Chapter Text
A young male with a feminine appearance sat quietly in a room as his maids did his long brown hair into a some nice half braids. They hadn't dared say a word, they could feel the anger coming from him.
This man was John. He was the personification of England, had been for years.
What is a personification? It is a humanoid version of the land. They aren't entirely human, they look completely human, outside of their animal features. Most hid those freatures though. John was not one that did. Personifications need three things to come alive. Land, government and finally people. They can't survive without all three. They were gods to mortals.
"Ow." John's voice was cold when the maids brush hit against his lion ear. "I apologize, My Country." "Just don't let it happen again."
John wasn't happy. How dare his king go behind his back like this?! He understood that Scotland and England were bound to become close at some point, they were on an island together after all. But why did it have to include a cause that said he had to wed the Personification of Scotland?! The personification of Scotland is named Alexander. Why did they have to unite into one?! John and Alexander never gotten along, heck the two have met twice. Thoughhe couldn't complain, some people never got to meet their future spouse before the wedding...
"You look lovely, My Country." John took a deep breath, he couldn't be mad at his personal maids, they'd been around so long-...
When he moves into his wedding estate, there will be different maids...he didn't want different maids!
"My Country, are you okay? You are quite pale?"
"You look fine, My Country." "Easy for you to say, you are not getting married." Alexander said bitterly as his servant adjusted Alexander's blue kilt. "How did you even convince them to let you wear this?" "I am very convincing." Alexander said with a smirk. "You probably just yelled till you got your way." Alexander laughed at his servants words. He didn't exactly like that he'd have to leave his servant behind but his servant was on the older side, and Alexander had ensured he'd be set for the rest of his life.
"Any advice? You've been married for 30 years now."
"Well, you personifications are different then us mortals, you'll be stuck together a lot longer than me and my wife."
"I'm being serious." Alexander gave his servant the look he'd seen so many times. "Well, I've learned that if my wife is happy, the whole house is happy. She gave me two beautiful daughters and a beautiful son."
"Most people don't think like that" "Indeed, maybe I'm just ahead of my time. You'll probably live to see a day where people like my wife would be the same as myself, I probably won't so write it down for me when it happens will you?" Alexander smiled, this is why he loved his servant, his servant was amazing.
"It's time. To marry John and officially unite Scotland and England."
"It's time to marry this Sawney. To unite England and Scotland."
"John, be nice!"
The future couple climbed into separate carriages and were taken in the direction of the wedding venue.
Alexander waved as he passed his people.
John just stared as he passed his. His people were use to it, they are use to his cold personality though
Maybe this will soften him up
No one would dare say the unspoken words outloud.
The wedding was to be held in the direct center between the two countries. A large wedding building in the middle of nowhere, yet so many people came to watch. Perhaps because Personifications weddings scale just as big as royal weddings, if not bigger in some cases? Who knows.
Soon both carriages arrived, with Alexander arriving first but that had been planned as John was to walk second after Alexander. Something that John had protested greatly as it felt like they'd be pushing him into the role as bride but personifications are technically genderless beings so neither were technically the bride or the groom. The simply fact was that Alexander was older, John was younger, which is why Alexander was to go first.
The two stood in front of the priest, someone from Scotland since England was no longer connected to the Catholic Church. So many mortals watching a wedding that John was positive would mean nothing in a few centuries, maybe even as short as a few decades.
John could barely understand what the priest was saying. He hated that accent.
Alexander was all smiles. He wanted to appear excited for his people, though he was annoyed especially when he saw the look of disdain on John's face. His people's accent was beautiful!
"I do..."
"...I accept."
Alexander slid the ring on John's ring finger and John did the same to Alexander.
"You may kiss."
John wanted to skip this part but Alexander was faster then him. He cupped John's face and brought their lips together. It was quite aggressive but he somehow made it look soft, John didn't know if it was aggressive because of how John's face was clearly annoyed by the accent or if it was just how Alexander was when he kissed.
Not that John minded.
When the kiss finally broke, John was met with Alexander's smug grin.
"You seem to enjoying that. Maybe I should do it again." Alexander spoke in a tone just loud enough so that only John could hear.
"I will hit you!" John whispered-yelled.
"With the power vested in me, I now pronounce you wed. With this union, I unite England and Scotland as one."
Neither had any vows to say, why would they? They barely knew each other. This was gonna be a long marriage...
