Work Text:

The water is nice and warm. The kind of warm that sent tingles down Hikaru's spine, a sensation that made him feel alive and like he was almost human.

The two of them initially planned on a quick shower together to save water before they went out to go grocery shopping, but eyes wandered and they gravitated towards each other after a few minutes of quiet and awkward washing. Leaving the two men in a position on the floor of the shower, water running over them gently as Yoshiki sat there staring up at the ceiling–mind lost elsewhere.

"What're ya thinkin' about?" the white-haired man tilted his head slightly, as if trying to map out Yoshiki's thoughts without even touching his brain. Those crimson pupils staring into Yoshiki's with maybe a bit too much intensity.

"What am I thinkin' about?" Yoshiki repeats the question out loud to himself as he looks back at Hikaru with almost the same intensity. "Kubitachi—Everythin' that happened back there." he shifts his gaze back to the tiled floor of the shower, taking in every individual line that overfilled with water from the still running shower head. Their apartment didn't come with a bathtub, much to Hikaru's dismay since the man preferred to take long relaxing baths rather than stand for several minutes. He really is a brat, Yoshiki thinks. A spoiled one.

Hikaru must've sensed the tension forming around them since Yoshiki felt a wet ankle press against his own, head lifting up to meet the other's eyes. "Chill out," Yoshiki shook his head with a soft laugh. "It's nothin' bad, atleast I don't think."

"What do ya mean? What's to think about?" Hikaru furrowed his brows a bit as he leaned closer. "I thought ya didn't wanna go back there." Hikaru spoke with tense shoulders until Yoshiki sighed and ruffled Hikaru's wet hair, earning a few grumbles of annoyance from the shorter male. "I said chill. I ain't goin' back. I'm just.. reminiscing, I guess?" Yoshiki moved his hand to scratch at his own chin lightly. "About how much ya went through, yet ya still perservered. I'm proud of ya."

That alone earned a small blush from Hikaru, who beamed at the compliment. "Yeah?" he reached forward to gently rub at Yoshiki's face, who stiffened a bit in response to the touched. "Well, I'm proud of ya too. I get to see yer' handsome face now! Moles and all!" Hikaru shifted to get on his knees. Pressing his hands gently onto Yoshiki's thighs as he leaned in and pressed light kisses to the moles on Yoshiki's beautiful face. "I love seein' all your moles.. they're like little constellations all over yer' body." Hikaru reestablished this by pressing a few more kisses to the moles on Yoshiki's neck. "An' I love how red ya get, too!" he smiled brightly at the ravenhead.

Yoshiki let himself smile softly and lean into Hikaru's touch, bringing a hand to gently trace his fingers along the scar on Hikaru's neck. "I think I'm more proud of ya. Ya endured so much from Satou and the company, and ya still wear these scars without lettin' it get to ya. That takes a lot of strength." Yoshiki felt butterflies flutter in his stomach as he mimicked Hikaru's earlier actions, pressing his lips to the thin line on Hikaru's neck while his free hand caressed the lines on one of Hikaru's thighs like the monster was made of porcelain.

Yoshiki shifted to pull Hikaru into a hug. The feeling of skin-to-skin contact satisfying something deep in Yoshiki's heart. He thinks he could hold Hikaru forever like this, perhaps until they become one. A fate dedicated to being with Hikaru forever doesn't sound too bad to Yoshiki, after all. "I'm sorry ya had to go through all that. I'm sorry for not gettin' there faster." Yoshiki muttered as he pressed lazy kisses to Hikaru's nape, closing his eyes and breathing in the smell of the fruity shampoo and conditioner Hikaru always used.

Hikaru took a light breath in reply before smiling gently and moving his hand to gently tangle his fingers in Yoshiki's hair. "Ain't yer' fault. It should be me who's sorry. I was too out of it and granted a wish I shouldn't have.. m'sorry, Yoshiki." Hikaru spoke softly, like he was about to cry. Yoshiki quickly jerked back and looked him in the eye with furrowed brows. "Don't apologize," Yoshiki moved both of his hands to cup Hikaru's soft cheeks, his marked thumb gently moving to rub at the skin he kissed every day. "Ya didn't know any better, those people knew what they were doin'. It's not your fault. They're just..." he held his breath, his tone a bit too firm. "Sick. Sick and cruel." Yoshiki squeezed his eyes shut and shook his head before ducking in to mouth lightly at the scar on Hikaru's neck. "They're horrible human beings who deserve the worst of the worst."

Yoshiki lightened his kisses as his anger slightly settled. He hates the company for what they did. Tying up and treating Hikaru like he's some specimen when he's anything but. To Yoshiki, Hikaru is the only thing that matters, his light.

"Hey, Yoshiki." Hikaru tried to lighten the mood as he caressed the back of Yoshiki's neck. "Ya got so many moles on yer' back. So pretty," he pulled back just enough to look at Yoshiki properly, a smile on his face wide enough to squint his eyes a bit. "So happy ya don't hide them anymore." Hikaru leaned in to press soft kisses to the moles of Yoshiki's shoulders. "They ain't gonna hurt me no more," Hikaru settled on nuzzling into Yoshiki's neck. "I'm okay." he breathed in a smell that distinctly belonged to Yoshiki. A smell that brought him comfort.

Yoshiki allowed himself to relax into Hikaru's touch, returning it just as tightly with his chin gently resting on Hikaru's nape. "I know, and I'm glad.. it's just—I'm still worked up about it. It was a lot to handle back then." Yoshiki wrapped his arms around Hikaru's midsection. "Yeah, I know. But we got out of it okay, didn't we?" Hikaru replied with a smile. "You and me."

"Yeah," Yoshiki felt a warmth seep into his body, a gentle smile tugging at his lips. "You and me."

...

"..We should probably get out before we run up the water bill." Hikaru laughed softly, to which Yoshiki sighed in disappointment before reluctantly pulling away. "Yeah, okay. Let's get out."
