BALDUR’S MOUTH GAZETTE – SPECIAL RELEASE
13 Mirtul 1493
SWORD COAST FREE FROM THREAT OF ELDER BRAIN
Late last evening, reports of an Elder Brain appearing above the bay began to pour into the Gazette offices. Reports and eye-witness testimony report that this threat has been neutralized by a group of intrepid heroes, Flaming Fists, and City Watch.
Gazette reporters were unable to speak with the heroes themselves, but it is reported that among the group were son of the former Grand Duke Ravengard, Wyll Ravengard, or the Blade of Frontiers, as he and his fans call him. Other reports suggest that famed wizard, Gale of Waterdeep, chosen of Mystra herself was also a member of this party. Other members of the party, whose identities the Gazette cannot verify, include a Waterdhavian cleric of Lathander some have called Birdie, and famed heroes Jaheira and Minsc.
We asked someone familiar with the party to recount his experiences with them. “We spoke with the heroes a few times before the battle,” one of the Flaming Fist combatants recalled. “Before they defeated the Elder Brain, they were causing trouble all around the city. They were actually wanted in relation to the murder of Lord Enver Gortash.”
“We’re grateful for their work,” proprietor of Sorcerous Sundries, Rolan, says of the party. “Without their help, my family and I would have surely not survived traversing the land from Elturel."
Despite their hard work protecting the people of the Sword Coast, hundreds are reporting extensive property damage, and the number of injuries from a related Mind Flayer attack number in the hundreds.
If you are injured, healing tents should be operational in each neighborhood in the city. If you are in need of financial assistance for repairs to your property, or have lost property during this ordeal, please contact your representative in the Parliament of Peers.
AFTER DISAPPEARANCE OF CAZADOR SZARR, CRIMSON PALACE FINDS NEW OCCUPANT?
After three hundred years of continual occupation by Lord Cazador Szarr, reports have come into the Gazette that a new owner has begun renovations on the Crimson Palace in the Upper City. The identity of this owner has not been verified by the Gazette, but those close to the former owner indicate that this new owner is a distant relative of the Szarr family.
These developments come after the recent disappearance of its previous owner. The Flaming Fists have not completed their investigation into his disappearance, but have assured Gazette reporters that they will be kept abreast of any updates to assuage any worries residents of the Upper City may have.
