lady Liberty statue.’ He remarked in his head all while he began to brace his landing.
Thud!
“You really couldn’t find a better way to contact me, love?” he question to the other figure, who is unsurprisingly, his boyfriend but his fondness was cut short when all of the sudden felt every inch of all of his body stood up inside his suit and just in time did his spidey sense warns him.
Johnny! Off. WRONG!
His spider-sense flared up in his head causing him to paused.
“Hey… you okay? You seem to be a little… off today?” He warily mutters to his boyfriend as he begins to gather courages to finally approach him as slowly as possible toward the torch he is currently sitting with one of his hands raised up to try and touch him to get a better look at him but just then his indifferent lover who paid no mind to his question and abruptly stood up without warning and turned to face him.
DODGE!!!
He didn’t even register the fact that his lover – Johnny – had attacked him when his body instinctively on its own moved away from the fist that would have burned half of his mask and face if he was a second too late but he had unfortunately burned his wrist when Johnny grabbed his wrist–hard before he punched him his face causing him to stumble over, when he attacked him again without warning, this time using a fireball.
“Whoa! Whoa! What are you doing!?” He yelped and nervously asked his partner, when he noticed something weird – The visible forceful strain movements on his muscle as if he didn’t care if moving like that hurt him, the unusual fighting style that was clearly not from his love and looked like from someone else, and plus how the blue gorgeous eyes pupil was so blown wide with a yellow surrounding it like he looked at that exact eye almost everyday, did they really think i wouldn’t notice – ‘Yup someone is definitely controlling him’ he noted to his head.
Someone. controlling. BAD!
His spider-sense confirms it which honestly made him more nervous since he’s really tired and doesn’t have much more energy to fight Johnny off plus the unknown person who’s controlling him who he didn’t even know how strong was.
“Johnny!” He called out before he landed a heavy blow in Johnny’s face as soon as he got close enough ‘I hate to ruin his pretty face but he's kinda being an A-hole right now’ and that brought him the time he needed to put some distance between them.
Thwip!
“Wake up already! You’re being controlled” He demanded as he swatted away another fireball thrown towards him using his unburned hand and blocked Johnny’s hit.
He also suspiciously noticed how there seem to be an oddly high number of owls flocking around them as if watching and how they all seem to be watching them intently but he paid them no mind as he was busy trying to stop Johnny from attacking him.
Watching. Monitoring. Analyzing.
His spider-sense warns him but he ignores it as he dodges another fireball that was being thrown at him.
“JOHNNY I SWEAR TO GOD IF YOU DON’T STOP HITTING ME WITH THAT FIREBALL, I WILL BREAK UP WITH YOU!!!” He shouted, his voice laced with irritation even though he knew that he wasn’t – Well, maybe – talking to Johnny and he didn’t really mean it ‘he will definitely sleep on the couch though’.
‘Heck, he didn’t even know if he’s still in there’ but as if the universe finally took pitied on him, Johnny paused as soon as he said those words ‘Maybe, this is my chance’ then out of nowhere Johnny slammed into him causing the two of them to fall into a portal—
New. BAD! AVOID!!!
His spider-sense loudly warns but it’s too late as he tries to shoot a webline only to realize that his shooter has been burned meaning that whoever was controlling Johnny has always been targeting his web shooter.
“WAIT! SINCE WHEN IS THERE EVEN A PORTAL THERE!!??” His panickedness was soon cut short as felt an overwhelming burning pain spreading across his body as he fell with darkness that seemed to engulf them and just in time did Johnny finally lost consciousness but at the worst timing cause he let go of peter and was dragged away from him

To say the least, Poison Ivy had expected a lot of things for tonight to go south especially during the Arkham Prison break but this… this is one thing she would never have expected to happen.
It was… quiet, so quiet that you could practically hear water drops from the faucet in the sink, so quiet that you could hear the wind howling into the night sky and so quiet that you can finally hear the tiniest sound of grapple that the discreet vigilantes uses but it both did and didn’t brought comfort to know that their here cause deep down through their bones they all knew that calamity will soon strike Gotham once again and that the fact that all vigilantes have their hands full, tells them everything.
It's worrying enough that the gothamites don't even dare to breathe too loudly out of fear that something bad will happen to them, and the kind of quiet where you just wait for something big to explode. It’s basically the calm before the storm, the perfect time for everything to go wrong.
Even the infamous rogues of Gotham, Poison Ivy knew that something bad is about to happen as to the rogues such as the annoying Clown, Bane, Killer Croc and his beloved Harley had just recently once again escaped the Arkham prison, keeping all of the bats busy and wary of every suspicious move during their nightly patrols.
Until finally it happened tonight, The Clown finally decided to strike once again, causing the Gotham live television news to be filled with numerous civilians and property reports from the GCPD headquarters but even though the significant number of damage was less than the last year's breakout, doesn’t mean that many people weren't affected by it.
Usually she couldn’t care less about it – unless it involves targeting nature – she would just normally go to bed and call it a night but then she stopped on her tracks when they also reported spotting her lover to be helping out the Bats with their fights with the Joker’s goons.
Causing her to stay up all night just to welcome reprimanded her beloved cause usually she would have been home by now she is scared that something would happen to her but her growing worries were soon cut short when she heard a loud familiar woman voice cheerfully calling out to her.
“PAMMY!! HONEY!! YOU’RE SWEETIE PIE IS BACK!!” Harley cheerfully declares as she enters the entrance domain of Ivy’s top green house all while the vines, to prevent any chance of her being tripped or pricked by them, hurriedly move away from her and make a path for her already too used to her presence.
“Well since you're finally back, would you mind telling me where you have been for the past few hours?” she retorted with a mix of fondness and irritation through her steady-cold-voice as she stood up and turned towards the direction of the woman’s voice as she pretended as if she didn’t already knew the answer.
“And to why did you only returned now in the middle of the night. Harley.” She questioned with a chilling tone on her voice all while she began to examine her partner's condition on every visible part of her body. She might be mad at her for being late since she was planning on taking her on a date but her worries for Harley’s safety were evident.
Harley after quickly realizing that her Red was not dropping it, basically depleted like a balloon with her slumped shoulder and looked at her with a big puppy eye but still managed to keep her voice cheerful with a hint of apologetic tone that she knew Red will always eat up.
“Oh well you know me, i accidentally stumbled across Mister J goons discussing their plan tonight during my escape so i decided to why not tip off one of our little birdie jay cause i still haven’t settled a proper score on that maniac and to join the fun while I’m at it” she happily explain as she move her hands through Ivy to fully hug her, knowing her that would be enough to appease Ivy for a little bit but enough time for ivy to forget that she is mad at her and soon ask:
“You’re mad at me… aren’t ya…?” She sulkingly said with the biggest puppy eye and looked at her partner who – she knew – won’t be long before they finally caved at the sight.
And true to her word, it really wasn’ t long before her wife finally gave in as she let out the deepest sigh they could manage at the same time as they put their hand into their head and met her expectant gaze.
“Well… did you have your fun, harls?” Red sighed and asked all while she began to wrap her arms around their waist, following suit of her partner’s action and pulling her in.
“Oh! absolutely! You should have seen Mister J face when he—“ Her face immediately lit up but she didn’t even get to finish what she was about to say to her wife, when all of a sudden they both heard a loud noise – just right near them – causing them both to pause on the spot.
Crash!!!
The sound of glass scattering all across the floor combined with the sound of something or someone falling down-hard caused the two of them to break free from each other embraced and be wary of intruders in their home as they immediately rushed toward to where the crash came from. And that’s when they saw it, a small-bloodied-figure that resembled a kid while wearing an oversized torn red-and-blue suit with a black spider on their chest and was currently bleeding out as they lay still on the ground.
The figure didn’t immediately notice them until they were close enough that he finally looked up towards them and was now having quite a hard time standing up on their own as soon as they spotted them.
“M’sorry… miss? Ma’am? I… n’t mean to fall into… your—.“ the figure has a high-pitched-kid-voice that they used but then whatever they were saying was soon abruptly cut short when they suddenly seemed to have lost consciousness and fell forward again in front of the two.
But this time Pamela managed to catch them – No, him – at the last second, right before his head was close into hitting the solid ground, by using the closest vines that don't have thorns in them to wrapped around the boy’s body and slowly lay him down towards the ground, careful with his visible wounds as she begins to examine the boy’s condition, who doesn't even seem to look more older than a mere 11 kid.
